The Request

The door clicked shut behind him and Hayden Decker stood in the middle of Professor Tamsin Reed's office, his bag strap cutting into his shoulder, his palms damp against the leather.

The room smelled like old paper and her perfume. Something floral but sharp. Like she had chosen it the same way she chose her blazers. Precisely. With intention.

She sat behind her desk, not looking up from a stack of papers. Her dark hair was pulled into a bun so tight it drew her features taut. Pale skin. Sharp cheekbones. A black blazer over a cream blouse, the collar high and strict.

He had rehearsed this. Three times in the shower that morning. Once in the car. He had the words lined up like bullet points in his head.

Professor Reed. I wanted to discuss the Morrison Fellowship. I was hoping you might consider writing a letter of recommendation.

Professional. Nothing that would suggest how much this mattered.

She still had not looked at him.

Hayden shifted his weight. The clock on her wall ticked. A heavy second hand moving in slow, deliberate increments.

He cleared his throat.

"Professor Reed."

She looked up.

Her eyes were dark and flat. They moved over him once, from his scuffed shoes to his rumpled sweater to his face, and he felt catalogued. Measured. Found wanting.

"Mr. Decker." She set her pen down. Her voice was calm. Administrative. "Close the door."

It was already closed.

"It's closed," he said.

She looked at the door behind him. Then back at him. "Lock it."

The request landed like a stone in still water. Ripples spreading outward. His hand moved before his brain caught up, reaching back, turning the lock until it clicked.

"Good." She leaned back in her chair. "Now sit."

He sat in the chair across from her. The leather was cold through his jeans. He placed his hands on his knees and realized how that looked and moved them to the armrests.

"The Morrison Fellowship." She said it like she was tasting the words. "You want my recommendation."

"Yes." His voice came out rough. He swallowed. "Yes, Professor Reed. I was hoping you'd consider it. My application is strong. My thesis work aligns with your research on institutional power structures. I thought you might be able to speak to my academic potential."

She let him finish. Let the words hang in the air between them.

Then she said, "I could."

The pause stretched.

"But there would be conditions."

Hayden felt his stomach tighten. Conditions. The word sat wrong. He had expected questions about his work. Maybe a debate about his methodology. Not conditions.

"I'm not sure I understand."

She didn't smile. Her expression didn't shift. She simply watched him with those flat dark eyes and said, "I think you understand perfectly, Mr. Decker. You're asking me to put my name and reputation behind your application. To vouch for you. That carries weight. It should cost something."

He swallowed.

"What kind of conditions?"

She stood. Moved around her desk with slow, deliberate steps. Her heels clicked against the floor. She stopped in front of him, close enough that he could see the fine weave of her blazer, the precise line of her collar.

"Personal assistance," she said. "Private. After hours."

His throat went dry.

"I'm not sure what you mean."

She looked down at him. Her shadow fell across his lap.

"I think you are. But I'll spell it out so there's no confusion. You'll come to my office. You'll do what I tell you. In exchange, I'll write you a letter that will make the committee take notice."

The words didn't process at first. They sat in his brain like stones, heavy and foreign.

"You're asking me to..."

He stopped. Couldn't finish the sentence.

She waited.

"To sleep with you."

A flicker of something crossed her face. Not amusement. Not quite. Interest, maybe. Like he was a specimen that had done something unexpected.

"No, Mr. Decker." She tilted her head. "I'm asking you to serve me. There's a difference."

The word landed between them. Serve.

He should stand up and walk out. He should report her to the department head, file a complaint, let the Morrison Fellowship burn because no letter was worth this.

But he didn't stand.

He thought about what the fellowship would mean. The funding could erase his student loans and cover his mother's medical bills. He could finally afford an apartment without two roommates splitting the rent. His career would be set on a trajectory he couldn't reach otherwise.

He thought about how long he had worked for this.

And he stayed in the chair.

"Why me?" The question came out smaller than he intended. "There are other students. Better ones."

She smiled then. A thin, cold thing.

"You're ambitious, Mr. Decker. Desperate. You won't make trouble. And you have the right look." She let her gaze travel down his body and back up. "Nervous. Compliant. I find that appealing."

His face burned.

"I have a girlfriend."

The lie came out before he could stop it. He didn't have a girlfriend. Hadn't had one in two years. But the words felt like armor.

She didn't react. "That's not my concern. What happens in this office stays in this office. Your personal life is yours to manage. I'm not interested in your relationships. I'm interested in your availability."

He stared at her.

The clock ticked.

"I need time to think about this."

She shook her head. "No. You decide now. You walk out that door and the offer closes. You can apply for the fellowship without my letter. You won't get it. The competition is too strong and your work, while competent, is not exceptional. You know this."

He did know this.

She continued. "Or you stay. You agree. And I'll write you a letter that opens doors. The choice is simple."

Simple.

The word was absurd. Nothing about this was simple.

But she was right about one thing. He had already done the math. Before he walked into this office, before she said a word, he had calculated his chances. Without her letter, they were slim. With it, they were excellent.

He had come here knowing she held his future in her hands.

He just hadn't known the price.

Hayden took a breath. Then another.

"Okay."

The word came out before he could stop it.

Her expression didn't change. She simply nodded, like she had expected nothing less.

"Good." She walked back behind her desk and sat down. Picked up her pen. "Tuesday evenings. Seven. You'll come to my office. The door will be unlocked. You'll lock it behind you and wait for my instructions."

Tuesday.

That was four days away.

"What do I tell people?" His voice sounded strange. Distant. Like it belonged to someone else.

"You tell them nothing." She looked at him over the stack of papers. "You're meeting with me to discuss revisions to your thesis. That's the truth. The nature of those revisions is private."

He nodded. Couldn't find his voice.

"You may go now, Mr. Decker." She had already returned her attention to the papers. "I'll see you Tuesday."

He stood. His legs felt wrong. Unsteady. He walked to the door and unlocked it with fingers that didn't seem to belong to him.

He paused with his hand on the handle.

"Professor Reed."

She looked up.

The words sat in his throat. Heavy. Sharp. He wanted to say something. To push back. To reclaim some piece of himself that he had just handed over.

But he didn't know what to say.

So he just said, "Tuesday."

She nodded. "Tuesday."

He opened the door and walked out into the hallway. The fluorescent lights were too bright. The floor stretched long and empty in both directions. A few students passed at the far end, their voices muffled and distant.

He walked.

His feet carried him down the stairs and across the lobby and out into the cold evening air. The campus was quiet. The sky was going gray. The trees along the path were bare and black against the fading light.

He stopped at a bench and sat down.

His hands were shaking.

He looked at them. Watched them tremble in his lap. He pressed them flat against his thighs to make them stop.

He had just agreed to something he couldn't name.

He thought about Tuesday. Walking back into that office. Locking the door behind him. What would happen next.

His stomach turned.

But underneath the nausea, underneath the shame and the crawling horror at what he had just done, there was something else.

Relief.

Because he hadn't lost the fellowship. Not yet. He had paid a price, yes. A price he didn't fully understand yet. But he was still in the game.

And that meant he still had a chance.

He sat on the bench until the shaking stopped. The sky went dark and the campus lights flickered on. Eventually he could breathe without feeling like his chest was caving in.

Then he stood up and walked home.

Four days.

He had four days to prepare himself for what came next.

He didn't know if that was enough time. Didn't know if any amount of time would be enough.

But he knew he would be there Tuesday evening.

Because he had already said yes.

And there was no taking it back.

Initial Compliance

The walk across campus that evening felt longer than any Hayden Decker had taken before. He'd been dreading this meeting for days, a constant weight pressing against his chest every time he thought about it. Yet beneath that dread simmered something else, something that felt dangerously like anticipation.

The humanities building loomed ahead, its brick facade dark against the evening sky. Most of the windows were unlit, the day's classes long since ended. Only one office on the third floor still glowed amber, and Hayden knew exactly whose it was.

His shoes scraped against the concrete steps as he climbed. The entrance hall echoed with his footsteps, empty and cavernous. The fluorescent lights hummed overhead, casting everything in that sickly institutional glow that made the building feel even more oppressive at night.

He took the stairs slowly, each flight bringing him closer to the conversation he couldn't avoid. Professor Briggs had made that much clear with her last email: If you want to salvage your grade, you'll come to my office tonight at eight. We need to discuss your... situation.

The "situation" was his failing performance in her Advanced Literary Theory seminar. But Hayden suspected it went deeper than that. He'd caught her watching him during lectures, her dark eyes lingering a beat too long. And he'd noticed the way her voice dropped when she spoke to him after class, how she'd stand closer than necessary, the scent of her perfume wrapping around him like a warning.

Third floor. The hallway stretched before him, dim and silent. Only one door showed light beneath it. Room 312.

Hayden stopped outside, his hand hovering over the wood. He could still turn around. He could take the incomplete, maybe salvage the semester another way. But his feet stayed planted, and his heart hammered, and his body betrayed him by leaning slightly toward that strip of golden light.

He knocked.

"Come in."

Professor Helen Briggs sat behind her desk, reading glasses perched on the bridge of her nose, a stack of papers pushed to one side. She wore a charcoal blouse with the top two buttons undone, and her dark hair was pulled back in a loose knot that sent strands falling against her jaw. She looked up, and her lips curved into something that wasn't quite a smile.

"Close the door, Hayden. Lock it."

His hand trembled slightly as he turned the lock. The click echoed in the quiet room.

"Sit down."

He took the chair across from her, his backpack thudding softly against the floor. The office was small, lined with bookshelves crammed with volumes on feminist theory, deconstruction, postmodernism. A single lamp cast warm shadows across the cluttered desk between them.

Helen removed her glasses and set them aside, studying him with those dark, knowing eyes. "You know why you're here."

"My grades," he said. His voice came out rougher than he intended.

"Your grades, yes." She leaned back in her chair, and the movement caused her blouse to pull slightly, revealing the edge of a black bra. "But we both know that's not the whole story."

Hayden swallowed. "What do you mean?"

"I mean you've been distracted. Unfocused." She stood and moved around the desk, perching on its edge just a few feet from him. Her skirt rode up slightly, exposing her knees. "I've watched you, Hayden. You start strong, then something pulls you away. You stare out windows. You fidget. And lately..." She paused, her gaze dropping to his hands, which were gripping the armrests. "Lately you've been looking at me during lectures. Not at the board. Not at your notes. At me."

Heat crept up his neck. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to..."

"I didn't say I minded."

The words hung between them. Hayden's breath caught.

Helen tilted her head, a strand of dark hair falling free. "Here's what I think, Hayden. I think you're intelligent enough to pass my seminar without difficulty. I think something else is occupying your mind, and I think we both know what that something is."

She reached out and traced one finger along the back of his hand. The touch was light, almost accidental, but it sent electricity racing up his arm.

"I can help you," she said softly. "With your focus. With your... situation. But I need something from you in return."

"What?" His voice was barely a whisper.

"Compliance."

She rose from the desk and walked to the door, checking that the lock was secure. Then she dimmed the overhead light until only the desk lamp remained, casting the office in intimate shadow.

"Stand up," she said.

He rose on unsteady legs. She moved toward him, close enough that he could smell her perfume now, something warm and dark with notes of sandalwood and amber. Her hand came to rest on his chest, feeling the rapid beat of his heart.

"You're nervous."

"Yes."

"Good. I want you nervous. I want you present." She began unbuttoning his shirt, her fingers working with unhurried precision. "Tell me to stop and I will. But I don't think you're going to tell me to stop, are you?"

He shook his head. "No."

"No, what?"

"No, I'm not going to tell you to stop."

She smiled then, a real smile, hungry and satisfied. She pushed the shirt from his shoulders, letting it fall to the floor. Her palms flattened against his bare chest, sliding upward, her nails tracing light trails across his skin.

"You have a beautiful body, Hayden. Do you know that?"

"I..." He didn't know what to say.

"You don't. That's part of your problem." Her hands moved down, stopping at his waistband. "You don't know your own worth. You don't know what you do to people. To me."

She unfastened his jeans, her eyes never leaving his. The zipper sounded loud in the silent office. She slid her hand inside, palming him through his boxers, and he let out a shaky breath as she found him already hard.

"See?" she murmured. "Your body knows what it wants, even if your mind won't admit it."

She stroked him slowly through the thin fabric, her grip firm and deliberate. His hips shifted forward, seeking more pressure, and she laughed softly.

"Eager. I like that." She withdrew her hand and stepped back. "But we're going to do this at my pace. Take off your pants."

He kicked off his shoes, shoved the jeans down, stepped out of them. His boxers tented obscenely, and she looked at him with frank appreciation.

"Those too."

He stood naked in her office, the cool air raising goosebumps on his skin. She circled him slowly, her heels clicking against the floor, examining him from every angle. When she came back around to face him, she reached out and wrapped her fingers around his length, stroking from base to tip with a grip that made his knees weak.

"You're going to listen to me now, Hayden. You're going to follow my instructions. And if you're good, I'll make sure you pass this semester with flying colors." She squeezed tighter, and he gasped. "More importantly, I'll make sure you leave this office feeling very, very satisfied. Do we have an agreement?"

"Yes."

"Yes, what?"

"Yes, Professor Briggs."

"Good boy."

She released him and moved to her desk, clearing the papers aside with one sweep of her arm. Then she hopped up onto the surface, crossing her legs, watching him with those dark, commanding eyes.

"Come here. On your knees."

He crossed the small space and sank to his knees before her. From this angle, he could see up her skirt, the black lace of her underwear, the pale flesh of her inner thighs. She uncrossed her legs and spread them slightly, giving him a clearer view.

"I've been thinking about your mouth for weeks," she said. "Wondering what it would feel like. Wondering if you'd be any good at it." She hiked her skirt higher. "Show me."

He leaned forward, pressing his lips to the inside of her thigh. Her skin was warm, soft, and he kissed a trail upward while she tangled her fingers in his hair. When he reached the lace, he hooked his fingers in the waistband and pulled the fabric aside, revealing her. She was already wet, glistening in the lamplight.

"Don't tease," she said, her voice strained. "Not tonight."

He didn't. He pressed his mouth to her, tasting her salt and heat, and she let out a low moan that echoed off the bookshelves. Her grip on his hair tightened, guiding him, showing him the rhythm she wanted. He followed her lead, using his tongue in slow circles, then faster, then slipping it inside her while his thumb worked the swollen bud above.

"Yes," she breathed. "Just like that. Don't stop."

He didn't stop. He could feel her thighs trembling on either side of his head, could hear her breath coming in short, sharp gasps. She was close, and the knowledge made him work harder, sucking gently, flicking his tongue in the pattern she'd shown him until her whole body went rigid.

She came with a cry that she tried to muffle by pressing her hand over her mouth. Her hips bucked against his face, and he held on, riding out her pleasure until she finally pushed him away with a shaky hand.

"Fuck," she said, the word crude and surprising from a professor's mouth. "Fuck, Hayden."

She sat there catching her breath, her skirt bunched around her waist, her hair coming loose from its knot. She looked wrecked, and the sight made him ache with need.

"Stand up," she said finally, her voice hoarse.

He rose, his knees sore from the floor, his erection straining toward her. She looked at it, then at him, and licked her lips.

"I need you inside me. Right now."

She pulled her underwear down and kicked it off, then lay back on the desk, pulling him toward her by the hips. He positioned himself at her entrance, feeling her wetness against his tip, and paused.

"Wait," she said. "Condom. My bag."

He found her bag on the floor, dug through it until he found the foil packet. He rolled it on with trembling hands while she watched, her eyes dark with want.

"Now," she said. "Please."

He pushed into her slowly, savoring the tight heat of her body accepting him inch by inch. She wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him deeper, and they both groaned when he was fully inside her.

"Move," she said. "I need you to move."

He pulled back and thrust forward, finding a rhythm that made the desk creak beneath her. She pulled him down for a kiss, messy and desperate, her tongue sliding against his while he drove into her. Her nails raked down his back, leaving trails of fire.

"Harder," she said against his mouth. "I won't break."

He obeyed, gripping her hips and slamming into her with a force that made the desk scrape against the floor. She moaned, loud enough that someone in the hallway might hear, and he covered her mouth with his hand. She bit his palm, her eyes blazing, and he felt her clench around him.

"I'm going to come again," she gasped. "Don't stop, don't you dare stop."

He didn't stop. He kept the pace brutal and steady, feeling his own climax building at the base of his spine. When she came again, her inner muscles milking him, he let go, spilling into the condom with a groan that he buried in her neck.

They lay there on the desk for a long moment, breathing hard, their bodies still joined. The office was silent except for their ragged breaths.

Finally, Helen pushed herself up on her elbows, looking at him with something softer than he'd seen before.

"Well," she said. "That was... unexpected."

"Good unexpected?"

She laughed, a real laugh that crinkled the corners of her eyes. "Very good unexpected."

He pulled out and tied off the condom, disposing of it in the small trash can beside her desk. She straightened her skirt, retrieved her underwear, and began putting herself back together with a composure that seemed almost impossible given what they'd just done.

"Same time next week," she said, as if scheduling a regular office hours meeting. "We'll discuss your paper revisions then."

He stared at her. "That's it?"

"For now." She picked up her glasses and put them back on, becoming Professor Briggs again. "You're not failing anymore, Hayden. Consider this the first step in your... rehabilitation."

He dressed quickly, his hands still unsteady. When he reached the door, her voice stopped him.

"Hayden?"

He turned.

"You were very good tonight. I expect you to be better next time."

He swallowed hard. "Yes, Professor Briggs."

He walked out into the empty hallway, the cool air hitting his flushed skin. His legs felt weak, his mind hazy. Behind him, the light under her door went dark.

The walk back across campus felt different. The dread was gone, replaced by something warm and complicated. He could still taste her on his lips, still feel her nails on his back, still hear her voice in his ear.

He didn't know what he'd just agreed to. But as he walked beneath the dark trees, the weight that had been pressing on him for weeks had lifted. In its place was something new.

He couldn't wait until next week.

Standing Orders

Hayden stood in his bathroom, razor in hand, staring at his own reflection. The instruction had come through email, brief and clinical, just like everything else from Professor Reed. "Before our next meeting, you will remove all body hair from your chest and abdomen. Come prepared."

He had read it three times, hoping the words would rearrange themselves into something less humiliating. They hadn't.

Now he lathered the soap, the brush scraping against his skin. The first pass of the razor left a clean trail. He worked methodically, watching the dark hair disappear in clumps, revealing pale skin underneath. Each stroke felt like another piece of his dignity washing down the drain.

But he kept going.

The fellowship deadline was six weeks away. The letter was worth this. That was what he told himself. That was what he needed to believe.

When he finished, he ran his hand over his chest. The skin felt foreign, smooth and exposed. He could see the outline of his ribs, the subtle definition of his muscles. It looked younger. Vulnerable.

He dressed carefully, choosing a button-down shirt that would hide the evidence. The fabric felt different against his bare skin, more direct, more intimate. He could feel every seam, every stitch.

The walk to campus was longer than he remembered. Each step carried him closer to her office, to the locked door, to the woman who held his future in her hands. He had spent the past two days replaying the first session in his mind. The taste of her. The way she had spoken to him, like he was a tool she was testing. The way she had dismissed him afterward, already turning to her computer as he pulled himself together.

He had expected to feel degraded. He had not expected to feel so empty.

Now he was going back.

He reached her building and climbed the stairs. The hallway was quiet, late afternoon light slanting through the windows. Her office door was closed. He knocked.

"Come in."

Her voice was the same as always. Composed. Unbothered.

He opened the door and stepped inside. She was at her desk, reading something on her screen. She did not look up immediately. He closed the door behind him and heard the lock click into place.

"Good evening, Professor Reed."

She finally turned to him. Her eyes swept over his body, assessing. He felt the absence of hair like a confession.

"You followed my instructions," she said.

"Yes, ma'am."

"Show me."

He hesitated. Just a fraction of a second. But she noticed.

"Did you misunderstand my request?"

"No, ma'am. I just..."

"You just what, Mr. Decker?"

He unbuttoned his shirt. The fabric parted, revealing his smooth chest and abdomen. He held the shirt open, exposing himself to her gaze. She studied him for a long moment, her expression unreadable.

"Good. You'll find that compliance makes everything easier. Hesitation, on the other hand..."

She stood and walked around the desk. She was wearing a black skirt that fell just below the knee, a cream blouse, her hair in that tight bun. She stopped in front of him.

"Bend over the desk."

He did not understand. But he obeyed. He leaned forward, his palms flat on the polished wood surface. She did not touch him for a long moment. He could feel the air moving in the room, could hear his own breathing.

Then she spoke.

"You hesitated. That requires correction."

He heard a drawer open. He did not turn to look. A moment later, he felt something cold and smooth press against the back of his neck. A ruler. She traced it down his spine, over his shirt, to the small of his back.

"Lower your trousers."

His hands trembled as he reached for his waistband. He pushed his trousers and briefs down to his knees. The air was cool on his exposed skin. He felt completely vulnerable.

The ruler tapped once against his bare ass.

"Count."

The first stroke landed. A sharp, hot line of pain across his right cheek. He gasped.

"One," he managed.

The second stroke landed on his left cheek, symmetrical and precise.

"Two."

The third stroke landed across the middle, connecting them.

"Three."

The fourth was harder. He felt his skin sting, felt the heat spread.

"Four."

The fifth and final stroke landed with a crack that made him grip the edge of the desk.

"Five."

He said the number, his voice shaking.

She set the ruler down. Her hand came to rest on his lower back, warm and possessive.

"Good boy. You took that well."

He stayed bent over, his face hot with shame. His ass throbbed. But beneath the shame, there was something else. Something that felt like relief.

"Stand up."

He obeyed. He pulled his trousers up, fastened them. When he turned to face her, she was already back behind her desk, as if nothing had happened.

"Sit down."

He sat in the chair across from her. The pressure of the seat against his freshly punished skin made him shift uncomfortably.

"This arrangement requires structure," she said. "I will provide that structure. You will follow it."

She pulled out a sheet of paper from her drawer. It was neatly typed, a list of rules and expectations.

"You will attend our sessions twice a week. Tuesdays and Thursdays, six in the evening. You will arrive prepared according to my instructions. You will not knock. You will enter and lock the door behind you. You will stand by the window until I acknowledge you."

She slid the paper across the desk toward him.

"Read it."

He picked it up. His eyes scanned the list.

Arrive clean and prepared. No body hair below the neck. Wear clothes that can be removed quickly. Bring a change of clothes. Do not speak unless spoken to. Do not touch yourself without permission. Accept all discipline without argument. Refer to me as Professor Reed or ma'am. Do not discuss the arrangement with anyone. Complete all academic work on time. Understand that this arrangement continues until I decide otherwise.

He read it twice. The final point caught in his throat.

"Until you decide otherwise?"

"Yes, Mr. Decker. The letter is not a reward. It is a tool. I will use it when and how I see fit. You will continue to earn it with your behavior."

He looked at her. She was watching him, her eyes calm and patient.

"I thought once the letter was submitted..."

"The letter will be submitted. But the arrangement will not end. Do you understand?"

He wanted to argue. He wanted to tell her that this was not what he had agreed to. But he knew, deep down, that this was exactly what he had agreed to. She had never promised an end date. She had only promised a letter.

"Yes, ma'am."

"Good. Now, there is one more thing."

She stood up and walked around the desk again. She stopped in front of him, looking down.

"Kneel."

He slid off the chair and onto his knees. The carpet was soft beneath him. She unbuttoned her blouse, revealing a simple black bra. She unfastened the bra and let it fall.

"You will kiss my breasts. Slowly. Thoroughly. This is your preparation for what comes next."

He leaned forward, his lips brushing her skin. She was warm and she smelled like soap and something darker, something that was just her. He kissed her left breast, then her right. He traced his lips over her chest, feeling her heartbeat under his mouth.

"Use your tongue."

He obeyed. He laved her skin, tasting salt and soap and the faint sweetness of her. She sighed, a sound that was almost surprised.

"You're learning."

He kept going. He kissed and licked and nuzzled her breasts, feeling the weight of them against his face. He was hard, aching, but he did not touch himself. He followed the rules.

After a long while, she stepped back. Her breasts were wet with his saliva, gleaming in the office light.

"Good. That's enough for tonight. Your first regular session is Thursday. Come prepared."

She turned and began buttoning her blouse, dismissing him.

He stood up, his body humming with unspent tension. He walked to the door, unlocked it, and stepped out into the hallway.

The walk home was a blur. His skin still tingled where she had touched him. His ass still throbbed from the ruler. He felt different, changed, like he had been marked in some way that would never wash off.

He looked at his phone. Thursday evening.

He would be there.

He knew he would be there.

And that knowledge felt heavier than any punishment she could give him.

Desk Protocol

The text arrived during his afternoon seminar. A single line from a number he had saved under a blank contact. "My office. After your class ends. Between meetings. Don't be late."

Hayden read the message again and again while the professor droned about post-structuralist theory. His fingers felt cold against the phone screen. The instruction meant he would have to leave early, make some excuse to his classmates about a meeting with his advisor. The lie came easily now. Too easily.

He packed his bag before the seminar ended, slipping out during the final discussion questions. No one looked at him twice. Graduate students left early all the time. They had research to do, papers to write, futures to secure.

The walk across campus felt different now. Every step carried the weight of what he was becoming. Students passed him on the path, laughing about something, and he wondered if they could see it. If the marks of her control showed on his skin like invisible ink waiting for the right light to reveal them.

He reached the humanities building a few minutes early. He stood outside the main entrance, watching the door, letting the late afternoon sun warm his face. A brief moment of normalcy before he stepped back into her world.

He pushed through the doors. The hallway was quiet. Most faculty offices were empty at this hour, professors in meetings or already heading home. But Tamsin's door stood closed, the blinds drawn, a sliver of light showing beneath the frame.

He knocked. Two sharp raps.

"Come in."

Her voice carried through the wood, calm and unhurried. He turned the handle and stepped inside.

Tamsin sat behind her desk, laptop open, reading glasses perched low on her nose. She looked up at him without smiling, her eyes traveling over his rumpled sweater, his slightly disheveled hair, the way he held his bag strap like a lifeline.

"Close the door. Lock it."

He did as she said. The lock clicked into place with a sound that had become familiar. Final.

"I have a meeting soon," she said, glancing at the clock on her wall. "So we have limited time. That's enough if you follow instructions and don't waste them."

Hayden nodded. His mouth felt dry. "Yes, Professor Reed."

"Take off your clothes. Everything except your undershirt. Fold them neatly and place them on the chair." She gestured to the armchair in the corner. "I want access without obstruction."

His hands trembled slightly as he unbuttoned his sweater. He told himself it was the cold air from the vent above the window. But he knew better. The trembling had started the moment he read her text. It was anticipation now, not fear. Or maybe the two had become the same thing.

He folded his sweater and shirt, then his jeans. Placed them on the chair in a neat stack. His shoes went underneath. He stood in the center of her office in his boxers and undershirt, exposed and waiting, the cool air raising goosebumps on his arms.

"Better," she said. "Now come here."

He walked around to her side of the desk. She pushed her chair back slightly, giving herself room, and patted the polished wood surface beside her laptop.

"Up. On your back. Legs toward me."

Hayden hesitated for just a moment. A flicker of the old resistance, the part of him that still believed he could walk out. Tamsin's eyes narrowed.

"I said up. Don't make me repeat myself."

He climbed onto her desk. The wood was cool against his bare thighs, smooth and unyielding. He lay back, the surface hard against his spine, and brought his legs up, feet flat on the desk, knees bent. The position left him completely open. Vulnerable in a way that made his pulse hammer in his throat.

Tamsin stood and removed her blazer. She hung it carefully on the back of her chair, then unbuttoned her pencil skirt and let it fall to the floor. She stepped out of it and kicked it aside, revealing the dark fabric of her stockings and the absence of anything else beneath. She had planned for this. Prepared for this interruption between her professional obligations.

"You're already half hard," she observed, her voice flat and clinical. "That's interesting. You weren't this responsive before."

Hayden felt heat rise to his face. "I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize. It's useful. It means you're learning." She moved closer, standing between his spread legs. "It means your body understands what your mind still struggles to accept."

She reached down and pulled his boxers aside, freeing his erection. The air hit him, cool and shocking, and he gasped. His cock stood rigid against his stomach, the tip already glistening with wetness. She regarded it with the same detached curiosity she might show a research specimen.

"Quiet," she said. "The walls are thin and I have colleagues in the building."

He bit his lip. Nodded.

Tamsin positioned herself at the edge of the desk, her thighs pressing against his. She was so close he could smell her perfume, something floral and sharp, undercut by the warm scent of her skin. She reached down and wrapped her fingers around him, stroking once from base to tip with a grip that made his back arch off the desk.

"Sensitive," she murmured. "Good."

She guided him to her entrance, the tip pressing against slick heat. He could feel how wet she was already, the swollen folds of her sex parting against him, and the sensation made his thighs tremble against the desk's edge.

"I'm going to set a timer," she said, pulling out her phone. "If you make me come before the alarm, I'll consider this session satisfactory. If you don't, we'll have to schedule additional practice."

She set the timer and placed the phone on the desk beside his head. The screen glowed with the countdown.

Then she sank onto him.

Hayden's breath left his lungs in a rush. The sensation was overwhelming, the heat and tightness and the sudden fullness of being inside her. She took him slowly, inch by inch, her body stretching to accommodate him, and he felt every millimeter of the descent. His hands gripped the edges of the desk, knuckles white, as she settled fully against him, her weight pressing his hips into the unyielding wood.

She stayed still for a moment, adjusting, her internal muscles clenching around him in small pulses that made his vision blur. Then she began to move.

She rode him with the same efficiency she brought to everything else. Steady, measured, controlled. Her hips rocked against his, her body taking what it wanted, and all he could do was lie there and take it. Her hands pressed flat against his chest, pinning him to the desk, her fingernails leaving crescent marks through the thin fabric of his undershirt.

"Look at me," she said.

He raised his eyes to hers. Her face was composed, almost bored, but her breathing had quickened. A thin sheen of sweat glistened on her upper lip. Her pupils were dilated, the dark centers swallowing the pale rim of her irises.

"You're tense. You're holding your breath. That's inefficient." She slowed her pace, grinding against him with deliberate pressure, her clit dragging against the base of his cock with each roll of her hips. "Breathe. Feel what's happening to you. Stop fighting it."

Hayden forced himself to inhale. The air tasted like her office, like paper and dust and the faint musk of sex. His body was responding in ways he couldn't control. His hips wanted to buck, to thrust deeper, to chase the pleasure that coiled at the base of his spine. But he held still, letting her set the rhythm, letting her use him.

"Better," she said. She shifted her angle, leaning forward slightly, and the change drove him deeper inside her. He felt the head of his cock press against something soft and ridged, and she inhaled sharply, her composure cracking for just a moment. "There. Right there. Pay attention to where I put you."

She rode that spot with relentless precision, each thrust grinding him against it, and her breath came faster now, her movements less measured. The wet sounds of their joining filled the office, obscene and unmistakable. He could feel her arousal coating him, slicking his shaft, pooling at the base where their bodies met.

"Now tell me what you're feeling."

His voice came out rough, barely a whisper. "Full. I feel full."

"Good. And?"

"Exposed. Like I'm on display."

"You are on display. You're on my desk, in my office, completely at my mercy. Anyone could walk in. The lock is the only thing between you and the rest of the department." She leaned forward, her breasts pressing against his chest through the fabric of her blouse, her mouth close to his ear. "Does that scare you?"

"Yes."

"Does it excite you?"

He didn't answer. Couldn't. Because the truth was there, rising in him like the heat spreading through his body, undeniable and shameful.

She laughed softly, a sound that raised the hair on the back of his neck. "It does. You're harder now than when I started. You're practically trembling with it."

She sat up again, her pace quickening. She was chasing her pleasure now, using his body as a tool to reach her end, and he was helpless beneath her. Her thighs flexed against his hips, her stomach tightening with each descent. He watched her breasts sway beneath her blouse, the fabric straining against buttons he wanted to undo but didn't dare touch without permission.

"Touch me," she said. "Here." She guided his hand to her clit, her fingers pressing his against the swollen nub. "In circles. Don't stop."

He obeyed. His fingers moved in the pattern she had shown him, clumsy at first, then finding the rhythm that made her hips stutter. She was drenched, her slick coating his fingertips, and he could feel his own cock sliding in and out of her beneath his touch. The dual sensation was maddening. Her breath caught. Her grip on his chest tightened.

"Yes," she hissed. "Like that. Don't stop."

He pressed harder, circling faster, and she rewarded him with a moan she quickly stifled by biting her own lip. Her rhythm faltered, became uneven. He felt her clench around him, her body squeezing his cock in rhythmic pulses that made his eyes roll back.

"More," she breathed. "Faster."

He increased the pressure, rubbing in tight, quick circles the way she liked, and her hips bucked against his hand. Her head fell back, her throat exposed, and he watched the flush spread from her chest up her neck. She was close. He could feel it in the way her body tightened, the way her breath came in short, sharp gasps.

"I'm going to come," she said, her voice strained. "Don't you dare stop."

He didn't. He kept circling, kept pressing, kept his fingers exactly where she needed them as she shattered above him. Her body seized, her back arching, and she came with a series of sharp, breathless gasps that she fought to keep silent. Her cunt spasmed around him, clenching and releasing in waves, milking his cock with each pulse of her orgasm.

Hayden felt every contraction, felt the wet heat flooding around him, and the sensation pushed him toward the edge. He was close, so close, his own release building in a wave he couldn't stop. His balls tightened, his thighs shook, and he felt the telltale tingle at the base of his spine that meant he was seconds away.

"Don't you dare," she said, her voice suddenly cold even as her body still trembled with aftershocks. "Don't you dare come without permission."

He bit down on his lip so hard he tasted blood. The pain cut through the pleasure, pulling him back from the brink. He forced himself to think of something else, anything else, the seminar, the walk home, the boring article he had to read for next week. But his cock was still buried inside her, still surrounded by the pulsing heat of her, and the denial was its own kind of agony.

He lay there, trembling, his body screaming for release that didn't come. His erection throbbed against his stomach when she finally lifted herself off him, the cool air hitting his wet, oversensitive skin like a slap.

Tamsin stayed where she was for a long moment, catching her breath. Then she walked to her purse and pulled out a small towel. She cleaned herself with quick, efficient movements, then pulled on her skirt and blazer. She didn't offer him the towel.

Hayden remained on the desk, still hard, still aching, his chest heaving. His cock lay against his stomach, twitching occasionally with residual need, slick with her.

"You did adequately," she said, her voice back to its usual flat tone. "Your technique needs refinement, but your responsiveness is improving. That's encouraging."

She walked to her desk and picked up the phone, stopping the timer. She looked at him, still spread across her workspace, and smiled. It was not a kind smile.

"You may clean up and dress. I have a meeting shortly."

Hayden pushed himself up on shaking arms. He slid off the desk, his legs barely holding him, and grabbed his boxers from the pile of clothes. The fabric was rough against his sensitive skin. He had to tuck his still-rigid cock into the elastic waistband, and the pressure of the cotton against him was almost unbearable.

"One more thing," she said. "I want you to think about what happened today. About how your body responded. About how hard you were, how close you came, how desperate you were to finish."

He stopped, his shirt half on, and looked at her.

"Think about that when you're in your seminar tomorrow. When you're sitting next to your classmates. When you're pretending to be a normal graduate student." She stepped closer, adjusting his collar with a motherly gesture that made his skin crawl. "Because you're not normal anymore, Hayden. You're mine. And the sooner you accept that, the easier this will be."

She patted his cheek and turned back to her laptop.

"You can leave now. I'll text you tomorrow with your next appointment."

Hayden finished dressing in silence. His hands were steady now. The trembling had stopped. He unlocked the door and stepped into the hallway, closing it quietly behind him.

The corridor was empty. The building hummed with the quiet of late afternoon. He walked toward the exit, his steps measured, his face blank.

But inside, something had shifted. The shame was still there, sharp and familiar. But beneath it, buried deep where he didn't want to look, was something else. A flicker of heat. A memory of her body clenching around his. A hunger that had nothing to do with ambition and everything to do with surrender.

He stepped out into the fading sun and walked home, carrying her words like a brand on his skin.

You're mine.

And the worst part, the part he couldn't escape, was that she was right.

Campus Errand

The morning light felt different now. Hayden noticed it as he walked across the quad, his backpack slung over one shoulder, his steps careful and deliberate. The sun seemed too bright, the air too clear. The whole campus felt aware of him somehow. He kept his eyes forward, his jaw tight, his hands shoved deep in his pockets.

He hadn't showered that morning. Tamsin's instructions had been explicit.

"Don't clean yourself. I want you to feel me all day."

So he hadn't. He'd gotten dressed over the evidence of their session, pulling on boxers and jeans over skin that still carried the memory of her touch. The walk from his apartment to campus had been a slow torture of awareness, every step reminding him of what waited beneath his clothes.

Now he had to go to the library. He had to pick up a stack of journals she'd reserved. A simple errand, she'd called it. A favor for her research assistant who was out sick. But nothing about this was simple.

He felt it when he walked. A warm trickle down his inner thigh that made him freeze mid-step, his heart lurching into his throat. He glanced around frantically, but no one was watching. No one could see. The evidence was hidden beneath denim, invisible to the world.

But he knew it was there.

He'd been in her office yesterday evening. The session had been longer than usual, more intense, more deliberate. She'd taken her time with him, drawing out every moment, making sure he understood his place.

It had started the way it always did. She'd locked the door, turned the deadbolt with a soft click that made his pulse jump. Then she'd crossed to him where he stood trembling by her desk, and she'd kissed him. Not gently. Her mouth had been demanding, her tongue pushing past his lips, her hand fisting in his hair to hold him still while she took what she wanted.

"On your knees," she'd whispered against his mouth.

He'd gone down. The carpet was soft beneath him, the musky scent of her arousal already filling the small office. She'd hiked her skirt up around her hips, revealing nothing underneath. Nothing but smooth skin and wetness glistening in the lamplight.

"Show me what you're for," she'd said, pulling his face toward her.

He'd opened his mouth and tasted her. Salt and musk and something that was uniquely Tamsin. She'd gripped his hair tighter, grinding against his tongue, using him. He'd struggled to keep up, to breathe, to give her what she needed. His jaw ached. His knees burned against the carpet. None of it mattered because she was making those sounds above him, those soft gasps that told him he was doing well.

When she came, she'd clamped her thighs around his head and gone silent, her whole body rigid. He'd felt the tremor move through her, felt her release against his mouth, his chin, his lips. Then she'd pushed him away.

But she hadn't been finished with him.

"Bend over the desk."

He'd obeyed, his chest pressing against the cool wood, his cheek turning to rest on a stack of ungraded papers. He'd heard her opening a drawer, the soft sounds of preparation. When he felt her fingers between his cheeks, slick with lubricant, his breath had caught.

"Relax," she'd murmured, her free hand pressing between his shoulder blades. "Let me in."

He'd tried. The first finger had burned, a stretch that made him gasp. But she'd worked him open slowly, patiently, adding a second finger only when he'd stopped clenching. She'd found that spot inside him, the one that made his vision blur, and she'd pressed against it until he was whimpering.

"Please," he'd said, not even sure what he was asking for.

"Please what, Mr. Decker?"

"Please, I need..."

"I know what you need."

Then she'd replaced her fingers with something else. Something thicker. Something that pressed into him inch by inch, filling him completely. She'd strapped it on, he realized. She'd been preparing this.

The thrusts had started slow, almost gentle. But they'd built, harder and faster, until the desk was rocking beneath him and his fingers were scrabbling for purchase on the smooth wood. She'd leaned over his back, her breath hot against his ear.

"You're mine, Mr. Decker. Don't forget that."

As if he could.

When she'd finally finished, she'd pulled out slowly, leaving him empty and aching. He'd stayed bent over the desk, trembling, not trusting his legs to hold him. She'd walked around to face him, her fingers gentle now as she cupped his cheek.

"Good boy. Now stay just like this. Don't clean up. I want you to carry me home."

He'd nodded, not trusting his voice.

Then she'd handed him a slip of paper with instructions written in her precise hand.

Morning errand. Library reserve desk. Pick up my journals. Wear what I tell you. Don't clean up.

He'd stared at the words for a long time, the paper warm from her hand. Then he'd folded it into his pocket and nodded.

"Yes, Professor Reed."

She'd smiled at that. A thin, satisfied curve of her lips. "Good boy."

The memory made his stomach clench now as he approached the library steps. The ghost of her fingers lingered on his skin, the pressure of her body against his, the way she'd whispered in his ear while he was helpless beneath her.

The library doors swung open and he stepped inside, the cool air hitting his face. The scent of old paper and floor wax filled his nostrils, familiar and almost comforting. He walked past the circulation desk, past the rows of computers, toward the reserve section in the back.

Every step was a negotiation with his own body. The denim rubbed against him, sending small sparks of sensation through nerves that were still raw and sensitive. He'd learned to walk differently over the past few weeks, to move in a way that didn't attract attention, that didn't betray what was happening to him. But today was harder.

Today he was carrying her inside him.

The reserve desk was staffed by a young woman with glasses and a friendly smile. She looked up as he approached.

"Can I help you?"

"I'm here to pick up some journals for Professor Reed." His voice sounded strange to his own ears. Too tight. He cleared his throat. "She said they'd be ready."

The woman nodded and turned to a shelf behind her. "Let me check. What's your name?"

"Hayden Decker."

She pulled out a stack of three heavy volumes, each one bound in dark green cloth. "Here you go. She said you'd be coming. Need a bag?"

"Please."

He watched her slide the journals into a canvas tote, his hands trembling slightly as he reached for it. The weight of the books felt grounding, real, something to focus on besides the warmth spreading through his groin.

"You okay?"

He looked up. The woman was watching him with concern in her eyes.

"Fine. Just tired. Long night."

She smiled. "I know the feeling. Midterms?"

"Something like that."

He took the bag and turned away, his heart hammering. Long night. If only she knew. If anyone knew. The thought made him dizzy, the sheer risk of what he was doing, what he was carrying, what he was hiding.

He walked toward the exit, his pace quickening, his need to get out of the library overwhelming. But as he passed the reading room, he saw a familiar figure at one of the long wooden tables.

Professor Reed.

She was sitting with her back to him, her dark hair in its precise bun, a stack of papers before her. She was reading, her posture perfect. Her presence commanded even from this distance. He stopped, his breath catching.

She turned slightly, as if sensing him. Her eyes met his across the room.

She smiled.

It was a small thing, barely a movement of her lips. But he saw it. He felt it. That smile was a reminder, a promise, a threat. She knew what he was carrying. She knew what he was feeling. She knew he was hers.

He looked away first.

He always looked away first.

He clutched the bag of journals to his chest and hurried toward the exit, his face burning. The afternoon air hit him, cool and welcome, but it did nothing to slow his heart.

He had to deliver the books to her office. He had to go back there. He had to step into that room where she'd made him kneel, where she'd used his mouth, where she'd bent him over her desk and taken what she wanted.

He had to go back there and face her again.

The walk across campus was a blur of sensation. Every step sent a small shock through his body, a reminder of the fullness he still carried. He passed students laughing, professors discussing, the whole normal world going about its business while he was something else entirely.

He was hers.

The thought settled into him like a stone dropping into water, sending ripples through everything he'd thought he was. He was a graduate student. He was smart and ambitious. He was going to get that fellowship, build a career, make something of himself.

And he was also a man who walked across campus with a professor's seed still warm inside him, carrying her books, doing her errands, obeying her commands.

The two truths existed together now. He couldn't separate them.

He reached the humanities building and climbed the stairs, his legs heavy, his breath short. The hallway was quiet, the late afternoon light slanting through the windows in golden rectangles. He stopped outside her office door.

The nameplate read: Dr. Tamsin Reed, Professor of Political Science.

He knocked.

"Come in."

Her voice was calm, measured, exactly as it always was. He pushed the door open and stepped inside.

She was at her desk, exactly where he'd seen her in the library. She must have walked back ahead of him, taking a different route, arriving before him. She looked up from her papers, her eyes sharp and appraising.

"Ah, Mr. Decker. You have my journals."

"Yes, Professor."

He set the bag on the edge of her desk, careful not to meet her eyes. Her gaze rested on him, assessing, enjoying.

"Did you have any trouble?"

"No, ma'am."

"Good." She leaned back in her chair, her fingers steepled. "And how do you feel?"

The question caught him off guard. He looked up, his mouth opening, closing.

"I... I'm fine."

"Are you?"

She knew. She knew exactly what he was feeling, what he was carrying, what he was hiding. She'd designed it that way.

He swallowed. "Yes, Professor."

"Come here."

He walked around the desk, his steps automatic, his body responding before his mind could catch up. He stopped beside her chair.

"Kneel."

He dropped to his knees, the carpet soft beneath him. She reached out, her hand finding his chin, tilting his face up to meet hers.

"You did well today, Mr. Decker. You followed instructions. You didn't hesitate. You didn't question."

"Thank you, Professor."

"But we're not done yet." Her thumb traced his lower lip, pressing slightly. "I want you to understand something. This errand, this simple task, it's part of your training. You need to learn that my control extends beyond this room. Beyond these walls. You carry me with you everywhere now."

He nodded, his breath shallow.

"Say it."

"I carry you with me everywhere."

"Good." She released his chin and stood, smoothing her skirt. She walked to the door and he heard the soft click of the lock. His pulse jumped. "Now, I want to see how well you've kept my instructions."

She returned to stand before him, looking down at his kneeling form. Her fingers worked at his belt, his button, his zipper. He held his breath as she pulled his jeans down over his hips, exposing the boxers beneath. The fabric was damp. Stained.

"Good," she murmured, tracing the wet spot with one finger. "You didn't clean up."

"No, Professor. I didn't."

"Show me."

He hooked his thumbs in the waistband of his boxers and pushed them down. His cock was soft, spent, nestled against his thigh. The lubricant she'd used had dried tacky on his skin. And lower, between his cheeks, the evidence of her was still there. Her seed. Her claim.

She knelt beside him, her hand reaching between his legs from behind. He gasped when her fingers found him, pressing against his entrance, still slick and swollen from last night.

"Still full," she said, her voice satisfied. "Still mine."

"Yes, Professor."

She pressed one finger inside him, and his body opened for her like it had been waiting. He gasped, his hands clenching on his thighs. She added a second finger, stretching him, and he couldn't hold back the whimper that escaped his throat.

"Did you feel me all day?" she asked, her fingers moving inside him.

"Yes. Every step. Every moment."

"Good." She curled her fingers, finding that spot, and his hips jerked forward. "That's what I wanted. I wanted you to remember who you belong to."

"I remember. I remember."

She worked him slowly, her fingers pressing and curling while her other hand wrapped around his cock. He was hardening now, his body responding despite his exhaustion. Or because of it. He couldn't tell anymore.

"You're learning," she said, stroking him in time with her fingers. "You're learning to carry me. To feel me even when I'm not touching you."

"Please," he gasped.

"Please what?"

"Please, I need to..."

"Not yet." She withdrew her fingers, and he cried out at the loss. She stood, looking down at him. "Stand up."

He rose on unsteady legs, his cock jutting forward, his skin flushed. She walked to her desk and cleared a space among the papers.

"Bend over."

The words sent a shiver through him. He obeyed, his chest pressing against the cool wood, his cheek turning to rest on the surface. He heard her opening a drawer, the familiar sounds of preparation. When her fingers returned to him, they were slick again.

"I'm going to take you again," she said, her voice calm. "And this time, you're going to stay still. You're going to take what I give you. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Professor."

"Good boy."

She pressed into him slowly, the thick silicone filling him inch by inch. He bit his lip to keep from crying out. She was bigger than last night, or maybe he was just more sensitive. Either way, the stretch was intense, bordering on pain, and he loved it.

She bottomed out and held still, her hand pressing between his shoulder blades. "Feel that?"

"Yes."

"That's me inside you. That's my claim. Say it."

"Your claim. You're inside me. I'm yours."

She started to move. Slow thrusts at first, each one pressing deep, each one rubbing against that spot that made his vision blur. He gripped the edge of the desk, his knuckles white, his breath coming in short gasps.

"Faster," she said, and he realized she was talking to herself. She set the pace she wanted, her hips snapping forward, the sound of skin against skin filling the small office. He was being rocked against the desk, his cock rubbing against the wood, and he was close. So close.

"Please," he gasped. "Can I..."

"Not yet."

She kept going, her pace relentless, her breathing steady while his was ragged. He was trembling, his whole body wound tight, every nerve focused on the point where they were joined.

"Professor, please, I can't..."

"You can. You will. You'll wait until I tell you."

He whimpered, his forehead pressing against the desk. She reached around and wrapped her hand around his cock, stroking him in time with her thrusts. The dual sensation was too much, not enough, everything.

"Now," she said, her voice finally showing strain. "Come for me now."

He broke. His release tore through him, his body clenching around her, his cock pulsing in her hand. He came with a cry that he couldn't hold back, his seed spilling onto the desk, onto his stomach, everywhere. She kept moving through his orgasm, drawing it out, making him feel every wave.

When he finally stilled, she pulled out slowly. He heard the soft sounds of her removing the harness, cleaning up. Then her hand was in his hair, gentle now.

"Good boy. You did so well."

He couldn't speak. He could only lie there, trembling, his body spent. She helped him stand, helped him redress, her hands gentle on his shaking limbs.

"Now," she said, handing him a folder from her desk. "Take these to the department office. And then come back here. I'll have more instructions for you."

"Yes, Professor."

He took the folder and turned toward the door, his hand on the handle.

"Mr. Decker."

He looked back.

"You're learning. I'm pleased."

The words should have made him angry. They should have filled him with shame. Instead, they settled into him like warmth, like approval, like something he hadn't known he needed.

"Thank you, Professor."

He stepped out into the hallway and closed the door behind him, the folder clutched to his chest. The hallway was empty, the light still golden, the world still normal.

But he wasn't normal anymore.

He was hers.

And somewhere deep inside, in a place he was only beginning to acknowledge, he wasn't sure he wanted to be anything else.

Overnight Draft

The address she had texted him was in a quiet neighborhood of old houses with deep porches and mature trees. Hayden stood at the bottom of the stone steps, his overnight bag in his hand, and tried to remember the last time he had been inside a professor's home. He couldn't. It was a boundary he had never crossed, one he had assumed was inviolable.

He climbed the steps and rang the bell. The door opened before he could lower his hand.

Tamsin Reed stood in the doorway, wearing a silk robe the color of dark wine. Her hair was down, loose around her shoulders, and the sight of it was more disorienting than any command she had ever given him. She looked like a different person. She looked like someone who lived here.

"You're on time," she said. "Come in."

He stepped inside. The house smelled of wood polish and something floral, not quite perfume, maybe a candle. The living room was neat, tasteful, filled with books and the kind of furniture that looked expensive without trying. A half-empty glass of wine sat on the coffee table next to a manila folder.

"Sit," she said, gesturing to the couch. "We have a lot of work to do."

He sat. She remained standing, looking down at him. The robe fell open slightly at her collar, revealing the pale skin of her chest. He looked away.

"The draft of my recommendation is mostly done," she said. "I'll finish it tonight. But first, I need you to understand what this arrangement looks like when it's not confined to an office."

He swallowed. "I understand."

"Do you?" She walked around the coffee table, her bare feet silent on the hardwood floor. She stopped in front of him, close enough that he could smell the wine on her breath. "This isn't a session, Mr. Decker. This is a preview. Of what it means to be someone I take an interest in."

She reached out and touched his chin, tilting his head up. Her eyes were steady, appraising.

"You will stay here tonight. You will serve me as I direct. You will not leave until I say you can. And you will thank me for every moment of it."

A protest rose in his throat, instinctive and useless. He swallowed it down. "Yes, Professor Reed."

"Good." She released his chin and stepped back. "Undress. Fold your clothes neatly on the chair."

He stood. His hands were steady as he unbuttoned his shirt, but his heart was not. He could feel it pounding against his ribs as he pulled off his undershirt, as he unbuckled his belt, as he stepped out of his pants and boxers. He folded everything, just as she had said, and placed it on the armchair by the window.

He stood naked in her living room, the cool air raising goosebumps on his skin. She walked around him, a slow circuit, her robe rustling softly. He felt her gaze like a physical weight.

"Kneel," she said.

He knelt on the hardwood floor. It was hard and unforgiving against his knees.

She sat on the couch, crossing her legs. The robe fell open, revealing her thighs, the dark shadow between them. She picked up her wine glass and took a sip.

"You may begin."

He crawled to her, the movement awkward and humiliating. He settled between her knees and reached for the robe. She let him push it aside. Her skin was warm. She was already wet.

He lowered his head.

The first minutes were mechanical, a routine he had learned in her office. But the setting changed everything. The soft light of her living room. The distant hum of a refrigerator. The smell of her home surrounding him. This was not a transaction between a professor and a student. This was something else.

She did not rush him. She did not give him instructions. She simply let him work, her hand resting lightly on the back of his head, guiding him when she wanted more pressure, less speed. He started with broad strokes, tasting her, learning her again. She was slick and warm against his mouth, and he found the rhythm she preferred, slow and deliberate, his tongue tracing the folds of her before settling on the place that made her breath change.

She finished her wine, setting the glass aside with a soft clink. Her fingers tightened in his hair, pulling him closer. He pressed his mouth against her more firmly, his tongue working in tight circles. She shifted her hips forward, opening herself to him, and he took the invitation, sliding two fingers inside her while his mouth continued its work. She was wet enough that they slid in easily, and he curved them upward, searching for the spot that would make her lose control.

"You're improving," she said, her voice flat. "You've learned to listen."

He made a sound of acknowledgment, his mouth full of her. He kept his pace steady, his fingers moving in a slow rhythm that matched his tongue. He could feel her thighs beginning to tense around him, her breathing growing shallow. She pressed his head down, harder, holding him there until he felt her thighs tighten, heard her breath catch. Her body shuddered against his mouth, her inner walls clenching around his fingers. But when she came, it was quiet, controlled, a soft exhale and a shudder that ran through her body. She held him in place until she was done, then released him.

"Good." She stood, and he stayed on his knees. "Follow me."

She led him through the house to the bedroom. The bed was large, covered in white linen. A single lamp cast a warm glow across the room. She sat on the edge of the bed and gestured to the floor.

"Wait."

She stood and let the robe fall from her shoulders. She was naked underneath, her body lean and sharp in the lamplight. She walked to a dresser and opened a drawer, pulling out a small leather case. She opened it on the bed, revealing a collection of objects he did not have names for.

She selected a slender black rod, smooth and curved at one end. She turned to him, her expression unreadable.

"I'm going to use you for a while," she said. "You will not come. You will not ask to come. You will not beg. When I'm finished, you will thank me for the use of your body."

He stared at the rod in her hand. "Yes, Professor Reed."

She started with her hands, her fingers cool and precise as they wrapped around him. She stroked him slowly, methodically, bringing him to full hardness. He was already aching from the denial, from the way she had used his mouth, and her touch made it worse. She leaned down and took him in her mouth, her tongue swirling around the head, her lips tight. He groaned, his hips lifting off the floor, and she pulled back immediately.

"Did I say you could move?" she asked.

"No. I'm sorry."

"Stay still."

She returned to her work, her mouth warm and wet around him. She took him deeper, her throat constricting around the head, and he forced himself not to move, not to thrust, not to make a sound. She brought him to the edge of orgasm and stopped, watching him tremble. His cock twitched in the cool air, desperate for release, and she watched it with clinical detachment.

"Not yet," she murmured.

She turned him over and used the rod on his thighs, his back, the sensitive skin behind his knees. The sting was sharp and precise, and he gasped, his fingers curling against the floor.

"Count," she said.

"One."

Another strike. "Two."

She made him count to twenty. By the end, his skin was burning, and he was hard again despite the pain. She guided him onto the bed, onto his back, and straddled him, taking him inside her with a single smooth motion.

She rode him slowly, deliberately, her hands braced on his chest. She watched his face as she moved, cataloging every twitch, every suppressed sound. He could feel the pressure building again, the desperate need for release, and he knew she could feel it too.

"Not yet," she murmured.

She slowed, almost to a stop, and the pressure subsided into a dull ache. She smiled, a thin, satisfied curve of her lips.

"You're learning."

The night stretched on. She used him in every position she chose. On his back. On his stomach. Bent over the edge of the bed. On his knees on the floor. Each time she brought him close, each time she pulled back. His body became a thing separate from him, a vessel for her pleasure, a tool she operated with clinical precision.

At some point, she left him on the floor and read from the manila folder, making notes on the recommendation letter with a pen. He lay there, naked, aching, his mind blank with exhaustion. She looked up at him once, her glasses perched on her nose.

"You're doing well," she said. "I think this will be an excellent letter."

He said nothing. He had no words left.

Later, she guided him to the bathroom and made him clean her with a warm cloth. She stood still as he worked, her eyes half-closed. When he was done, she touched his cheek, a gesture almost tender.

"Thank me."

He opened his mouth. The words were hard, like stones in his throat. "Thank you, Professor Reed. For using me."

"Good." She turned and walked back to the bedroom. "You can sleep on the floor. There's a blanket in the closet."

He retrieved the blanket and lay on the rug at the foot of her bed. She turned off the lamp, and the room fell into darkness. He heard her settle into the bed, the rustle of sheets, the soft sigh of her breathing.

He lay awake for a long time, staring at the ceiling. His body was sore, used, and his mind was a blank, exhausted space. He thought about the fellowship, the letter, the future he was sacrificing for this. But the thoughts felt distant, like they belonged to someone else.

He was still awake when the first gray light of dawn crept through the curtains. She woke and found him there, curled on the floor, and she did not tell him to leave. She told him to come to the bed.

He crawled onto the mattress, and she guided him inside her again. It was slow, almost gentle, a lazy morning use. She came with a soft groan, her fingers in his hair, and then she pushed him away.

"You can go now," she said. "I'll have the letter finished by Monday."

He dressed in his rumpled clothes, his body moving mechanically. He let himself out of her house and walked to his car in the pale morning light. He sat in the driver's seat for a long moment, his hands on the wheel, staring at nothing.

He was not the same person who had walked up those stone steps the night before. He was something else now. Something that had accepted its place.

He started the car and drove home.

Committee Risk

The faculty reception filled the university's main hall with a low hum of conversation and the clink of wine glasses. Hayden stood near the far wall, a plastic cup of punch growing warm in his hand, watching the clusters of professors and donors and distinguished guests move through the space like slow currents.

He had been here long enough. Long enough to lose count of the polite smiles he'd offered to department administrators he barely knew. Long enough to nod through discussions about grant cycles until his jaw ached. And long enough to feel Tamsin's presence across the room like a weight pressing against his sternum.

She stood near the center, surrounded by three men from the fellowship committee. Her dark blazer sat perfectly on her shoulders, her hair in that precise bun, her wine glass held at an angle that made her look both relaxed and commanding. She laughed at something one of them said, and the sound carried across the room, smooth and practiced.

Hayden's stomach tightened.

The overnight session had been four days ago. He'd spent those days in his apartment, replaying every moment of it, feeling the ghost of her hands on his body. He'd tried to focus on his research. Tried to convince himself the arrangement was just a transaction, just a series of uncomfortable meetings that would end once the letter was submitted.

But the letter wasn't submitted yet. And Tamsin had made it clear, in her flat administrative tone, that tonight he would be useful.

"You'll attend the reception," she had told him in her office yesterday. "The committee will be there. It's important that you're visible, that they see you as a serious candidate."

He had nodded, relieved that she was giving him a normal task.

"There's a storage room off the east corridor," she had continued, not looking up from her papers. "Small, locks from the inside. At half past eight, you'll excuse yourself and wait for me there."

The relief had evaporated.

"Professor Reed, people will notice if we're both gone."

"They'll notice if you're gone briefly. They won't notice if I'm gone a little longer. We'll be careful."

He had wanted to argue. He had wanted to say that this was too risky, that someone would see, that the entire point of the fellowship was his reputation and she was threatening to destroy it. But he had seen the look in her eyes. The same look she had worn when she told him to thank her, when she denied him release, when she made him say the words.

The same look that said his compliance was not optional.

So now he stood against the wall, watching the clock above the door, feeling each minute drag past like a stone being pulled through mud.

Quarter past eight.

He took a sip of his punch. It was too sweet, artificial, coating his tongue with something that made him want to spit.

A graduate assistant from the history department approached him, a woman with round glasses and a nervous smile. "You're Hayden Decker, right? The one applying for the Stanton Fellowship?"

"Yes." His voice came out rougher than he intended. He cleared his throat. "Yes, I am."

"I'm Sarah. I'm applying too. Well, for the Marshall, but I heard the Stanton is even more competitive." She laughed, a short nervous sound. "I guess we're both hoping for a miracle."

He forced a smile. "Something like that."

Sarah launched into a story about her research, her words flowing in a stream that he only half caught. He nodded at the right moments, made sounds of agreement, but his eyes kept drifting to the clock, to Tamsin, to the door that led to the east corridor.

Almost half past.

"I'm sorry," he said, cutting Sarah off mid-sentence. "I need to use the restroom. It was nice meeting you."

He didn't wait for her response. He set his cup on a passing tray and moved through the crowd, keeping his pace casual, his expression neutral. He passed a group of professors discussing department funding. He passed a table of appetizers that he hadn't touched. He passed Tamsin, who didn't look at him, who kept her attention fixed on the man beside her.

But he saw her fingers tighten slightly on her wine glass. A signal. A confirmation.

He pushed through the door into the east corridor and let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding.

The hallway was empty, lined with closed doors and dim overhead lights. The storage room was three doors down on the left. He walked to it, his footsteps too loud on the polished floor, and tried the handle. It opened.

The room was small, maybe eight feet by ten, filled with stacked chairs and folded tables and boxes of decorations from past events. A single bulb hung from the ceiling, casting harsh shadows across the cluttered space. He stepped inside and closed the door behind him, sliding the lock into place.

The click of the bolt was deafening in the silence.

He stood in the darkness, his back against the wall, his heart pounding so hard he could feel it in his throat. The room smelled like dust and old paper. He tried to focus on that smell, to ground himself in something real, but his mind kept spinning through worst case scenarios.

What if someone followed him? What if Tamsin was delayed? What if the door didn't lock properly? What if they were caught?

He heard footsteps in the corridor.

His breath caught. He pressed himself harder against the wall, as if he could disappear into it. The footsteps grew closer, paused outside the door, and then there was a soft knock. Two taps. The signal.

He reached out and unlocked the door, pulling it open just enough for Tamsin to slip through.

She moved past him into the room, and he closed the door again, sliding the lock back into place. The light from the hallway had been brief, but it had been enough to show him her face. Calm. Composed. The same expression she wore when grading papers.

"You were visible," she said, her voice low. "Good. The committee noticed you."

"Professor Reed, this is insane. If someone finds us in here, if someone sees us leave together, everything falls apart. The fellowship, my career, your reputation."

She turned to face him, and in the dim light he could see the faint curve of her lips. "That's what makes it interesting."

"Interesting?" His voice cracked. "This isn't interesting. This is dangerous."

"Everything worth doing is dangerous." She stepped closer, close enough that he could smell her perfume, something floral and sharp. "And you've been very good lately, Hayden. You deserve a reward."

He didn't want a reward. He wanted to leave. He wanted to go back to the reception and pretend this hadn't happened and pray that the letter would be submitted before she pushed him too far.

But his body was already responding to her presence, already remembering the patterns she had drilled into him. His hands were trembling. His breathing was shallow. And beneath the fear, buried deep where he didn't want to acknowledge it, there was something else. Something that stirred when she looked at him like that.

"On your knees," she said.

He hesitated. One second. Two. The longest hesitation he had allowed himself since that first day in her office.

Her hand came up, not fast, not hard, but with purpose. She gripped his chin, her fingers pressing into the bone, and tilted his face up to meet her eyes.

"I said on your knees."

The words hit him like a physical force. His knees buckled. He dropped to the dusty floor, the impact jarring through his legs, and looked up at her from the ground.

"That's better." She released his chin and stepped back, reaching for the zipper of her skirt. "You don't have long. Depending on when they notice I'm gone. So you'll need to be efficient."

She pushed her skirt down, letting it pool around her ankles, and then her underwear followed, a thin strip of black fabric that she stepped out of with practiced ease. She didn't bother with her blazer or her blouse. She only adjusted her position, spreading her legs slightly, and looked down at him.

"You know what to do."

He did. He had done it a dozen times now, in her office, in her home, in the dark of his own apartment when she sent him instructions. But never like this. Never with people twenty feet away. Never with the door unlocked, the lock flimsy, the walls thin enough that he could hear the murmur of conversation from the hall.

He crawled forward, his hands finding her thighs, his mouth finding her. The taste of her was familiar now, a mixture of salt and skin and something that was uniquely hers. He focused on the mechanics, on the rhythm she had taught him, on the small sounds she made when he did something right.

She didn't make those sounds now. She was silent, her hand resting on the back of his head, her breathing controlled. She was listening. They both were.

He started slowly, pressing his lips against her inner thigh first, feeling the warmth of her skin against his mouth. He traced a path upward with his tongue, tasting her, feeling the subtle tremor in her muscles as he moved closer to where she wanted him. When he finally reached her center, he paused, letting his breath ghost over her, and felt her fingers tighten in his hair.

"Don't tease," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "We don't have time."

He obeyed. His tongue found her, flat and broad at first, drawing a slow stroke upward that made her exhale sharply through her nose. He repeated the motion, finding the rhythm she preferred, varying the pressure, circling the swollen bud of her clit before sucking gently. Her taste intensified, musky and sharp, and he felt the evidence of her arousal coating his chin.

Her hand moved from the back of his head to grip his shoulder, her nails digging through his shirt. She was quiet, so quiet, but her body spoke. The slight roll of her hips. The way her thighs tensed beneath his palms. The catch in her breath when he found the right angle.

Footsteps passed in the corridor. Heavy footsteps, a man's, accompanied by the low rumble of a phone conversation.

Hayden froze, his mouth still pressed against her, his heart slamming against his ribs.

"Don't stop," she whispered.

He couldn't. His body wouldn't obey. The footsteps grew closer, paused, and then continued, fading toward the main hall.

"Now," she said, her voice carrying an edge of command. "Before someone else comes."

He forced himself to move, to pick up the rhythm again. His hands were shaking. His jaw ached. The fear was a living thing inside him, coiling through his chest, making it hard to breathe.

But he kept going. Because she had told him to. Because the letter wasn't submitted. Because he had learned, over the past weeks, that resistance only made things worse.

He shifted his approach, pressing two fingers inside her while his tongue continued its work. She was slick and tight, her inner walls clenching around him immediately. He curled his fingers upward, finding that spot she'd taught him to seek, and stroked it in time with the movements of his mouth. Her grip on his shoulder tightened. A small sound escaped her, barely audible, something between a gasp and a moan that she swallowed almost immediately.

He could feel her building. The tension in her thighs. The way her breathing grew ragged despite her efforts to control it. The subtle trembling that started in her core and radiated outward. He increased the pressure of his tongue, quickened the pace of his fingers, and felt her hand move from his shoulder to the back of his head again, pressing him closer.

She shifted her weight, her hand pressing harder on the back of his head, guiding him deeper. He heard her breath catch, just slightly, and knew she was close.

"Good," she said, the word barely audible. "That's good."

He wanted to close his eyes, to block out the room, the risk, the reality of what he was doing. But he kept them open, watching her face in the dim light, watching the way her lips parted, the way her eyelids fluttered. Her composure was fracturing. He could see it. The careful mask she wore for the committee members, for the donors, for the entire academic establishment, was cracking beneath his mouth.

Her hips jerked forward once, twice, and then she came silently, a single sharp exhale, her body tensing and then relaxing against his mouth. Her inner walls pulsed around his fingers, rhythmic and insistent, and he felt the wetness increase against his tongue. She held his head in place until the last tremor passed, her grip gradually loosening, and then she stepped back, pulling away from him.

He stayed on his knees, gasping for breath, his mind spinning. His face was wet, his fingers trembling. The taste of her lingered on his tongue.

She pulled her underwear up, her skirt back into place, smoothing the fabric with the same precise movements she used to arrange papers on her desk. When she was done, she looked at him, her expression unchanged.

"Wait a few minutes," she said. "Then go back to the reception. Smile at the committee members. Be visible."

He nodded, not trusting his voice.

She unlocked the door, opened it a crack, and peered out into the corridor. Satisfied that it was empty, she slipped through, pulling the door closed behind her.

The click of the lock echoed in the small room.

Hayden stayed on his knees, his forehead pressed to the dusty floor, his body shaking with adrenaline and shame and something else, something that felt dangerously close to relief.

He counted to sixty. Then he counted again. And again. And again.

When he finally stood, his legs were unsteady, his mouth dry, his mind a fog of conflicting emotions. He unlocked the door and stepped into the empty corridor, walking back toward the main hall with measured steps.

The reception was still going. The same clusters of people. The same low hum of conversation. He found an empty spot near the wall and stood there, his hands clasped in front of him, his eyes scanning the room.

Tamsin was back in the center, talking to the committee members, her wine glass refilled, her smile perfectly in place. She didn't look at him.

Sarah from the history department approached him again, her face bright with curiosity. "Hey, you missed the announcement. They're doing a toast for the retiring dean soon."

"Good," he said. "I'll be here."

She tilted her head, studying him. "You look pale. Are you feeling okay?"

"Fine. Just tired."

She nodded, accepting the lie, and drifted back into the crowd.

Hayden stood alone, watching Tamsin laugh at something one of the committee members said, and he understood, with a clarity that cut through the fog, that this was not a temporary arrangement. This was not something he could escape once the letter was written.

This was his life now. Her schedule. Her rules. Her risk.

And he had just proven, on his knees in a dusty storage room, that he would follow her anywhere.

Letter Submitted

The email notification arrived just before his morning coffee. Hayden stared at his phone screen, heart hammering against his ribs as he read the subject line: Fellowship Application Confirmation. His thumb hovered over the message for a long moment before he tapped it open.

Dear Mr. Decker,

We have received all required materials for your fellowship application, including your letter of recommendation from Professor Tamsin Reed. Your file is now complete and will be reviewed by the committee on the scheduled date.

He read it again and again. The letter was in. It was actually in. A wave of relief washed through him so intense that his knees nearly buckled. He had to grip the edge of the library table to steady himself.

It's over, he thought. It's actually over.

The thought felt foreign in his mind, like a word he'd forgotten the meaning of. For seven weeks he had been showing up to her office, kneeling on her floor, taking whatever she demanded. His body had been hers to use. His schedule hers to command. His dignity stripped away piece by piece.

But now the letter was in. The fellowship committee had it. There was nothing more she could hold over him.

Hayden closed the email and opened his messages. He typed quickly, fingers trembling with a mixture of relief and something that felt almost like defiance.

Professor Reed, I see the letter has been submitted. Thank you for following through. I appreciate your support. Best, Hayden Decker.

He hit send before he could second-guess himself. The message was polite, professional, and final. It was a closing statement, a door gently but firmly shut.

Her response came before he could even set his phone down.

Mr. Decker. My office. Tonight at six. We have much to discuss regarding your continued development. T. Reed.

The blood drained from his face.

No. No, this wasn't how it was supposed to work. The deal was the letter for his compliance. The letter was in. The arrangement was complete. She couldn't just keep demanding things. That wasn't the agreement.

He typed back with shaking hands: Professor Reed, I'm not sure I understand. The letter has been submitted. I believe our arrangement has concluded.

Her reply came faster this time. Mr. Decker. Six o'clock. Don't make me come find you.

He stared at the screen for a long time. The library hummed around him, students clicking keyboards and turning pages, completely oblivious to the quiet war happening in his chest. He thought about not going. He thought about ignoring the message, blocking her number, pretending he'd never seen it.

But he knew better. She had copies of everything. She had photos from that first night, recordings from the overnight session, evidence that would destroy his career and his future. The letter being submitted didn't erase that. It never could.

The realization settled over him like a cold blanket. The letter was never the end of the leverage. It was just the first step. Now she had proof of his compliance, proof that he had done everything she asked, proof that he could be controlled. That was worth more than any letter.

He was trapped. Not for the fellowship. For the rest of his academic career.

Hayden closed his laptop and sat in the library until his hands stopped shaking. Then he gathered his things and walked to the humanities building.

He arrived at her office a few minutes early. He stood outside the door, watching the second hand crawl across his watch face. When the hour struck, he knocked.

Come in, Mr. Decker.

Her voice was calm, measured, completely unsurprised. He opened the door and stepped inside. She was at her desk, laptop open, a stack of papers neatly organized beside her. She looked the same as she always did. Dark hair in that precise bun. Sharp blazer. Cool, assessing eyes that swept over him like he was a specimen under a microscope.

Close the door. Lock it.

He did. The click of the lock echoed in the quiet room. He turned to face her, hands clasped in front of him, trying to maintain some semblance of composure.

Professor Reed, I came because I wanted to clarify the terms of our agreement.

She raised an eyebrow. Did you.

The letter has been submitted. I fulfilled my end of the bargain. I don't see why I need to continue with these meetings.

Tamsin leaned back in her chair, studying him with an expression that made his skin prickle. She picked up a pen and tapped it against the desk, a slow, deliberate rhythm.

Mr. Decker, I think you're misunderstanding something fundamental about our arrangement.

What's that?

She set the pen down and folded her hands on the desk. The letter was never the end goal. The letter was the beginning. It was the proof that you could be trusted to follow instructions, that you understood the value of discretion, that you were willing to make sacrifices for your future.

Hayden's throat tightened. I don't understand.

You will. She stood and walked around the desk, her heels clicking against the floor. She stopped in front of him, close enough that he could smell her perfume. The same perfume he had breathed in during every session, the scent that had become synonymous with submission.

You see, Hayden, the fellowship is just the first step. After that, there's the dissertation. Then the job market. Then tenure. Each step requires recommendations, connections, people who can vouch for you. I am that person. I will always be that person.

She reached out and touched his chin, tilting his face up to meet her eyes. Her touch was light, almost gentle, but it carried the weight of absolute authority.

I own your future, Mr. Decker. Not just for this fellowship. For everything. And I have no intention of letting that go.

He should have been angry. He should have been furious, should have pushed her hand away, should have walked out and taken his chances. But he wasn't angry. He was tired. He was so incredibly tired of fighting something he couldn't win.

You're saying this never ends, he whispered.

She smiled. It was not a kind smile. I'm saying it ends when I decide it ends. And I haven't decided yet.

Hayden closed his eyes. The fight drained out of him like water from a cracked vessel. He had known, on some level, that this was coming. He had known the moment he knelt on her floor that first time that he was giving her something he could never take back. But he had hoped. He had clung to the belief that the letter would be the finish line.

It wasn't. It never was.

Open your eyes, Mr. Decker.

He did. She was still there, still watching him, still holding his future in her hands.

Good. Now kneel.

He didn't hesitate. His knees hit the floor before his mind could catch up, a response so automatic it frightened him. He knelt at her feet, hands resting on his thighs, head bowed. The position felt natural now. It felt like home.

That's better. She reached down and ran her fingers through his hair, a gesture that was almost affectionate. You've come a long way, Hayden. Do you remember how nervous you were that first day? How your hands shook when you asked for the letter?

Yes, Professor.

And now look at you. Kneeling without being told. Responding to my voice like a trained animal. She tugged his hair gently, tilting his head back. I've molded you into exactly what I needed. And I'm very pleased with the results.

He wanted to feel ashamed. He wanted to feel degraded. But all he felt was a strange, hollow acceptance. This was his life now. This was what he had become.

I have a new schedule for you, she continued, releasing his hair and walking back to her desk. She picked up a piece of paper and held it out to him. Take it.

He rose to his feet and took the paper. It was a printed calendar, marked with days and times. Three evenings a week. Her office. No exceptions.

This is your standing appointment. You will be here every week, three times a week, for the foreseeable future. If you need to cancel, you'll inform me at least a day in advance and provide a valid reason. If you miss a session without notice, there will be consequences.

He looked at the paper, at the neat rows of times and dates stretching into the next month, the month after that, the rest of the semester. It was a schedule of submission, written in black and white.

What about the fellowship? he asked, his voice quiet. What if I get it?

Then you'll have even more to lose, won't you? She smiled again. A fellowship student with a bright future, a reputation to protect, a career on the line. That's even more leverage than a desperate graduate student. She stepped closer and placed a hand on his chest, feeling his heartbeat through his shirt. I win either way, Hayden. That's the beauty of it.

He stood there, holding the schedule, feeling her hand against his chest, and realized that she was right. She had won. Not just the battle, but the entire war. He had walked into her office seven weeks ago thinking he could trade his body for a letter and walk away. He had been a fool.

Now I want you to show me that you understand, she said, stepping back. Take off your clothes. Fold them neatly on the chair. Then kneel in the center of the room.

He did. He undressed slowly, methodically, folding each piece of clothing with care. His shirt first, then his pants, then his underwear. He placed them on the chair, then walked to the center of the room and knelt on the cold floor.

She circled him, her heels clicking against the linoleum. He kept his eyes forward, his hands on his thighs, his breathing steady. He had done this so many times now that it felt like muscle memory.

Look at you, she said, stopping in front of him. Perfectly still. Perfectly obedient. Do you know how long it took to get you here?

No, Professor.

Seven weeks. Seven weeks of training, of discipline, of breaking down your resistance piece by piece. And now I have exactly what I wanted. She reached down and cupped his chin, lifting his face. A student who understands his place.

He met her eyes. There was no defiance left in him. No fight. Just acceptance. Complete, total acceptance of the role she had carved out for him.

I understand, he said. The words came out steady, calm, almost peaceful. I understand my place.

She smiled, and this time there was something genuine in it. Something almost warm. Good boy.

She stepped back and unbuttoned her blazer, letting it fall to the floor. Then her blouse, sliding the buttons free one by one. Then her skirt, which pooled around her ankles before she stepped out of it. She stood before him in her underthings, her body lean and sharp in the fluorescent light, her skin pale against the dark lace of her bra and panties.

You're going to service me now, she said. And you're going to do it without being told what to do. Show me how well you've learned.

He rose to his feet and crossed to her. His hands found her waist, sliding up her ribs to cup her breasts through the lace of her bra. He could feel her nipples hardening beneath his palms, and she let out a soft sound, not quite a sigh, not quite a moan, something caught between the two that made his own pulse quicken.

Better, she murmured. Much better.

He unhooked her bra with fingers that barely trembled anymore. The garment fell away, and he cupped her bare breasts, feeling the weight of them, the softness of her skin, the way her breath caught when he brushed his thumbs across her nipples. She watched him with those cool, assessing eyes, but he could see the heat building behind them, the control beginning to slip.

He lowered himself to his knees again, pressing his mouth to her stomach, kissing a slow path down to her hips. He could smell her arousal now, warm and musky, mixing with that familiar perfume. He kissed the soft skin of her inner thighs, first one, then the other, taking his time, feeling the muscles tense beneath his lips.

She threaded her fingers through his hair and guided him where she wanted him, but she didn't have to do much guiding. He knew her body now. He knew exactly what she liked. He hooked his fingers into the waistband of her panties and slid them down her legs, and she stepped out of them without a word.

When his mouth found her center, she gasped and tightened her grip on his hair. He started slowly, tracing his tongue along her folds, tasting her, learning her again. She was wet already, slick and warm against his mouth, and the taste of her filled his senses until there was nothing else.

He worked with practiced precision, alternating between broad strokes and focused attention on her clit, drawing sounds from her that she had never made in their early sessions. Her hips rocked against his face, her breath coming faster, her fingers clenching in his hair. He could feel her thighs trembling on either side of his head, could hear the way her breathing grew ragged and uneven.

That's it, she breathed. That's exactly it.

He slid a finger inside her, then a second, curling them upward as he continued to work his tongue against her. She moaned then, a real moan, low and broken, and her hips bucked against his mouth. He could feel her clenching around his fingers, feel the orgasm building inside her, and he brought her to the edge and held her there, just as she had taught him. He slowed his tongue, lightened the pressure, kept her balanced on the precipice until she whimpered and pulled his hair hard enough to sting.

Then he pushed her over. He pressed his tongue flat against her clit and stroked firmly, matching the rhythm of his fingers inside her, and she shattered. Her whole body tensed, her thighs clamping around his head, and a broken cry escaped her lips as the orgasm crashed through her. He could feel every pulse of it against his mouth, against his fingers, and he kept going, drawing it out, extending the pleasure until she finally went limp against him, her grip on his hair loosening.

She was breathing hard when she pulled him to his feet. She kissed him, and it was the first time she had kissed him on the mouth. The intimacy of it startled him. Her tongue pressed against his, tasting herself on his lips, and she made a soft sound against his mouth, something satisfied and possessive.

You've learned well, she said, pulling back. Her eyes were dark, satisfied, possessive. I'm very pleased with your progress.

She reached down and wrapped her hand around him, and he gasped at the contact. He was already hard, had been since he'd knelt between her thighs, and her fingers were cool and sure as they stroked him. She watched his face as she worked, watching the pleasure build, watching him struggle to maintain control.

You want to come, she said. It wasn't a question.

Yes, he whispered. Please.

She smiled and released him, and the loss of her touch was almost painful. Not yet. You don't get to come until I say you can. That's part of understanding your place.

He stood there, naked and vulnerable, achingly hard, and felt nothing but a strange, hollow peace. This was his life now. This was what he had become. And somewhere in the depths of his mind, a voice whispered that maybe, just maybe, this was what he had always been meant to be.

Get dressed, she said, turning away. I'll see you Monday at six.

He dressed in silence, folding his clothes back onto his body, zipping and buttoning until he looked like a graduate student again. He picked up the schedule from her desk and folded it into his pocket.

Professor Reed, he said, pausing at the door.

She looked up from her laptop. Yes, Mr. Decker?

He wanted to say something. He wanted to ask if there was any way out, any end in sight, any hope of freedom. But he already knew the answer.

Nothing, he said. I'll see you Monday.

He walked out of her office and down the empty hallway, his footsteps echoing in the silence. The building was quiet, the last light of evening filtering through the windows at the end of the corridor. He paused at the exit and looked back at her door, closed and locked, hiding everything that had happened inside.

The letter was in. But he was not free. He would never be free.

He stepped out into the cool evening air and walked across campus, the schedule burning a hole in his pocket. Three evenings a week. Her office. No exceptions.

It was not an arrangement. It was not a deal. It was a sentence. And he was serving it for the rest of his academic life.

Hayden Decker walked home in the gathering dusk, a graduate student with a bright future and a secret that would never see the light of day. He walked with his head down, his shoulders slumped, his feet carrying him forward on a path he had not chosen but could no longer leave.

And somewhere behind him, in a locked office on the third floor of the humanities building, Tamsin Reed smiled at her laptop and began planning their next session.
