Forbidden Walin

Jeremy Walin stood in the doorway of the study, his tall frame filling the space as the sound of shattering glass echoed from the hallway. His gray eyes narrowed, the familiar surge of protective frustration tightening in his chest. Cora had done it again. His twenty-four-year-old sister had stumbled in at dawn, her fiery red hair tangled and her voice loud enough to wake the entire household with some half-remembered argument from the night before. The maid had already whispered about a broken vase in the foyer, another casualty of Cora's wild streak.

He exhaled slowly, adjusting the cuffs of his tailored shirt. "Cora," he called, his tone firm but measured, carrying the weight of an older brother who had spent years cleaning up after her impulses. "In here. Now."

She appeared a moment later, emerald eyes flashing with defiance, her lithe body still swaying slightly from whatever excess had kept her out all night. Her fair skin held a faint flush, and she wore one of those rebellious outfits that barely qualified as clothing, a short skirt and low-cut top that tested every boundary she could find. "What, Jeremy? Can't a girl come home without the interrogation squad?"

Jeremy stepped aside, gesturing her into the study with a precise motion. The room smelled of old leather and polished wood, a sanctuary of family history where their father's stern presence still lingered in the bookshelves. He closed the door behind her, the click deliberate. "Disrupting the household at this hour isn't a girl's right. It's chaos. Mother had to calm the staff again because of your dramatics."

Cora dropped into one of the armchairs, crossing her legs with a huff. "Oh please. It's not like I burned the place down. I had fun. You should try it sometime instead of playing lord of the manor."

Her words stung, but Jeremy kept his expression composed. He moved to the sideboard, pouring two glasses of water from the crystal decanter. The motion gave him time to think. Cora's latest rebellion had crossed into something more persistent lately, her defiance growing sharper with each passing week. He loved her, protected her, but the urge to tame that wildness had become an ache he could no longer ignore.

As he reached for the glasses, his hand brushed against a small wooden box tucked behind the decanter, forgotten among the family heirlooms. He opened it on impulse, revealing a slender vial of clear liquid, its label faded but the script unmistakable: an old Walin formula, whispered about in their father's private journals as a tool for obedience and focus. Mind-altering properties, physiological enhancers. Jeremy's pulse quickened. He had dismissed it as legend, but here it was, potent and waiting.

"You can't keep living like this," he said, turning back with the glasses. His voice held that paternal edge, the one that always made her bristle. "Wild parties, no regard for the family name. It's time you learned some restraint."

Cora laughed, sharp and bright. "Restraint? From you? Big brother, you're the most uptight person I know. Maybe if you loosened up, you'd stop hovering over me like I'm still twelve."

Jeremy offered her the glass, his fingers steady as he tipped the vial's contents into hers with a subtle flick of his wrist. The liquid dissolved instantly, invisible in the water. "Drink. It will help clear your head after your night out."

She took it without suspicion, downing half in one defiant gulp. "Happy now? Or do you want a full report on who I was with and what we did?"

He sipped his own glass, watching her closely from his seat across the desk. The confrontation had escalated just as he expected, her arguments circling back to the same points of independence and resentment. "Your lifestyle isn't freedom. It's self-destruction. Father built this family on discipline, and you're tearing at the edges."

Cora shifted in her chair, her emerald eyes narrowing. "You sound just like him. Always the protector, always the judge. I don't need your lectures, Jeremy. I'm an adult."

Minutes passed in tense silence broken only by their voices. Jeremy pressed on, his words calculated to wear at her defenses. "An adult who still relies on the family for everything. The money, the roof, the safety net when your impulses land you in trouble. It's time that changed."

She opened her mouth to retort, then paused. A faint warmth bloomed across her cheeks, spreading down her neck and into her chest. Her fair skin flushed deeper, an unexplained heat that made her shift again, her body suddenly aware of the fabric against her skin. Sensitivity prickled at her fingertips where they gripped the glass, a soft haze brushing the edges of her thoughts. She blinked, the sharpness of her anger dulling just slightly.

"I... what was in that drink?" she muttered, her voice losing some of its edge. The warmth pooled lower, a subtle thrum between her thighs that had no clear source, heightening every sensation without warning.

Jeremy leaned forward, his intense gaze steady. "Just water, Cora. To help you focus." Inside, a mix of protectiveness and darker possession stirred. The serum was working, softening her mental resistance while awakening her body in ways she couldn't yet name. He felt the weight of his choice settle, but the path ahead felt inevitable.

Cora rubbed her arms, the flush intensifying. Her usual fire flickered, replaced by a vague confusion that made her arguments falter. "It feels... warm. Like everything's too much." She looked at him, emerald eyes softer than before, the first cracks in her defiance showing under the chemical influence.

Jeremy stood, circling the desk to stand near her chair. "Perhaps it's time you listened instead of fighting every word. The family expects better from you." His hand rested lightly on her shoulder, the touch sending an unintended spark through her heightened nerves.

She didn't pull away immediately, her body responding with that new, unexplained sensitivity. The argument had run its course, leaving her flushed and uncertain, the serum's initial effects weaving through her system like a quiet promise of change. Jeremy watched, calculating the next steps even as the household settled around them once more.
