The Rivalry Ignites
The August sun baked the practice field into a furnace, heat waves shimmering off the artificial turf like smoke from a slow fire. Tyler Brooks wiped sweat from his brow with the back of his glove and spat onto the ground, his lungs burning from the third consecutive sprint drill. He loved this feeling. The grind. The punishment. It was where he lived, where he proved he belonged.
But today, something felt different. Wrong.
Gabriel Soto moved through the receiving drill like he owned the field. The veteran tight end had only been with the team for two weeks, transferred from Denver in a trade that had made headlines across the league. At thirty-two, he was supposed to be past his prime. A stopgap. A veteran presence to mentor the younger guys.
Nobody told Gabriel that.
He ran a crisp slant route, planted his foot, and snatched the ball out of the air with hands that looked more like bear traps than human appendages. His lean frame cut through the defense like a knife, and when the safety tried to lay a hit on him, Gabriel absorbed the contact and kept moving like nothing happened.
Tyler's jaw tightened. He'd been watching Gabriel all practice, tracking his every move with a mixture of professional assessment and something else. Something personal that coiled in his gut every time the veteran's jersey rode up to reveal a sliver of taut brown stomach. The guy was good. Really good. And Tyler hated that. Hated how his eyes kept drifting back, hated the strange pull in his chest when Gabriel smiled after a clean catch.
"Brooks, you're up against Soto on the next rep," Coach Klein barked from the sideline, his clipboard held against his barrel chest. "Let's see what you got against a real tight end."
Tyler's blood heated. He jogged into position across from Gabriel, squaring up in his linebacker stance. The pads creaked as he settled his weight, his eyes locked on the veteran's chest, reading for any tell, any hint of the route he was about to run.
Gabriel met his gaze and smiled. Not a cocky smile. Not a nervous one. Just calm. Certain. Like he already knew how this was going to go.
"Ready, rookie?" Gabriel's voice was smooth, unhurried. The words washed over Tyler like warm honey.
"I'm not a rookie," Tyler growled. "I've been in this league four years."
"Then you should know better."
The whistle blew.
Gabriel exploded off the line, his first step a blur of power and precision. Tyler mirrored him, staying low, staying square, his hands ready to engage. But Gabriel wasn't trying to overpower him. He was smarter than that. He stutter-stepped, froze Tyler's hips for half a second, then cut inside so sharp that Tyler's momentum carried him past the break.
For a fleeting moment, their bodies collided. Tyler felt the hard planes of Gabriel's chest against his shoulder pads, the heat of him even through the layers of equipment. Then Gabriel was gone, catching the pass in stride, five yards upfield before Tyler could recover.
"Damn," someone on the sideline muttered.
Tyler's face burned. He ripped his helmet off and slammed it against his thigh, the impact jarring up through his hip. "Lucky route," he spat.
Gabriel jogged back, his breathing steady, his dark hair plastered to his forehead. Sweat traced the lines of his jaw, dripped from his chin onto the collar of his practice jersey. "Lucky? You were out of position before the ball left the quarterback's hand. You bit on the fake like it was your first day playing this game."
"I didn't bite on anything."
"You did. And you know it." Gabriel's brown eyes held no malice, just a calm certainty that made Tyler want to punch something. Or grab him. Or something. "You're fast. You're strong. But you're predictable. You think every play is about hitting someone, about being the biggest guy on the field. That's not football. That's just violence."
"It's football," Tyler snapped. "It's about dominating the guy across from you."
"Is it?" Gabriel tilted his head, studying him like he was a puzzle to solve. His gaze dropped to Tyler's mouth for just a second before climbing back up. "Is that what you think this is about? Because from where I'm standing, it looks like you're trying to prove something. And that's the fastest way to lose."
The words hit Tyler like a cold slap. He opened his mouth to respond, but Coach Klein called for the next drill, and Gabriel turned away like the conversation was already over.
The rest of practice was a blur of frustration and barely contained rage. Tyler couldn't focus. Every rep, every drill, he saw Gabriel's calm face, heard his measured voice, felt the phantom pressure of their bodies colliding. By the time the final whistle blew, Tyler's nerves were raw, his patience shredded, his skin prickling with something he refused to name.
He stalked toward the locker room, his cleats clattering against the concrete floor of the tunnel. The cool air hit his sweat-soaked skin, raising goosebumps along his arms. He didn't care. He needed to get away from the field, from the eyes that had watched him get schooled by a thirty-two-year-old has-been.
"Brooks."
The voice stopped him mid-stride. Tyler turned to find Gabriel leaning against the wall, his practice jersey already off, revealing a torso that was all lean muscle and old scars. His skin gleamed with sweat, the definition of his abs sharp in the dim tunnel light. He held a water bottle in one hand, his expression unreadable.
"What do you want, Soto?"
"To talk." Gabriel pushed off the wall and walked toward him, his steps unhurried. "You've got something stuck in your craw, and I want to know what it is."
"You know what it is. You showed me up out there. In front of everyone."
"I ran a route. You played defense. That's how the game works."
"Don't give me that bullshit." Tyler's voice rose, echoing off the concrete walls. "You were showing off. Making a point. You wanted everyone to see that the new guy could take down the star linebacker."
Gabriel stopped a few feet away, his eyes narrowing. "Is that what you think? That I was trying to embarrass you?"
"I know you were."
"Then you don't know anything." Gabriel's voice dropped, losing its calm edge, gaining something harder underneath. Something that made Tyler's pulse jump. "I was running my routes. Doing my job. You're the one who turned it into a competition. You're the one who couldn't handle getting beat on a single rep. That's not about me. That's about you and your ego."
Tyler's fists clenched at his sides. Every muscle in his body screamed to lash out, to hit something, to prove that he was still the alpha, still the top dog. But Gabriel didn't flinch. He just stood there, waiting, like he knew Tyler wouldn't throw the punch. Like he knew Tyler wanted something else entirely.
"You think you're better than me?" Tyler's voice came out low, rough.
"I think I'm more experienced. I think I've been in this league long enough to know that talent only gets you so far. The rest is mental. And you, Brooks, you've got a lot of work to do on the mental side."
"Then prove it." The words came out before Tyler could stop them. "Right now. You and me. A real contest. No routes, no plays. Just strength. Whoever wins, the other one shuts up and admits they were wrong."
Gabriel's eyebrows rose. A slow smile spread across his face, and for a moment, Tyler thought he saw something flash in those dark eyes. Something hungry. Something that made the air between them feel thick.
"You sure about that?"
"I'm sure."
"One rep. Bench press. Max weight. Whoever puts up more wins."
Tyler's chest swelled with confidence. He'd been benching since high school, had the strongest upper body on the team. This was his game. "You're on."
They moved to the weight room, the clang of iron echoing off the walls. The rest of the team had mostly cleared out, heading for showers or meetings, leaving the two of them alone in the cavernous space. Fluorescent lights hummed overhead, casting harsh shadows across the rows of equipment.
Gabriel loaded the bar with 315 pounds, then added another forty-five on each side. 405. Tyler's max. He watched, his stomach tightening as Gabriel kept adding weight. 455. 495.
"You sure you can handle that?" Tyler asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
"Can you?"
Tyler didn't answer. He stepped up to the bar, gripping the knurling with sweaty hands. The weight felt impossibly heavy as he unracked it, the bar bending slightly under the load. He took a breath, then lowered it to his chest.
The press was a war. Every muscle screamed, every fiber of his being focused on pushing the weight back up. His vision went spotty at the midpoint, but he fought through it, driving the bar up until his arms locked.
He racked it with a grunt, his chest heaving.
"Your turn," he gasped, stepping back.
Gabriel approached the bar with the same calm confidence he'd shown on the field. He didn't test the grip. Didn't psych himself up. He just lay down, took a breath, and pressed.
The bar moved like it weighed nothing.
Up, down, up. Three clean reps. He racked the weight and sat up, his breathing barely elevated. His chest rose and fell in a controlled rhythm, the muscles of his pecs flexing as he leaned forward. Tyler couldn't stop his eyes from tracing the lines of Gabriel's body, the way his shoulders tapered to his waist, the trail of dark hair disappearing into his shorts.
"Four hundred ninety-five is my working weight," Gabriel said, his voice flat. "I can push five-fifty on a good day. You want to keep going?"
Tyler stared at the bar, his mind blank. He'd just maxed out. Pushed his absolute limit. And Gabriel had made it look like a warm-up set.
"How?" The word came out before Tyler could stop it.
"Years of training. Discipline. Knowing when to push and when to recover." Gabriel stood, his body casting a long shadow across the weight room floor. "You've got raw power, Brooks. But raw power isn't enough. You need control. You need patience. You need to learn how to submit to the process before you can master it."
"Submit?" The word tasted bitter on Tyler's tongue. Or maybe not bitter. Maybe something else entirely.
"That was the wager, wasn't it? Winner takes all. Loser submits to the winner's training regimen for a month." Gabriel's voice dropped, becoming something darker, more intimate. The shift was subtle but undeniable, and it made the hair on Tyler's neck stand up. "I won. Which means you're mine for the next thirty days."
Mine. The word hung in the air between them, heavy with implication. Tyler's heart hammered against his ribs. He'd agreed to the terms without thinking, without considering what it actually meant. Training regimen. That was all. Just training.
But the way Gabriel said it made his skin prickle with something that wasn't quite fear. Something that pooled low in his belly and spread heat through his veins.
"What exactly does that mean?" Tyler asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Gabriel stepped closer. Close enough that Tyler could smell the sweat and soap on his skin, could see the flecks of gold in his brown eyes. Close enough that if either of them breathed too deep, their chests would touch. "It means you follow my instructions. You show up when I tell you to show up. You do what I tell you to do. No excuses. No complaints. For one month, you're my project."
"And if I refuse?"
"You won't refuse." Gabriel's voice was quiet now, almost tender, but there was iron underneath it. "Because you're not a quitter. You're a competitor. And somewhere underneath all that arrogance, you know that I can make you better. If you let me."
His hand came up, and for a wild moment Tyler thought Gabriel was going to touch his face. But the veteran just rested his palm flat against Tyler's chest, feeling the thundering heartbeat beneath the sweat-damp skin. He held it there for a long moment, his eyes never leaving Tyler's.
"Your heart's racing," Gabriel murmured. "That's good. It means you're alive. It means you feel something."
Tyler swallowed hard. The warmth of Gabriel's palm burned through his skin like a brand. He should step back. Should laugh in his face. Should do anything other than stand here, frozen, hyper-aware of every point of contact between them.
"Fine," he said, the word scraping past his lips like broken glass. "One month. But when it's over, you and me. Rematch. And I won't lose twice."
Gabriel smiled, and this time there was warmth in it. Real warmth. His thumb traced a small circle against Tyler's chest before he pulled his hand away, leaving the skin tingling in its absence. "I'm counting on it. Tomorrow morning. Six o'clock. My place. I'll text you the address."
"Tomorrow's a rest day."
"Not anymore."
Gabriel turned and walked toward the showers, and Tyler couldn't stop his eyes from following the movement of his shoulders, the shift of muscle beneath skin, the confident roll of his hips. At the doorway, Gabriel paused and looked back over his shoulder.
"Get some sleep tonight, Brooks. You're going to need your energy."
Then he was gone, leaving Tyler standing alone in the weight room, surrounded by iron and silence. The fluorescent lights hummed above him, and somewhere in the distance, he heard the click of a door closing.
He stood there for a long moment, his muscles aching, his mind spinning, the ghost of Gabriel's palm still burning against his chest. He'd just agreed to submit to another man. To follow orders. To be controlled.
The thought should have made him sick. Should have made him rage.
But as he stood there in the empty weight room, sweat cooling on his skin, Tyler felt something else. Something that stirred low in his groin and spread upward until his whole body thrummed with it. Something he didn't have a name for.
Something that scared him more than losing ever could.
He grabbed his bag and headed for the showers, his footsteps echoing in the silence. His mind raced with images of Gabriel's body, his voice, his touch. Tomorrow, everything changed. And there was no going back.

First Yield
The address led to a high rise in the exclusive part of the city. Tyler stood outside the building, his duffel bag slung over one shoulder, and stared up at the glass tower. He could see his own reflection in the lobby doors. He looked like he was walking into a trap.
He told himself he was just following through on a bet. That was all. A month of training. Nothing else.
The elevator ride to the penthouse felt too long. The doors opened directly into a private foyer, and Gabriel was already waiting, leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed. He wore loose training shorts and a tank top that showed off the lean, corded muscle of his arms. He looked relaxed. In control.
"You're early," Gabriel said. "Good. I hate waiting."
Tyler stepped off the elevator. "Let's just get this over with."
"That's the spirit." Gabriel pushed off the frame and gestured inside. "Drop your bag. We start in ten."
The condo was massive. Floor to ceiling windows showed the skyline. The gym was off the main living area, a separate room with rubber flooring, racks of weights, and a padded mat in the center. It smelled clean, like disinfectant and leather.
Tyler dropped his bag by the door and rolled his shoulders. He'd been in gyms his whole life. This was just another room. Nothing to be nervous about.
But his hands were sweating.
Gabriel led him through a warm up that was deceptively simple. Stretches. Mobility work. Things Tyler usually skipped. Gabriel corrected his form with light touches. A hand on his hip to adjust his angle. Fingers pressing into his lower back to deepen a stretch. Each touch was brief, professional, but it left a trail of heat on Tyler's skin.
"You're tight," Gabriel said, standing close. "You carry all your tension in your hips and shoulders. We're going to fix that."
"I'm fine."
"You're not. But you will be."
The drills started. Sled pushes that made Tyler's legs burn. Agility ladder work that left him gasping. Resistance band exercises that targeted muscles he didn't know he had. Gabriel didn't push him to failure. He pushed him to the edge and kept him there, minute after minute, correcting every mistake, demanding perfect form.
"Again," Gabriel said, his voice calm and steady.
Tyler dropped into another set of lunges, his thighs screaming. Sweat dripped off his chin. His breath came in ragged pulls.
"You're dropping your back knee. Straighten it."
"I can't."
"You can. Do it."
Tyler forced his knee up. The burn intensified. He held the position, shaking, until Gabriel nodded once.
"Good. Rest."
Tyler collapsed onto the mat, chest heaving. He pressed his palms into his eyes. His whole body was on fire. He'd been through brutal practices before, but this was different. This was personal. Gabriel was watching every move, cataloging every weakness.
Gabriel handed him a water bottle. "Drink."
Tyler took it, gulping down half the bottle. Water ran down his chin, and he wiped it with the back of his hand. "What's next?"
"Cool down. Then massage."
"I don't need a massage."
"Your muscles do. Lie down."
There was no room for argument. Tyler hesitated, then stretched out on the mat, face down. He turned his head to the side, watching Gabriel out of the corner of his eye. Gabriel grabbed a bottle of oil from a shelf and squirted some into his palms, rubbing them together.
"This will help with recovery," Gabriel said. "Just relax."
Gabriel's hands landed on Tyler's shoulders. The touch was firm, warm. The oil made his skin slick. Gabriel worked his thumbs into the knots along Tyler's spine, pressing deep, finding spots Tyler didn't know were sore. A groan escaped Tyler's throat before he could stop it.
"Told you," Gabriel said. "You're tight."
His hands moved down, working over Tyler's lats, then his lower back. The pressure was perfect. Tyler's muscles started to release, melting under Gabriel's palms. His eyes drifted half closed. The exhaustion from the workout combined with the sensation was making him drowsy.
Then Gabriel's hands moved lower.
His thumbs traced the edge of Tyler's waistband, dipping just beneath the fabric. They pressed into the muscles of Tyler's glutes, working deep circles into the tight tissue. Tyler tensed, but Gabriel's hands were steady, unrelenting.
"Relax," Gabriel said, his voice lower now. "This is part of the process."
Tyler forced himself to breathe. The touch felt good. Too good. His body was responding in ways he didn't want to acknowledge. He kept his eyes fixed on the mat, trying to focus on anything else.
Gabriel's hands slid down Tyler's hamstrings, then his calves. He worked each muscle with methodical precision. Then he moved back up, his palms gliding over Tyler's thighs. Higher. Slower.
Tyler's breath caught.
Gabriel's fingers brushed against Tyler's groin. Light. Accidental. But they didn't pull away. They pressed closer, palm flattening against the growing heat beneath Tyler's shorts.
"What are you doing?" Tyler's voice came out rough.
"Checking for tension."
Gabriel's hand moved in a slow circle. Tyler's body betrayed him, his cock hardening under the pressure. He squeezed his eyes shut. This wasn't happening. This couldn't be happening.
"You're hard," Gabriel said. It wasn't a question.
"That's just... it's a reflex."
"Is it?"
Gabriel's hand pressed harder, palm grinding against Tyler's erection through the fabric of his shorts. Tyler's hips twitched, pressing back into the touch. He couldn't help it. The sensation was overwhelming.
"I don't..." Tyler started.
"Shh." Gabriel's voice was soft. "Don't think. Just feel."
His hand moved in a slow, deliberate rhythm. Tyler's breath came in short gasps. He was hard, aching, and Gabriel was touching him like he owned him. Like this was just another part of the training.
"This is part of the deal," Gabriel said. "Your body is learning to submit. To trust."
"I didn't agree to this."
"You agreed to everything."
Gabriel hooked his fingers into the waistband of Tyler's shorts and pulled them down, just enough to free his cock. The cool air hit his heated skin, and Tyler gasped. Gabriel's hand wrapped around him, firm and dry, and started to stroke.
Tyler's mind screamed at him to stop. To pull away. To end this. But his body was already lost. The pleasure was too sharp, too intense. He was trembling, his hands fisted in the mat, his hips rocking into Gabriel's grip.
"That's it," Gabriel murmured. "Let go."
Tyler's orgasm hit him like a freight train. He came with a broken moan, his body shuddering, his release spilling over Gabriel's fingers. He lay there, panting, his face buried in the mat, shame and pleasure warring in his chest.
Gabriel's hand stayed on him, gentle now, stroking him through the aftershocks. Then he pulled away. Tyler heard him clean his hands. Heard the rustle of fabric.
"Get cleaned up," Gabriel said, his voice back to normal. "We're done for today."
Tyler didn't move. He couldn't. His body was limp, his mind a storm of confusion. He'd just let another man touch him. He'd come from it. He'd liked it.
He heard Gabriel walk away. The door clicked shut.
Tyler rolled onto his back, staring at the ceiling. His skin was still hot. His heart was still racing. He pressed a hand to his face and let out a shaky breath.
What the hell was happening to him?
Shower Confession
The roar of the crowd still rang in Tyler's ears as he pushed through the tunnel toward the locker room. They'd won. A solid twenty-four to seventeen victory that put them two games ahead in the division. His body thrummed with the familiar high of victory, muscles loose and warm from the game's exertion.
But something else burned beneath that surface. A heat that had nothing to do with football.
He'd felt Gabriel's eyes on him all game. Every time he made a tackle, every time he pumped his fist on the sideline, that steady brown gaze tracked him. It was like being watched by a predator who knew exactly when to strike.
The locker room erupted in cheers and slaps on the back. Jake clapped Tyler's shoulder hard enough to sting. "Hell of a game, Brooks. That sack in the third quarter was nasty."
"Yeah, well, someone had to show the new guy how it's done." Tyler's words came out rougher than he intended. He didn't look toward Gabriel's locker. Didn't need to. He could feel him there, a constant pressure at the edge of his awareness.
"Showers are filling up fast," Jake said, already pulling off his jersey. "You want in before the hot water runs out?"
Tyler's stomach tightened. The team showers. Big, open, tiled. Steam and noise and bodies. He'd never thought twice about them before. But now the idea of standing naked under hot water with Gabriel somewhere in the mist made his pulse skip in ways he didn't want to examine.
"Yeah. Sure." He stripped off his pads, his practice jersey, his sweat-soaked undershirt. The air hit his skin, cool and welcome. He grabbed his towel and headed for the shower room.
The steam wrapped around him as he stepped under the spray. Hot water pounded his shoulders, his back, working out the knots that three quarters of hard hitting had left behind. He closed his eyes and let his head drop forward, letting the heat do its work.
That's when he heard the footsteps.
Heavy. Deliberate. Coming closer.
Tyler's eyes snapped open. Gabriel stood at the edge of the spray, water beading on his olive skin, his dark hair plastered to his forehead. He was naked. Completely, unapologetically naked. And he was looking at Tyler with that same calm, predatory focus he'd worn all game.
"Gabe." Tyler kept his tone flat. Neutral. "Shower's big enough for both of us."
"That it is." Gabriel stepped under the stream next to him, close enough that Tyler could feel the warmth radiating off his body. "Good game tonight."
"Yeah. We pulled it together."
"You pulled it together. That sack was textbook." Gabriel's hand came up, water sluicing over his fingers as he reached toward Tyler's shoulder. "You've got good instincts out there."
Tyler flinched back before he could stop himself. "What are you doing?"
"Checking on my investment." Gabriel's voice dropped low, intimate, barely audible over the rush of water. "You're still mine for another three weeks, Brooks. Or did you forget our little arrangement?"
Heat flooded Tyler's face. He hadn't forgotten. Not for a single second. Every night he lay in bed replaying the feel of Gabriel's hands on him, the sound of his voice telling him to breathe, to relax, to let go. Every morning he woke hard and aching and furious at himself for wanting more.
"I haven't forgotten."
"Good." Gabriel stepped closer, his body blocking Tyler's exit. The tile was cold against Tyler's back. Gabriel's chest was warm, solid, inches away. "Because I've been thinking about what comes next."
Someone laughed in the far corner of the shower room. Another player, maybe Jake, maybe someone else. The sound snapped Tyler back to reality. They weren't alone. They were surrounded by teammates, by people who would talk, who would notice, who would ask questions Tyler couldn't answer.
"Not here," Tyler hissed. "Someone could see."
"No one's looking." Gabriel's palm landed on Tyler's hip, fingers pressing into the muscle there. "They're all too busy celebrating. And even if they were looking, what would they see? Two teammates talking after a win."
His hand slid lower, tracing the line of Tyler's hipbone, the sensitive skin where thigh met groin. Tyler's breath caught. His cock, traitor that it was, started to thicken under the hot spray.
"Gabe. Stop." The words came out weak, breathless, nothing like the command he'd intended.
"You don't want me to stop." Gabriel's mouth brushed Tyler's ear, his voice a low rumble. "I can feel how much you don't want me to stop. You're hard for me, Brooks. Just from me touching your hip. That's how much you want this."
It was true. God help him, it was true. Tyler's cock stood full and heavy between them, impossible to hide, impossible to deny. The shame burned through him, hot and sharp, but underneath it ran something else. A current that wanted Gabriel to keep going.
"What are you going to do?" Tyler heard himself ask. The question came out rough, almost a growl, but there was no mistaking the surrender in it.
Gabriel's grip tightened on his hip. "I'm going to show you what it feels like to serve. Really serve. Not just follow orders in a gym. Not just take what I give you. I want your mouth on me, Brooks. I want to feel you choke on my cock and I want to hear you beg for more."
The words hit Tyler like a physical blow. His knees went weak. His cock throbbed, leaking pre-come into the water streaming down his thighs. Every instinct screamed at him to push away, to laugh it off, to reclaim the control he was hemorrhaging by the second.
But he didn't move.
"Someone will see," he said again, but his voice cracked on the last word.
"No one will see." Gabriel's hand slid around to Tyler's ass, pulling him closer. Their cocks brushed, a brief electric contact that made them both gasp. "But if you're scared, we can do this somewhere else. My place. After everyone's gone."
Tyler's heart hammered against his ribs. This was insane. The most insane thing he'd ever considered. He was Tyler Brooks, starting linebacker, face of the franchise, straight as an arrow. He didn't suck cock in locker room showers. He didn't follow older men into dark corners to do unspeakable things.
But he also didn't get hard from another man's touch. He didn't lie awake at night replaying the feel of a hand on his dick. He didn't spend every practice hyperaware of where Gabriel was, what he was doing, whether he was watching.
He did all those things now.
"After everyone's gone," Tyler said. The words tasted like surrender. Like confession.
Gabriel smiled, slow and satisfied. "I'll be waiting." He stepped back, letting the water separate them, and Tyler felt the loss like a physical ache. "Don't keep me waiting too long, Brooks."
He turned and walked away, disappearing into the steam. Tyler stood frozen under the spray, his cock still hard, his mind still reeling, the taste of what he'd just agreed to bitter and sweet on his tongue.
He stayed in the shower long after the water ran cold.
The locker room emptied slowly. Players trickled out in twos and threes, heading for the parking lot, for bars, for home. Jake stopped by Tyler's locker, clapped him on the shoulder, asked if he wanted to grab a beer. Tyler made some excuse. He didn't remember what. His whole body hummed with nervous energy, his skin too tight, his thoughts too loud.
Finally, the door swung shut behind the last player. Tyler was alone.
He sat on the bench in front of his locker, still in his towel, staring at nothing. He could leave. He could get dressed, walk out to his truck, drive home, and pretend this conversation never happened. Gabriel wouldn't chase him. That wasn't his style.
But Tyler knew, with a certainty that made his stomach clench, that if he walked out now he'd regret it forever. He'd spend the rest of his life wondering what it would have felt like to give in. To let go. To let Gabriel take what he'd offered.
He stood up. His legs felt unsteady. He grabbed his gym bag, pulled on a pair of sweats and a t-shirt, and walked toward the door that led to the players' parking lot.
Gabriel's car was still there. A sleek black SUV, parked under a flickering light. The driver's door opened as Tyler approached, and Gabriel stepped out.
"I wasn't sure you'd come."
"Neither was I." Tyler's words came out hoarse. "But I'm here."
Gabriel studied him for a long moment, his dark eyes unreadable in the dim light. Then he nodded, once, and gestured toward the passenger door. "Get in."
Tyler got in.
The drive to Gabriel's place was short, silent, charged with a tension Tyler couldn't name. He stared out the window at the city lights blurring past, his hands clenched in his lap, his heart pounding so hard he could hear it in his ears.
Gabriel's condo was in a sleek high-rise downtown. They rode the elevator in silence, stood in the hallway in silence, and when Gabriel unlocked the door and gestured him inside, Tyler stepped over the threshold into a space that felt like the edge of a cliff.
The apartment was modern, clean, with floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out over the city. Gabriel didn't offer him a drink. Didn't make small talk. He just turned to face Tyler, arms crossed, that calm, commanding presence filling the room.
"Last chance to back out," Gabriel said. "Once we start, I don't stop until I'm satisfied. You understand?"
Tyler swallowed. His mouth was dry. His hands were shaking. "I understand."
"Tell me what you want."
"I want..." Tyler's voice cracked. He tried again. "I want to do this. I want to... I want you to show me."
Gabriel stepped closer. His hand came up, cupping Tyler's jaw, tilting his face up. His thumb brushed across Tyler's lower lip, soft and deliberate. "Open."
Tyler opened his mouth.
Gabriel's thumb slid inside, pressing down on his tongue. Tyler's eyes fluttered closed. The taste of salt and skin filled his mouth, and a knot in his chest loosened, one he'd been holding tight for so long he'd forgotten it was there.
"That's it," Gabriel murmured. "That's my good boy."
Praise. Warm and unexpected, it washed through Tyler like a shot of whiskey. He wanted more. He wanted to earn it.
Gabriel withdrew his thumb and stepped back. He stripped off his shirt, his jeans, standing naked in the soft light of the living room. His body was lean and hard, all muscle and grace, and his cock stood thick and heavy, curving up toward his stomach.
Tyler's breath caught. He'd seen Gabriel naked in the shower, but this was different. This was intentional. This was for him.
"Kneel," Gabriel said.
Tyler dropped to his knees. The carpet was soft beneath him. His heart was a wild drum in his chest. He looked up at Gabriel, waiting, trembling.
Gabriel stepped closer, his cock inches from Tyler's face. "You've never done this before."
It wasn't a question, but Tyler shook his head anyway. "No."
"Then I'll go slow. But you have to trust me. Can you do that?"
Tyler looked up at him, at the warmth in those dark eyes, the patience, the control. "Yes."
"Good." Gabriel's hand found Tyler's hair, fingers threading through the short strands, gripping gently. "Open your mouth."
Tyler opened.
The first touch of Gabriel's cock against his lips was electric. Tyler's whole body jolted, a shock of sensation that went straight to his groin. He parted his lips further, and Gabriel pushed forward, sliding into the heat of his mouth.
Tyler's instincts took over. He closed his lips around the shaft, his tongue pressing against the underside. The taste was overwhelming. Salt and skin and a deeper flavor, muskier, purely male. His eyes watered. His throat tightened.
"Breathe through your nose," Gabriel said, his voice strained. "Relax your jaw. You're doing so well, Tyler. So fucking well."
The praise hit him like a drug. Tyler moaned around Gabriel's cock, the vibration making Gabriel gasp. He took more, letting the thick length slide deeper, feeling it press against the back of his throat.
He gagged. Pulled back. Coughed.
"Easy." Gabriel's hand stroked his hair, soothing. "We have time. Don't rush."
Tyler looked up at him, eyes wet, mouth open. "I want to do it right."
"You will. But you have to learn your limits first." Gabriel guided him forward again, slower this time. "Just the tip. Suck on it like you're tasting something sweet."
Tyler obeyed. He closed his lips around the head of Gabriel's cock, sucking gently, his tongue swirling around the sensitive ridge. Gabriel's breath hissed out above him. His grip tightened in Tyler's hair.
"Yes. Like that. Fuck, that's perfect."
Warmth spread through Tyler's chest. Pride. Pleasure. He was doing this. He was making Gabriel feel good. He was on his knees, with a cock in his mouth, and he wanted more.
He took Gabriel deeper. Slow. Careful. Letting his throat adjust. The stretch was intense, almost painful, but the pleasure that rippled through him at Gabriel's groan of approval made it worth it.
"That's it. Take all of it." Gabriel's hips moved, a shallow thrust, pushing deeper into Tyler's throat. "God, your mouth feels incredible."
Tyler's own cock ached, trapped in his sweats, leaking against his thigh. He wanted to touch himself. He wanted Gabriel to touch him. But he didn't dare stop, didn't dare break the rhythm they'd found.
He pulled back, gasping, strings of saliva connecting his lips to Gabriel's shaft. He licked them away, then pressed his tongue flat against the underside of Gabriel's cock, dragging it slowly from base to tip. Gabriel shuddered above him, fingers clenching in his hair.
"Fuck, Tyler. Where'd you learn that?"
"Didn't learn it," Tyler mumbled against his skin. "Just... following instincts."
"Good instincts." Gabriel's voice was rough, wrecked. "Do it again."
Tyler did. He traced the thick vein running along the underside of Gabriel's cock with the tip of his tongue, mapping every ridge and contour. He swirled around the head, dipping into the slit, tasting the bitter salt of pre-come that had gathered there. Gabriel's thighs trembled. His breathing came in sharp, shallow bursts.
"Now take me deep again," Gabriel commanded. "All the way. I want to feel your throat around me."
Tyler steadied himself. He opened wide, relaxed his jaw, and sank forward. Gabriel's cock filled his mouth, pressed against the back of his throat, and this time he fought the gag reflex. He breathed hard through his nose, tears streaming down his cheeks, and pushed further. His throat opened. Gabriel slid deeper, impossibly deep, and Tyler felt a surge of triumph mix with the overwhelm.
"That's it. That's it. Fuck, Tyler, you're taking me so well." Gabriel's hips rolled, a slow, controlled thrust that pushed even deeper. Tyler's nose pressed against Gabriel's pelvis, his chin against Gabriel's balls. He could feel the cock pulsing in his throat, alive and hot, and the fullness was staggering.
He pulled back just enough to breathe, then sank down again. Found a rhythm. Gabriel's hand guided him, setting the pace, and Tyler followed. In and out. Deep and deeper. His jaw ached. His throat burned. But every thrust, every muffled groan Gabriel let slip, sent another jolt of electricity straight to his neglected cock.
"Touch yourself," Gabriel said, his voice ragged. "I want to see you touch yourself while you suck me."
Tyler's hand shook as he shoved it into his sweats. His cock was slick with pre-come, hot and hard against his palm. He wrapped his fingers around himself and groaned around Gabriel's shaft as he started to stroke.
The dual sensation was almost too much. The fullness in his mouth, the friction on his cock. His hips bucked forward into his own fist while his mouth worked Gabriel's shaft. Saliva dripped down his chin. Tears tracked down his cheeks. He looked up at Gabriel through wet lashes and saw the other man staring down at him with an expression that made his chest ache.
"You're beautiful like this," Gabriel breathed. "On your knees for me. Mouth full. Cock in your hand. This is where you belong, Tyler. This is what you were made for."
The words hit harder than any tackle he'd ever taken. Tyler's hand moved faster on his cock, matching the rhythm of his mouth on Gabriel's. He was close. They both were. The air crackled with it.
Gabriel's thrusts grew more urgent, more erratic. His grip in Tyler's hair tightened to the edge of pain. "I'm close," he warned. "If you don't want me to come in your mouth, pull back now."
Tyler didn't pull back. He looked up at Gabriel, meeting his eyes, and sucked harder. His tongue worked the underside of Gabriel's cock while his lips sealed tight around the shaft. He wanted this. He wanted to feel Gabriel come apart. He wanted to taste it.
Gabriel's whole body went rigid. His hand fisted in Tyler's hair, holding him in place as his cock pulsed, hot and thick, flooding Tyler's mouth with come. The first burst hit the back of his throat and Tyler swallowed, gagging slightly but refusing to pull away. The second came faster, thicker, and he swallowed that too. Gabriel groaned, long and low, his hips jerking as he emptied himself. Tyler kept sucking, kept swallowing, milking every last drop until Gabriel's cock softened against his tongue.
When Gabriel finally pulled back, Tyler's mouth was empty, his lips swollen and numb, his throat raw. He looked up at Gabriel, dazed, trembling, his own cock still aching in his fist.
Gabriel stared down at him, chest heaving, eyes dark with awe. "You did so well." His voice was rough, tender. "So fucking perfect."
Then his gaze dropped to Tyler's hand, still wrapped around his own cock. "Finish for me. I want to watch."
Tyler's hand moved before his brain caught up. He stroked himself faster, harder, his eyes locked on Gabriel's face. Gabriel watched him with that same focused intensity, those dark eyes tracking every twitch of Tyler's hand, every flutter of his expression.
"That's it," Gabriel murmured. "Show me. Show me how much you liked having my cock in your mouth."
The orgasm hit Tyler like a freight train. His back arched, his hips bucked, and he came in thick ropes across his own stomach and chest, gasping Gabriel's name as the pleasure ripped through him. His hand kept moving, milking himself through the aftershocks, until he was spent and shaking and empty.
He slumped forward, forehead pressing against Gabriel's thigh, gasping for breath. Gabriel's hand found his hair again, stroking gently, and Tyler let himself lean into the touch.
"Good boy," Gabriel said softly. "Good boy."
Tyler's face burned. His body shook. The shame was there, lurking at the edges, but it was drowned out by a louder feeling. A terrifying, exhilarating sensation that felt like joy.
He'd liked it. He'd liked every second of it. And that knowledge, more than anything else, was the confession he couldn't take back.
Gabriel helped him to his feet, pulled him into a rough embrace. "Come on. Let's get you cleaned up."
He led Tyler to the bathroom, guided him under a warm shower, washed the tears and sweat and come from his skin. Tyler stood silent, letting Gabriel handle him, letting himself be cared for. Gabriel's hands were gentle now, thorough, running warm water over his shoulders, his back, his chest. He washed Tyler's hair, massaging his scalp, and Tyler closed his eyes and let the intimacy wash over him.
When they were dry and dressed, Gabriel walked him to the door. He didn't kiss him. Didn't make promises. He just looked at Tyler with those steady brown eyes and said, "Same time tomorrow. My place."
Tyler nodded. His voice was gone. His identity lay in pieces at his feet. But for the first time in years, he felt like he was exactly where he was supposed to be.
He walked to his truck, got in, and sat in the dark for a long time, tasting Gabriel on his tongue, wondering who he was becoming.
Weekend Takeover
Tyler's truck sat in Gabriel's driveway like a warning. He killed the engine and stared at the modern glass and steel condo that rose before him. Three full days of submission stretched ahead. His hands gripped the steering wheel until his knuckles went white.
The drive had been a loop of memory he couldn't shut off. The taste of Gabriel still lived on his tongue. The way his own body had betrayed him in that shower, arching into that mouth like something starving. He'd come harder than he had in months, and the shame still burned through his gut like acid.
So why couldn't he stop thinking about it?
He grabbed his duffel and walked up the stone path. The door opened before he could knock.
Gabriel stood there in a fitted black t-shirt and gray sweatpants, looking like he owned the world. Those dark eyes swept over Tyler with that calm, assessing gaze that made his skin prickle.
"Right on time," Gabriel said. "I appreciate that."
"I'm not late for shit." Tyler stepped past him into the foyer. The condo opened into a massive living room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the city. Leather furniture. Abstract art. A kitchen that belonged in a magazine spread.
"Nice place." The words came out grudging.
"It's just space." Gabriel closed the door, and the lock clicked with finality. "You hungry?"
Tyler's stomach churned. "Not really."
"Nervous?"
"I don't get nervous."
Gabriel smiled that slow, knowing smile. "Then this weekend's gonna be real interesting." He walked to the kitchen and pulled two bottles of water from the fridge. "Let's go over the rules."
Tyler followed him, dropping his duffel by the couch. "Rules?"
"You agreed to a month of submission. That means you follow my instructions. Here, on the field, everywhere. For this weekend, that means you don't touch yourself without my permission. You don't come without my permission. You don't make any decisions about your body without checking with me first."
"That's bullshit."
"That's the deal." Gabriel's voice stayed level. "You can leave. The door's not locked. But if you stay, you follow the rules."
Tyler's jaw clenched. He thought about the season. About the bet. About the way Gabriel's hands had felt on his skin, firm and sure and nothing like the rough fumbling of locker room hookups. He thought about the shame and the pleasure tangled together in his chest like a knot he couldn't undo.
He stayed.
"Good." Gabriel handed him a water. "First rule: you call me sir when we're in private. Say it."
The word stuck in Tyler's throat. "Sir."
"Again. Like you mean it."
"Sir." It came out rougher this time, lower.
Gabriel's eyes darkened with approval. "That's a start. Come on. We've got work to do."
He led Tyler to a spare bedroom that had been converted into a workout space. Mats covered the floor. Weights lined the walls. A heavy bag hung from the ceiling. But what caught Tyler's attention was the bed in the corner. Low platform. Dark sheets. Silk scarves draped across the headboard.
His heart hammered.
"Strip," Gabriel said.
"What?"
"You heard me. Clothes off. We're starting with a massage, then we move into training."
Tyler's hands went to the hem of his shirt. He hesitated. This was different from the shower. That had been heat of the moment, adrenaline and competition. This was deliberate. Planned. He was choosing this.
He pulled his shirt over his head.
Gabriel watched him with that patient, predatory stillness. Tyler dropped his shorts. His boxers. He stood naked in the middle of the room, every muscle tight, his skin flushed with a mix of defiance and something he refused to name.
"On the bed. Face down."
Tyler obeyed. The sheets were cool against his chest. He heard Gabriel move around the room, heard the click of a bottle opening, and then warm hands were on his shoulders, pressing into the knots that lived there permanently.
"You carry a lot of tension," Gabriel said, his voice low and close.
"I play football."
"You carry more than that." Gabriel's thumbs worked into Tyler's trapezius, and his breath caught. The pressure was perfect, deep and steady, working out kinks he'd had for years. "You carry fear. Shame. All that shit you won't let yourself feel."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Gabriel's hands slid lower, down Tyler's spine. "You're a bad liar, Brooks."
Tyler's eyes closed. The massage stripped away his defenses one slow stroke at a time. Gabriel worked his back, his shoulders, his arms, his glutes. By the time he finished, Tyler was a puddle of relaxed muscle and confused emotions.
"Roll over."
He did. His cock was half hard, and he couldn't hide it. Gabriel's gaze dropped to it, then returned to Tyler's face.
"That's normal. Don't be embarrassed."
"I'm not embarrassed."
"Good." Gabriel picked up one of the silk scarves from the headboard. "Because we're gonna try something new."
Tyler's breath stopped. "What's that?"
"I'm gonna tie your hands to the headboard. Just your hands. Nothing scary. But I need you to trust me."
"I don't do restraints."
"You don't know what you do yet." Gabriel held his gaze. "You're learning. I'm teaching. That's how this works."
Tyler's pulse pounded in his throat. Every instinct screamed at him to bolt, to grab his clothes and get out. But there was something in Gabriel's eyes that held him. Something steady and patient and absolutely certain.
He raised his arms above his head.
Gabriel wrapped the silk around his wrists, looping it through the headboard slats. The fabric was soft against his skin. Not tight enough to hurt, but firm enough to hold. Tyler tugged experimentally. The knot held.
"Good," Gabriel said. "Now you stay right there while I take care of you."
He settled between Tyler's spread legs, and Tyler's cock jumped. Gabriel's hands ran up his thighs, slow and deliberate, tracing the lines of his muscles. The touch was electric, sending sparks across his skin.
"You're beautiful like this," Gabriel murmured. "All that power, held still. Waiting."
Tyler's throat tightened. "I'm not beautiful."
"You are. You just don't know it yet."
Gabriel's mouth descended on Tyler's inner thigh, and Tyler gasped. The kiss was soft, almost reverent. Then Gabriel's tongue traced a line up toward his groin, and Tyler's hips bucked.
"Easy." Gabriel's hand pressed his hip down. "You don't move unless I say so."
"That's not gonna happen."
"It will."
Gabriel's mouth closed around the head of Tyler's cock, and Tyler's world narrowed to that single point of contact. The heat. The wetness. The way Gabriel's tongue swirled around the sensitive ridge. It was nothing like the quick, desperate blowjobs Tyler had gotten from women in dark corners. This was deliberate. Worshipful. Gabriel took him deep, slow, savoring every inch.
The wet heat of Gabriel's mouth enveloped him inch by inch. Tyler's abs clenched as that tongue dragged along the underside of his shaft, finding the sensitive vein and tracing it with maddening precision. Gabriel's lips sealed tight around him, creating suction that made Tyler's vision blur. His thighs trembled. The silk binding his wrists became the only thing keeping him grounded as Gabriel began to move.
Slow. Torturously slow. Gabriel's head bobbed down, taking Tyler to the root, his throat relaxing around the head in a way that made Tyler's spine arch off the bed. Then he pulled back, letting Tyler's cock slip from between his lips with a wet pop, only to descend again. The rhythm was relentless and patient, each stroke pulling sounds from Tyler's chest that he'd never heard himself make.
"Fuck," Tyler breathed. His fingers twisted in the silk, knuckles white. "Gabriel."
"Sir," Gabriel corrected, his breath hot against the slick head of Tyler's cock.
"Sir. God. Please."
Gabriel's hands slid beneath Tyler, gripping his ass and lifting his hips for a better angle. The new position let him take Tyler even deeper, and Tyler felt the head of his cock push against the back of Gabriel's throat. Gabriel swallowed around him, muscles rippling, and Tyler's brain short circuited. The pleasure built, wave after wave, pushing him toward the edge. He was close. So close. His hips started to move, chasing the release, but Gabriel's free hand pinned him down.
"Stay still."
"I can't. I'm gonna come. Please, let me come."
"Not yet."
Gabriel pulled off just before Tyler tipped over. The denial was a physical ache, a sharp drop from that peak. Tyler groaned, his whole body trembling. His cock stood rigid and flushed, twitching in the cool air, desperate for the release that had been stolen from him.
"That's one," Gabriel said. "We've got a long weekend ahead."
He let Tyler calm down, his fingers tracing idle patterns on his thighs, his stomach, everywhere except where Tyler needed to be touched. The ache subsided slowly, leaving Tyler hollow and wanting.
Then Gabriel's mouth was back on him.
This time, Gabriel started at the base, his tongue flat and broad, licking upward like he was savoring an ice cream on a summer day. Tyler's hips jerked, but Gabriel's hand held him firm. That tongue traced every ridge, every vein, mapping Tyler's cock with the same attention he gave to studying game footage. When he reached the head, he swirled his tongue around it, dipping into the slit, tasting the precum that had gathered there.
"You taste good," Gabriel murmured against his skin. "I've been thinking about this since the shower."
Tyler's breath caught. "You're trying to kill me."
"I'm trying to teach you." Gabriel took him in his mouth again, and this time he used his hand in tandem, stroking the base while his mouth worked the upper half. The dual sensation was overwhelming, wet heat and firm grip and that tongue doing things Tyler didn't know tongues could do.
The pressure built again, coiling in his lower belly, tightening his balls. Tyler's legs shook. He could feel it coming, the wave gathering force, ready to crash.
Gabriel pulled off again.
"No. Fuck. Please."
"That's two."
Tyler's eyes burned. The frustration was exquisite, a knife's edge between pleasure and pain. His cock ached, throbbing with need, and Gabriel just watched him with those dark, patient eyes.
"Breathe," Gabriel said. "In through your nose. Out through your mouth."
Tyler obeyed, his chest heaving. The breaths helped, grounding him in his body, reminding him that he was still here, still whole, still Gabriel's.
The thought should have terrified him. It didn't.
Gabriel's mouth returned, and this time he added something new. His fingers slid lower, past Tyler's balls, tracing the sensitive skin behind them. Tyler tensed, but Gabriel's other hand stroked his thigh in a soothing motion.
"Relax. I'm not gonna hurt you. Just feel."
Those fingers massaged the perineum, pressing in a rhythm that matched the bobbing of Gabriel's head. The sensation was new, different, sending jolts of pleasure through Tyler's body that he'd never experienced before. His back arched, his muscles strained against the silk, and a moan tore from his throat that was almost a sob.
"You like that," Gabriel observed, pulling back just enough to speak. "There's more. So much more."
"I can't. I can't take more."
"You can. You will."
He did it again. And again. Each time he brought Tyler to the brink, held him there with tongue and lips and fingers, then backed off at the last second. The cycle repeated until Tyler lost count. His world became a blur of pleasure and denial, his mind dissolving into raw sensation. Every nerve ending was on fire, every muscle locked and trembling.
By the fifth time, tears leaked from the corners of his eyes. He was shaking, his muscles locked, his breath coming in ragged gasps. The silk around his wrists was damp with sweat. His cock was so hard it hurt, flushed deep red and leaking steadily, the skin stretched tight and sensitive.
"Please," he whispered. "Sir. Please let me come."
Gabriel's face appeared above him, dark eyes soft with something that looked like affection. "You want it that bad?"
"Yes. God, yes. I can't take any more."
"You can. You're stronger than you know." Gabriel's thumb traced Tyler's cheekbone, catching a tear. "But I'm gonna give you what you need. Watch."
He took Tyler's cock in his mouth one last time, and this time he didn't stop. He went deep, his throat working around the head, swallowing rhythmically. His hand wrapped around the base, stroking in time with his mouth, while his other hand continued that maddening massage behind Tyler's balls.
The orgasm started at the base of Tyler's spine and radiated outward. His whole body seized, every muscle contracting at once, his back arching off the bed. The first pulse of come shot into Gabriel's throat, and Gabriel took it, swallowing around him, his throat milking Tyler's cock. Tyler cried out, half sob, half scream, the sound tearing from his chest without his permission. Wave after wave crashed through him, each one accompanied by another pulse of release, Gabriel's mouth working him through every spasm.
It felt endless. It felt like dying and being born at the same time. Tyler's vision went white at the edges, his body shaking so hard the bed frame creaked. He couldn't breathe, couldn't think, couldn't do anything but feel.
When it finally ended, Tyler was a wreck. His chest heaved, his muscles twitched with aftershocks, and his wrists hung limp in the silk. Gabriel swallowed the last of his release, then pressed a gentle kiss to the head of his softening cock before crawling up to lie beside him.
He untied the silk, rubbing Tyler's wrists where the fabric had left faint red marks. "You did good," he said. "Really good."
Tyler couldn't speak. He lay there, spent and vulnerable, while Gabriel's hands moved over him in soothing strokes. The silence stretched, filled only with his slowing breaths.
"What's happening to me?" Tyler's voice was barely a whisper.
Gabriel's hand stilled on his chest. "What do you mean?"
"I don't. I've never wanted this. Never wanted a guy. But you touch me and I can't think. I can't fight it. I don't know if I even want to fight it anymore."
"That's the question, isn't it?" Gabriel's voice was gentle. "What do you actually want?"
Tyler stared at the ceiling. The answer sat in his chest, heavy and terrifying. He wanted this. He wanted Gabriel's hands and his voice and his control. He wanted to surrender and be held and told he was good.
He wanted to be seen.
"I don't know," he lied.
Gabriel didn't call him on it. He just pulled Tyler closer, letting him rest against his chest. "You've got time. We've got the whole weekend."
Tyler closed his eyes. He could feel Gabriel's heartbeat under his cheek, steady and strong. For the first time in years, he let himself be held.
And he didn't run.
The weekend stretched ahead, full of more tests and more denials and more of this terrifying intimacy. Tyler should have been dreading it. But as he lay there, warm and spent and confused, he felt something else entirely.
He felt hope.
And that scared him more than anything.
Field and Fire
The team plane touched down in Seattle around midnight. Tyler stared out the window at the city lights blurring past, his reflection ghosting over the glass. He could feel Gabriel two rows back, could sense those warm brown eyes on the back of his neck like a physical touch.
Three days on the road. Three nights in a hotel with thin walls and teammates in adjacent rooms.
Jake dropped into the seat beside him as they taxied. "You good, Brooks? You've been quiet the whole flight."
"Just focused." Tyler kept his voice flat. "Big game tomorrow."
"It's always big game with you." Jake shrugged. "Hey, you and Soto been getting along? I noticed you two spending a lot of time together."
Tyler's jaw tightened. "Training. The wager. You know how it is."
"Right. The wager." Jake's tone carried something knowing. "Seems like more than training to me."
Before Tyler could snap back, the plane stopped and seatbelt signs clicked off. He stood quickly, grabbing his bag, needing space from Jake's probing eyes.
The hotel was standard team accommodations. Tyler checked his room key. Fifth floor, room 512. He caught Gabriel's gaze across the lobby, saw the almost imperceptible nod. Sixth floor, room 612.
His heart hammered as he took the elevator up alone.
An hour later, after room checks and a team meeting, Tyler found himself in the stairwell between floors. The concrete walls echoed his footsteps. He climbed to the sixth floor, walked down the carpeted hallway, and knocked twice on 612.
The door opened immediately. Gabriel stood there in sweatpants and a fitted t-shirt, his dark hair slightly damp from a shower. He pulled Tyler inside without a word.
The room was standard: two queen beds, a desk, a window overlooking the city. Gabriel had pushed the beds together, creating one large surface covered in dark sheets.
"Cozy," Tyler muttered, dropping his bag.
"Safe." Gabriel locked the door, clicked the chain into place. "No one knows you're here."
"Jake's suspicious."
"Jake's always suspicious. He doesn't know anything." Gabriel stepped closer, hands settling on Tyler's hips. "But you're shaking. What's wrong?"
Tyler pressed his palms flat against Gabriel's chest, feeling the steady heartbeat beneath. "I'm not... I've never..."
"I know." Gabriel's voice dropped, warm and sure. "That's why we're taking this slow. Tonight's about you, Tyler. About trust."
"I trust you." The words came out before Tyler could stop them. And he realized they were true. This man who had broken through every wall he'd built, who had seen him beg and broken and still looked at him with something like reverence.
Gabriel's thumb traced Tyler's jawline. "Then let me take care of you."
The kiss started soft. Gabriel's lips moved against Tyler's with deliberate patience, tasting, exploring. Tyler melted into it, hands fisting in Gabriel's shirt. The kiss deepened, tongues sliding together, and Tyler felt his knees go weak. Gabriel's mouth was hot and insistent, his teeth grazing Tyler's lower lip before soothing the sting with his tongue. Tyler opened for him, hungry, desperate for more of that taste.
Gabriel walked him backward toward the beds. Tyler's legs hit the edge and he fell, pulling Gabriel down on top of him. The weight was grounding, reassuring. Their bodies pressed together, and Tyler could feel the hard length of Gabriel through the thin fabric of his sweatpants, could feel his own arousal straining against his jeans.
"Tell me what you want," Gabriel murmured against his throat, lips brushing the sensitive skin there.
"I want..." Tyler's voice cracked. "I want to feel you. All of you."
Gabriel pulled back, eyes searching Tyler's face. "That's a big step."
"I know."
"Have you ever been with anyone like this?"
"No." The admission burned. "I never even thought about it. Before you."
Gabriel's expression softened. "Then we go slow. You tell me if anything's too much. You use your words."
"Yes."
Clothes came off piece by piece. Gabriel was methodical, kissing each inch of skin as it was revealed. Tyler's shirt first, Gabriel's fingers trailing up his ribs, his mouth following the path of his hands. He lingered on Tyler's collarbone, then lower, his tongue tracing the line of Tyler's sternum. Tyler arched into the touch, a gasp escaping him.
Then Gabriel's hands moved to Tyler's belt, undoing it slowly, deliberately. He slid Tyler's jeans down, palms skimming his thighs. Tyler lay back, watching the ceiling, feeling exposed and raw and strangely free.
When they were both naked, Gabriel paused to look at him. Really look. His eyes traveled down Tyler's body with an appreciation that made Tyler's skin heat. "You're beautiful," Gabriel said, and the words landed somewhere deep in Tyler's chest.
Gabriel reached for the bedside table. He pulled out a bottle of lube and a condom, setting them within easy reach.
"I'm going to prepare you," Gabriel said. "It might be uncomfortable at first. But I'll be gentle."
Tyler nodded, throat tight.
Gabriel's fingers were slick and warm as they traced down Tyler's stomach, between his legs. Tyler flinched at the first touch, muscles clenching.
"Breathe," Gabriel whispered. "Just breathe."
The first finger pressed inside. Tyler gasped, hands gripping the sheets. It felt strange, invasive, but Gabriel's other hand stroked his chest, his hip, grounding him. Gabriel's mouth found Tyler's nipple, tongue swirling, and the dual sensation sent a jolt of pleasure through him that made the discomfort easier to bear.
"Good," Gabriel praised. "You're doing so good."
Slowly, carefully, Gabriel worked him open. One finger became two, the stretch building, and Tyler's breathing grew ragged. Gabriel curled his fingers, searching, and when he found that spot inside Tyler, Tyler's back bowed off the bed.
"Fuck," Tyler choked out. "What was that?"
Gabriel's smile was wicked. "That's what I was looking for."
He kept hitting that spot, each press of his fingers sending sparks through Tyler's body. Three fingers now, and Tyler was pushing back against them, needing more, wanting to be filled completely.
"Please," he heard himself say. "Please, Gabe. I need you."
Gabriel withdrew his fingers, and Tyler whimpered at the loss. But then Gabriel was rolling on the condom, slicking himself, positioning between Tyler's legs. The head of his cock pressed against Tyler's entrance, slick and ready.
"Look at me," Gabriel commanded.
Tyler lifted his gaze. Gabriel's eyes were dark, intense, filled with something that looked like love.
"This is going to change everything," Gabriel said. "Are you ready?"
"Yes."
Gabriel pushed in. Tyler cried out, a sound torn from somewhere deep. The stretch was overwhelming, burning, but Gabriel held still, letting him adjust. His hands stroked Tyler's thighs, soothing, and his mouth pressed gentle kisses to Tyler's chest.
"Breathe," Gabriel repeated. "Take your time."
Tyler focused on breathing, on the weight of Gabriel above him, the warmth of his body. The pain began to fade, replaced by a fullness he'd never imagined. He could feel Gabriel inside him, could feel every inch, and it was overwhelming and perfect.
"Move," he gasped. "Please move."
Gabriel started to thrust. Slow at first, shallow, building a rhythm. Each movement sent sparks through Tyler's body. He wrapped his legs around Gabriel's waist, pulling him deeper, and Gabriel groaned at the change in angle.
"Fuck," Tyler moaned. "Fuck, Gabe."
"You feel incredible." Gabriel's voice was strained. "So tight. So perfect."
The pace increased. Gabriel's hips snapped against Tyler's, skin slapping skin. Tyler lost himself in the sensation, in the feeling of being filled, claimed, owned. Gabriel leaned down, capturing Tyler's mouth in a bruising kiss, swallowing his moans.
"Touch yourself," Gabriel said against his lips. "I want to feel you come."
Tyler reached down, wrapping his hand around his own cock, stroking in time with Gabriel's thrusts. The pleasure built, coiling tight in his belly, and he could feel Gabriel hitting that spot inside him with every stroke.
"I'm close," Gabriel warned, his rhythm faltering. "Where do you want me?"
"Inside. Please. I want to feel you."
Gabriel's thrusts became erratic. He buried himself deep, groaning as he came, and Tyler felt the warmth spread through him. The sensation pushed him over the edge. He came hard, his release splashing across his stomach and chest, his body clenching around Gabriel as the orgasm ripped through him.
They lay there, tangled together, breathing hard. Gabriel pulled out gently, collapsing beside Tyler, pulling him close. His hand traced lazy patterns on Tyler's sweat-slicked skin.
After a long moment, Gabriel spoke. "My first time was in college. With my roommate."
Tyler turned his head, listening.
"He was older, more experienced. He taught me everything." Gabriel's voice was distant, remembering. "But when people found out, he denied everything. Called me a faggot, told everyone I'd come on to him."
"Gabe..."
"I spent the rest of that year alone. Thought I'd never trust anyone again." Gabriel's arms tightened around Tyler. "Then I met you, and something shifted. You were so angry, so scared. I saw myself in you."
"I'm not scared."
"You're terrified." Gabriel's laugh was soft. "But you're also brave. Braver than you know."
Tyler pressed his face into Gabriel's shoulder. "What happens after this? After the wager ends?"
"That depends on you."
"What if I don't want it to end?"
Gabriel's hand stroked through Tyler's hair. "Then it doesn't have to."
They lay in the dark, the city lights painting patterns on the ceiling. Tyler felt different, changed. He had given something tonight, something he could never take back.
And he didn't want to.
"We should sleep," Gabriel murmured. "Game tomorrow."
"I know."
Tyler closed his eyes, feeling Gabriel's heartbeat against his back. For the first time in years, he felt safe. He felt home.
He fell asleep to the sound of rain against the window, Gabriel's arms wrapped around him, holding him together.
Public Pressure
The locker room echoed with the clatter of pads and the low hum of post-practice chatter. Tyler sat on the bench, unlacing his cleats with deliberate slowness, trying to ignore the weight of Jake's gaze from two lockers down.
"Brooks, you and Soto are getting pretty tight lately." Jake's voice carried that teasing edge, the one that meant he was poking for a reaction.
Tyler kept his eyes on his shoes. "He's still training me. Part of the bet."
"The bet that ended weeks ago." Jake stepped closer, towel slung over his shoulder. "You know, most guys would've bailed on that kind of arrangement the second they could. But you two? You're practically joined at the hip."
Tyler's stomach clenched. He forced a laugh, rough and dismissive. "He's a good trainer. I'm getting results."
"Sure you are." Jake's grin didn't reach his eyes. "I see the way he looks at you, Brooks. And the way you look at him."
"We look at each other like teammates." Tyler stood, grabbing his bag. "Drop it, Peaceman."
"Hey, I'm not judging." Jake held up his hands. "Just saying. People notice things. Coach notices things."
The words landed like a punch to the gut. Tyler walked away before Jake could say anything else, his heart hammering against his ribs. People noticed. Coach noticed. The walls were closing in, and he had no idea how to stop it.
He found Gabriel in the equipment room, sorting through a bin of practice jerseys. The sight of him, broad shoulders and steady hands, sent a wave of conflicting emotions through Tyler. Want. Fear. Need. All of it tangled together until he couldn't tell where one ended and the other began.
"Jake's getting suspicious," Tyler said, closing the door behind him.
Gabriel looked up, his expression calm but his gaze sharp. "What did he say?"
"Enough. He's not stupid, Gabe. He knows something's going on."
"And what is going on?" Gabriel set down the jersey, crossing his arms. "What would he see if he looked close enough?"
Tyler's throat went dry. The question hung in the air, heavy and dangerous. He could lie. He could deflect. But Gabriel's attention held him fixed, patient, waiting for the truth.
"I don't know," Tyler whispered. "I don't know what this is anymore."
Gabriel crossed the room in three long strides, his hand coming up to cup Tyler's jaw. "Then let me show you."
The kiss was urgent, desperate, tasting of salt and want. Tyler melted into it, his hands fisting in Gabriel's practice shirt, pulling him closer. This was reckless. Stupid. Anyone could walk in. But the fear only made it hotter, sharper, cutting through the noise of the day.
Gabriel pushed him back against the shelves, helmets clattering around them. "You need to be quiet," he murmured against Tyler's lips. "Can you do that?"
Tyler nodded, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps.
"Words," Gabriel said, his grip tightening on Tyler's hip. "I need words."
"Yes. I can be quiet."
"Good." Gabriel's mouth moved to Tyler's neck, teeth grazing the sensitive skin just below his ear. A shudder ran through Tyler's body, his fingers digging into Gabriel's shoulders. "You're already shaking. And I've barely touched you."
"You know what you do to me." Tyler's voice came out broken, barely above a whisper.
"I do." Gabriel's tongue traced a line from Tyler's collarbone to his jaw. "And I love it." His hands slid under Tyler's shirt, palms flat against his stomach, feeling the muscles contract under his touch. The jersey material was thin, damp with sweat from practice, and Gabriel pushed it up, exposing Tyler's chest to the cool air of the equipment room.
"Gabe, someone could..." Tyler's protest died as Gabriel's mouth closed over his nipple, tongue circling, teeth grazing. His head fell back against the metal shelf with a soft thud. "Fuck."
"Quiet," Gabriel reminded him, his breath hot against Tyler's skin. He moved to the other nipple, giving it the same attention while his hands worked at Tyler's jeans, unbuttoning them with practiced ease. "You make one sound, and I stop. Understand?"
"I understand." Tyler bit down on his lip, hard enough to taste copper.
Gabriel sank to his knees. The sight of him there, looking up with those dark, intense eyes, made Tyler's cock twitch against the fabric of his boxer briefs. Gabriel hooked his fingers into the waistband and pulled everything down in one smooth motion, letting the cool air wash over Tyler's exposed skin.
"Look at you," Gabriel said, his voice low and rough. "So hard already. Dripping." He ran his thumb along the underside of Tyler's length, collecting the moisture at the tip. "This is what you do to me too. You think you're the only one who wants?"
Tyler couldn't answer. Words had abandoned him the moment Gabriel's mouth hovered close, breath ghosting over his aching flesh. He gripped the shelf behind him, knuckles white, bracing himself.
Gabriel took him in slowly. Inch by inch, his tongue working the sensitive underside as he descended. The wet heat was overwhelming, and Tyler's hips jerked forward instinctively, seeking more. Gabriel's hands pinned them back against the shelf, holding him still, controlling the pace.
The suction was exquisite, a slow, deliberate pressure that built like a tide. Gabriel pulled back, swirling his tongue around the head before taking him deep again, setting a rhythm that was torturous in its patience. Tyler's thighs trembled, his jaw aching from the effort of staying silent.
"You're doing so well," Gabriel murmured, pulling off just long enough to speak. His hand replaced his mouth, stroking slow and firm, keeping Tyler on edge. "But I can feel how badly you need this. How close you are."
"Please," Tyler breathed, the word barely audible.
"Please what?" Gabriel's grip tightened, twisting at the tip, thumb circling the sensitive crown. "Tell me what you need."
"Don't stop. Please don't stop."
Gabriel's mouth returned, taking him deeper this time, throat relaxing around the head. The sensation was blinding, white-hot pleasure radiating from Tyler's core. He could feel his orgasm building, pressure coiling low in his gut, tightening with every stroke of Gabriel's tongue.
"I want to hear you," Gabriel said, pulling back just enough to speak, his hand still working Tyler's slick length. "But you can't. Not here. Not now." His other hand cupped Tyler's balls, rolling them gently, and Tyler nearly sobbed at the sensation. "So you're going to come for me, quietly. Can you do that?"
"Yes. Gabe, I'm close, I'm so close."
"I know." Gabriel took him back into his mouth, hollowing his cheeks, sucking with intent. His tongue pressed flat against the underside, feeling the pulse, feeling Tyler's cock thicken as he approached the edge.
The orgasm crashed through Tyler like a wave breaking. He bit down on his own hand to stifle the cry, teeth sinking into flesh as his body shook. Gabriel worked him through it, swallowing every drop, his throat milking Tyler through each pulse. The world went fuzzy at the edges, sounds muffled, colors blurred.
When Tyler came back to himself, Gabriel was standing, holding him upright against the shelves. Soft kisses pressed to his temple, his cheek, the corner of his mouth. "You did so well," Gabriel murmured. "So good for me. So perfect."
Tyler's legs were rubber. He leaned into Gabriel's strength, letting himself be held, letting himself be cared for. The aftercare was always like this, tender and quiet, a balm for the intensity of what they did. Gabriel's hands smoothed down his sides, grounding touches that brought him back to earth.
"Breathe," Gabriel whispered. "Just breathe."
Tyler obeyed, drawing in shaky breaths, feeling his heartbeat slow. Gabriel's lips brushed his forehead, and something in his chest cracked open, spilling warmth through every vein.
But tonight, something felt different. The silence stretched, and Tyler felt the words rising in his throat, demanding to be said.
"I don't think I can stop this," he admitted, his voice barely a whisper. "I don't want to."
Gabriel's arms tightened around him. "I know."
"I mean it." Tyler pulled back, meeting Gabriel's gaze. "This isn't just the bet anymore. It hasn't been for a while. I... I'm attached, Gabe. I'm attached to you."
The confession hung in the air, raw and vulnerable. Tyler's pulse pounded as he waited for Gabriel's response, terrified of rejection, terrified of acceptance, terrified of everything in between.
Gabriel's hand came up to cup his face, his thumb tracing the line of Tyler's jaw. "I'm attached to you too," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "I didn't expect this. I didn't plan for it. But I can't imagine letting you go."
Relief flooded through Tyler, so intense it made his eyes sting. He pressed his forehead against Gabriel's, breathing him in, grounding himself in the warmth of his body.
"We have to be careful," Gabriel continued. "If people are noticing, we need to be smarter. More discreet."
"I know." Tyler's voice cracked. "But what if it's not enough? What if someone figures it out anyway?"
"Then we deal with it together." Gabriel kissed him, soft and reassuring. "Whatever happens, we face it together."
The promise settled something deep in Tyler's chest, a foundation of trust that he'd never felt before. He nodded, letting himself believe it, letting himself hope.
His phone buzzed in his pocket, shattering the moment. Tyler pulled it out, his blood running cold at the message on the screen.
Coach Klein: Need to see you tomorrow. We need to talk about team dynamics.
Tyler showed Gabriel the screen, his hand trembling. "He knows. He has to know."
Gabriel read the message, his jaw tightening. "Or he's just being cautious. We don't know for sure."
"But what if..."
"Then we'll figure it out." Gabriel's voice was firm, steady, an anchor in the storm. "But not tonight. Tonight, we rest. We recover. And tomorrow, we face whatever comes."
Tyler wanted to argue, to panic, to run. But Gabriel's arms were around him, holding him together, and for a moment, he let himself believe that everything would be okay.
The walk to the parking lot was silent, their footsteps echoing in the empty hallway. Tyler's mind raced with possibilities, each one worse than the last. Public exposure. Career damage. The end of everything he'd worked for.
But when Gabriel's hand found his in the darkness, squeezing once, quick and reassuring, Tyler held on. He held on like a lifeline, because that's what Gabriel had become.
And he wasn't ready to let go.
Breaking Point
The news hit the locker room like a blindside blitz. Tyler caught the whispers first, a low buzz of voices that went silent whenever he walked past. Jake Peaceman snagged his arm near the showers, his easy grin replaced by something tight and uncomfortable.
"Brooks, you heard about Soto?"
Tyler's stomach dropped. "What about him?"
Jake glanced around, then pulled out his phone. The screen showed a gossip site, a grainy photo of Gabriel from years ago, standing next to a man in a bar. The headline read: "Veteran Tight End's Secret Past: Gay Hookup Scandal Threatens Career."
Something cold and sharp lodged itself in Tyler's chest. He read the article quickly, his jaw tightening with each word. It was all speculation, half-truths, and one anonymous source claiming Gabriel had been involved with a male model during his off-season years ago. The timing was deliberate. Playoffs were weeks away.
"It's bullshit," Tyler said, his voice flat.
Jake shrugged. "Maybe. But Coach is pissed. The front office is talking about suspension pending investigation."
Tyler's hands curled into fists. He thought of Gabriel's warm hands, his steady voice, the way he held Tyler through every moment of surrender and trust. This wasn't just an attack on Gabriel's reputation. It was an attack on everything they were building.
He found Gabriel in the equipment room, sitting on a bench with his head in his hands. The sight punched the air out of Tyler's lungs. Gabriel had always been so composed, so unshakable. Seeing him like this made something fierce and protective rise in Tyler's chest.
"Gabe."
Gabriel looked up, his brown eyes shadowed. "You heard."
"Yeah. It's all bullshit. You know that."
"Doesn't matter what I know. It matters what the team thinks. What the league thinks." Gabriel's voice was rough. "I've got a meeting with Coach in an hour. They're talking about benching me."
Tyler sat down next to him, close enough that their shoulders brushed. "They can't do that. You're the best tight end on this team."
"This isn't about performance. It's about image." Gabriel let out a bitter laugh. "I've been careful my whole career. Never let anyone close enough to know. And now some ghost from my past decides to cash in."
Tyler's mind raced. He thought about all the times he'd hidden, all the times he'd let his teammates believe he was straight. He thought about the fear that had driven him for years, the terror of being found out. And then he thought about Gabriel, who had never pressured him to come out, who had waited patiently for Tyler to be ready.
"I'm not letting this happen," Tyler said.
Gabriel turned to look at him. "What are you talking about?"
"I'm talking about standing up for you. Publicly."
"Tyler, no. You can't. Your career—"
"My career doesn't mean shit if I can't look myself in the mirror." Tyler's voice was steady, stronger than he felt. "I've been hiding my whole life, Gabe. Hiding from who I am, hiding from what I want. But I'm done. I'm done letting fear run the show."
Gabriel's hand found his, squeezing hard. "You don't have to do this."
"I know. But I want to."
The press conference was called for that afternoon. Coach Klein stood at the podium, his face a mask of controlled anger. Reporters crowded the room, phones and recorders raised. Tyler stood off to the side, his heart hammering against his ribs.
Coach spoke first, deflecting, saying the team was investigating the allegations. Then he opened the floor for questions.
The first question was aimed at Gabriel, who sat rigid in his chair. "Gabriel, can you confirm or deny the allegations about your past?"
Gabriel opened his mouth, but Tyler stepped forward before he could speak. Every eye in the room turned to him.
"I've got something to say," Tyler said, his voice carrying across the room. "And I want everyone here to hear it."
He paused, feeling the weight of the moment pressing down on him. He thought of his teammates, his coaches, the fans, his family. He thought of all the years he'd spent pretending. And then he thought of Gabriel, of the way his world had cracked open and let in light.
"Gabriel Soto is the best man I know," Tyler said. "And I'm not just talking about football. I'm talking about who he is. He's patient. He's kind. He's honest. And the rumors you're spreading about him? They're nothing but garbage from someone trying to tear down a good man."
A murmur rippled through the crowd. A reporter called out, "Tyler, are you saying you have personal knowledge of Gabriel's private life?"
Tyler met the reporter's eyes. "Yeah. I am."
The room went silent. Tyler could feel Gabriel's gaze on him, a mix of shock and something else, something raw and vulnerable.
"I've been hiding who I am my whole career," Tyler said, his voice rough but steady. "I've laughed at jokes I should have shut down. I've stayed quiet when I should have spoken up. And I'm done. I'm done pretending."
He turned to face the cameras directly. "Gabriel and I are together. Have been for months. And every lie they're telling about him is a lie about me too. So if you want to tear him down, you're going to have to go through me first."
The room erupted. Questions flew from every direction, cameras flashing, voices overlapping. Coach Klein stepped forward, his face unreadable, but Tyler didn't care. He turned and walked away from the podium, his legs shaking, his heart pounding.
Gabriel caught up to him in the hallway, grabbing his arm and pulling him into an empty office. The door clicked shut, and for a moment they just stood there, breathing hard.
"You didn't have to do that," Gabriel said, his voice thick with emotion.
"I know. But I wanted to." Tyler's voice cracked. "I couldn't watch them tear you apart. I couldn't sit there and do nothing."
Gabriel's hands cupped his face, thumbs brushing over his cheekbones. "You just outed yourself. On national television."
"I know."
"Your career—"
"I don't care." Tyler leaned into Gabriel's touch, closing his eyes. "I don't care about any of that. I care about you. I care about us."
Gabriel kissed him, hard and desperate, a kiss that tasted like relief and fear and something deeper, something that felt like home. Tyler clung to him, his hands fisting in Gabriel's shirt, pulling him closer.
"Take me home," Tyler whispered against his lips. "Take me home and don't let go."
The drive to Gabriel's condo was a blur of streetlights and silence. Tyler's hand never left Gabriel's thigh, his thumb tracing slow circles through the fabric of his pants. The air in the car was thick with unspoken words, with the weight of what Tyler had done.
Inside the condo, Gabriel locked the door behind them and turned to face Tyler. The living room was dark, lit only by the city lights streaming through the windows. They stood there, inches apart, the silence stretching between them.
"I was so scared," Tyler said, his voice barely a whisper. "When I saw that article, I thought I was going to lose you. I thought they were going to take you away from me."
Gabriel stepped closer, his hands finding Tyler's waist. "You're not going to lose me. You're not going to lose anything."
"Promise me."
"I promise."
Tyler kissed him again, this time slower, deeper, pouring every ounce of fear and love and desperate need into the press of his lips. Gabriel responded in kind, his hands sliding up Tyler's back, pulling him into the heat of his body.
They stumbled toward the bedroom, shedding clothes as they went. Tyler's shirt hit the floor, then Gabriel's, their skin meeting in a rush of warmth. Tyler pushed Gabriel onto the bed and climbed over him, his body covering Gabriel's like a shield.
"I need you," Tyler said, his voice breaking. "I need you so bad."
Gabriel's hands threaded through Tyler's hair, pulling him down for another kiss. "I'm here. I'm right here."
Tyler's mouth moved down Gabriel's neck, tasting salt and skin, biting gently at the curve of his shoulder. Gabriel groaned, his hips bucking up against Tyler's. The friction was electric, a jolt of heat that made Tyler's vision blur.
"Tell me what you need," Gabriel said, his voice a low rumble.
"I need you inside me. I need to feel you." Tyler's words came out ragged, desperate. "I need to know you're real. That this is real."
Gabriel rolled them over, pinning Tyler to the mattress. His eyes were dark, his body a solid weight above Tyler. "You're sure?"
"I've never been more sure of anything."
Gabriel reached for the lube, his movements deliberate and slow. He coated his fingers, then reached down between Tyler's legs. Tyler spread his thighs, welcoming the touch, his breath hitching as Gabriel's finger circled his entrance.
"Breathe," Gabriel murmured, pressing against him.
Tyler exhaled, and Gabriel pushed in, one finger sliding deep. Tyler gasped, his hands gripping the sheets. It had been weeks since the last time, and the stretch was sharp and sweet, a reminder of what they shared.
Gabriel worked him open slowly, adding a second finger, then a third, each movement drawing a moan from Tyler's lips. The pleasure built, a slow burn that spread through his body, pooling in his belly and making his cock ache.
"I'm ready," Tyler said, his voice thick. "Please, Gabe. I need you."
Gabriel pulled his fingers out and positioned himself between Tyler's thighs. The head of his cock pressed against Tyler's entrance, and Tyler's breath caught in his throat.
"Look at me," Gabriel said.
Tyler met his eyes, and in that moment, everything else fell away. The scandal, the press conference, the fear of what came next. There was only Gabriel, only the heat of his body and the love in his gaze.
Gabriel pushed in, slow and steady, filling Tyler inch by inch. Tyler's mouth fell open, a cry escaping his lips as Gabriel seated himself fully inside him. The sensation was overwhelming, a perfect fullness that made Tyler's toes curl.
"You feel so good," Gabriel groaned, his forehead pressed against Tyler's. "So perfect."
"Move," Tyler begged. "Please move."
Gabriel began to thrust, a slow, deep rhythm that rocked Tyler's body. Each stroke hit that spot inside him, sending sparks of pleasure through his nerves. Tyler wrapped his legs around Gabriel's waist, pulling him deeper, wanting more, needing everything.
"I love you," Tyler said, the words spilling out before he could stop them. "I love you, Gabe. I love you so much."
Gabriel's pace faltered, his eyes going wide. Then he kissed Tyler, hard and deep, his tongue sweeping into Tyler's mouth. "I love you too," he said against Tyler's lips. "I've loved you for months."
The confession broke something open in Tyler. He clung to Gabriel, his nails raking down Gabriel's back, his hips meeting every thrust. The pleasure built, coiling tight in his belly, and he knew he wouldn't last much longer.
"Come for me," Gabriel said, his voice a command wrapped in love. "Come for me, Tyler. Let go."
Tyler's orgasm hit him like a freight train, his body arching off the bed as he spilled between them, his cry swallowed by Gabriel's mouth. Gabriel followed a moment later, his hips stuttering as he came deep inside Tyler, his groan vibrating through Tyler's chest.
They lay there, tangled together, their breathing ragged and uneven. Gabriel pulled out slowly and collapsed beside Tyler, pulling him into his arms. Tyler buried his face in Gabriel's neck, breathing in his scent, letting the warmth of his body chase away the cold fear.
"I'm not going anywhere," Gabriel said, his hand stroking through Tyler's hair. "We're going to get through this. Together."
Tyler nodded, his throat too tight for words. He pressed a kiss to Gabriel's chest, right over his heart, and felt the steady beat beneath his lips.
They had faced the worst, and they had survived. Whatever came next, they would face it together.
Victory Lap
The roar of the crowd was a physical thing. It pressed against Tyler's chest, vibrated in his bones, drowned out every thought except one. We won. The final seconds of the championship game had ticked away with Gabriel cradling the ball in the end zone, and now the field was a chaos of bodies and noise and joy.
Tyler stood in the middle of it all, his helmet off, his breath coming in ragged gasps. Players jumped on him, slapped his back, screamed in his face. He barely registered any of it. His eyes were scanning, searching, until they found Gabriel across the field.
Gabriel was surrounded by a swarm of reporters and teammates. His jersey was untucked, his hair was a mess, and his smile was the most beautiful thing Tyler had ever seen. Their eyes met, and the noise around Tyler faded to a dull hum. Gabriel gave him a small nod. A private acknowledgment in the middle of the public chaos.
Tyler's chest ached with something bigger than victory. It was pride, love, and a bone-deep sense of rightness. This was their moment. Not just the championship. Everything. The fight. The surrender. The trust. It had all led to this.
The locker room was a madhouse. Champagne bottles popped, spraying sticky golden foam over everyone. Jake Peaceman grabbed Tyler in a bear hug, yelling something about the greatest season ever. Coach Klein stood on a bench, his voice cracking as he praised the team. Tyler smiled, laughed, clapped shoulders. But his body was already moving toward the door.
Gabriel was there, leaning against the frame, a bottle of champagne in his hand. He looked relaxed, like he had all the time in the world. "You leaving already?" Gabriel asked, his voice low enough that only Tyler could hear.
"I've got somewhere to be," Tyler said.
Gabriel's smile deepened. "Me too."
They slipped out together, unnoticed in the chaos. The hallway was quiet, the sounds of the celebration muffled by the walls. Tyler's hand found Gabriel's, and they walked in silence to the player's exit. The night air hit Tyler's face, cool and sharp. It smelled like rain and victory.
The drive to Gabriel's condo was short, but every second felt charged. Tyler kept his hand on Gabriel's thigh, feeling the warmth of his skin through the fabric of his jeans. Gabriel drove with one hand, the other resting on top of Tyler's. They didn't speak. They didn't need to.
The condo was dark when they walked in. Gabriel flicked on a single lamp, casting a soft glow over the living room. The city lights glittered through the window, a backdrop of stars and steel. Tyler stood in the middle of the room, suddenly aware of how much his body was shaking. Not from cold. From everything.
Gabriel turned to face him. "You okay?"
Tyler nodded. "Better than okay."
He stepped forward, closing the distance between them. He didn't wait for a command. He didn't wait for anything. He dropped to his knees.
Gabriel's breath caught. "Tyler."
"I want to celebrate you," Tyler said, his voice rough. "I want to worship you. Please."
Gabriel's hand came to rest on Tyler's head, his fingers threading through his hair. "You don't have to ask," he said softly. "You're already mine."
The words sent a shiver down Tyler's spine. He reached up and unbuttoned Gabriel's shirt, one button at a time. He pressed his lips to Gabriel's chest, kissing the warm skin, tasting the salt of sweat and victory. He moved lower, kissing Gabriel's stomach, his hips, the waistband of his jeans.
Gabriel let him. He stood still, his hands gentle on Tyler's shoulders, his breathing steady. Tyler looked up at him, and the love in Gabriel's eyes made his heart ache.
"Take it off," Tyler said, his voice barely a whisper.
Gabriel unbuckled his belt, let his jeans fall to the floor. Tyler helped him step out of them, then pressed his lips to Gabriel's thigh. He worked his way up, slow and reverent, kissing the soft skin of his inner thigh, breathing in the musky scent of him. His lips brushed against Gabriel's cock, and he felt it twitch at the contact.
He didn't hesitate. He took Gabriel into his mouth, and the feeling of him, the weight and the warmth and the taste, was like coming home. He moved slowly, savoring every inch. His tongue traced the underside of Gabriel's shaft, swirling around the head before taking him deeper. This wasn't about desperation or need. It was about devotion. It was about giving everything he had to the man who had given him everything in return.
Gabriel's hand tightened in his hair, but not to guide. To hold. "That's it," Gabriel murmured. "Take your time."
Tyler did. He lost himself in the rhythm, in the sounds Gabriel made, in the way his body responded to every touch. He wrapped one hand around the base of Gabriel's cock, stroking in time with his mouth. His other hand gripped Gabriel's hip, anchoring himself. He wanted to memorize this moment, to etch it into his bones. The championship. The love. The surrender.
He pulled back, letting Gabriel's cock slip from his lips, and ran his tongue along the length of him. He kissed the tip, then took him deep again, feeling Gabriel hit the back of his throat. He swallowed around him, and Gabriel groaned, his fingers clenching in Tyler's hair.
"Fuck, Tyler," Gabriel breathed. "Your mouth feels incredible."
Tyler hummed in response, the vibration making Gabriel shudder. He picked up the pace, his head bobbing, his hand working what his mouth couldn't reach. Saliva dripped down his chin, and he didn't care. He wanted Gabriel to feel worshipped. He wanted him to feel like the champion he was.
When Gabriel finally pulled him up, Tyler's lips were swollen, his eyes were wet. He didn't care. He let Gabriel lead him to the bedroom, let him lay him down on the bed, let him cover his body with his own.
"I love you," Tyler said, the words spilling out like a prayer. "I love you so much it hurts."
Gabriel kissed him, slow and deep. "I love you too, Tyler. More than I ever thought I could."
Gabriel's hand moved between them, stroking Tyler, preparing him. Tyler spread his legs, pulling Gabriel closer. "I want to feel you," he said. "I want to feel you inside me forever."
Gabriel reached for the nightstand, pulling out a bottle of lube. He coated his fingers, then pressed one against Tyler's entrance, circling slowly before pushing inside. Tyler gasped at the intrusion, his body clenching and then relaxing. Gabriel worked him open with patience, adding a second finger, then a third, stretching him, preparing him. He curled his fingers, brushing against that spot inside Tyler that made him see stars.
"Please," Tyler whimpered. "I need you. I need you now."
Gabriel withdrew his fingers and positioned himself between Tyler's legs. He pushed in slowly, inch by inch, giving Tyler time to adjust. The stretch was intense, almost too much, but Tyler breathed through it, his hands gripping Gabriel's shoulders. When Gabriel was finally fully seated inside him, Tyler let out a long, shaky breath.
The sensation was overwhelming. It was fullness and heat and love all tangled together. Tyler wrapped his legs around Gabriel's waist, pulling him even deeper.
Gabriel moved, a slow, deep rhythm that rocked Tyler's whole body. Each thrust hit that spot inside him, sending sparks of pleasure racing through his veins. Their eyes stayed locked, and Tyler saw everything in Gabriel's gaze. The patience. The passion. The promise.
"You're mine," Gabriel said, his voice rough with emotion.
"I'm yours," Tyler whispered. "I've always been yours."
The words broke something open inside him. The last walls, the last defenses, the last shreds of the man he used to be. They crumbled away, leaving only this. Only them.
Gabriel picked up the pace, his hips snapping forward, driving into Tyler with a force that made the bed shake. Tyler met him thrust for thrust, his nails digging into Gabriel's back, his moans filling the room. The sound of their bodies coming together was obscene, beautiful, a symphony of flesh and desire.
"Harder," Tyler begged. "I want to feel you for days."
Gabriel obliged, slamming into him with a ferocity that left Tyler gasping. He shifted the angle slightly, and the new position had Tyler seeing stars. His cock was trapped between their bodies, the friction driving him closer and closer to the edge.
"I'm close," Tyler panted. "I'm so close."
"Come for me," Gabriel commanded. "Come for me, Tyler."
Tyler came first, the orgasm ripping through him with a force that left him gasping. His cock pulsed between their bodies, painting their stomachs with thick ropes of cum. His ass clenched around Gabriel, and that was all it took. Gabriel followed moments later, his body shuddering, his face buried in Tyler's neck. Tyler felt the warmth of Gabriel's release filling him, claiming him, and he held on tight, riding out the waves of pleasure with the man he loved.
They lay there, tangled together, breathing in sync. Gabriel's softening cock was still inside Tyler, and neither of them wanted to move. The night was quiet around them, the city a distant murmur beyond the windows.
After a long moment, Gabriel pulled out and rolled onto his side, pulling Tyler with him. He wrapped his arms around him, holding him close. Tyler pressed his face into Gabriel's chest, listening to his heartbeat.
The championship ring was still on Tyler's finger. He had put it on during the worship, and he hadn't taken it off. He lifted his hand, watching the light catch the diamonds. "This is ours," he said.
Gabriel kissed his forehead. "Everything is ours."
Tyler closed his eyes. He thought about the journey. The arrogance. The fight. The first yield. The shame and the pleasure and the fear. And now this. This perfect, peaceful moment.
"I'm never taking this off," Tyler said. "Not the ring. Not you."
Gabriel's arms tightened around him. "You don't have to. You're my victory lap, Tyler. You're everything."
Tyler smiled, a real smile, the kind that came from somewhere deep and true. He had surrendered everything. His pride. His past. His heart. And in return, he had won it all.
The city glittered outside the window, and the championship ring glinted on his finger. Tyler lay in Gabriel's arms, exactly where he was meant to be.
New Playbook
The morning light cut through the bedroom curtains in golden slants, painting stripes across Gabriel's bare chest. Tyler lay still, watching the slow rise and fall of his breathing, the way his lips parted slightly in sleep. The championship ring sat on the nightstand, catching the light, a reminder of what they'd built together on the field.
And off it.
His phone buzzed on the charger. Jake again. Third text this morning.
You coming to breakfast or what?
He typed back: Give me an hour. Got something to talk about.
His thumb hovered over the send button before he pressed it. No taking it back now.
Gabriel stirred beside him, one arm reaching out blindly until his hand found Tyler's hip. "You're thinking too loud," he murmured, voice rough with sleep.
"Always am." Tyler set the phone down and rolled toward him, pressing a kiss to his shoulder. "We need to talk about today."
Those warm brown eyes opened fully, meeting blue. "Yeah?"
"I want to tell Jake. And Coach." His throat tightened. "Not everyone. Not yet. But I can't keep pretending we're just teammates."
A hand slid up to cup his jaw, thumb tracing his cheekbone. "You sure?"
"No." A short, nervous laugh escaped him. "But I'm doing it anyway."
The diner smelled like bacon and coffee, the familiar Sunday morning haunt for the team after away games. Jake was already in a booth, nursing a mug, when Tyler walked in alone.
"Where's your shadow?" Jake asked, smirking. "Figured you two were joined at the hip by now."
Tyler slid into the seat across from him. His hands were sweating. He wiped them on his jeans. "That's actually what I wanted to talk about."
Jake's smirk faded. "You okay, Brooks? You look like you're about to puke."
"I'm fine." He took a breath. Then another. "Look, I'm just gonna say it. Gabe and I are together. Like, together together. Not just teammates."
The words hung in the air between them.
Jake stared. His coffee mug paused halfway to his lips. "You mean..."
"Yeah." Tyler's voice came out steadier than he felt. "I'm with him. I'm... I'm not straight. I don't know what I am, exactly. But I know I love him."
The confession burned on his tongue, raw and terrifying.
Jake set the mug down slowly. For a long moment, he didn't say anything. Then he leaned forward, his voice dropping. "You serious about him?"
"More than anything."
"Then I'm happy for you, man." Jake's face broke into a genuine grin. "I had my suspicions, you know. The way you two look at each other. The way you changed this season. It's like you finally stopped fighting yourself."
Tyler let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. "You're not weirded out?"
"Why would I be?" Jake shrugged. "You're still the same asshole who can't run a proper route. Just now you're an asshole in love."
"Fuck you, Peaceman."
"Love you too, Brooks."
Coach Klein's office smelled like old leather and anxiety. Tyler had been in here plenty of times, for film sessions, for discipline, for the usual coach-player talks. Never for this.
"Close the door," Coach said without looking up from his papers.
He did. Stood in front of the desk, hands clasped behind his back, the way he'd learned in basic training. Waiting.
Coach finally set down his pen and leaned back in his chair. "You wanted to talk?"
"Yes, sir." Tyler's mouth was dry. "There's something I need to tell you. About me and Soto."
The older man's expression didn't change. "Go on."
"We're together. Romantically. I don't know how you'll take that, but I wanted you to hear it from me before the rumors start."
The silence stretched. Tyler could hear his own heartbeat.
Then Coach sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. "Brooks, do you think I'm blind?"
"Sir?"
"I've been coaching for twenty-five years. I've seen more locker room dynamics than you've had hot dinners." Coach fixed him with a steady look. "You think I didn't notice the way you changed after Soto got here? The way you stopped being a hothead and started being a leader?"
Tyler blinked. "I... what?"
"That man's good for you. I don't care what you do in your private time. I care that you show up, play your game, and keep the team unified." Coach's voice hardened. "Can you do that?"
"Yes, sir."
"Then we don't have a problem." He picked up his pen again. "Now get out of my office. You've got film study in an hour."
Tyler stood there, stunned. "That's it?"
"That's it." Coach waved him off. "Close the door on your way out."
Gabriel was waiting in the parking lot, leaning against his truck with his arms crossed. The afternoon sun caught the silver in his hair, and Tyler's chest ached with how much he loved this man.
"How'd it go?" Gabriel asked as Tyler approached.
"Jake's cool. Coach doesn't care." He stopped in front of him, close enough to feel the heat radiating off his body. "I think I'm officially out of people to be afraid of."
Gabriel's hand found his, fingers lacing together. "Told you it'd be fine."
"You were right." Tyler squeezed his hand. "Don't let it go to your head."
"Too late." Gabriel pulled him closer, pressing a kiss to his forehead. "Come on. I've got something to show you."
Gabriel's condo looked different in the evening light. Softer. The city skyline glittered through the floor-to-ceiling windows as Tyler followed him inside.
"Close your eyes," Gabriel said.
"What are we, twelve?"
"Humor me."
Tyler rolled his eyes but obeyed. He felt Gabriel guide him through the living room, past the kitchen, down the hallway. The bedroom door opened.
"Okay. Open."
Tyler's breath caught.
The bed was made with fresh sheets, the ones Gabriel usually reserved for special occasions. Candles lined the dresser, unlit but waiting. And on the nightstand sat two frames: one with a photo of them at the championship game, arms around each other, grins wide and real. The other was empty.
"What's the empty one for?" Tyler asked, voice rough.
"For our future." Gabriel stepped behind him, arms wrapping around his waist. "I've been thinking. About what comes next."
Tyler leaned back into his chest. "Like what?"
"Like maybe buying a house together. Somewhere with a yard. Maybe a dog." Gabriel's lips brushed his ear. "Like maybe forever."
Tyler's heart hammered. "You're talking about settling down."
"I'm talking about building a life with you." Gabriel's hands slid up his chest, slow and deliberate. "If you want that."
Tyler turned in his arms, facing him. "You're really asking me to move in with you?"
"I'm asking you to be my partner. In every way." Gabriel's eyes were soft, vulnerable in a way Tyler rarely saw. "I know it's fast. But when you know, you know."
Tyler kissed him. Hard. Deep. Pouring everything he couldn't say into the press of lips and tongue.
When they broke apart, both breathing hard, Tyler pressed his forehead to Gabriel's. "Yes. Yes, I want that. I want all of it."
Gabriel's smile was like sunrise.
They made love slowly that night. Not the frantic, desperate kind from the early days, not the celebratory passion of the championship. This was different. This was worship.
Gabriel laid Tyler out on the bed, tracing every inch of his skin with his fingertips. Shoulders. Chest. Stomach. Thighs. Each touch a promise.
"You're beautiful," Gabriel murmured against his collarbone.
Tyler shivered. "I'm a mess."
"My mess." Gabriel kissed down his chest, slow and deliberate. "My beautiful mess."
Tyler's hands found Gabriel's hair, threading through the dark waves. "Gabe..."
"I've got you." Gabriel's mouth traced a path lower, over his ribs, his hips. "I'll always have you."
When Gabriel finally took him in his mouth, Tyler gasped, back arching off the bed. But Gabriel's hands held him steady, grounding him, reminding him he was safe.
"Look at me," Gabriel said, pulling back just enough to meet his eyes.
Tyler did. He watched as Gabriel lowered his head again, watched the way his lips stretched around him, the way his eyes never left Tyler's face. There was no shame in this. No hiding. Just two men, completely open, completely vulnerable.
"I love you," Tyler breathed.
Gabriel's response was a hum that vibrated through him, and Tyler's hips bucked. "Close," he warned. "Gabe, I'm close."
Gabriel pulled off, crawling up his body until they were face to face. "Not yet. I want to feel you."
He reached for the lube, slicking his fingers, and Tyler spread his legs without being asked. The first press of Gabriel's fingers made him gasp, but the second made him moan, deep and needy.
"Ready?" Gabriel asked.
Tyler nodded, pulling him down for a kiss. "Make love to me."
Gabriel positioned himself, pressing slowly inside. The stretch was familiar now, a welcome fullness that made Tyler feel complete. Gabriel's forehead dropped to his, their breath mingling as he sank deeper.
"You okay?" Gabriel's voice was strained.
"Perfect." Tyler wrapped his legs around him. "Move."
Gabriel did. Slow, deep strokes that hit exactly right. Tyler's hands roamed his back, his shoulders, his face, memorizing every inch. The candles flickered as the city lights reflected off the windows.
"I love you," Gabriel said, each word punctuated by a thrust. "I love you, Tyler."
"I know." Tyler's voice broke. "I love you too."
The rhythm built, steady and intense, until Tyler was trembling on the edge. "Gabe, please."
"Come for me." Gabriel's hand wrapped around him, stroking in time with his thrusts. "Let go. I've got you."
Tyler shattered, crying out Gabriel's name as pleasure ripped through him. Gabriel followed seconds later, burying his face in Tyler's neck as he came.
They lay tangled together, breathing hard, hearts pounding in sync.
Gabriel pulled out slowly, rolling to his side but keeping Tyler close. "That was..."
"Perfect," Tyler finished. He traced the lines of Gabriel's face, the laugh lines around his eyes, the softness in his smile. "I didn't know it could be like this."
"Like what?"
"Safe." Tyler's voice was barely a whisper. "Loving. Real."
Gabriel pressed a kiss to his forehead. "It's only the beginning."
Tyler curled into him, fitting perfectly against his side. The empty picture frame on the nightstand caught his eye.
"We should fill that tomorrow," he said.
"Yeah?" Gabriel's hand stroked through his hair. "Got any ideas?"
"Maybe something from our first vacation together." Tyler smiled against his chest. "Somewhere warm. Just us."
"I like that." Gabriel's voice was drowsy, content. "I like the sound of us."
Tyler closed his eyes, listening to Gabriel's heartbeat. The championship ring glittered on the nightstand. The city hummed outside. And for the first time in his life, Tyler Brooks felt completely, utterly home.
"Forever?" he murmured.
"Forever," Gabriel promised.
And Tyler believed him.
