After-Class Arrangements

Dr. Karissa Croft stood at the front of the lecture hall with her arms crossed beneath her breasts, the crisp white blouse she wore stretching just enough to hint at the disciplined body beneath. Her dark hair was swept into its usual sleek chignon, not a strand out of place. From this vantage she could see every student, yet her gaze kept returning to the third row, seat six. Dylan Haramin.

He was trying so hard to look attentive. His slim fingers tapped an uneven rhythm against his notebook. Every time her voice sharpened on a point about Victorian power structures in literature, his shoulders twitched. Those expressive brown eyes would flick up to her face, hold for a fraction of a second, then drop again. A flush sat high on his cheekbones. Karissa felt a slow curl of satisfaction low in her belly. She had been watching him all semester. The way he shrank from direct praise yet hungered for it. The way his breathing changed when she issued even the simplest directive to the class.

Today she had chosen a passage from "The Bloody Chamber" that lingered on control and surrender. She read it aloud, letting her voice drop into that particular register she reserved for moments when she wanted to test her audience. Dylan's pen stopped moving. His throat worked visibly. Perfect.

The lecture ended with the usual rustle of laptops closing and bags being zipped. Students streamed past her desk in a wave of chatter and perfume. Karissa remained motionless until the last straggler disappeared through the door. Then she spoke without raising her voice.

"Mr. Haramin. Stay behind, please."

He froze halfway out of his seat. The flush on his face deepened. For a moment she thought he might pretend he hadn't heard her, but his natural obedience won. He lowered himself back down, clutching his notebook like a shield. The door clicked shut, leaving them alone in the suddenly quiet hall.

Karissa allowed herself a small smile as she gathered her notes. She could feel his eyes on her, tracking the sway of her pencil skirt as she moved. Good. Let him look. Let him wonder why his pulse was suddenly hammering.

"I won't keep you long," she said, turning to face him fully. Her green eyes pinned him in place. "Though from the state of your last essay, perhaps I should."

Dylan stood up at once, slinging his bag over one shoulder. His messy brown hair fell across his forehead, and he pushed it back with an anxious hand. "Professor Croft, I... I thought the analysis was solid. I spent weeks on the symbolism section."

She arched one perfectly shaped eyebrow. "You spent weeks dancing around the text instead of submitting to it. There's a difference." She let the words settle between them, watching how his lips parted slightly at the word submit. Oh yes. The seeds were already there, waiting for her to water them.

"My office," she continued smoothly, as if the air between them wasn't suddenly thicker. "Now. I have a task that will help clarify your... shortcomings."

He followed her down the corridor like an eager but uncertain shadow. The click of her heels on the tile was the only sound for several moments. Karissa could practically hear his thoughts spinning. Was he in trouble? Was this about his grade? Or was there something else in the way she had looked at him during the lecture?

Her office door closed behind them with a soft, final sound. The space smelled of old paper, leather bindings, and the faint citrus of her perfume. Tall shelves lined two walls, crammed with volumes in various states of organization. A heavy oak desk dominated the center, its surface immaculate. Karissa set her bag down and turned to face him, leaning back against the desk's edge. The posture pulled her skirt tighter across her hips. She noticed how his gaze flicked down for half a second before he caught himself.

"The books on the lower shelves need sorting," she said. Her tone made it clear this was not a request. "By publication date, then alphabetically by author. I find myself too busy to manage it. You, however, could benefit from the discipline."

Dylan shifted his weight. "I... I can do that. Should I grab a chair or..."

"No chair." She let the silence stretch just long enough for his confusion to show. "On your knees. The lower shelves require precision. I won't have you half-assing this from an awkward crouch."

His eyes widened. That lovely nervous flush returned, spreading down his neck. For a moment he looked like he might protest. Karissa simply watched him, her expression calm and expectant. She could see the exact second his ingrained desire to please overrode his hesitation. His throat bobbed.

"Yes, Professor."

The words came out softer than he probably intended. He set his bag aside and lowered himself to the carpeted floor in front of the nearest shelf. The position put him at roughly the height of her knees. Karissa remained leaning against the desk, arms crossed, studying the way his slim shoulders moved beneath his casual button-down as he reached for the first stack of books.

"Slower," she instructed. "Take each one in both hands. Feel the weight of it. Respect it. Then place it exactly where it belongs. No rushing. No guessing."

Dylan nodded quickly. Too quickly. She clicked her tongue and he immediately slowed his movements, handling a worn copy of "Jane Eyre" as though it were fragile porcelain. The sight of him on his knees, following her commands with such careful attention, sent a warm pulse through her veins. This was only the beginning, but already he responded so beautifully.

"You've been watching me during lectures," she observed, voice low and conversational. She circled behind him slowly, the sharp points of her heels sinking into the carpet. "Don't bother denying it. I see everything that happens in my classroom, Mr. Haramin."

He kept his eyes on the books, but his ears had gone pink. "I just... I find your lectures engaging, Professor Croft. That's all."

"Flattery." She stopped directly behind him. From this angle she could see the rapid rise and fall of his breathing. "Though I suspect there's more to it. The way you sit up straighter when I address you directly. The way your pen stops moving when my voice changes." She leaned down just enough that her words brushed the top of his head. "Tell me. Does it excite you when I give orders?"

The book in his hands trembled slightly. He set it down with exaggerated care, clearly buying time. "I... I'm not sure what you mean."

Karissa smiled, though he couldn't see it. She moved back to her desk and perched on its edge again, crossing her long legs. The pencil skirt rode up just enough to reveal the sheer black stockings beneath. "A lie. But you're new to this, so I'll allow it. For now. Continue sorting. And while you work, you're going to answer me honestly. Understood?"

"Yes, Professor."

The response came faster this time. She watched his profile as he reached for another volume. His jaw was tight, but his hands moved with the deliberate care she had demanded. The first true act of service. Small, yes. But she could already see how it affected him. The slight tremor in his fingers. The way he kept glancing toward her legs before forcing his attention back to the books.

"Good boy," she murmured.

The effect was immediate. Dylan's shoulders stiffened, then seemed to melt slightly. A soft exhale escaped him. Karissa felt a rush of pure satisfaction. There it was. The first crack in his carefully maintained shell of shyness. She had suspected for weeks that beneath his quiet demeanor lived something eager to be shaped. Now she had proof.

"Tell me about your girlfriend," she said suddenly, changing direction to keep him off balance. "Lisa, isn't it? Sweet girl. Always waiting for you after my Tuesday lectures."

He nearly dropped the book he was holding. "She's... she's fine. We're fine. I don't know why you'd ask about her."

"Because I like to know what I'm working with." Karissa uncrossed and recrossed her legs, the soft whisper of nylon audible in the quiet office. "A boy who already belongs to someone else requires more careful handling. Or perhaps it makes things more interesting. What do you think?"

Dylan sat back on his heels, hands resting on his thighs. The position looked natural on him, though he probably didn't realize it yet. "Professor, I don't... I'm not sure what this is about. If this is about my grade, I can rewrite the essay. I can..."

"This isn't about your grade." She let her voice drop into that register again, the one that had made him stop taking notes earlier. "This is about the way you look at me. The way your entire body responds when I tell you to do something. Right now you're on your knees organizing my books because I told you to. And you're hard, aren't you?"

His head snapped up. Those wide, expressive eyes met hers directly for the first time. Shock. Shame. And beneath it, unmistakable arousal. He opened his mouth but no words came out.

Karissa slid off the desk and took two measured steps toward him. She stopped just close enough that the toe of her patent leather pump nearly touched his knee. "Eyes down. Focus on your task. But answer the question."

After a long moment, he lowered his gaze back to the shelf. His voice was barely above a whisper. "Yes."

"Yes what?"

"Yes, Professor. I'm... I'm hard."

The admission seemed to cost him something. His shoulders curved inward slightly, but he didn't try to hide. Didn't try to stand up. He simply reached for the next book with hands that now shook openly. Karissa felt a deep, primal thrill roll through her. This was better than she had hoped. Twenty-one years old. Naturally obedient. Already so responsive to the slightest push of authority.

She returned to her desk and sat behind it this time, giving herself the advantage of height. From there she could watch every micro-expression as he worked. The way his messy hair fell forward. The occasional glance he stole at her legs. The steady, careful movements of his hands as he followed her instructions to the letter.

"This is what will happen," she said after several minutes of silence. "You will come to my office twice a week. Officially, it will be for independent study credit. We'll discuss literature. Your progress. Your shortcomings." She paused, letting her next words land like velvet-wrapped stones. "Unofficially, you will learn to serve. To obey. To put my needs above your own confusion. Do you understand?"

Dylan sat back on his heels again. The shelf in front of him was already noticeably neater. He had done well, despite the distraction. "I have a girlfriend, Professor. And you're... you're my teacher. This sounds like..."

"Like exactly what you need." She steepled her fingers beneath her chin, regarding him with cool green eyes. "I'm not asking you to decide everything today. I'm telling you what will happen. The choice to show up next time is yours. But we both know you'll be here. Because the thought of kneeling for me again already has you throbbing in those cheap jeans."

His breath hitched. The crude word in her elegant mouth seemed to shock him almost as much as it aroused him. Karissa allowed herself a small, predatory smile.

"Finish the shelf," she commanded softly. "Then you may leave. But before you go, you're going to thank me for this opportunity. For noticing you. For giving you a chance to be useful."

The next ten minutes passed in thick silence broken only by the soft sounds of books being placed in their proper order. Dylan worked with absolute concentration now, as if the task itself had become a form of meditation. When he finally rocked back on his heels and looked up at her for permission, Karissa felt something click into place inside her chest. This boy was going to be exquisite once properly trained.

"Stand up."

He rose on slightly unsteady legs. The evidence of his arousal was impossible to miss, though he tried to angle his body away from her view. Sweet. Still clinging to modesty. She would enjoy stripping that from him over the coming weeks.

"Thank you, Professor Croft," he said, voice rough. "For... for the opportunity. For noticing me."

Karissa rose from her chair and approached him slowly. She stopped less than an arm's length away. Close enough that he could smell her perfume. Close enough that he had to tilt his head slightly to meet her eyes. She reached out and adjusted his collar with deliberate fingers, noting how he shivered at the light contact.

"Good boy," she said again, this time letting the praise wrap around him like warm silk. "Next time you'll address me as Mistress when we're alone. But only when we're alone. On campus, I remain Professor Croft. Our secret. Do you think you can manage that level of obedience?"

Dylan swallowed hard. His eyes were wide, pupils blown. "I... I think so. Yes, Professor."

She let the incorrect title slide. For today. "We'll see. Dismissed."

He gathered his bag with clumsy hands and made for the door. Just before he opened it, he paused and looked back at her. The expression on his face was a perfect cocktail of fear, confusion, and desperate want.

Karissa simply smiled. A cool, knowing curve of her lips that promised everything he was afraid to name.

"Wednesday, Mr. Haramin. Four o'clock sharp. Don't make me wait."

The door closed behind him. Karissa returned to her desk and sank into her chair, letting out a long, satisfied breath. She could still see the indentation his knees had left in the carpet. The first mark of many.

She picked up her pen and began making notes for their next session. The reading list would need to be very specific. Nothing too overt at first. Just enough to make him squirm in his seat as he read. Just enough to keep him thinking about her hands, her voice, her commands.

Dr. Karissa Croft leaned back in her chair and allowed herself a moment of pure anticipation. She had found her perfect pet. Now the real training could begin.
