Dust and Chains

The night raid hit the outpost like a sandstorm. Alarms wailed across the fortified walls as gunfire cracked in the dark. Opal Hartley slammed a fresh mag into her rifle and sprinted toward the barracks, her boots kicking up dust. "Move! Get the kids and the wounded to the east tunnel," she shouted at the two guards still standing. Her short-cropped hair stuck to her sweat-slick forehead, green eyes scanning the chaos.

Explosions rocked the main gate. Raiders poured in, their vehicles grinding through the breach with chains and spikes welded to the frames. Opal dropped two men with precise shots, then grabbed a bleeding survivor by the arm. "Come on. We can still pull some out." She hauled the woman toward the extraction point, heart hammering against her ribs. The outpost was collapsing fast. She had to try.

A heavy boot caught her in the back. Opal went down hard, rifle skittering away. Rough hands flipped her over. The first raider grinned through a dust-caked beard, his stocky frame looming. "This one's alive. Pretty little Opal." He yanked her arms behind her back and snapped cold metal cuffs on her wrists.

She twisted, kicking out. "Get off me, you bastard!" Another raider joined in, pinning her legs. They dragged her through the dirt while the outpost burned behind them. Survivors screamed in the distance. Opal's chest tightened. She had failed to save enough.

They hauled her to a waiting truck at the edge of the raid. A thick leather collar clicked around her throat, the metal tag stamped with a convoy number. "You're property now," the bearded one said, his voice low and rough. "Fight it and it gets worse. Simple rule." He tugged the collar to make the point, fingers brushing her sun-weathered skin.

Opal glared up at him, breathing hard. "Go to hell." The collar bit into her neck when she tried to stand. They loaded her onto the back of the truck with three other captives, all women from the outpost. The vehicle lurched forward, joining the massive rolling convoy that stretched across the broken road like a metal serpent.

The pit car waited at the center of the formation. It was a long, reinforced trailer rigged with chains, benches, and low lights that swung with every bump. The raiders shoved Opal inside first. The air smelled of oil, sweat, and old blood. Other captives already huddled along the walls, marked by similar collars. One wiry woman with tangled auburn hair watched her with wary brown eyes.

"New blood," the woman muttered. "Name's Willa. Don't make noise unless you want their attention fast."

Before Opal could answer, the boarding party climbed in after them. Five men, all armed and road-worn. The stocky leader with the shaved head and tattoos stepped forward. Emmett Merritt, she heard one of them call him. The warlord himself. He pointed at Opal.

"Strip her. Let's see what we claimed." Two raiders grabbed her arms and cut away her Opal leathers with quick knife work. The fabric fell in tatters. Opal stood naked under their stares, lean muscles tense, scars from old runs visible across her arms and collarbone. Her skin prickled in the cool air of the moving car.

Emmett circled her, one calloused hand gripping her jaw. "Rules of the pit car. You serve the crew on rotation. You don't refuse. You breed when ordered. Obey and you eat. Fight and we make examples." He nodded to the others. "Show her."

They bent her over a low bench. Opal struggled, muscles straining against the cuffs, but the men held her firm. One raider's hand slid between her thighs, rough fingers testing her. "Tight. Good." Another unzipped, pressing against her from behind. She gasped as he pushed inside without warning, the stretch sudden and deep. The truck's motion rocked them together.

"That's the first lesson," Emmett said, voice calm like he was explaining engine specs. "Your body's the convoy's now. We use it. You take it." The man behind her thrust steadily, grunting with each push. Opal bit her lip, refusing to cry out. Heat flared low in her belly despite the anger. Her body betrayed her with slickness that eased the way.

Willa watched from the shadows, whispering just loud enough. "Relax into it. Makes it last less." Opal's eyes met hers, defiant still.

The first man finished with a low groan, spilling inside her. Another took his place immediately, turning her onto her back on the bench. He hooked her legs over his shoulders and drove in hard. The collar tugged at her throat with every jolt. "Eyes on me," he ordered. Opal glared but obeyed, green eyes locked on his as he pounded into her. Her breasts bounced with the rhythm. Sweat beaded on her skin.

Emmett leaned close, his breath on her ear. "You'll learn to ask for it. Most do." He palmed one of her breasts, thumb circling the nipple until it hardened. The third man finished and stepped back. They left her panting on the bench, cum leaking down her thighs. The rules settled in through the raw ache: resistance bought pain, compliance bought survival.

The convoy rumbled on through the night. Opal sat up slowly, wiping her mouth with the back of her cuffed hand. Her mind raced. She had to watch, learn the hierarchy, find the cracks. The pit car was just the start. She would not stay broken.

One of the raiders tossed her a thin blanket. "Rest while you can. Next shift's in four hours." Opal pulled the fabric around her shoulders, feeling the collar's weight. Dust coated everything. The road stretched endless ahead. She closed her eyes but kept her ears open, already mapping voices and names. Walter. The name drifted from the lead car radio. Walter-in-command. She filed it away.

Willa slid closer once the men left the car. "You fought at the outpost. Saw you hauling people out. Smart. Don't waste that here." Opal nodded once, pragmatic even now. The internal war had begun: survive, observe, and wait for the moment to turn the convoy's own rules against it.

The truck hit a bump. Chains rattled. Opal's body throbbed with the first claiming, but her mind sharpened. She would extract more than survivors this time. She would extract power.
