The First Test Drive
The Midwest sun hung low over the asphalt lot of Luna Motors, baking the rows of unsold SUVs and sedans until the chrome trim shimmered like heat mirages. Joyce Limones stood at the edge of the showroom window, arms crossed, watching a young couple circle a used minivan for the third time. Her auburn hair was pulled back in a sleek ponytail that brushed the collar of her fitted blazer, and her green eyes tracked every hesitation in their body language. Top sales performer three quarters running, and still the numbers felt fragile. The dealership was bleeding, everyone knew it, but Joyce had clawed her way to the top by outworking every other salesperson on the floor. She needed this month to break records. She needed Luna to notice.
Inside her head the familiar loop played: close the deal, secure the bonus, prove she belonged here. Cristiano had texted that morning about dinner reservations, something about celebrating her last big sale, but she had only replied with a quick heart emoji before burying the phone in her purse. There would be time for that later. Right now the lot demanded her full attention.
Diego Luna's voice cut through the low hum of the air conditioning. "Joyce. Got a minute?"
She turned, smoothing her skirt. Luna stood in the doorway to his office, broad shoulders filling the frame, salt-and-pepper hair neatly combed. He always looked like he belonged in a boardroom rather than a struggling car dealership, and that authority pulled at something inside her, the part that still wanted validation from someone who actually ran the place.
"Of course, Mr. Luna."
"Diego," he corrected, the word rolling out smooth and deep. "Walk with me. I've got a new arrival on the back row, an Explorer. Premium trim. Thought you might want first crack at showing it off."
She fell into step beside him, heels clicking on the concrete. The lot stretched out in neat lines, the scent of hot rubber and fresh wax thick in the air. Luna moved with unhurried confidence, one hand gesturing toward the vehicle as they approached.
"You've been carrying the team lately," he said. "Numbers don't lie. But I wonder if you're holding back on the bigger plays. Clients respond to certainty. To the sense that you're already closing before they even sit down."
Joyce nodded, filing the advice away. "I focus on the specs first. Let the features sell themselves."
"That's good," Luna murmured. "But sometimes the mind needs a little push. A suggestion that sticks. Get in. Let's take it around the block. Private drive. No clients yet. I want you to feel the difference."
The Explorer's interior smelled of leather and new plastic. Joyce settled into the passenger seat while Luna took the wheel, his presence filling the space. The engine turned over with a low growl. They eased out onto the service road behind the dealership, windows cracked to let in the warm breeze.
Luna's voice stayed even, almost conversational as they drove. "Breathe with the road, Joyce. Notice how the wheel feels under your hands. Every mile you cover, you're building momentum. Success compounds. You want that feeling to lock in, don't you?"
She did. The words settled somewhere behind her eyes, warm and reasonable. The vehicle handled like a dream, smooth acceleration, quiet cabin. Luna kept talking, low and steady, guiding her attention to the rhythm of the tires, the way a good close felt inevitable once the right suggestion landed.
They pulled into a quiet stretch of industrial road and stopped. Luna killed the engine, then reached for his door. "Let's step out for a moment. Check the suspension feel."
The door slammed shut with a solid, metallic crack that vibrated through the frame and straight into Joyce's chest. Something shifted inside her at the sound, a sudden flush of heat low in her belly that had no business appearing during a work conversation. Her thighs pressed together before she could stop them. The reaction startled her, professional poise cracking for a split second.
Luna's eyes flicked to her face, calm and knowing. "Good. That sound means the deal is sealed. Every time you hear it, the success settles deeper. Feels right, doesn't it?"
She swallowed, trying to shake the odd warmth spreading between her legs. "Yeah. It... it does."
They circled back to the lot. Joyce's pulse still thrummed oddly, a lingering ache that made her shift in the seat. Luna parked and opened his door again. Another slam echoed, sharper this time, and the heat flared hotter, nipples tightening against the lace of her bra. She bit the inside of her cheek to stay focused.
Back inside the showroom, Luna handed her the keys. "Show it to the next serious buyer. You'll close faster than you expect. The trigger will help."
Joyce nodded, still off-balance. The word "trigger" barely registered as anything unusual. She had work to do.
An hour later she had a young professional couple in the Explorer, running through the features with the same sharp efficiency she always used. When the husband hesitated on price, Joyce heard Luna's voice in her head, smooth and certain. The suggestion about locking in success rose unbidden. She smiled, opened the driver's door for them to feel the space, then closed it herself with deliberate force.
The slam hit her like a physical pulse. Wetness bloomed between her thighs, sudden and undeniable. Her breath caught, but she covered it with a bright laugh at something the wife said. Compliance washed through her, making the next words come easier, more persuasive. The couple signed before the hour was up.
Paperwork finished, Joyce stood alone near the service desk, thighs still slick, heart racing for reasons she couldn't name. She had closed the deal, bigger than most this month, yet her body felt borrowed, humming with an arousal that made no sense in the middle of the workday.
Her phone buzzed. Cristiano. She answered on the second ring, voice carefully steady.
"Hey, babe. Just wrapped a sale. Can I call you back after I finish the paperwork?"
His warm chuckle came through the line. "Proud of you. Don't work too late."
She hung up, pressing the phone to her chest. The lingering throb between her legs refused to fade. Confusion swirled with the faint, shameful pulse of need. She had work to finish. She had to stay sharp. Yet every time a door somewhere on the lot clicked shut, her body answered with a tiny, involuntary spark she couldn't explain.
Joyce smoothed her skirt again, squared her shoulders, and walked back toward the floor. The day wasn't over. Neither was whatever Luna had started.
