Keep the Partition

$2.99Price

Juliana Dillon is hired to reopen the Marlowe, a boarded-up grindhouse theater being restored as an honest indie cinema. When the historical consultant demands that one original preview booth be preserved behind glass, complete with its infamous glory hole, Juliana sees only liability. Contractor Maxim Malone pushes back, insisting the glass will never be installed if she keeps stalling inspections.

One late night Juliana sits inside Booth 3 to draft a memo about period accuracy and discovers the wall was never sealed. A stranger waits on the other side. What begins as a single, reckless touch becomes a ritual: after the crew leaves, Juliana returns to the booth, negotiating desire through a partition that should have been bricked over decades ago. She names him Marcel. As the restoration calendar tightens and glass is ordered, Juliana maintains professional distance from Maxim while sustaining encounters with Marcel, mapping control and limits through the hole.

The story follows her transformation from buttoned-up project manager to a woman who claims the building’s most illicit history as her own, balancing daylight professionalism against the nightly surrender that redefines her.
