The Arrival

Julia Dugan shifted in the passenger seat of their ten-year-old sedan, the cracked leather sticking to the backs of her thighs despite the air conditioning. She watched the luxury car lot glide into view, row after row of gleaming SUVs and sedans catching the midday sun like polished jewels. The road trip had been Michael's idea, another attempt to inject life into their routine. She wanted to believe it would help. She really did.

Michael tapped the steering wheel with quiet excitement. His neat brown hair was freshly combed, glasses perched on his nose in that familiar way that made him look more like an accountant than a husband on the verge of adventure. "This place has the best selection for what we need," he said. "Plenty of cargo space, good fuel efficiency. We can finally see the coast without my back screaming at me after two hours."

Julia offered a soft smile and adjusted her blouse. The fabric was modest, buttoned nearly to her throat, but her full breasts pressed against it anyway, creating soft strain at the seams. Her long dark hair was tied back in a practical ponytail, a few strands escaping to brush her neck. At thirty-five, she still turned heads, though she pretended not to notice. The wide curve of her hips and the soft thickness of her thighs made conservative clothes feel provocative no matter how hard she tried.

"It'll be nice," she murmured. Her voice was gentle, almost hesitant. Inside, a familiar restlessness stirred. Their sex life had slowed to polite, predictable encounters every few weeks. Michael was kind. Safe. But safe had begun to feel like stagnation. She pushed the thought away as they pulled into a visitor spot near the main office.

They stepped out into the warm air. The scent of new rubber and detailing wax hung thick. Michael took her hand briefly, giving it a squeeze before letting go to grab the folder of printouts from the back seat. Julia smoothed her knee-length skirt and followed him toward the glass doors.

Before they reached the entrance, the doors opened. A man stepped out with the easy confidence of someone who owned every space he entered. He was tall, easily six-two, with broad shoulders that stretched the fabric of his dark polo shirt. Sharp jawline, well-groomed stubble, and piercing blue eyes that swept over the lot before settling directly on her. Pete Yurg. His name tag confirmed it, but Julia suspected she would have remembered his face even without it.

"Good afternoon," he said, his deep voice carrying a smooth rumble that seemed to settle low in her stomach. His gaze lingered on Julia a moment longer than professional courtesy required. A slow smile spread across his lips. "You must be the Dugans. I'm Pete. And from the look of things, I'm guessing you're Julia."

She felt her cheeks warm. "Yes. That's right."

Michael extended his hand first. "Michael Dugan. We spoke on the phone about the luxury SUV options for our road trip."

Pete shook it firmly but briefly, his attention already sliding back to Julia. "Pleasure. Julia, that color really brings out your eyes. Hazel with a hint of green, right? Not many women can pull off that conservative look and still make it impossible to look away."

The compliment was wrapped in professionalism, but the way his eyes traced her figure sent a subtle spark racing across her skin. She shifted her weight, suddenly aware of how her hips filled her skirt, how her breasts rose and fell with each breath. "Thank you," she said softly, avoiding Michael's glance.

Pete held the door open for them, his strong hand brushing the small of her back as she passed. The contact was light, almost accidental. Almost. Heat bloomed where his fingers had been. Julia told herself it was nothing. Just good customer service. Still, her pulse quickened.

Inside, the office smelled of coffee and leather. Pete gestured toward a sleek desk. "Michael, why don't you get comfortable and handle the preliminary paperwork? Insurance details, trip itinerary, that sort of thing. It'll only take ten minutes. In the meantime, I'll give Julia a quick tour of the lot so she can tell me what features matter most to her. Wives usually have the best instincts about these things."

Michael nodded without hesitation, already pulling out his pen. "That works for me. I'm pretty particular about the tech specs anyway. Jules, you go ahead. You know what kind of ride feels good to you."

Julia hesitated. Part of her wanted to stay near her husband, to keep this firmly in the realm of a normal errand. But Pete was already holding the side door open again, that commanding smile in place. "Shall we, Julia?"

She followed him out onto the lot. The sun felt hotter now. Rows of vehicles stretched in every direction, black SUVs dominating the front display. Pete walked close beside her, his stride unhurried. She could smell his cologne, something woody and expensive that made her next breath feel deeper than it needed to be.

"So," he began, voice dropping into a more intimate register, "tell me about this road trip. Two weeks, Michael mentioned? That's a lot of hours in a vehicle. You want something that can handle long stretches without getting boring."

Julia kept her eyes on the cars. "We're driving up the coast. Stopping at little towns along the way. Michael thinks it'll be romantic."

"And what do you think?" Pete stopped beside a large black SUV, resting one strong hand on the hood. His fingers were long and thick, the kind that looked capable of gripping firmly. He watched her face carefully.

She shrugged, offering a small smile. "I think it will be nice. We've been married twelve years. Sometimes nice is enough."

Pete's blue eyes narrowed slightly, as if reading between her words. "Twelve years. That's impressive. Most couples lose that spark by year five. You still look like a woman who deserves more than just nice, Julia."

There it was again. The subtle push against her boundaries. She felt exposed, though he hadn't said anything overtly inappropriate. Her nipples tightened against her bra, an unwelcome reaction she tried to ignore. "We're very comfortable together," she replied, her tone soft but firm.

"Comfortable." Pete rolled the word around like it tasted disappointing. He opened the driver's door of the SUV. "Take a seat. Feel the leather. This model's got heated and cooled seats. Plenty of power under the hood. You strike me as someone who might enjoy a little power in your hands."

Julia slid into the driver's seat. The leather was buttery soft against the backs of her thighs where her skirt rode up slightly. Pete leaned in, one arm braced on the roof, the other on the door frame. His body filled the opening, close enough that she could see the faint pulse in his neck. His eyes dropped to her legs for half a second before returning to her face.

"How does that feel?" he asked.

"Very nice," she said. Her voice came out breathier than intended. She gripped the steering wheel, trying to steady herself. Michael's paperwork seemed to be taking forever. She wondered if he was watching from the window.

Pete reached past her to adjust the rearview mirror, his forearm brushing the side of her breast. The contact sent electricity racing straight to her core. She inhaled sharply. He didn't pull back immediately. Instead, he met her eyes from inches away.

"Sorry about that," he murmured, though his tone suggested he wasn't sorry at all. "These interiors are designed for comfort. Room to move. To explore. You look like you fill the space beautifully, Julia."

She felt her cheeks burn. The compliment was laced with something darker, something that made her thighs press together instinctively. Her marriage flashed through her mind. Michael waiting inside with his spreadsheets and careful plans. This was just sales talk. Just a handsome man doing his job.

Yet when Pete offered his hand to help her out of the vehicle, she took it. His grip was warm and strong, holding hers a fraction longer than necessary. As she stood, her body brushed against his. The brief press of her full breasts to his chest made her breath catch.

"Let me show you the back," he said, guiding her with that same hand now resting lightly at her waist. "Third-row seating that's actually usable. Perfect for when you need to stretch out. Or for other activities that require space."

Julia's mind supplied images she immediately tried to banish. She focused on the vehicle instead. Pete opened the rear door and gestured for her to climb in. She did, aware of how her skirt tightened across her ass as she moved. When she turned to sit on the spacious bench seat, Pete was leaning in again, filling the doorway.

"Plenty of legroom back here," he continued. One of his hands rested on the seat beside her thigh. Not touching, but close enough that she could feel the heat. "You could lay down completely if you needed to. Close your eyes. Let someone else take control for a while."

Her pulse hammered in her throat. She crossed her legs, trying to ignore the growing warmth between them. "It's very spacious," she agreed, keeping her voice neutral. "Michael will like that."

Pete's smile deepened, revealing perfect teeth. "I'm sure he will. But I'm more interested in what you like, Julia. What makes you feel alive when you're on the road for hours. What you crave when the miles start to blur together."

The question hung between them. Julia looked at him, really looked. Those piercing blue eyes seemed to strip away her careful composure. She saw the predator behind the professional smile, and something inside her, something long dormant, stirred in response. Guilt followed immediately, hot and sharp.

"I like reliability," she said finally. "Something that won't break down when things get... intense."

Pete chuckled, low and knowing. "Reliability is important. But every once in a while, you need to test your limits. See what the engine can really do when you open it up." His fingers brushed her knee as he pretended to point out a feature on the door panel. The touch was feather-light, but it burned.

She didn't pull away. Not immediately. The accidental touch sent a forbidden pulse straight to her clit. Her hazel eyes widened slightly, betraying her. Pete noticed. Of course he noticed.

"Did I startle you?" he asked, voice dropping even lower. His hand remained near her leg, not retreating.

"No," she whispered. Then, stronger, "It's fine."

He studied her for a long moment. The air inside the SUV felt thicker, charged. Julia's breasts rose and fell faster. She could feel her conservative panties growing damp against her pussy, a reaction so sudden and intense it embarrassed her. This man was a stranger. A salesman. And her husband was fifty yards away filling out forms.

Pete finally stepped back, offering his hand again to help her down. This time his grip was firmer, more possessive. As she exited the vehicle, her body slid against his once more. She felt the hard plane of his chest, caught the scent of his skin. Her nipples were stiff peaks now, visibly pressing against her blouse if anyone cared to look.

"This SUV seems like a strong candidate," Pete said as they began walking back toward the office. His hand returned to the small of her back, guiding her. Each step made his fingers shift against her, a constant reminder of his presence. "But we have other models that might suit your particular needs even better. Something with more... responsiveness."

Julia's mind raced. She pictured Michael's face, his gentle smile, his complete trust in sending her out here alone with this man. The guilt twisted in her belly even as her body continued to respond to Pete's proximity. She had never been unfaithful. Never even considered it. Yet here she was, flushed and wet from nothing more than lingering glances and strategic brushes of skin.

They reached the office doors. Pete paused before opening them, turning to face her fully. He was close again. Too close for a casual conversation.

"You have incredible presence, Julia," he said quietly. "Most women who come in here let their husbands do all the talking. You seem like someone with a lot more to say than you're letting on. I'd love to hear those thoughts during a proper test drive. Tomorrow, perhaps? Just you and me so I can give you my full attention."

Her breath trembled. "Michael usually comes along for test drives."

"Of course," Pete replied smoothly. "But sometimes it's better to get the wife's honest opinion first. Men can be so focused on specs they miss what really matters." His eyes dropped to her mouth, then lower, tracing the curve of her breasts without shame. "You feel it, don't you? That little spark when you slide into a new vehicle. The way it makes you want to push the limits."

Before she could answer, the office door opened. Michael stepped out, folder in hand, looking pleased with himself.

"All done," he announced. "They've got everything pre-approved. Did you find something you like, honey?"

Julia forced a smile, stepping slightly away from Pete. The absence of his body heat felt strangely disappointing. "The black SUV is very comfortable. Lots of space."

Pete extended his hand to Michael again, but his eyes never left Julia. "Your wife has excellent taste. We were just discussing how important it is to find the perfect fit. The right vehicle can change everything about a trip. Make it unforgettable."

Michael nodded enthusiastically, completely oblivious to the undercurrent. "Great. When can we take one for a spin?"

"Tomorrow morning," Pete said. "I'll have the black one ready. But if it's alright with both of you, I'd like to start with Julia alone first. She can give me feedback on the ride from a passenger perspective. Then you can take the wheel after."

Julia's stomach flipped. She waited for Michael to object, to insist on joining her. Instead he shrugged.

"That makes sense," Michael said. "I'm swamped with work emails in the morning anyway. Jules can handle the initial impressions. She's the one who'll be sitting in it for two weeks straight."

Pete's smile was victorious though restrained. "Perfect. Julia, I'll look forward to giving you a thorough introduction. I have a feeling you're going to enjoy how this particular model performs."

She swallowed hard, nodding because she didn't trust her voice. As they walked back to their old car, Pete's lingering gaze followed her. She felt it on her ass, on the sway of her hips, on the bounce of her breasts with each step. The dampness between her legs had only grown.

Michael chatted happily about the paperwork, the route, the features he had circled. Julia murmured responses at the right moments, but her mind was elsewhere. On strong hands and piercing blue eyes. On the way her body had responded to nothing more than proximity and suggestion.

She told herself it was harmless. A fleeting attraction to a charismatic salesman. Tomorrow's test drive would be professional. She would keep her distance. She would remember her vows.

But as they pulled out of the lot, she caught Pete watching from the doorway, arms crossed over his broad chest. Their eyes met through the glass. He didn't wave. He simply held her gaze until the car turned the corner.

Julia pressed her thighs together again, trying to ignore the persistent throb of unwanted arousal. The road trip suddenly felt far more dangerous than it had that morning. And the worst part was how badly she wanted to see what would happen next.

Inside her chest, guilt and excitement warred for dominance. She glanced at Michael, who was humming along to the radio, completely unaware that the predator had already begun circling his wife. Julia closed her eyes and tried to breathe normally.

Tomorrow, she promised herself, she would be stronger. She would keep the walls firmly in place.

But even as she made the silent vow, she could still feel the ghost of Pete's touch on her knee, her waist, the side of her breast. Her body remembered. And it wanted more.
