The pen felt heavier than it should. Eloneta Morgana stared at the elegant Montblanc in her hand, the cool metal pressing against her fingers, and wondered if her father had ever held this same weight. The boardroom was a tomb of polished mahogany and cold glass, the late afternoon Las Vegas sun slicing through the blinds in golden bars that fell across the contract like prison stripes.
She read the words again. Marriage. Merger. Territory consolidation. The language was clinical, stripped of romance, a business transaction dressed in legal jargon. Her family's remaining assets transferred to Ferraro control. Her hand in exchange for protection. Her life as the price of survival.
Across the table, Mercer Ferraro sat like a statue carved from shadow and sin. He hadn't spoken in twenty minutes, hadn't moved except to rest his hands flat on the polished surface. His suit was black, immaculate, the fabric stretching over shoulders that spoke of violence contained. His eyes were darker than the wood, fixed on her with an intensity that made her skin prickle.
"Your father's signature is already in place," her lawyer said, his voice too loud in the silence. He was a thin man with a nervous twitch, one of her father's old associates who couldn't meet Mercer's gaze. "Everything is in order, Miss Morgana. You just need to sign."
Just. As if signing away her future was a simple act of paperwork.
Eloneta's throat tightened. Her father was in hiding, his empire crumbled, his debts called in by enemies who would have torn their family apart if she hadn't agreed to this. She had done it to protect her mother, her younger sister, the remnants of the Morgana name.
She looked at Mercer. He didn't smile. He didn't nod encouragement. He simply watched, a hunter waiting for prey to stop struggling.
"I don't have a choice," she said. It wasn't a question.
"No," Mercer replied. His voice was low, the kind of voice that didn't need volume to command attention. "You don't."
The truth of it landed like a blow. She wanted to hate him for it. She did hate him for it. But hate wouldn't save her family. Hate wouldn't pay the debts or stop the bullets.
She signed.
The scratch of the pen on paper was the only sound. Each page, each signature, each initial felt like a lock clicking shut on a cage. When she finished, she set the pen down and pushed the contract across the table.
"There," she said, her voice steadier than she felt. "It's done."
The lawyer gathered the papers, his hands trembling slightly. He looked at Mercer for instruction, a dog waiting for its master's command.
"Leave us," Mercer said.
The lawyer hesitated. "Mr. Ferraro, the formalities are complete, but I should be present for the witness signature."
"I said leave us."
The words were ice. The lawyer went pale, nodded, and fled the room, the door clicking shut behind him.
Eloneta's heart began to pound. She didn't move. She kept her hands flat on the table, her spine straight, her chin lifted. She would not show fear. She would not give him that satisfaction.
Mercer stood. The movement was slow, deliberate, a predator rising from its crouch. He walked around the table, his footsteps silent on the carpet, and stopped behind her. She could feel the heat of him, the sheer physical presence of his body so close to hers.
"The ink is dry," he said, his voice close to her ear. "But a marriage is not made of paper, Eloneta."
She turned her head slightly, enough to see him out of the corner of her eye. "What else do you want from me?"
"Everything."
The word sent a shiver down her spine. She tried to suppress it, but she knew he saw. He saw everything.
He moved around to face her, his body blocking the light. He reached down and took her chin between his thumb and forefinger, tilting her face up to meet his gaze. His touch was firm, possessive, the calluses on his fingers rough against her skin.
"The contract binds your name to mine," he said. "But I want a more personal seal. A private one."
"You want a kiss."
"I want a claiming."
Her breath caught. She wanted to refuse, to spit in his face, to tell him that he could own the paper but he would never own her. But the words died in her throat. There was something in his eyes, a hunger, that made her feel like prey caught in a trap.
"You don't have to do this," she said, hating how small her voice sounded.
"No," he agreed. "I don't have to. I want to."
He leaned in. She turned her face away, her jaw tight, her body rigid with refusal. His hand moved from her chin to her jaw, gripping harder, forcing her to look at him.
"Don't make this harder than it needs to be."
"Or what? You'll hurt me?"
His eyes flickered with something that might have been amusement. "No, Eloneta. I'll make you feel good. And you'll hate yourself for it."
The arrogance of the statement made her furious. She opened her mouth to argue, and that was when he took her.
His mouth claimed hers, hard and demanding, no gentleness, no hesitation. His hand slid from her jaw to the back of her neck, fingers threading through her hair, holding her in place. His lips were warm, firm, moving over hers with a confidence that stole her breath.
She kept her mouth closed. She would not give him this. She would not surrender.
He bit her lower lip, just hard enough to sting. The shock of it made her gasp, and he used the opening, his tongue sliding into her mouth, tasting her, taking her. He kissed like he owned her, like her mouth was his territory and he was staking a claim.
She pushed against his chest. It was like pushing against a wall. He didn't budge. He deepened the kiss, one hand still in her hair, the other sliding down to her waist, pulling her against him.
The heat of his body seeped through her dress. The scent of him, something dark and expensive, filled her senses. Her heart was pounding so hard she could hear it in her ears, a frantic drumbeat that drowned out everything else.
He broke the kiss and looked down at her, his eyes burning. "Stand up."
"No."
He didn't argue. He grabbed her by the arms and pulled her to her feet, spinning her around and pressing her back against the edge of the table. The wood bit into her spine, cold and unforgiving. He caged her in, his hands on either side of her hips, his body a wall of heat and muscle.
"You're going to learn something about me, Eloneta." His voice was almost a growl. "I don't ask. I take. And right now, I'm taking what's mine."
"I'm not yours."
"You signed the contract. You're mine."
She shook her head, her hair falling across her face. "The contract is business. This is different."
"Is it?" He leaned in, his lips brushing her ear. "Your body doesn't seem to think so."
She felt the heat rise to her cheeks. She hated that he could see it, that he could feel the tension in her muscles, the way her breath had quickened. She hated that her nipples had tightened against the silk of her dress, that there was a warmth pooling low in her belly that had nothing to do with fear.
He pulled back just enough to look at her. His eyes traveled down her body, slow and deliberate, taking in every curve, every line. When he looked back at her face, there was satisfaction in his gaze.
"You're beautiful when you fight," he said. "But it's pointless. You are mine now. The sooner you accept that, the easier this will be."
"I'll never accept it."
"Then we'll have fun breaking you."
He kissed her again, harder this time, more demanding. One hand left the table and slid down her side, tracing the curve of her hip, the dip of her waist. His palm was hot through the thin fabric of her dress, his touch confident and possessive.
She tried to push him away again, but her hands were weak against his chest. Her body was betraying her, responding to his touch in ways she couldn't control. The heat in her belly spread lower, becoming something wet and aching.
His hand moved to the slit in her dress, fingers finding the bare skin of her thigh above her stocking. She tensed, her breath hitching as his fingers traced upward, calloused tips dragging over the sensitive skin of her inner thigh. He moved slowly, deliberately, giving her time to stop him, knowing she wouldn't.
"Tell me to stop," he murmured against her lips. "Tell me and I will."
She couldn't. The words wouldn't come. Her mouth opened, but all that escaped was a soft, breathless sound that betrayed her completely.
His fingers reached the edge of her panties, felt the damp silk there. He groaned, a low, guttural sound that vibrated through her chest. "You're so wet for me," he said, the words filthy and dark. "Your mouth says no, but your body knows the truth."
She wanted to deny it. She wanted to scream at him, to claw at his face, to do anything to stop the shame that burned through her. But her body was beyond her control. Her hips shifted, pressing into his hand, seeking more pressure, more friction.
He smiled against her lips. It was a hunter's smile, knowing and cruel.
"That's it," he whispered. "Let it happen. Let me in."
His fingers slipped beneath the silk, finding her slick heat, and she gasped against his mouth. He stroked her slowly, one finger sliding through her wetness, finding the swollen bud at her center and circling it with maddening patience. Her knees buckled, and only his body pressing her against the table kept her upright.
"Feel what I do to you," he said, his voice rough against her ear. "Feel how your body responds to me. You can pretend you hate this, but your cunt is weeping for me."
The crude word sent a jolt through her. She should have been disgusted. Instead, the heat in her belly flared, and another rush of wetness coated his fingers.
He slipped one finger inside her, and she moaned despite herself. The sound was raw, desperate, nothing like the controlled woman she had been minutes ago. He curled it, finding a spot deep inside her that made her vision blur, and began to stroke.
"That's it," he said. "Let me feel you. Let me hear you."
She was shaking. Her hands gripped the edge of the table behind her, knuckles white, her head thrown back. His thumb found her clit and pressed, rubbing in slow circles while his finger worked inside her. The pleasure built, wave after wave, each one higher than the last.
"You're close," he murmured. "I can feel it. You're clenching around my finger. You want to come, don't you?"
"No," she gasped, but her hips were grinding against his hand, seeking more, chasing the release that was building inside her like a storm.
"Liar," he whispered, and added a second finger.
The stretch made her cry out. He pumped them slowly, then faster, his thumb relentless on her clit. The pressure was unbearable, the pleasure a blade that cut through her resistance. She was going to come. She was going to come on his hand in a boardroom in Las Vegas, and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
"Come for me, Eloneta," he said, his command rough. "Come for me now."
She shattered. Her body convulsed, her inner walls clenching around his fingers, a cry tearing from her throat that she couldn't control. Wave after wave of pleasure crashed through her, her vision going white, her body arching off the table. He didn't stop, his fingers still moving, drawing out every last tremor until she was left limp and gasping, her body trembling in the aftermath.
He withdrew his hand slowly, deliberately, and brought his fingers to his mouth. He tasted her, his eyes never leaving hers, and the sight of it made her flush with shame and something else, something she refused to name.
"Sweet," he said. "Like I knew you'd be."
He stepped back, leaving her leaning against the table, trembling, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Her dress was disheveled, her hair falling from its pins, her thighs still shaking. She looked ruined, and he looked satisfied.
"You can hate me all you want, Mrs. Ferraro," he said, his voice low. "But your body knows the truth."
He turned and walked to the door. He paused with his hand on the handle, looking back over his shoulder.
"Pelion will take you to the penthouse. I have business to finish. But I'll see you tonight."
He left.
Eloneta stood there, bent over the table, her hands gripping the edge so hard her knuckles were white. Her heart was pounding. Her body was aching. And somewhere deep inside her, buried under the shame and the anger and the fear, a tiny spark of something else had been lit.
She hated him.
But she couldn't stop thinking about his hands on her.

But she couldn't stop thinking about his hands on her.
Penthouse Captive
The elevator ascended through the Ferraro tower in a whisper of polished steel and soft ambient light. Eloneta stood with her back against the mirrored wall, her reflection a ghost she barely recognized. The marriage contract sat heavy in her clutch, its weight more symbolic than physical. She had signed away her name, her future, everything she once called her own. And yet.
And yet her lips still burned from his kiss.
Mercer stood beside her, a dark pillar of controlled power. His suit jacket hung perfectly across broad shoulders, not a single thread out of place. He watched the floor numbers climb with an expression of absolute calm, as if he had not just claimed her in a boardroom like a territory won at war.
"You're quiet," he said, not looking at her.
"What would you like me to say?"
"The truth, for once."
Eloneta turned to face him fully. The elevator walls reflected them back, his dark eyes meeting hers in the glass. "The truth is that I don't know what I'm supposed to feel. Relief that my father's debt is paid? Terror that I'm married to a man who could kill me in my sleep?"
Mercer's lips curved, a ghost of amusement. "If I wanted you dead, Eloneta, I wouldn't have married you. I find live wives far more useful."
"Useful." The word tasted like ash.
"Powerful," he corrected, finally turning to face her. "You're powerful now. You just haven't realized it yet."
The elevator chimed and the doors slid open onto a foyer of black marble and gold accents. Eloneta stepped out and stopped, her breath catching in her throat.
The penthouse was a palace suspended above the Las Vegas strip. Floor to ceiling windows curved along three walls, offering a panoramic view of the city's glittering spine. The interior was all dark wood and cream leather, modern art pieces that probably cost more than her father's entire estate. A grand piano sat in one corner, its surface gleaming under recessed lighting. The air smelled of sandalwood and something floral, expensive and unfamiliar.
"This is yours now," Mercer said, stepping past her into the space. "Our bedroom is through there. You'll have your own closet, your own bathroom. The kitchen is fully stocked. Anything you want, you ask Pelion or call down to concierge."
Eloneta walked to the windows, pressing her palm against the cool glass. The city sprawled beneath her, a constellation of neon and ambition. She could see the Ferraro casino directly below, its sign a crown of crimson fire.
"It's beautiful," she said quietly.
"It's power. You'll learn the difference."
She turned to find him watching her with that intensity she was beginning to recognize. The look that stripped away pretense and saw straight to bone.
"Why did you choose me?" she asked. "There were other heiresses. Other families with more to offer."
Mercer crossed the room slowly, each step deliberate. He stopped a foot away, close enough that she could smell his cologne, warm and sharp. "Because you're not like them. They would have begged. They would have wept. You signed your name without a tear."
"I was too numb to cry."
"No." He reached out, fingers brushing a strand of hair from her face. "You were too proud. I saw it in the boardroom. The way your hand shook but your voice didn't. You have fire, Eloneta. I intend to stoke it."
His touch lingered on her cheek, warm and rough. She should have pulled away. Every instinct born from years of training told her to maintain distance, to protect herself. But her body refused to obey. She leaned into his hand, just slightly.
And then the lights went out.
The city vanished behind the windows, swallowed by sudden darkness. The penthouse plunged into black, only the faint glow of distant neon filtering through the glass. Eloneta's heart lurched. She stepped back instinctively, her shoulder blades meeting the cold window.
"Don't move," Mercer said, his voice calm. "I'll find the candles."
She heard his footsteps retreat, measured and sure. He knew this space blindfolded. She, on the other hand, was a stranger in a tomb of shadows. Her breathing quickened.
"Mercer."
"I'm here." A click, then a flicker of light. He had found a lighter, its small flame casting dancing shadows across his face. He lit a candle on the sideboard, then another, the warm glow spreading like honey through the room. "The generators will kick in soon. But I thought you might prefer this."
Eloneta let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. The candlelight softened everything, turned the sharp edges of the penthouse into something almost romantic. Mercer moved through the space with fluid grace, lighting more candles until the room glowed amber and gold.
"You planned this," she said, a suspicion dawning.
He turned, a candle in his hand, his expression unreadable. "I planned nothing. But I adapt."
"Convenient."
"Fate." He set the candle down and walked toward her, the flame casting his face in relief. "Come. Let me show you our home."
He offered his hand. She stared at it for a long moment, then took it. His fingers closed around hers, warm and sure.
He led her through the penthouse by candlelight. The living room gave way to a study lined with books and a desk of dark mahogany. The dining room held a table that could seat twelve, its surface reflecting the flickering flames. The kitchen was a marvel of marble and stainless steel, professional grade.
And then the bedroom.
It was massive, the bed a platform of dark wood with crisp white linens. More candles flickered on the nightstands, casting the space in intimate shadow. The windows here faced the mountains, dark silhouettes against a star-scattered sky.
Eloneta stood in the doorway, her heart pounding. This was where she would sleep. Where she would wake. Where she would share a bed with a man she barely knew.
Mercer released her hand and walked to the window, his back to her. "You're afraid."
"I'm cautious."
"There's a difference?"
"Fear is paralysis. Caution is awareness." She stepped into the room, her heels clicking on the hardwood. "I'm aware that I'm alone with a man who controls half of Las Vegas. I'm aware that I signed a contract that makes me your property. And I'm aware that despite all of that, I'm still standing here."
He turned, and the candlelight caught the hunger in his eyes. "You're not my property, Eloneta. You're my wife. There's a difference."
"Is there?"
"Property can't fight back. You will." He closed the distance between them, his steps slow. "You'll challenge me. You'll defy me. And I'll enjoy every moment of breaking that defiance down into something beautiful."
Her breath caught. "You think you can break me?"
"I think I can transform you." He stopped inches away, his hand rising to cup her jaw. "There's a woman inside you, Eloneta. One who wants to be claimed. Who wants to surrender. I can see her in your eyes, in the way your pulse races when I touch you."
"You're arrogant."
"I'm honest." His thumb traced her lower lip, featherlight. "Tell me you don't feel this. Tell me you didn't think about that kiss all the way up the elevator."
She couldn't. Because she had. Every second of the ride, she had replayed the feeling of his mouth on hers, the way his body had pressed her into the table, the heat that had pooled low in her belly despite her resistance.
Her silence was answer enough.
Mercer's hand slid to the back of her neck, fingers tangling in her hair. "I'm going to kiss you now. And you're going to kiss me back. Because we're past pretending, you and I."
He didn't wait for permission. His mouth claimed hers, slow and deep, a deliberate exploration rather than the punishing dominance of the boardroom. This was different. This was a seduction.
Eloneta's hands rose to his chest, not to push him away but to steady herself. His lips were warm, his tongue sweeping against hers with a rhythm that made her knees weak. She kissed him back, tentatively at first, then with growing hunger.
He groaned against her mouth, a sound of approval. His hands moved down her back, tracing the curve of her spine, settling on her hips. He pulled her closer, and she felt the hard length of him pressed against her thigh.
"I want to touch you," he murmured against her lips. "Everywhere. I want to learn every inch of this body until you forget where you end and I begin."
Eloneta's breath came in shallow gasps. "Mercer."
"Say yes." His lips trailed down her jaw, her throat. "Give me permission, Eloneta. I'll take the rest myself."
She should say no. She should maintain distance, protect her heart, remember that this was a business arrangement. But the candlelight and the darkness and the way his mouth felt on her skin had stripped away all reason.
"Yes," she whispered.
He pulled back just enough to look at her, his eyes dark with want. Then he lifted her, his hands gripping her thighs as she wrapped her legs around his waist. He carried her to the bed and laid her down on the white linens, the candles casting his face in gold and shadow.
He undressed her slowly. Each button of her blouse came undone with deliberate care. He parted the fabric and pressed his lips to her collarbone, then the hollow of her throat, then the swell of her breasts above her lace bra. She arched into him, her fingers gripping his shoulders.
"So beautiful," he murmured against her skin. "I knew you would be. But the reality is something else entirely."
He removed her blouse completely, letting it fall somewhere in the shadows. His mouth found the curve of her breast, tongue tracing the edge of her lace bra while his hands worked the clasp at her back. When the fabric fell away, he paused to look at her, his gaze heavy-lidded with desire.
"Perfect," he breathed, and lowered his mouth to her nipple.
Eloneta gasped, her back arching off the bed. His tongue circled the tight peak, then his lips closed around it, sucking gently. Heat shot through her, pooling between her thighs. He gave the same attention to her other breast, his hand kneading the first, thumb brushing the wet nipple until she squirmed beneath him.
"You respond so beautifully," he said against her skin. "Every sound you make, I want more of it."
His mouth traveled lower, pressing open-mouthed kisses down her ribs, across her stomach. His tongue dipped into her navel, and she whimpered. He unzipped her skirt and slid it down her hips, his palms hot against her skin. She lay before him in nothing but a scrap of lace and the candlelight, exposed and aching.
He sat back, his gaze traveling over her with an appreciation that made her skin flush. "Now you," she said, her voice steadier than she expected.
His lips curved. "Bossy."
"You said I had fire."
He laughed, a low sound of genuine amusement. Then he stood and undressed, his movements unhurried. The candlelight played across his body, revealing planes of muscle, the scars that mapped his history, the dark hair that trailed down his chest and below his navel.
He was beautiful. Dangerous. And completely focused on her.
He rejoined her on the bed, his body covering hers, warm and solid. The press of his bare chest against her sensitive skin made her moan. He kissed her again, deeper this time, his tongue sliding against hers as his hand slid down her stomach to the edge of her underwear. He paused, his lips brushing her ear.
"Tell me what you want."
"I want you to touch me."
"Where?"
She swallowed, her cheeks burning. "Everywhere."
He smiled against her skin. "Good answer."
His hand slid beneath the lace, finding her wet and ready. She gasped as his fingers parted her, sliding through the slick heat before circling the sensitive nub with practiced precision. He watched her face, cataloging every reaction, every moan that escaped her lips.
"You're so wet for me," he said, his voice rough. "I've barely touched you and you're already dripping."
She couldn't form words. His fingers worked her with a rhythm that built pressure low in her belly, coiling tight. One finger slipped inside her, then two, curling to find the spot that made her see stars. She gripped the sheets, her hips rising to meet his hand.
"Not yet," he said, pulling back. "I want to taste you first."
He moved down her body, pressing kisses along her stomach, the jut of her hip bones, the sensitive skin of her inner thighs. He removed her underwear with his teeth, a gesture so intimate it made her breath catch. Then his mouth was on her, hot and skilled, and she lost all ability to think.
He devoured her. His tongue traced long, slow patterns through her folds before focusing on the swollen bud of her clit. He circled it, flicked it, then sucked gently while his fingers pressed deep inside her, curling and thrusting in a rhythm that made her mind blank. She cried out, her hips bucking against his mouth, her hands fisting in his hair. He groaned against her, the vibration pushing her higher, his tongue relentless.
"Mercer, I'm going to."
"Let go," he said against her, his breath hot on her swollen flesh. "Come for me, Eloneta. I want to feel you on my tongue."
The command broke her. She shattered, waves of pleasure crashing through her in pulses that made her whole body tremble. He didn't stop, his mouth working her through every aftershock, drinking her climax until she collapsed, oversensitive and trembling, into the sheets.
He crawled up her body, his mouth finding hers. She tasted herself on his lips, musky and intimate, and the sweetness of it made her want him even more. She reached down, her fingers wrapping around his length, hot and hard in her hand. He groaned, his hips jerking forward.
"I want you inside me," she said.
His eyes darkened. "Say it again."
"I want you inside me, Mercer. Now."
He positioned himself at her entrance, the broad head of him pressing against her slick opening. His gaze locked on hers. "This is the moment you become mine. Not on paper. Not in a boardroom. Here, in this bed, by candlelight. Do you understand?"
She nodded, her heart pounding.
"Say it."
"I understand."
He pushed inside her slowly, inch by inch, stretching her, filling her. She gasped at the sensation, the thick fullness of him pressing deep. He paused when he was fully sheathed, his forehead pressed to hers, both of them breathing hard.
"You feel incredible," he said, his voice strained. "Tight and wet. Like you were made for this. For me."
He began to move, a rhythm that started slow and deep. Each thrust pressed him against that spot inside her that made stars burst behind her eyes. She wrapped her legs around him, pulling him deeper, desperate for more.
"Look at me," he commanded.
She met his eyes, and the connection was overwhelming. He was inside her, around her, consuming her. And she didn't want to escape. She wanted to be devoured.
His pace quickened, his control slipping. His thrusts grew harder, faster, each one driving her into the mattress. He reached between them, his thumb finding her clit, circling it in time with his movements. The dual sensation pushed her toward another peak, faster this time, the pressure building like a storm.
"You're so tight," he growled. "I can feel you clenching around me. You're close again, aren't you?"
"Yes," she gasped, her nails digging into his shoulders.
"Come with me," he said, his voice a growl. "Now, Eloneta."
She obeyed. Her orgasm crashed over her in waves, her inner walls clenching and pulsing around him. She felt him follow, his body shuddering as he drove deep one final time, spilling into her with a groan that vibrated through her chest. They clung to each other in the aftermath, breathing ragged, skin slick with sweat, his forehead pressed to hers as the last tremors faded.
He rolled off her, pulling her against his side. The candles still flickered, casting their shadows on the ceiling. Eloneta rested her head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat slow.
"That wasn't part of the contract," she said quietly.
His arm tightened around her. "The contract is what we make of it. And I intend to make it everything."
She closed her eyes, her body still humming. She had come here as a captive, a pawn in a game she didn't understand. But in the candlelight, in his arms, something unexpected bloomed in her chest.
She felt wanted.
And that was more dangerous than any contract she could sign.
High Roller Night
The black velvet of my gown whispered against my thighs as I studied my reflection in the penthouse mirror. Mercer had sent it up an hour ago, along with a note that read simply: Tonight, you shine.
I traced the plunging neckline, the way the fabric hugged every curve. It had been three days since I'd become Mrs. Ferraro. Three days since that candlelit night that had rewritten everything I thought I knew about my own body.
Isabella appeared behind me in the glass, her auburn curls bouncing as she fastened a diamond bracelet around my wrist. "You look like a queen."
"I feel like a fraud."
"You feel like a woman who's about to walk into a room full of sharks and come out on top." She squeezed my shoulder. "That's not fraud. That's power."
I turned to face her. "He wants to show me off tonight."
"Of course he does. You're his wife. His most valuable asset."
The word stung. Asset. But wasn't that what I'd signed up for? A merger of empires sealed with a ring and a vow.
"And you're okay with that?" I asked.
Isabella's eyes softened. "I'm okay with you being safe. And happy. If Mercer Ferraro gives you both, then I'm okay with whatever label they put on it."
I took a breath and nodded. She was right. I had to trust the process. Trust him.
The casino floor was a cathedral of excess. Crystal chandeliers rained light over green felt tables where fortunes were made and lost in the span of a single card. The air carried notes of cigar smoke and expensive perfume, all of it underscored by the electric hum of wealth.
Mercer waited for me at the base of the grand staircase, a vision in black. His suit was immaculate, tailored to emphasize the breadth of his shoulders and the lean power of his frame. His dark eyes found me before I reached the bottom step, and something in them caught fire.
He extended his hand. "Mrs. Ferraro."
I placed my fingers in his. "Mr. Ferraro."
He lifted my hand to his lips, his gaze never leaving mine. "You're stunning."
"You're not so bad yourself."
A rare smile flickered at the corner of his mouth. Then he tucked my hand into the crook of his arm and led me into the casino.
The parade began immediately. Men in expensive suits approached, their eyes sliding over me with a mixture of appraisal and respect. Mercer introduced me with a hand on the small of my back, his thumb tracing small circles that sent shivers up my spine.
"This is my wife, Eloneta. We're celebrating our union tonight."
Each introduction was a claim. A declaration. I felt the weight of his possession like a physical thing, heavy and warm and strangely intoxicating.
We reached the high roller lounge, a private enclave guarded by men in earpieces. Inside, the stakes were higher, the faces more familiar from business magazines and crime reports. A long table dominated the center, surrounded by leather chairs and men who looked like they'd never lost a hand in their lives.
Mercer pulled out a chair for me. "Sit beside me. I want you close."
I settled into the leather, my gown pooling around me. He took the seat next to mine, close enough that his thigh pressed against mine beneath the table.
The game began. Texas Hold'em. Five players, each with a stack of chips that could buy a small country. Mercer played with the same controlled intensity he brought to everything else, his face unreadable as he studied his opponents.
I watched him. The way his fingers moved over the cards, the slight tension in his jaw when he bluffed, the quiet confidence that never wavered even when the pot grew astronomical.
He won hand after hand. The other players grew frustrated, their tells becoming more pronounced as their stacks shrank. Mercer remained calm, collected, a predator among prey.
During a break, he leaned close to my ear. "Do you know why I'm winning tonight?"
"Because you're a shark?"
"Because I have something worth winning for." His hand found my knee beneath the table, his thumb stroking the silk of my gown. "You're my lucky charm, Eloneta. Every time I look at you, I remember exactly what I'm fighting for."
My breath caught. The intimacy of his touch, the public setting, the way his words wrapped around me like a promise. I felt a warmth spread through my chest, something that had nothing to do with the champagne I'd been sipping.
The final hand came down to Mercer and a man named Victor, a rival from the east coast with cold eyes and a cruel mouth. The pot was enormous, enough to fund an entire operation for a year.
Mercer raised. Victor raised back. The tension in the room was a living thing, pressing against my skin.
Mercer looked at me. Really looked, like he was drawing strength from my presence. Then he pushed all his chips forward.
"All in."
Victor's face flickered. He studied his cards, studied Mercer, studied me. Finally, he folded with a curse.
Mercer revealed his hand. A pair of aces.
The room erupted. Men clapped him on the back, congratulating him on the win. He accepted their praise with a gracious nod, but his eyes were on me.
He stood and offered his hand. "Come. I want to celebrate with my wife."
I took his hand, and he led me through the casino, past the slot machines and the roulette tables, past the bar where a pianist played jazz standards. We reached a door marked PRIVATE, and he swiped a key card.
The room was small, elegant, with a single couch and a wall of mirrors. A private lounge for high rollers who needed a moment away from the floor.
Mercer closed the door behind us, and the lock clicked into place.
He turned to face me, his eyes dark with something that made my stomach flip. "Do you know what I wanted to do the moment I saw you on those stairs?"
"Tell me."
"Take you right there. In front of everyone. Show them all exactly who you belong to."
My heart pounded. "Mercer."
He stepped closer, his hands finding my waist. "But I waited. I played my game. I won. And now I'm going to collect my prize."
He pushed me back against the wall, the cool surface pressing through my gown. His body was a furnace against mine, his hands sliding up my sides, his mouth finding my throat.
"You were perfect tonight," he murmured against my skin. "Every man in that room wanted you. But you're mine."
"Yes."
He pulled back to look at me, his eyes searching mine. "Say it again."
"I'm yours, Mercer. Completely."
A sound escaped him, something between a growl and a groan. Then his mouth was on mine, fierce and demanding, his tongue sliding against my lips until I opened for him.
The kiss was different from the candlelit exploration of our first night. This was claiming. Urgent. Hungry. His teeth nipped at my lower lip, and I tasted the champagne on his tongue as it tangled with mine. He kissed me like he was staking a flag in conquered territory, his hands gripping my hips hard enough to leave marks I'd find tomorrow.
His hands found the zipper of my gown, and he pulled it down with practiced ease. The fabric pooled at my feet, leaving me in nothing but black lace and heels.
He stepped back, his gaze sweeping over me slowly, drinking in every inch. The heat in his eyes was almost unbearable. "Beautiful. Every inch of you."
"Your turn."
He laughed, low and dark. "Impatient, are we?"
"I've been watching you all night. Winning. Dominating. It's arousing."
His eyes flared. "Is that so?"
I reached for his belt, my fingers working the buckle. "I want to feel you against me. No more waiting."
He caught my wrists, pinning them above my head against the wall with one large hand. "Then let me take what I want."
His free hand traced down my body, skimming the swell of my breast, the curve of my waist, the flare of my hip. His touch was deliberate, possessive, claiming every inch he touched. When his fingers found the lace of my panties, he hooked them aside and then tore, the fabric giving way with a sharp rip that made me gasp.
"You won't need those," he said, his voice rough. "Not tonight. Not ever."
His fingers found me slick and ready, and he groaned against my neck as he stroked through my folds. "You're already so wet for me. Watching me play turned you on that much?"
"You know it did."
He circled my clit with his thumb, slow teasing pressure that made my knees buckle. His fingers slipped inside me, one then two, curling in a rhythm that had me writhing against the wall. I could hear how aroused I was, the wet sounds of his fingers moving in and out, and the obscenity of it only made me hotter.
"Mercer, please."
"Please what?"
"I need you inside me. Now."
He withdrew his fingers and lifted me, my legs wrapping around his waist, my back against the wall. The position was vulnerable, exposed, and I loved every second of it. I could feel the hard length of him through his trousers, pressing against my bare center, and I rolled my hips seeking friction.
"Patience," he murmured, but his voice was strained, his control fraying.
His mouth found my breast, teeth grazing my nipple through the lace of my bra. I arched into him, my fingers tangling in his hair and pulling. He tugged the fabric down with his teeth, exposing my nipple to the cool air before his mouth closed over it, hot and wet and perfect.
I cried out, my head falling back against the wall. He sucked and bit and licked until I was trembling, then turned his attention to the other breast, giving it the same torturous treatment.
"I've been thinking about this all night," he said against my skin. "Sitting at that table, cards in my hand, imagining what you'd feel like. What you'd sound like when I made you come."
"Then stop imagining."
He reached between us and freed himself from his trousers. I felt him at my entrance, thick and hard, the broad head pressing against my slick opening. He held there for a moment, torturous, his eyes locked on mine.
"Tell me you want this."
"I want this. I want you. Please, Mercer."
He thrust inside me, filling me completely in one smooth stroke. I cried out, the sound swallowed by his mouth on mine. The wall was cold against my back, but he was fire, burning away everything except the sensation of him stretching me, the fullness of him buried deep.
He held still for a moment, letting me adjust, his forehead pressed against mine. "You feel so good. So tight. So perfect."
"Move. Please."
He withdrew slowly until only the tip remained inside me, then drove back in hard. I gasped, my nails digging into his shoulders. He set a punishing rhythm, fast and deep, each thrust driving me higher. The mirrors on the opposite wall reflected our bodies, tangled and urgent, a portrait of possession. I watched us in the glass, my legs wrapped around his hips, my breasts bouncing with each thrust, his jaw clenched with effort.
"You feel that?" he asked, his voice strained. "You feel how perfect this is? How right?"
"Yes. Yes, Mercer."
"This is where you belong. In my arms. Against my body. Claimed."
The words sent a shockwave through me, pleasure and emotion colliding until I couldn't tell where one ended and the other began. I was his. Completely. And for the first time, I realized that wasn't a loss.
It was a gift.
His hand slipped between us, fingers finding my clit and pressing in circles that matched his rhythm. The added sensation was electric, each circle sending sparks through my nerve endings. I was close, so close, the edge approaching like a wave about to break.
"Come for me, Eloneta. Let me feel you."
The command was my undoing. I shattered against him, my walls clenching around his cock as pleasure ripped through me in waves. I screamed his name, my body convulsing, and I felt him swell inside me. He followed a moment later, his groan hot against my throat as he spilled inside me, his thrusts growing erratic as he rode out his release.
We stayed like that, tangled together, breathing hard, the mirrors reflecting our joined bodies. His weight pressed me against the wall, and I could feel his heart hammering against my chest, or maybe that was mine. I couldn't tell anymore where he ended and I began.
Finally, he lowered me to the floor, his hands steadying me as my legs wobbled. He pressed his lips to my shoulder, my collarbone, my jaw, small kisses that felt like worship.
He pressed a kiss to my forehead. "That was just the beginning."
"What do you mean?"
"We have a whole empire to build, Mrs. Ferraro. And I plan to celebrate every victory with you."
I smiled, leaning into him. "I think I can live with that."
He helped me back into my gown, his fingers lingering on my skin. When we left the private room, I felt different. Transformed.
The casino still hummed with energy, the games still played, the drinks still flowed. But I saw it all through new eyes.
I was Eloneta Ferraro. Wife of the don. Partner in an empire.
And I was just getting started.
Family Fractures
The penthouse felt different that morning. Eloneta noticed it before she could name it, a tension that threaded through the marble hallways like smoke through cracked glass. Mercer had been gone since dawn, called to some emergency at the Bellagio, and she had wandered into the kitchen to find Pelion standing guard with a look she had never seen on his face.
Worry.
"What's wrong?" she asked, pouring herself coffee. Her hand trembled slightly. She hated that it did.
Pelion's jaw tightened. "Nothing you need to concern yourself with, Mrs. Ferraro."
"Don't lie to me."
He met her eyes then, and something in his expression shifted. Respect, maybe. Or resignation. "There's been a breach. Someone leaked your father's old ledgers to the commission. They're calling for Mercer's head."
Eloneta's blood turned to ice. "My father's ledgers? Those were destroyed."
"Apparently not all of them."
She set down the coffee cup before she dropped it. Her mind raced through possibilities, through names and faces, through the web of connections her father had maintained. There was only one person who could have accessed those records. Only one person who had been at the warehouse the night it all fell apart.
"Marco," she whispered.
Pelion's eyes narrowed. "Your uncle?"
"He was there. When the FBI raided. He escaped before they could take him in." She pressed her hand to her chest, feeling her heart hammer against her ribs. "He's been hiding. Waiting."
"For what?"
"For me to be vulnerable." The words tasted like ash. "He always hated my father. Hated that a woman was set to inherit everything. He thinks I'm weak. That Mercer is a usurper."
Pelion was already reaching for his phone. "I need to tell Mercer."
"No." The word came out sharper than she intended. "Let me tell him. This is my family. My mess."
Pelion studied her for a long moment. Then he nodded once and stepped aside.
Mercer returned later that afternoon. Eloneta heard his footsteps in the hallway, the heavy rhythm of his boots against marble, and she rose from the couch where she had been waiting. Her palms were slick with sweat. Her throat felt tight.
He walked into the living room and stopped when he saw her. His dark eyes swept over her face, taking in her pale cheeks, her clenched fists, the rigid set of her shoulders like a soldier preparing for battle.
"You know," he said. It wasn't a question.
"Pelion told me."
"Then you know your uncle is behind this."
"Yes."
Mercer crossed the room in three long strides. He stopped inches from her, close enough that she could feel the heat radiating from his body, could smell the leather and gunpowder that clung to his suit. "He's already dead."
Eloneta's breath caught. "What?"
"I found him earlier. He was holed up in a warehouse on the outskirts of town. He had the ledgers. He had plans to deliver them to the commission tonight." Mercer's voice was flat, emotionless. "He won't be making that delivery."
She should have felt horror. She should have felt grief, or anger, or something other than the strange, hollow relief that flooded through her veins. But all she could think was that he had done it for her. He had eliminated the threat before she even had to ask.
"Mercer..."
"Don't." The word was sharp, cutting. He turned away from her, pacing toward the window that overlooked the Strip. His shoulders were rigid, his hands clenched at his sides. "Don't thank me. Don't apologize. Don't tell me it's your fault."
"It is my fault."
He spun around, and his eyes were blazing. "No. It's not. Your uncle was a traitor long before you were born. He would have found a way to betray you eventually. The only difference is that now he can't."
Eloneta stepped toward him. "You're angry."
"I'm not angry."
"You're furious."
He laughed, a harsh, bitter sound. "Of course I'm furious. Not at you. At myself. I should have seen this coming. I should have protected you better."
"You can't protect me from everything."
"I can damn well try."
She reached him and placed her hand on his chest. His heart was pounding, a wild rhythm that matched her own. "You can't control every variable, Mercer. You can't predict every betrayal. That's not failure. That's being human."
He caught her wrist, his grip firm but not painful. "I don't want to be human. I want to be the man who keeps you safe."
"You are that man."
"Then why do I feel like I'm failing?"
She didn't have an answer for that. So instead she rose on her toes and pressed her lips to his.
The kiss was soft at first, tentative. But Mercer groaned against her mouth, and his arms wrapped around her, pulling her against him with a desperate, possessive strength. His tongue swept into her mouth, and she tasted copper and salt, the remnants of violence and the promise of something darker.
"Eloneta," he growled against her lips. "I need you to understand something."
"What?"
"You're mine." His hand fisted in her hair, tilting her head back. "Your family. Your past. Your future. All of it. Mine."
"Yes."
"And I will burn this entire city to the ground before I let anyone take you from me."
She should have been afraid. The words should have sent ice through her veins. Instead they lit a fire in her chest, a fierce, possessive heat that matched his own.
"Then show me," she whispered. "Show me what that means."
He didn't need to be asked twice.
He lifted her, his hands gripping her thighs as she wrapped her legs around his waist. He carried her through the penthouse, past the kitchen and down the corridor, until they reached the master bedroom. He kicked the door open and then shut behind them.
The bed was massive, draped in dark silk, and he laid her down on it with a gentleness that contradicted the fire in his eyes. But that gentleness didn't last.
He stripped off his jacket, his tie, his shirt, revealing the hard planes of his chest, the scars that mapped his history across his skin. Eloneta watched him, her breath coming in short, sharp gasps. She wanted to touch him. She wanted to taste him.
"Undress," he commanded.
She obeyed, pulling her dress over her head, unhooking her bra, sliding her panties down her legs. She lay before him naked, vulnerable, and she had never felt more powerful.
Mercer's eyes roamed over her body, and the hunger in them made her core clench. "You're beautiful," he said, his voice rough. "So fucking beautiful."
"Then come claim me."
He did.
He crawled onto the bed, his body covering hers, his weight pressing her into the mattress. He kissed her again, harder this time, his teeth grazing her lower lip. She gasped, and he took the opportunity to deepen the kiss, his tongue stroking against hers.
His hand slid down her body, over her breasts, her stomach, until it settled between her thighs. He found her wet, ready, and he groaned against her mouth.
"You're so responsive," he murmured. "So perfect."
"Mercer, please."
"Please what?"
"Please fuck me."
The words seemed to break something in him. He positioned himself at her entrance, and then he thrust inside her in one smooth, brutal motion.
Eloneta cried out, her back arching off the bed. He was thick, filling her completely, and the stretch was delicious and overwhelming. He didn't give her time to adjust. He began to move, his hips slamming against hers, each thrust deep and punishing.
"This is what you do to me," he growled, his forehead pressed against hers. "You make me lose control."
"I want you to lose control."
"You have no idea what you're asking for."
"Then show me."
He flipped her onto her stomach, pulling her hips up so she was on her hands and knees. He entered her from behind, and the new angle drove him even deeper. He gripped her hips, his fingers digging into her flesh, and he fucked her with a desperation that bordered on violence.
Eloneta buried her face in the pillows, moaning as he drove into her again and again. The pleasure was building, coiling in her core like a spring wound too tight. She was close. So close.
"Look at me."
She turned her head, meeting his eyes over her shoulder. His gaze was dark, possessive, and it sent a shiver down her spine.
"I want to see your face when you come."
He reached around, his fingers finding her clit, and he circled it roughly, in time with his thrusts. The added stimulation was too much. Her orgasm crashed over her, a wave of heat and pleasure that left her trembling.
Mercer followed moments later, his body shuddering as he spilled inside her. He collapsed on top of her, his weight a comforting pressure, his breath hot against her neck.
They lay there for a long moment, tangled together, breathing in sync. Eloneta felt tears prick at her eyes, and she blinked them away.
"I trust you," she whispered.
Mercer's arms tightened around her. "I know."
"No, I mean it. I trust you with my life. With my family's legacy. With everything."
He lifted his head, his eyes searching hers. "I won't let you down."
"I know."
And for the first time since her father died, Eloneta believed it.
Empire Building
The conference room smelled of leather and tension. Eloneta sat at the head of the table, her fingers steepled as she studied the contract spread before her. Across from her, Marcus Chen and his legal team waited with barely concealed impatience.
Mercer stood by the window, his back to the room, giving her space to work. She felt his presence like a heat source, but she forced herself to focus on the numbers.
"The profit split is unacceptable," she said, her voice steady. "Forty sixty in your favor doesn't reflect the resources we're bringing to this partnership."
Marcus Chen leaned forward. "Miss Morgana, your family's reputation has taken hits recently. We're taking a risk."
Eloneta smiled, a slow deliberate curve of her lips. "Mr. Chen, the Morgana name has survived worse. And you're not just getting my family's connections. You're getting Ferraro protection. You're getting reach into markets that have been closed to you."
She slid a revised contract across the table. "Fifty five forty five in my favor. And I want first option on the next three developments in your pipeline."
Chen's eyes widened. "That's aggressive."
"That's business." Eloneta sat back, crossing her legs. She wore a navy suit, severe and elegant, and she knew she looked nothing like the trembling bride who had signed her marriage contract weeks ago.
The silence stretched. Mercer turned from the window, his dark eyes fixed on her with something that looked like pride. Or maybe hunger. She couldn't tell which.
Chen picked up the contract. He read it slowly, his jaw tightening. Then he set it down and extended his hand.
"You drive a hard bargain, Mrs. Ferraro."
Eloneta shook his hand, her grip firm. "I'm just getting started."
The deal closed shortly after. Chen and his team filed out, leaving Eloneta and Mercer alone in the conference room. The door clicked shut, and the silence that followed felt heavy with possibility.
Mercer circled the table slowly, his footsteps muffled by the plush carpet. "You negotiated that like you've been doing it for years."
Eloneta gathered her papers, not looking at him. "I paid attention."
"You did more than that." He stopped beside her chair, close enough that his cologne reached her, sandalwood with an undertone of something darker. "You owned that room. They didn't know what hit them."
She finally looked up at him. His eyes were dark, intense, and she saw the heat there. The same heat that had been building between them since the night of the ambush, since he had held her in the desert and shown her what it meant to be truly claimed.
"I want my reward," she said.
Mercer's eyebrows lifted. "Oh?"
She stood, stepping into his space. She was tall in her heels, but he still towered over her. She reached up and undid the top button of his shirt.
"Tonight, I lead," she said. "And I'm in control."
Something flickered in his eyes. Surprise first, then a dark approval that made her stomach tighten.
"Is that so?" His voice was low, rough.
"That's so." She undid another button. "You've claimed me in your boardroom and your penthouse. You took me in the desert. Tonight, I claim you."
He caught her wrists, gently but firmly. "And if I don't want to give up control?"
She met his gaze, steady and unflinching. "Then you don't get your reward either."
The silence stretched. She felt his pulse under her fingers, fast and strong. He was considering it, weighing the risk against the pleasure.
Then he released her wrists and sat down in the chair at the head of the table.
"Show me," he said.
Her heart hammered, but she didn't let him see her nerves. She moved slowly, deliberately, circling behind him. She placed her hands on his shoulders, feeling the tension in his muscles.
"Hands on the table," she said.
He complied, spreading his palms flat on the polished wood. She leaned down, her lips brushing his ear.
"You don't move until I tell you."
His breath caught. She felt the shiver run through him, and power surged through her veins. This was different. Her choice. Her pace. The control was hers.
She walked around to face him, then lowered herself to her knees between his spread legs. He watched her, his eyes dark and hungry, but he didn't move. He kept his hands on the table.
She reached for his belt, undoing it with deliberate slowness. His breathing quickened. She unbuttoned his trousers, pulled down the zipper, and freed him from his boxer briefs.
He was already hard, thick and ready for her. She wrapped her hand around him, feeling the heat of his skin, the velvet over steel. She stroked him once, twice, watching his face as she did.
"You're going to let me take what I want?" she asked.
"Yes." His voice was strained.
She leaned forward, her breath warm against him, and let her tongue trace the length of him first. A slow, wet path from base to tip that made his thighs tense beneath her hands. She tasted the salt of his skin, felt the pulse of blood beneath the surface, and took her time. This was her show now.
When she finally took him into her mouth, she did it slowly. Inch by inch, her lips stretching around him, her tongue pressing flat against the underside as she descended. He groaned, his hips twitching, but he didn't move. He kept his hands on the table, just as she'd told him.
She controlled the pace. Slow and deep, taking him to the back of her throat before pulling back. She found the rhythm that made his breath hitch, the pressure that made his fingers curl against the polished wood. She swirled her tongue around the head, then took him deep again, establishing a rhythm that built him higher with each stroke.
His breathing grew ragged. She could feel him fighting himself, the instinct to thrust warring with his promise to let her lead. She pulled back, letting her lips drag along his length, then took him deep again. His groan vibrated through her, and she felt a rush of wetness between her own thighs.
She brought him to the edge, feeling him throb against her tongue. His stomach was tight, his jaw clenched, and she could tell he was close. So close.
And then she stopped.
He made a sound, a low desperate sound that she had never heard from him before. She looked up at him, her lips still wet, her hand still wrapped around him.
"Not yet," she said.
She stood, unbuttoning her suit jacket and letting it fall to the floor. She unzipped her skirt, letting it pool at her feet. She stood before him in nothing but her heels and stockings. The garter belt she had chosen deliberately framed her hips.
"Touch me," she said.
His hands came to her hips, pulling her close. He pressed his mouth to her stomach, then traced a path up to her ribs. His lips found the curve of her breast. She tangled her fingers in his hair, guiding him, directing where she wanted his mouth.
When his lips found her nipple, she arched into him, a moan escaping her throat. He sucked gently, then harder, and she pulled his head away.
"I'm not done directing," she said.
He grinned, a flash of white teeth. "I'm at your command."
She pushed him back in the chair and straddled him, her knees on either side of his thighs. She could feel the heat of him against her core, the hard length of him pressing against her wetness. She rocked her hips forward, just once, letting him feel how ready she was. How wet. He hissed through his teeth.
"Look at me," she said.
He did. His eyes were dark, focused, completely on her.
She reached between them, positioning him at her entrance. She was slick, swollen, and she wanted him so badly it ached. But she didn't rush. She lowered herself onto him, inch by inch, taking him inside her with deliberate control that made them both gasp.
She sat fully, feeling him deep inside her, and paused. She let herself adjust to the fullness, the stretch, the way he filled her completely. His hands gripped the armrests, his knuckles white, and she could see the effort it took him to stay still.
Then she began to move.
She rode him slowly at first, finding the angle that made stars burst behind her eyes. She watched his face as she moved. His jaw tightened. His eyes glazed with pleasure. He was letting her do this. He was surrendering his control to her.
The power of it made her dizzy.
She increased her pace, her hips rolling against his in a rhythm that grew faster, more urgent. Her hands braced on his shoulders, her nails digging into the fabric of his shirt. He gripped her hips, his fingers pressing into her flesh, but he didn't try to take over. He let her set the rhythm, and that surrender was its own kind of power.
She leaned forward, changing the angle, and the sensation shifted from pleasure to something sharper, more intense. She gasped, her hips stuttering, and he groaned beneath her.
"You feel so good," she breathed.
"You feel perfect." His voice was ragged. "You're perfect."
She leaned forward, her forehead against his. "I want to come with you inside me."
"Then come." His hands slid up her back, pulling her closer. "Take what you need."
She did. She rode him harder, faster, chasing the pleasure that built low in her belly. She felt it coiling inside her, tightening with each thrust, each roll of her hips. She could feel him swelling inside her, felt his control fraying at the edges.
"Eloneta." Her name was a warning and a plea.
"I know," she gasped. "I can feel you. I want you to let go."
He groaned, his head falling back, and she watched his face as she pushed them both over the edge. The orgasm crashed through her, hot and blinding. She cried out, her body clenching around him in waves, and she felt him follow, his release pulsing inside her as he groaned her name again. The heat of him filled her, and she milked him with her body, riding out every last tremor until they were both spent.
She collapsed against him, her breath coming in ragged gasps. He held her, his arms wrapped around her, his face buried in her hair.
They stayed like that for a long moment, tangled together in the leather chair in the room where she had claimed her place in his empire.
Finally, she lifted her head. "Did I earn my place?"
Mercer laughed, a low rumble against her chest. "You earned more than that. You proved you belong beside me, not behind me."
She smiled, feeling the truth of his words settle into her bones. She was no longer the reluctant bride, the hesitant heiress. She was Eloneta Ferraro, and she was building an empire of her own.
Later, they dressed in comfortable silence. Mercer helped her with her skirt, his hands lingering on her hips.
"There's more work tomorrow," he said. "Another deal to close."
"I know." She turned to face him. "I'll be ready."
He kissed her, slow and deep. "I know you will."
As they left the conference room, Eloneta felt the shift in the air. She had taken control tonight, in the boardroom and in the bedroom. And she knew, with a certainty that settled deep in her chest, that she would never give it back.
The power dynamic had shifted. She was no longer just his wife. She was his partner and his equal. His queen.
And their empire was only beginning to grow.
Desert Ambush
The helicopter blades sliced through the Nevada heat as the desert unfolded beneath us like a golden sea. Mercer's palm rested on my thigh, heavy and possessive, as we flew toward his private retreat somewhere beyond the reach of maps and cell towers.
"You'll like it," he said, his voice cutting through the rotor noise. "No phones. No business. Just us."
I turned from the window, studying his profile. The hard line of his jaw. The way his eyes scanned the horizon even now, always watching. "And you think I can survive without my phone for three days?"
His fingers squeezed my thigh. "I think you can survive anything, Eloneta. You've proven that."
The words settled in my chest, warm and unexpected. A month ago, I would have heard manipulation. Now I heard something closer to pride.
The retreat emerged from the desert floor like a mirage. Low and sprawling, all glass and stone and infinity pools that seemed to pour directly into the horizon. We landed on a private helipad, and the silence that followed the engine shutdown was almost deafening.
"It's beautiful," I breathed, stepping onto the sun-baked stone.
Mercer came up behind me, his chest against my back, his lips at my ear. "Wait until you see it at night. No light pollution for miles. The stars look close enough to touch."
I leaned back into him, letting myself feel the rare moment of peace. "You planned this."
"I planned everything about you." His arms wrapped around my waist. "From the moment I saw you across that boardroom, I planned to have you here."
"In the desert?"
"In my world. In my arms. In my bed every night." He kissed my neck, soft and slow. "The desert is just a bonus."
I laughed, turning in his embrace. "You're impossible."
"I'm yours." He said it simply, like a fact, and the weight of it hit me harder than any declaration of love could have.
We spent the afternoon exploring the house. A master bedroom with floor to ceiling windows that faced the endless sand. A kitchen stocked with everything we could want. A pool that shimmered turquoise against the brown landscape. And a bed so large it felt like its own country.
"Too much?" Mercer asked, watching me take it all in.
"Perfect," I said, and meant it.
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and deep bruised violet, we walked out onto the deck. The heat of the day was fading, replaced by a warmth that felt like a blanket.
"Thank you," I said, my voice softer than I intended. "For this. For everything."
Mercer turned to me, his dark eyes catching the last light. "You don't have to thank me, Eloneta. You're my wife. This is your life now."
"I know." I stepped closer, my fingers finding the buttons of his shirt. "But I want to. I want you to know that I see what you're doing. That I appreciate it."
His hand caught mine, stopping my movement. "Then show me."
The challenge in his voice sent a shiver down my spine. "Here?"
"Why not?" He gestured at the empty desert. "No one can see us for miles. We're completely alone."
I pulled my hand free and stepped back, holding his gaze as I reached for the zipper of my dress. It fell to the deck in a pool of silk, leaving me in nothing but the evening air and his hungry stare.
"Is this what you wanted?" I asked, my voice steady despite my racing heart.
Mercer's eyes traveled over me, slow and deliberate. "It's a start."
He closed the distance between us in two steps, his hands finding my waist, my hips, pulling me against him. The kiss was deep and claiming, his tongue sweeping into my mouth as if he owned every part of me. I melted into him, my hands fisting in his shirt, pulling him closer.
His mouth moved to my throat, my collarbone, lower. "I want to take you right here," he murmured against my skin. "Under the stars. With nothing between us."
"Then do it."
He lifted me easily, my legs wrapping around his waist as he carried me to a lounge chair near the pool. He laid me down on the cushions, his body covering mine, the heat of him searing against my bare skin.
But before we could go further, a sound cut through the desert silence. A crack. Then another. Distant but unmistakable.
Gunfire.
Mercer was off me in an instant, his palm pressed flat over my mouth, his eyes sharp and dangerous. "Don't move. Don't make a sound."
I nodded, my heart slamming against my ribs. He pulled a gun from somewhere I hadn't seen and moved to the edge of the deck, scanning the darkness beyond the pool's glow.
Another crack. Closer this time. A bullet hit the stone wall beside us, spraying chips of rock.
Mercer grabbed my arm, pulling me off the lounge chair and into the house. "Stay low. Stay behind me."
I crawled after him, my knees scraping against the floor, my dress forgotten on the deck. We made it inside, and Mercer slammed the door, locking it. But we both knew locks wouldn't stop whoever was out there.
"Who is it?" I whispered, my voice shaking.
"I don't know. But I'm going to find out." He pressed a gun into my hands. "You know how to use this?"
I stared at the weapon, cold and heavy. "My father taught me."
"Good. Stay here. If anyone comes through that door who isn't me, you shoot."
"Mercer, no." I grabbed his arm. "Don't leave me."
He turned to me, his eyes softening for just a moment. "I'm not leaving you. I'm protecting you. Stay low, stay quiet, and if I'm not back soon, you take the helicopter and you go."
"I'm not leaving without you."
His palm cupped my face, rough and urgent. "Yes, you will. Because if something happens to me, you're the only one who can hold the empire together. You're stronger than you know, Eloneta. Stronger than any of them."
He kissed me hard, a kiss that tasted like goodbye and promise, and then he was gone, slipping through a side door into the darkness.
I crouched behind a marble counter, the gun trembling in my hands. The seconds stretched into eternity. More gunfire. Shouting. The sound of glass breaking somewhere in the house.
I counted my breaths. In. Out. In. Out. My father's voice echoed in my memory: Steady hands, Eloneta. Steady hands.
A crash from the hallway. Heavy footsteps. I raised the gun, aimed at the door, my finger on the trigger.
The door burst open.
Mercer stood there, blood dripping from a cut on his forehead, a dead man at his feet. "It's clear. Three of them. Pelion's men will be here shortly to clean up."
I lowered the gun, my whole body shaking. "You're bleeding."
"It's nothing." He crossed to me, pulling me into his arms. "Are you okay? Did they hurt you?"
"I'm fine." But I wasn't. The adrenaline was crashing, and my legs gave out.
Mercer caught me, lifting me into his arms. "I've got you."
He carried me through the house, past the broken glass and the blood, out onto the deck where the stars were just beginning to emerge. He set me down on the lounge chair where we had been moments before, and knelt in front of me.
"Look at me." His voice was firm but gentle. "Look at me, Eloneta."
I met his eyes. The darkness in them was familiar now, but so was the warmth.
"You're safe. I won't let anyone hurt you. Ever."
"I know." And I did. In that moment, I believed it completely. "I know you won't."
He kissed me then, soft and slow, as if we had all the time in the world. The taste of blood and dust and survival was on his lips, and I drank it in like water.
"I need you," I whispered against his mouth. "Right now. I need to feel alive."
He didn't need to be asked twice. His hands found my waist, pulling me against him as he laid me back on the cushions. The stars were coming out above us, cold and distant, but the heat between us was anything but.
He kissed down my body, his mouth leaving a trail of fire on my skin. "You're so beautiful," he murmured. "So fucking brave."
"Mercer." I arched into him, my fingers tangling in his hair. "Please."
His lips traced the curve of my breast, his tongue circling my nipple before drawing it into his mouth. I gasped, my back arching off the cushions as heat pooled between my thighs. He sucked gently at first, then harder, his teeth grazing the sensitive peak until I whimpered.
"Tell me what you need," he said, his breath hot against my skin.
"You. Just you."
He kissed lower, his tongue tracing a path down my stomach, his hands gripping my hips with a possessiveness that made me tremble. When his mouth reached the inside of my thigh, I moaned, my fingers tightening in his hair.
"I can smell how much you want me," he growled, his voice vibrating against my sensitive flesh. "I can feel how wet you are."
Then his mouth was on me, his tongue parting my folds, tasting me with a hunger that bordered on desperate. I cried out, my hips bucking against him, but he held me down, his hands pressing my thighs apart as he devoured me. His tongue circled my clit, slow and deliberate, before sucking it into his mouth. The pleasure built inside me like a storm, each stroke of his tongue pushing me closer to the edge.
"Mercer, please," I begged, my voice breaking. "I need you inside me."
He raised his head, his lips glistening with my arousal, his eyes dark with want. "Not yet. I'm not done tasting you."
His tongue returned to my clit, flicking and circling, while his fingers slid inside me, first one, then two, curling to find the spot that made me see stars. He stroked me slowly, matching the rhythm of his mouth, building the pressure inside me until I couldn't think, couldn't breathe, couldn't do anything but feel.
"Come for me, Eloneta," he commanded against my flesh. "Come on my tongue."
The orgasm crashed through me, my body clenching around his fingers, my thighs trembling against his hands. I screamed his name into the desert night, the sound swallowed by the vast emptiness around us.
He didn't stop. His tongue continued its assault, drawing out every wave of pleasure until I was shaking, until I was begging him to stop, until I was begging him for more.
Finally, he pulled back, his eyes blazing as he looked up at me. He shed his clothes quickly, his body lean and hard in the starlight, his cock thick and erect against his stomach. He positioned himself above me, his eyes locked on mine.
"Tell me what you need."
"You. Just you."
He entered me in one smooth motion, and I cried out, the sensation overwhelming after the terror of the past hour. He filled me completely, stretching me, the thickness of him pressing against my walls as he sank deep. I gasped, my nails digging into his shoulders, my body adjusting to the fullness of him.
"Look at the stars," he said, his voice rough. "Look at them while I take you."
I tilted my head back, the sky spinning above me, and let myself feel everything. The cool night air on my heated skin. The weight of him above me. The stretch and slide of our bodies coming together.
He moved slowly at first, each thrust deep and deliberate, pulling almost completely out before sinking back in. I could feel every inch of him, every ridge and vein, as he memorized my body with his. The friction built gradually, each stroke sending sparks of pleasure through my core.
"You're mine," he growled, his pace quickening. "Every part of you is mine."
"Yes." I was past words, past thought, lost in the sensation. "Yes, I'm yours."
He thrust harder now, deeper, his hips snapping against mine with a force that pushed me into the cushions. I wrapped my legs around his waist, pulling him closer, needing him deeper, needing to feel him in my soul. The sound of our bodies meeting filled the desert night, raw and primal.
"You feel so good," he groaned, his forehead pressing against mine. "So tight. So perfect."
His hand slid between us, his fingers finding my clit, rubbing in tight circles as he drove into me. The dual sensation pushed me toward the edge again, my second orgasm building fast and hard.
"Come with me," he commanded, his voice strained. "I want to feel you come around my cock."
I shattered, my climax ripping through me like the gunfire that had shattered our peace. My walls clenched around him, pulsing, pulling him deeper. He followed moments later, his body shuddering above me, his face buried in my neck as he spilled inside me, his groan vibrating against my throat.
We lay there, tangled together, our breath mingling in the desert air. The stars were fully out now, a million points of light in a sky that seemed to go on forever.
"I thought I was going to lose you," I said, my voice barely a whisper.
Mercer lifted his head, his eyes meeting mine. "You're never going to lose me. I promise you that."
"You can't promise that."
"I can. I do." He kissed my forehead. "I've spent my whole life building an empire, Eloneta. But none of it matters without you. You're the only thing I can't afford to lose."
Tears pricked at my eyes, and I didn't bother to hide them. "I love you."
The words hung between us, heavy and true. I hadn't planned to say them. Hadn't known I felt them until they left my mouth. But once they were out, I knew they were real.
Mercer's expression softened, the hard lines of his face easing into something I had never seen before. Vulnerability. "Say it again."
"I love you."
He kissed me, deep and slow, and I felt the truth of it in every brush of his lips, every stroke of his tongue. "I love you too, Eloneta. More than I thought I could love anyone."
We stayed on the deck until the first light of dawn began to paint the horizon pink and gold. The bodies were gone. The blood had been cleaned. The world had moved on.
But we were still there, together, changed by the night and the danger and the love we had finally spoken aloud.
Mercer pulled me closer, his arm around my shoulders. "We should go inside. Get some real sleep."
"In a minute." I leaned into him, watching the sun rise over the desert that had tried to claim us. "I want to remember this."
"Remember what?"
I turned to him, smiling. "The moment I stopped being afraid."
His fingers found mine, our hands interlacing. "You never have to be afraid again. I'll always find you. Always protect you. Always love you."
And in the desert, with the stars fading and the sun rising and the man I loved beside me, I believed him.
Secrets Unveiled
The penthouse was quiet in the way only a space that had witnessed violence could be. Eloneta sat on the edge of the massive bed, the silk sheets cool against her thighs, watching Mercer move through the shadows of the bedroom. The desert ambush had left marks on both of them, but the ones she couldn't see were the ones that worried her most.
He stopped at the window, his back to her, the city lights painting his silhouette in gold and red. His shoulders were tense, his hands braced against the glass. She had seen him like this before, in the minutes after a deal closed or an enemy fell. But this was different. This was a man wrestling with something he could not shoot or intimidate.
"Mercer." She said his name softly, a question wrapped in a breath.
He did not turn. "I keep thinking about what happened out there. How close I came to losing you."
"But you didn't." She rose from the bed, the nightgown whispering against her skin as she crossed the room. She stopped just behind him, close enough to feel the heat radiating from his body but not touching. "We're both still here."
"Because I got lucky." His voice was rough, stripped of the velvet command he usually wielded. "And I don't believe in luck. I believe in control. In preparation. In being ready for anything." He turned then, and the look in his eyes made her breath catch. It was raw, open, terrified. "But I was. Because I was distracted. Because for the first time in my life, I had something worth losing."
Eloneta reached out, her fingers brushing his jaw. "You don't have to carry this alone."
He caught her hand, pressing it against his chest. His heart was pounding, a wild rhythm that betrayed the calm mask he wore. "I've never told anyone this. Not Pelion. Not the priests I confessed to as a boy thinking it would cleanse me." He let out a bitter laugh. "Nothing cleanses what I've done."
"Then don't tell me as a confession," she said, her thumb tracing the line of his collarbone. "Tell me as a gift. Because I want to know you. All of you."
He stared at her for a long moment, searching her face for something. Pity, maybe. Judgment. She met his gaze without flinching, letting him see that she was not afraid of his darkness.
"I was ten when I first understood what my father was," he began, his voice low and distant. "He came home with blood on his shirt, and he told me it was the price of respect. I didn't understand then. I thought respect was something you earned by being good, by being honest." He shook his head. "I learned differently."
She led him to the bed, sitting down and pulling him beside her. He kept her hand in his, his grip tight as if she were an anchor.
"When I was twelve, my father made a mistake. He trusted the wrong man. They came to our house at night, three of them. They made me watch while they beat him, while they asked him where the money was. He didn't tell them." Mercer's voice cracked. "He didn't tell them because he knew if he did, they would kill us both anyway. So he took the beating. He took it for me."
Eloneta felt tears prick her eyes, but she blinked them back. She needed to be strong for him.
"They killed him anyway. Right in front of me. And then they left me there, kneeling in his blood, because they thought I was nothing. A boy who would be swallowed by the system and forgotten." He turned to look at her, his eyes dark with old pain. "But I wasn't nothing. I was a Morgana. And I made a vow that night. I would never be weak again. I'd never let anyone hold that kind of power over me."
"So you built an empire," she said softly.
"I built a fortress. Around myself, around everything I owned. I let no one in. I trusted no one." He lifted her hand to his lips, pressing a kiss to her palm. "Until you."
"I'm not a weakness, Mercer." She held his gaze. "I'm your strength."
He made a sound, something between a laugh and a sob. "I know. That's what terrifies me."
She leaned in, her forehead touching his. "I'm not going anywhere. You can be vulnerable with me. You can break down with me. I'll hold you together."
His hands came up to cup her face, his thumbs brushing away tears she hadn't realized she'd shed. "How did I deserve you?"
"You didn't. But I'm here anyway."
He kissed her then, and it was different from every kiss before. There was no demand, no conquest, no claim. It was desperate and tender, a man reaching for salvation. She opened for him, her lips parting, her tongue meeting his in a dance that was more about giving than taking.
He laid her back on the bed, his body covering hers, the weight of him a comfort rather than a cage. His hands moved slowly, reverently, pushing the silk of her nightgown up her thighs. She arched into him, her fingers threading through his hair, pulling him closer.
"Tell me what you need," he murmured against her throat.
"You. Just you."
He kissed his way down her body, each touch a benediction. Her collarbone first, then lower, his lips tracing the swell of her breast above the silk. He pulled the fabric down, exposing her to the cool air and his hot mouth. She gasped when his tongue found her nipple, circling slowly before drawing it between his lips. Her back bowed off the mattress, her fingers tangling in his dark hair.
"I spent my whole life building walls," he said, his voice rough against her skin. "And you tore them down without even trying."
She reached for him, pulling him back up until they were face to face. "Then let me in. All the way."
He kissed her again, deeper this time, his tongue sliding against hers as his hand slid between them. His fingers found the edge of her nightgown, gathering the fabric and pulling it up and over her head in one fluid motion. She lay bare beneath him, the city light painting her skin in gold and shadow.
He pulled back to look at her, his eyes tracing every curve, every line. "You're beautiful," he whispered, and the word carried weight it never had before. It was not a compliment. It was worship.
His hands followed his gaze, palms sliding over her shoulders, down her arms, across the plane of her stomach. She trembled beneath his touch, her skin rising in goosebumps. He bent to press a kiss to the hollow of her throat, then lower, his lips brushing the curve of her breast before taking her nipple into his mouth again. She moaned, her hips rising instinctively.
His hand drifted lower, fingers tracing the inside of her thigh with maddening slowness. She was wet, had been wet since the moment his vulnerability cracked open before her. When he finally touched her, one finger sliding through her slick folds, they both groaned.
"God, Eloneta," he breathed against her skin.
She reached for him, her hands fumbling with the button of his pants. He helped her, kicking them off, and then he was naked above her, his body hard and scarred and beautiful. She wrapped her fingers around him, feeling him pulse in her grip, and he closed his eyes, his jaw clenching.
"Not yet," he said, his voice strained. "I want to taste you first."
He kissed down her body, his tongue tracing a path from her navel to the inside of her thigh. She shivered in anticipation, her legs falling open for him. He looked up at her one last time, his dark eyes holding hers, before he lowered his mouth to her.
The first touch of his tongue made her cry out. He licked her slowly, deliberately, from entrance to clit and back again, learning her with his mouth. She grabbed the sheets, twisting the silk in her fists as he found a rhythm, his tongue circling her clit before sucking gently.
"Mercer," she gasped, her hips moving against his mouth. "Please."
He slid a finger inside her, then two, curling them to find the spot that made her see stars. She shattered around him, her orgasm hitting her hard and fast, her body clenching around his fingers as he worked her through it with his tongue.
He kissed his way back up her body as she recovered, his lips brushing her stomach, her ribs, her breasts. She pulled him to her, kissing him deeply, tasting herself on his tongue.
"Now," she said against his mouth. "I need you inside me."
He positioned himself between her thighs, the head of his cock pressing against her entrance. He entered her slowly, inch by inch, his forehead pressed to hers. She felt every moment of it, the stretch, the fullness, the way he trembled as he sank into her.
"You feel so good," he groaned, his voice breaking. "You feel like home."
She wrapped her legs around him, pulling him deeper. "Then come home."
They moved together in a rhythm that was less about passion and more about connection, a conversation spoken in gasps and whispers. He was slow, deliberate, each thrust a declaration. She met him, her hips rising to take him deeper, her hands roaming his back, feeling the muscles tense and release beneath her palms.
"I love you," he said, the words torn from him like a confession. "I didn't think I could. I didn't think I deserved to. But I love you."
Eloneta's heart swelled, her arms wrapping around him, her legs locking behind his back. "I love you too. I love the man you are, not the man you had to be."
His pace quickened, but there was no urgency, only the need to be closer, to merge completely. She met him thrust for thrust, her body rising to meet his, her nails raking lightly down his back. The pleasure built slowly, a tide that rose and rose until it crashed over her, pulling him with her.
He cried out her name as he came, his body shuddering above her, his face buried in his neck. She held him through it, through the aftershocks, through the silence that followed.
They lay tangled together, the sheets twisted around them, their breath slowly evening out. Eloneta traced the scars on his chest, the map of his survival.
"Thank you," she whispered.
"For what?"
"For trusting me. For letting me see you."
He turned his head, pressing a kiss to her hair. "Thank you for not looking away."
She smiled against his skin. "I told you. I'm not going anywhere."
They lay in the dark, the city humming below them, the past finally laid to rest between them. And for the first time in his life, Mercer Ferraro felt something he had never allowed himself to feel.
Hope.
Eloneta felt it too. She had married a monster, but she had found a man. And she would spend the rest of her life proving to him that he was worthy of love.
The secrets were unveiled, and they had not destroyed them. They had made them stronger.
She closed her eyes, her hand resting over his heart, and let herself believe in the future they would build together.
Syndicate Showdown
The penthouse windows reflected the neon pulse of the Strip, but Eloneta barely noticed the glittering city below. She stood at the floor-to-ceiling glass, her reflection ghostly against the night, wearing a black silk dress that hugged every curve. The earpiece in her ear was invisible, a tiny piece of technology that connected her to Mercer's voice.
"You're perfect, tesoro." His voice crackled through the tiny speaker. "They're entering the casino now."
She pressed her palm against the cool glass, steadying her breathing. Three months ago, the thought of being bait in a mafia takedown would have sent her running. Now her pulse quickened with anticipation, not fear. Mercer had transformed her, piece by piece, night by night, until she craved the danger as much as she craved his touch.
"I'm ready," she murmured, barely moving her lips.
"Remember, you're just a bored wife waiting for her husband. They'll approach you. Let them."
Eloneta turned from the window and walked toward the private elevator. Her heels clicked against the marble floor, a rhythm that matched her heartbeat. The casino below was a maze of slot machines and card tables, but tonight it was a battlefield.
The elevator doors opened onto the VIP floor. She stepped out, letting her gaze drift lazily across the room, playing the part of a woman looking for entertainment. A few high rollers nodded at her. She ignored them.
Then she saw them. Three men in expensive suits, their eyes scanning the room with too much precision. They weren't tourists. They were soldiers.
One of them, a man with graying temples and cold blue eyes, approached her. "Mrs. Ferraro. I'm surprised to see you alone tonight."
She smiled, a practiced, empty smile. "My husband is... occupied. Business never sleeps."
"Perhaps I could keep you company." He gestured to the bar. "A drink, for old times' sake?"
Eloneta's pulse quickened. Old times. He knew her father. She let her smile falter slightly, playing vulnerability. "I don't think that's wise. Mercer is very..."
"Protective?" The man laughed. "I've heard. But what he doesn't know won't hurt him."
She let the man guide her to the bar, her mind racing through Mercer's instructions. Keep them talking. Buy time. Let them think they have leverage.
The man ordered two glasses of whiskey. "I knew your father, Eloneta. He was a good man. A strong man. It's a shame what happened to his empire."
"Things change," she said softly.
"They don't have to." He leaned closer. "There are those of us who remember the old ways. Who would see you restored to your rightful place."
Mercer's voice crackled in her ear. "He's offering you a deal. Accept it. Let him think you're interested."
Eloneta met the man's eyes. "I'm listening."
The man smiled. "Not here. There's a private room. We can discuss... arrangements."
She stood, letting him take her arm. Her heart hammered against her ribs as they walked through the casino, past the slot machines and card tables, toward a door marked "Private." She could feel the weight of the small pistol strapped to her thigh beneath her dress. Mercer had insisted. She was glad he had.
The room was elegant, all dark wood and leather chairs. Two other men waited inside. The door clicked shut behind her.
"Your husband has made many enemies," the gray-haired man said, settling into a chair. "But he has one weakness. You."
"Is that so?"
"He keeps you close. Too close. It makes him predictable."
Eloneta smiled. "You think you know my husband?"
"I know men like him. They all fall the same way. A woman, a weakness, a knife in the dark."
She heard the subtle shift in the air, the faint click of a door opening behind her. She kept her eyes on the man. "You're wrong."
The man's eyes widened as a shadow moved behind him. Mercer's voice, cold and sharp, cut through the tension. "She's not my weakness. She's my weapon."
The gray-haired man reached for his jacket, but Pelion was faster. The enforcer's fist connected with the man's jaw, sending him crashing to the floor. The other two men moved, but Mercer's men swarmed the room, efficient and silent. Within seconds, the three men were on their knees, hands bound.
Eloneta stepped back, her pulse racing. Mercer moved toward her, his dark eyes blazing with something between fury and pride. He cupped her face in his hands, tilting her chin up.
"You did well, tesoro."
"I told you I could handle it."
He kissed her, hard and possessive, his tongue sweeping into her mouth. When he pulled back, his voice was rough. "We're not done yet."
The next hour was a blur of controlled chaos. Mercer orchestrated the takedown with surgical precision, his men sweeping through the casino, neutralizing the enemy's network. Eloneta watched from the security room, the screens showing every move, every capture.
By the time the last of the enemy was subdued, the sun was beginning to paint the horizon pink and gold. The casino was quiet, the guests having been evacuated under the guise of a fire drill. The empire was secure.
Mercer found her in the security room, his suit jacket discarded, his sleeves rolled up, revealing the tattoos that covered his forearms. He looked primal, victorious, and utterly devastating.
"It's done," he said.
"They're gone?"
"Arrested. Or worse. It doesn't matter. They won't threaten us again."
Eloneta stood, walking toward him. Her heels clicked against the tile floor. "And now?"
His eyes darkened. "Now I claim my reward."
He didn't wait for her response. He pulled her into his arms, his mouth crashing against hers. The kiss was fierce, triumphant, tasting of victory and gunpowder. Her hands fisted in his shirt, pulling him closer.
"Not here," she breathed against his lips.
"Here. Now. I need you, Eloneta."
He backed her against the wall, his body pressing against hers. She could feel the hard lines of his chest, the coiled tension in his muscles, the evidence of his arousal pressing insistently against her hip. His hands found the zipper of her dress, pulling it down with rough urgency. The silk pooled at her feet, leaving her in nothing but black lace and the thigh holster.
"You wore my gun," he growled, his fingers tracing the strap along her thigh.
"You told me to be ready."
"I told you to be safe." He pulled the holster free, letting it fall to the floor. "But I'm glad you were ready."
His mouth found her neck, teeth grazing the sensitive skin just below her ear. She arched against him, her fingers tangling in his dark hair. The adrenaline of the night was still surging through her veins, mixing with the heat building between her thighs.
"Tell me what you want," he demanded, his voice rough with need.
"You. Now. Hard."
He laughed, a low, dark sound that vibrated against her throat. "That's my good girl."
He lifted her, her legs wrapping around his waist. He carried her to the leather chair in the corner, sitting down with her straddling his lap. The position was intimate, vulnerable, her body open to him. She could feel the heat of him through his pants, the thick length of him straining against the fabric.
His hands slid up her sides, calloused palms grazing the curve of her waist, the swell of her breasts beneath the black lace. He traced the edge of the fabric with his thumb, watching her face as he brushed across her hardened nipple. She gasped, her hips shifting against him instinctively.
"Patience, tesoro," he murmured, but his own breathing was ragged.
He reached between them, unzipping his pants. His cock sprang free, thick and hard, the head slick with precum. She moaned as he guided her down, the tip pressing against her wet entrance, parting her folds. He was big, and the stretch was exquisite as he slowly pushed inside, inch by inch, filling her completely.
"Look at me," he commanded.
She met his eyes, her breath catching. He held her gaze as he thrust upward, burying himself to the hilt. The sensation was overwhelming, the angle deep, the stretch perfect. She could feel every ridge, every vein, every pulse of him inside her.
"Yes," she gasped, her nails digging into his shoulders.
He gripped her hips, setting a punishing pace. Each thrust drove her higher, the friction building into a wave of pleasure that crashed through her. She rode him, her body moving in rhythm with his, their eyes never breaking contact. The wet sound of their joining filled the room, obscene and beautiful.
"That's it, tesoro. Take what's yours."
The words sent a shiver through her. His. She was his, completely and irrevocably. And in this moment, she wanted nothing more.
He reached up, pulling the lace cups of her bra down to free her breasts. He took one in his mouth, tongue swirling around the nipple while his thumb worked the other. She cried out, her head falling back, her hips grinding against him harder.
"Mercer," she moaned, the name a prayer on her lips.
He responded by gripping her ass, lifting her and slamming her back down on his cock. The new angle hit something deep inside her, a spot that made stars explode behind her eyes. She whimpered, her thighs trembling as she rode him faster.
Her orgasm built, coiling low in her belly like a spring. He felt her tighten around him and groaned, his grip on her hips bruising.
"Come for me, Eloneta. Let me feel you."
She shattered, her body convulsing around him in waves. The pleasure was blinding, consuming, radiating from her core through every nerve ending. She clenched around him, milking him, and he followed moments later, his release hot and deep inside her. His growl of satisfaction vibrated against her skin as he buried his face in her neck, his cock twitching as he filled her.
They stayed like that, tangled together, breathing hard. He pressed a kiss to her forehead, his hand stroking her back in lazy circles.
"This is just the beginning," he murmured.
She pulled back, meeting his eyes. "I know."
He smiled, a rare, genuine smile that softened the hard edges of his face. "You're not the woman I married."
"No," she agreed. "I'm the woman you made."
"No, tesoro. You're the woman you became. I just had the privilege of watching."
She kissed him, soft and sweet, a contrast to the intensity of the night. When she pulled back, her voice was steady. "What now?"
"Now we rule." He stood, lifting her with him. "Together."
He carried her out of the security room, through the quiet casino, and into the elevator. The doors closed, sealing them in a private world of glass and gold. The city sprawled beneath them, a kingdom of lights and shadows.
"Are you ready for this?" he asked.
"I've been ready. I just needed you to show me."
He kissed her again, deep and claiming. "Then let's show them all what happens when you underestimate a Ferraro."
The elevator doors opened onto their penthouse. The sun was rising, painting the room in shades of amber and rose. Mercer carried her to the bedroom, laying her on the silk sheets.
"We're not done celebrating," he said, his voice dropping to a growl.
"I didn't think we were."
He covered her body with his, his mouth finding hers. The night was over, but the victory was just beginning. And in the warmth of his embrace, Eloneta knew she had found her place. Not as a pawn or a prize, but as his equal. His partner. His queen.
The syndicate was theirs. And nothing would ever take it from them.
Eternal Claim
The private jet touched down on Zenkai's airstrip just as the sun began to paint the sky in shades of gold and crimson. Eloneta pressed her palm against the window, watching the pristine white beaches and turquoise waters emerge from the clouds. She had never seen anything so beautiful, so untouched by the violence and darkness that had defined her life for months.
Mercer's hand found hers, his fingers interlacing with her own. "Welcome to our honeymoon, principessa."
She turned to face him, taking in the rare softness in his dark eyes. "It's incredible. I didn't know places like this still existed."
"That's the point." He raised her hand to his lips, pressing a kiss to her knuckles. "No one knows we're here. No business, no enemies, no interruptions. Just us."
Eloneta's heart fluttered at the promise in his voice. The past weeks had been a whirlwind of violence and victory, of bodies buried and empires secured. Now, finally, they had earned this.
The villa was a masterpiece of modern luxury and natural beauty. Floor-to-ceiling windows opened onto a private beach, where gentle waves lapped at powder-white sand. A massive bed dominated the master suite, draped in sheer white fabric that billowed in the ocean breeze. Candles lined every surface, waiting to be lit as evening fell.
Mercer dismissed the staff with a wave, his eyes never leaving Eloneta. "I want to do this myself."
She understood. This wasn't just a vacation. This was a claiming, a ritual that would seal everything they had fought for.
"Show me what you want," she said, her voice soft but steady. "I'm yours, Mercer. Completely."
Something shifted in his gaze. The controlled don gave way to something rawer, hungrier. He crossed the room in deliberate strides, his hands cupping her face with a gentleness that belied his intensity.
"Say that again."
"I'm yours." She reached up, her fingers tracing the scar along his jaw. "Every part of me. I choose this. I choose you."
He kissed her then, deep and claiming, his tongue sweeping into her mouth as if he could taste her surrender. Eloneta melted into him, her body responding with an eagerness that still surprised her. This man had taken everything from her, and in return, she had given him everything.
Their clothes fell away in a trail from the living room to the bedroom. Mercer's hands were everywhere, mapping her skin, learning the curves and hollows of her body as if for the first time. He laid her on the bed, the white sheets cool against her heated flesh.
"I've waited for this," he murmured, his lips trailing down her throat. "A place where I can take my time. Where I can worship you properly."
Eloneta shivered at his words. "Then worship me."
He smiled, a slow, devastating thing that made her core clench. "With pleasure."
Mercer began at her feet, pressing kisses to each toe before working his way up her calves. His hands massaged her thighs, spreading them wide as his mouth followed the path of his touch. When he reached the apex of her legs, he paused, looking up at her with dark, reverent eyes.
"You're beautiful like this," he said. "Open for me. Trusting me."
"I trust you," she breathed, and meant it.
His first taste of her was slow, almost lazy. He licked along her folds as if savoring a fine wine, his tongue tracing patterns that made her hips buck. Eloneta fisted the sheets, her breath coming in short gasps as he worked her toward the edge. His lips wrapped around her clit, sucking gently before his tongue flicked rapidly against the swollen bud. She whimpered, her thighs trembling on either side of his head.
"Mercer, please..."
"Not yet." He pulled back, his chin glistening with her arousal. "Tonight, you come when I say you can. Understood?"
The command sent a thrill through her. "Yes."
He returned to his task with renewed focus, his tongue circling her clit before sucking it gently between his lips. Two fingers slid inside her, curling against the sensitive spot that made her vision blur. Eloneta cried out, her body arching off the bed as pleasure built like a wave. But Mercer held her at the peak, backing off just before she could fall, keeping her suspended in a state of desperate need.
"Please," she begged, her voice breaking. "Mercer, I need..."
"I know what you need." He added a third finger, stretching her, his thumb replacing his tongue on her clit. "You need to feel how completely I own this body. Every inch of you responds to me."
He demonstrated by crooking his fingers, pressing deep, and she shattered around him, her inner walls clenching and releasing as a small orgasm rippled through her. But it wasn't enough. He hadn't given her permission for the full release, and her body hung there, wanting more.
"That's just the beginning," he said, withdrawing his fingers and bringing them to his lips. He tasted her essence, his eyes never leaving hers. "You're so sweet, Eloneta. I could spend hours between your legs."
He positioned himself at her entrance, the broad head of his cock pressing against her slick opening. But he didn't enter. Instead, he leaned down, capturing her mouth in a kiss that was almost tender. She could taste herself on his tongue, the intimate flavor of her own desire mingling with his breath.
"Tell me again," he whispered against her lips. "Who do you belong to?"
"You." She wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him closer, trying to draw him inside. "Only you, Mercer. Always you."
He sank into her in one smooth motion, filling her completely. Eloneta gasped at the stretch, the sensation of being so thoroughly claimed. He was thick and hard, and her body resisted before yielding, accommodating his size with a fullness that bordered on pain before dissolving into pure pleasure. Mercer stilled, giving her time to adjust, his forehead pressed against hers.
"You feel that?" he asked, his voice rough. "That's forever, Eloneta. I'm never letting you go."
She believed him. In this moment, with him buried deep inside her, she believed everything.
He began to move, slow and deep, each thrust a declaration of ownership. Eloneta matched his rhythm, her hips rising to meet his, their bodies moving in perfect synchrony. The candles flickered around them, casting dancing shadows on the walls as the ocean sang its eternal song outside. She could feel every ridge of him, every vein, the way he pulsed inside her as her walls gripped him tight.
"Look at me," Mercer commanded. "I want to see your eyes when you come."
She obeyed, meeting his gaze as the pleasure built to an unbearable peak. His hand found her clit, rubbing in tight circles that sent her spiraling. He increased his pace, driving into her harder now, each thrust hitting the mouth of her womb. The wet sound of their joining filled the room, obscene and beautiful. She cried out his name as her orgasm crashed through her, her walls spasming around his length, milking him as wave after wave of sensation pulsed through her body.
Mercer followed moments later, his body shuddering as he spilled inside her, his hot release flooding her in thick pulses. He collapsed against her, his weight a comfort rather than a burden, his face buried in her neck. She could feel him softening inside her, their combined fluids seeping out around where they remained joined.
"I love you," he murmured, the words muffled against her skin. "I didn't think I could feel this way. But you changed everything."
Eloneta's eyes stung with tears. She ran her fingers through his hair, holding him close. "I love you too. I didn't expect it either. But here we are."
They lay tangled together as the stars emerged, the only sounds the ocean and their slowing heartbeats. But Eloneta knew this was only the beginning. Mercer had promised to worship her, and she intended to return the favor.
She shifted beneath him, pushing at his shoulders until he rolled onto his back. "My turn."
His eyebrows rose, but he didn't resist. "Is that so?"
"You've claimed me," she said, straddling his hips. "Now I claim you."
She took him in her hand, stroking his length back to full hardness before guiding him inside her with a slow, deliberate movement. Mercer groaned, his hands finding her hips as she began to ride him. This was different. She was in control now, setting the pace, taking what she wanted. She rose until only the tip remained inside her, then sank back down, taking him to the hilt. The angle put him deeper than before, hitting places inside her that made her gasp.
"Eloneta..." His voice was strained, his eyes fixed on where their bodies joined.
"Watch," she commanded, echoing his words from earlier. "Watch me take what's mine."
She moved faster, her head thrown back as pleasure built again. Her breasts bounced with each movement, and Mercer's hands rose to cup them, his thumbs brushing her hardened nipples. She braced her hands on his chest, grinding her clit against his pelvis with each downward stroke. Mercer's grip tightened, his hips thrusting up to meet her descent. They found a rhythm that was primal, urgent, two bodies moving as one.
When she came this time, it was with a scream that echoed off the walls. Her inner walls clamped down on him like a fist, and Mercer followed seconds later, his release triggering her own as they tumbled over the edge together. She felt him throb inside her, each pulse of his seed sending another aftershock through her body until she collapsed onto his chest, trembling.
Afterward, they lay in a sweaty, satisfied heap, the sheets twisted around them. Mercer pulled her close, his arm a possessive weight across her waist.
"This is forever," he said, his voice soft but firm. "No matter what happens out there, in here, it's just us."
Eloneta pressed a kiss to his chest, right over his heart. "I know. I'm not afraid anymore."
And she wasn't. The woman who had signed that marriage contract months ago would never recognize the woman she had become. She was Eloneta Ferraro now. A queen. A partner. A woman who had found her strength in surrender and her freedom in submission.
As the night deepened around them, Mercer carried her to the private pool that overlooked the ocean. They made love again in the warm water, slow and languid, the stars their only witnesses. He took her from behind, her back pressed against his chest as the water lapped at their bodies, his hands cupping her breasts as he moved inside her. Then again on the beach, sand clinging to their skin as the waves washed over them, her legs wrapped around him as the tide rose around their joined bodies.
By the time dawn painted the sky in shades of rose and gold, Eloneta was exhausted, satisfied, and more complete than she had ever been. Mercer wrapped her in a robe and carried her back to bed, tucking her in with a gentleness that belied his strength.
"Sleep," he murmured, kissing her forehead. "I'll be here when you wake."
"Promise?"
"Always."
She closed her eyes, a smile playing at her lips. She had come to Zenkai as Eloneta Morgana, a reluctant bride with a shattered past. She would leave as Eloneta Ferraro, a willing wife with a future as bright as the rising sun.
And in between, she would let Mercer worship her, claim her, own her completely. Because that was what she wanted. That was what she needed.
That was what love looked like in their world.
Legacy Forged
The Vegas sun bled amber through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the penthouse, casting long shadows across the marble floor. Eloneta stood at the glass, one hand resting on her stomach, watching the city stretch out beneath her like a kingdom she never expected to rule.
Half a year had passed since the honeymoon. Half a year since she had surrendered completely to Mercer Ferraro and discovered that surrender was not weakness. It was the foundation of an unbreakable strength.
She heard his footsteps before she saw him. The confident stride, the subtle weight of a man who owned every room he entered.
"You're staring at nothing, wife." His voice rolled over her, deep and warm. "What's on your mind?"
Eloneta turned, and her breath caught the way it always did. Mercer leaned against the doorway in a charcoal suit, jacket unbuttoned, tie loosened. His dark eyes swept over her with that possessive hunger that still made her knees weak.
"Everything," she said, letting a small smile play on her lips. "And nothing."
He crossed to her, his palm finding the small of her back, pulling her against his chest. "That's not an answer, Eloneta."
"It's the only one I have right now." She tilted her head up, meeting his gaze. "I was thinking about how different everything is. How different I am."
Mercer's thumb traced her jawline. "You're still the woman who walked into my boardroom with fire in her eyes. You just learned how to wield it."
"I learned how to wield you too."
He laughed, low and genuine. "That you did, tesoro."
She pulled away gently, walking toward the sofa. Her fingers lingered on her stomach. She had been carrying the secret for three days, waiting for the perfect moment. The perfect words. The perfect everything.
"Mercer, I need to tell you something."
His expression shifted immediately. The playful warmth hardened into focused attention. He sat beside her, turning her to face him. "What is it?"
Eloneta took a breath. She had rehearsed this a dozen times, but now the words felt too small for the weight they carried.
"I'm pregnant."
The silence that followed was not empty. It was full. Full of shock, of wonder, of a future neither of them had dared to speak aloud.
Mercer's eyes dropped to her stomach, then back to her face. His hand moved slowly, almost reverently, to rest where hers had been.
"You're sure?" His voice was rough, stripped of its usual command.
"I saw the doctor this morning. Eight weeks along."
For a long moment, he said nothing. Then his palm pressed more firmly against her, and he pulled her into his arms, burying his face in her hair.
"Eloneta." Her name was a prayer on his lips. "You've given me everything."
She held him, feeling the tension in his shoulders, the slight tremor in his fingers. This was the Mercer no one else saw. The man beneath the don.
"We're going to have a family," she whispered. "Our legacy."
He pulled back, his eyes dark and wet. "Our legacy." He repeated the words like he was tasting them. "I never thought I'd have this. Never thought I deserved it."
"You do." She cupped his face. "We both do."
Mercer kissed her then, deep and slow, his mouth claiming hers with a tenderness that made her heart ache. When he broke the kiss, he pressed his forehead to hers.
"I need to show you something." He stood, offering his hand. "Come with me."
She took his hand, and he led her through the penthouse to the study. The room was lined with bookshelves, a heavy oak desk dominating the center. But Mercer moved past the desk to a wall safe hidden behind a painting.
He spun the dial, and the door clicked open. He pulled out a leather-bound folder and handed it to her.
"Open it."
Eloneta sat in the chair behind the desk, her heart pounding. She opened the folder and found legal documents. Property deeds. Trust fund papers. A last will and testament.
"Everything is in your name too," Mercer said, his voice steady. "The casinos, the properties, the accounts. If anything happens to me, you don't just inherit it. You control it. You are the sole beneficiary and executor."
She looked up at him, stunned. "Mercer, this is everything."
"It's our empire, Eloneta. I built it, but I'm not keeping it without you. You are my partner in every sense that matters." He knelt before her, taking her hands. "I meant what I said on our wedding night. You are my equal. My queen. And now you carry our future."
Tears slipped down her cheeks. She didn't bother to wipe them away. "I don't know what to say."
"Say you'll stay. Say you'll rule beside me. Say you'll let me love you for the rest of my life."
"Yes." She laughed through her tears. "Yes to all of it."
He rose, pulling her up with him, and kissed her again. This time there was fire beneath the tenderness. His hands slid down her back, pressing her close, and she felt the familiar heat building between them.
"I want you," he murmured against her lips. "I want to worship every inch of you."
"Then do it."
He lifted her easily, carrying her to the bedroom. The sun had begun to set, painting the room in shades of gold and rose. He laid her on the bed, his body covering hers, his weight a comfort she craved.
"You're so beautiful," he said, his voice rough with desire. "Pregnant with my child. Ruling at my side. You're everything I never knew I needed."
She pulled his tie loose, unbuttoned his shirt, her hands hungry for his skin. "Show me, Mercer. Show me how much you want me."
He stripped her slowly, reverently, his lips following the path of his hands. He kissed her neck, her collarbone, the swell of her breasts. When his mouth reached her stomach, he paused, pressing a lingering kiss to the place where their child grew.
"I love you," he said. "I love you both."
Eloneta's heart swelled. She pulled him up, guiding his mouth back to hers. "Make love to me, Mercer. Slow. I want to feel every second."
He obeyed, his movements deliberate and tender. He entered her with a care that spoke of reverence, of awe, of a love that had grown beyond passion into something eternal.
She wrapped her legs around him, pulling him deeper, and they moved together in a rhythm that was both ancient and new. His forehead pressed to hers, their breath mingling, their bodies speaking a language that needed no words.
"I'm yours," she whispered. "Completely yours."
"And I'm yours, Eloneta. Forever."
Their climax built slowly, a wave that crested and broke over them both. She cried out his name, and he buried his face in her neck, groaning as he found his own release.
They lay tangled together, the room darkening around them. Eloneta traced patterns on his chest, her mind drifting over the journey that had brought them here.
"Do you remember our first night?" she asked softly. "The power outage?"
Mercer chuckled, his hand stroking her hair. "I remember every detail. You were so defiant. So determined not to enjoy it."
"And now?"
"Now you're the one who tells me what you want." He tilted her chin up. "And I give it to you."
She smiled. "I want our child to grow up knowing they are loved. Knowing they are safe. Knowing they are part of something greater than themselves."
"They will," he said. "I'll burn the world down before anyone threatens what we've built."
"I know you would." She kissed his chest. "But I'd rather we built it up together."
He laughed softly. "Always the optimist."
"Someone has to balance your darkness, Don Ferraro."
"You do it perfectly, Mrs. Ferraro."
They lay in comfortable silence as the city lights flickered to life beyond the windows. Eloneta felt the weight of the day settling over her, the exhaustion of carrying a secret and the relief of sharing it.
"We should tell Isabella," she said. "She'll be furious if she finds out secondhand."
"Tomorrow," Mercer agreed. "Tonight is ours."
She nodded, snuggling closer. "I love our life, Mercer. I never imagined I'd say that. Not when we started."
"Neither did I." His hand rested on her stomach, warm and protective. "But I wouldn't trade it for anything."
Eloneta closed her eyes, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath her ear. She thought of the boardroom where they had signed their contract, the penthouse where they had first explored each other, the desert where they had fought for survival, the honeymoon where she had fully surrendered.
Every step had led here. To this moment. To this man. To this future.
"Mercer?"
"Hmm?"
"Thank you for not letting me go."
He pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Thank you for not running."
She smiled against his skin. "I stopped running a long time ago."
"I know." His arms tightened around her. "And I'll spend the rest of my life making sure you never have to."
The night settled around them, warm and safe. Eloneta drifted into sleep, dreaming of a child with Mercer's dark eyes and her stubborn smile. A legacy forged in fire and passion, built on a foundation of love that had started as a contract and become an empire.
When she woke, the moon was high, and Mercer was still holding her. His palm rested on her stomach, and she covered it with her own.
"We're going to be okay," she whispered into the darkness.
And for the first time in her life, she believed it completely.
The morning came with golden light and the scent of coffee. Eloneta woke to an empty bed, but she found Mercer on the balcony, phone pressed to his ear, his voice low and commanding.
She wrapped a robe around herself and stepped outside. He turned, his expression softening as he saw her.
"I'll call you back," he said into the phone, ending the call. "Good morning, wife."
"Good morning." She leaned against the railing, looking out at the city. "Busy day?"
"Always." He slipped his arm around her waist. "But I cleared my afternoon. I thought we could go to the estate. Start planning the nursery."
Eloneta's heart fluttered. "The estate?"
"The house in the hills. I bought it last month. I was going to surprise you." He shrugged, a rare hint of vulnerability in his eyes. "I wanted our child to have a home. A real home. Not just a penthouse."
She turned to face him, her eyes stinging. "You bought a house?"
"I bought us a home." He cupped her face. "With a garden. And a pool. And enough room for a family."
Eloneta kissed him, pouring every ounce of love and gratitude into the gesture. When she pulled back, she was smiling through her tears.
"I want to see it."
"After breakfast." He took her hand. "And then we'll start building our legacy."
She walked with him back inside, her hand in his, her heart full. The empire they had built together was vast, but it was nothing compared to what they were creating now.
A family. A future. A love that had transformed them both.
And as the sun rose over Las Vegas, Eloneta Morgana Ferraro knew with absolute certainty that this was only the beginning.
