The Performance Compliance Clause by Hypno Holly
Length: 32, 700 words
Hollywood studios know that actresses can be difficult. That's why they've built in the Compliance Control Clause into all new filming contracts. With a helpful trigger phrase, that troublesome starlet will follow directorial cues, doing whatever's necessary to fulfill your artistic vision.
For Charla Temptin, landing the role of Star-Girl in a big-budget super hero blockbuster is a dream come true. It's her chance to prove her versatility, to play the lead as a strong female heroine. The script speaks to her. The costume is functional, instead of sexy. She even gets to co-star with her real life boyfriend, and opposite the famed Abe Linkwin. It truly is the role of a lifetime.
Then, the first script rewrites come in. They're subtle, just a slip up here and there. They're showing her character's vulnerability. But soon, the changes keet coming, diminishing her role, changing her character, making her more submissive. When Charla rebels, the producer invokes the Compliance Control Clause, and Charla can no longer help but play the role exactly as it's written. No matter how degrading it gets.
