First Induction

Elrich Browning pushed through the glass doors of Arcweaver Wellness just past ten, the lobby lights dimmed to a low amber glow that made the marble floors gleam like wet stone. His crisp navy suit still held its sharp lines despite the long day, and he carried his laptop bag like a shield. The building felt emptier than usual, all echoing quiet and the faint scent of polished wood and something darker, like spiced incense that never quite faded. He had told himself this was just another late-night push for the quarterly projections, nothing more. Ambitious men did not turn down extra hours when the CEO herself requested them.

Blalock Arcweaver waited in the executive conference room on the twentieth floor, the door already cracked open. She sat at the head of the long table, violet eyes lifting from a stack of files the moment he entered. Her sleek black hair was pinned back with a single silver pin, and the tailored charcoal suit hugged her statuesque frame without a single wrinkle. She smiled, slow and polished, the kind of expression that made subordinates straighten their spines without being asked.

"Elrich. Punctual as always. Close the door behind you." Her voice rolled out smooth and low, velvet over command. "We have several hours of work ahead, and I dislike distractions."

He obeyed without thinking, the click of the latch sounding louder than it should. Heat prickled at the back of his neck as he took the seat two down from her. Something about the way she watched him made his usual confidence waver for a half-second. Attraction flickered there, unwelcome and sharp, but he buried it under professional focus. She was his supervisor, nothing more.

"The Henderson numbers still need tightening," he said, pulling out his laptop. "I ran three new scenarios on the flight back yesterday."

Blalock tilted her head, studying him with that same measured patience. "Breathe with me first. These late sessions run smoother when the mind is settled." She inhaled slowly, shoulders rising, then exhaled in a long, controlled stream. Her eyes never left his. "Match my rhythm. In for four. Hold. Out for six."

Elrich hesitated, then followed. The instruction felt odd, almost too personal, but he was used to following her lead in meetings. He drew air in, held it, let it go. Again. The tension in his shoulders eased by degrees. Her breathing stayed steady, guiding his without words now, and the room seemed to narrow around her face, those piercing eyes anchoring him.

"Good," she murmured. "Again. Deeper this time." Her gaze held steady, and something shifted in the air between them, subtle as a current. "When our eyes meet like this, you find it easier to listen, don't you, Elrich?"

He nodded once, the motion loose. The relaxation spread lower, unexpected warmth pooling in his gut. He tried to attribute it to fatigue or the late hour, but the sensation grew heavier, a low thrum of arousal that had no business appearing during a project review. His cock stirred against the fabric of his trousers, and unease twisted alongside the heat. He forced his eyes down to the laptop screen, but her voice pulled them back up.

"Eyes on me," Blalock said, the words soft yet edged with iron. The phrase landed inside him like a latch clicking shut. His gaze snapped to hers again without his permission, and the arousal spiked hotter, laced with a strange, floating calm. "There. That's better. You follow direction well."

Elrich swallowed. His pulse hammered, but the rest of him felt heavy, pliant. He should have protested the odd intimacy, yet the words stayed locked behind his teeth. Instead he heard himself say, "It helps. The breathing." The admission tasted like surrender already, light as it was.

She leaned forward, elbows on the table, the movement deliberate. Porcelain skin caught the light, and her smile deepened with something knowing. "It does. We will do this at the start of every late session. It keeps you sharp for me." The last two words landed with quiet weight, and another thread of tension unraveled in his chest. Attraction burned brighter now, mixing with the unease until he could not separate them. He was straight, driven, here for the career ladder, yet his body responded as though her voice alone had rewired something fundamental.

They worked for the next hour, projections sliding across the screen while her voice wove through the numbers like a steady undercurrent. Every so often she would pause, catch his eyes, and repeat the breathing sequence. Each time the relaxation came faster, the low thrum of arousal more insistent. He shifted in his chair, fighting the urge to adjust himself, cheeks warm. Blalock never commented, only watched with that polished hunger hidden behind professional calm.

At last she closed her own folder. "You are ready for more guidance. Weekly mentoring sessions, just the two of us. Late, like tonight. You will find them invaluable for your advancement here."

Elrich met her gaze again, the trigger phrase echoing in his mind before she even spoke it. "Eyes on me." The words formed in her velvet tone, and his body obeyed before thought could intervene. The relaxation washed through him once more, deeper now, and the arousal flared until his breathing caught. He wanted the approval in her eyes. Needed it, suddenly.

"Yes," he said, voice rougher than intended. "Ongoing sessions sound... productive." The unease lingered at the edges, warning him this was more than simple career advice, but the pull was stronger. Her smile sharpened with satisfaction, and he felt the first thin thread of something binding settle into place.

Blalock rose, smoothing her suit. "Excellent. We begin properly tomorrow evening. Rest well, Elrich. You will need your focus." She turned toward the door, leaving him to pack up on unsteady legs. The scent of her lingered, spiced and commanding, and the faint echo of her breathing guidance circled in his mind like a promise he could not yet name.
