Capture and Auction

Mina Ventley crouched behind a crumbling concrete pillar, her short-cropped dark hair damp with sweat under the relentless sun. The irradiated ruins stretched out before her like a graveyard of the old world, twisted metal and shattered glass glinting with faint green residue. "Keep it tight, people," she said, her voice clipped and low. "Fuel cells and canned goods only. No hero shit today."

Her crew of four scavengers fanned out behind her, their boots crunching on loose debris. She led them through the skeletal remains of what had once been a warehouse district, her lean athletic frame moving with the easy confidence of years spent dodging death. Sun-weathered skin stretched over corded muscles, and her piercing green eyes scanned every shadow. The wasteland had carved her into this, a sharp-tongued captain who got her people in and out alive, most days.

"Mina, this place gives me the creeps," one of her crew muttered, a wiry kid named Rico. She shot him a glance over her shoulder.

"Creeps don't pay for fuel. Move."

They pressed deeper, the air thick with the metallic tang of radiation and decay. Mina's mind ticked through contingencies, her hand resting on the grip of her scavenged pistol. This run had to succeed. Their camp was running on fumes, literally, and one more failed supply grab would mean starvation or worse.

The first shot cracked like thunder, echoing off the ruins. Mina dropped instinctively, heart slamming against her ribs. "Ambush! Scatter!"

Chaos erupted. Raiders poured from the shadows, their vehicles roaring to life with stolen engines. Gunfire stitched across the ground, kicking up dust and debris. Mina rolled behind cover, firing back in controlled bursts. Her crew shouted, but the noise swallowed their voices. She saw Rico go down, clutching his side, then another scavenger yanked away by masked figures.

She tried to regroup, sprinting toward a side alley, but a heavy body slammed into her from the side. Strong arms pinned her wrists. "Got the leader," a rough voice growled near her ear. Mina twisted, kicking out, but more hands grabbed her legs. They stripped her weapons in seconds, binding her arms behind her back with rough cord.

The rest of the fight blurred. Her team was scattered or captured, the supply run shattered amid the roar of engines and the sting of smoke. A bag went over her head, and rough hands hauled her into a vehicle. The ride was bumpy and silent except for the raiders' low laughter. Mina's mind raced, calculating escape routes that didn't exist yet, her body already aching from the struggle.

When the hood came off, she was in a fortified pit ringed by rusted metal walls and torchlight. The auction. She'd heard whispers of these places, brutal markets where the strong sold the captured like livestock. Her clothes were cut away without ceremony, leaving her bare under the harsh lights. Sun-weathered skin prickled in the cool air, her full breasts and hips drawing immediate stares from the gathered bidders. The raiders paraded her around the central platform, forcing her to walk in a slow circle while voices called out assessments.

"Look at that body," one bidder shouted. "Fertile as hell. Prime breeding stock."

Mina kept her chin up, green eyes flashing with defiance even as shame burned hot in her gut. She wouldn't give them the satisfaction of seeing her break. Hands prodded her, turning her this way and that, appraising muscle tone and curves like she was a commodity. The air smelled of sweat, oil, and desperation.

The bidding started low but heated fast. Numbers climbed as men in scarred leather and makeshift armor shouted over each other. Mina stood exposed on the platform, her athletic frame tense, nipples tightening from the chill and unwanted attention. Internal thoughts clawed at her: survive this, find a way out, don't let them see the fear twisting in her stomach.

A tall figure at the back remained silent at first, his shaved head and cold gray eyes cutting through the crowd. Thrace. Even here, his name carried weight, a warlord whose compound swallowed women whole. His towering frame loomed as the bids escalated, his scarred skin and heavy build radiating command.

"Five hundred fuel units!" one bidder yelled.

"Six!" another countered.

Thrace's voice cut through like gravel. "One thousand. And my compound takes her now."

A hush fell. The other bidders muttered but backed down under his stare. Thrace's victory was absolute, his possession of her fertile body sealed with a nod from the auctioneer. Rough hands dragged Mina forward, still naked, as Thrace approached. His cold gray eyes raked over her, possessive and calculating.

"You'll do," he said, low and commanding. Mina met his gaze, sharp-tongued retort dying on her lips as the reality settled. The chain of her new life snapped shut around her, and the wasteland's brutality had only just begun.
