Zero-G Ambush

Talia Carole drifted through the service hatch into the industrial ring, her boots magnetizing to the deck with a soft click that echoed in the low hum of the station's outer modules. The air smelled of recycled coolant and hot metal, thick enough to coat her tongue. She kept her movements precise, her lean frame cutting through the dim emergency lighting without wasted effort. At thirty-two, she had long since mastered the art of zero-g navigation, her gravity implant humming like a second heartbeat beneath her form-fitting armor.

Her short dark hair brushed the collar of her suit as she scanned the corridor ahead. Rourke Venn was in here somewhere, holed up with his black-market AI rigs and whatever stolen tech he had lifted from the last corporate shipment. Station command had given her the green light to neutralize him quietly. No backup. No witnesses. Just her and the rogue who thought he could outmaneuver corporate security on Orpheus itself.

She flexed her fingers and projected a localized gravity well ahead, pulling a loose panel from the wall to test the field. It slammed into the deck with satisfying force. Good. Her powers were steady. She advanced, boots releasing and re-engaging in smooth rhythm, cornering the space with the calm efficiency of someone who had done this a hundred times before.

"Venn," she called, voice clipped and professional. "You've got nowhere left to run. Power down the modules and step out. We can do this without turning the ring into a debris field."

No answer at first. Then a low chuckle drifted from the shadowed alcove at the far end. Rourke emerged slowly, his tailored dark suit catching the light, silver-threaded hair neat despite the environment. Subtle neural implants glinted at his temples. He looked unbothered, hands clasped behind his back like he was attending a board meeting instead of facing an elite operative.

"Commander Carole. Always so direct. I wondered how long it would take you to track me here."

Talia didn't slow. She raised her hand and tightened the gravity well around him, pinning his feet to the deck. His lean frame jerked forward, but he stayed upright, that same cool smile in place. She closed the distance, armor creaking faintly with each step.

"You're done. Station systems logged your signature on the theft. Surrender the AI cores and I'll make sure you get processed instead of spaced."

Rourke tilted his head, studying her with quiet interest. "You really believe that, don't you? That your little implant gives you the edge. Impressive display, by the way. Most operatives can't hold a well that tight without straining."

She ignored the praise and stepped closer, the well pressing harder. His knees buckled slightly. Professional satisfaction flickered through her. This was control. This was what she did.

Then something shifted behind her eyes. A faint pressure, like static crawling across her neural implant. The gravity well flickered. Talia frowned and pushed harder, but the field collapsed mid-strike. The panel she had pinned earlier floated free again, tumbling lazily in the zero-g pocket.

"What the hell?" she muttered, reaching for the backup controls on her wrist.

Rourke's smile widened, just a fraction. "Neural dampener. My design. It nullifies the implant without damaging it. Efficient, really. No need for messy physical restraints when the body can be... repurposed."

Heat bloomed low in her abdomen without warning. Talia gasped, the sound sharp and involuntary. Her thighs tensed inside the armor as a slow, pulsing warmth spread outward, licking at nerves she had never felt during a takedown. She staggered, one hand bracing against the bulkhead. The sensation wasn't pain. It was something far more treacherous, a deliberate feedback loop that made her pulse jump and her breath catch.

She tried to project another well, fingers curling, but nothing happened. The implant stayed silent. Panic edged into her professionalism for the first time in years.

"Turn it off," she ordered, voice still steady even as her knees threatened to give. "Whatever you're doing, it won't work. I'll have you on every feed in thirty seconds."

Rourke took a measured step forward, unhindered now. "I don't think you will, Talia. May I call you Talia? Your systems are already rerouted. And that warmth you're feeling? It's only the beginning. The dampener doesn't just suppress. It rewires. Pleasure centers first. Efficient conditioning for someone who relies so heavily on control."

Another pulse hit her, stronger this time. Her nipples tightened against the inner lining of her armor, and a slick warmth gathered between her legs. She bit back a sound, jaw clenched, but her hips shifted forward in an involuntary rock. The first real crack in her composure showed in the way her gray eyes widened, sharp focus blurring into something rawer.

"Stop," she managed, the word rough. "This is... this isn't going to break me."

He circled her slowly, voice calm and proprietary, like he was already cataloging assets. "You cornered me with such confidence. That professionalism is admirable. But bodies are honest, Commander. Yours is already responding. Feel it? The loop feeding on your own resistance. The more you fight, the deeper it settles."

Talia tried to straighten, to reach for the comm on her collar, but her fingers trembled. Another wave rolled through her, forcing a soft whimper past her lips before she could swallow it. Her free hand pressed against her lower belly, not to stop the sensation but almost to ground herself against it. The industrial ring felt suddenly too close, the recycled air too thick, every shift of fabric against her skin an electric reminder.

Rourke stopped in front of her, close enough that she could see the faint glow of his implants. "You're already mine in the ways that matter. The rest is just time and calibration. You'll learn to appreciate the efficiency of it."

She met his gaze, breathing hard, the last threads of her dominance display fraying as another involuntary clench rippled through her core. The fight had shifted. Not in the ring or the station logs, but inside her, where control was slipping into something she had never trained for.

And Rourke watched it happen with the quiet satisfaction of a man who had already won.
