First Call
The key turned in the lock with a familiar scrape, and Sylvie March pushed open the stage door into the dim cool of the empty theater. She had arrived early because that was what competent stage managers did. They showed up before anyone else and checked every system, making sure the chaos of opening a new production landed on someone else's shoulders, not hers.
Her bag landed on the long table by the stage manager's station, and she pulled her auburn hair from its practical bun, letting it fall loose before twisting it back up with practiced efficiency. The theater smelled like dust and wood polish with the particular musk of old velvet curtains underneath. She loved that smell. It meant possibility. It meant controlled mayhem.
Her phone buzzed with a text from the production manager confirming the lobby coffee situation, and she answered it without looking away from the prompt book she was laying out. The first production meeting for the summer repertory season was coming up soon. She had notes to organize and schedules to finalize, but mostly she needed to read the director she had never worked with before within the first few minutes of meeting him.
Roman Ellery. She had done her research. He was thirty-four, intense, known for demanding precision and getting brilliant results. His last production had been reviewed as "unflinching and visionary" which usually meant he pushed people hard. Sylvie could handle hard. What she couldn't handle was sloppy.
She was checking the third page of her rehearsal schedule when the door at the back of the house swung open and footsteps echoed down the center aisle. Looking up, she saw a man in a dark jacket moving with the kind of purpose that filled a room before he even spoke.
Roman Ellery was taller than his headshot suggested. Lean, with dark wavy hair that looked like he had been running his hands through it and gray eyes that landed on her immediately. He didn't glance around the theater to take in the space. His attention went to her, to the prompt book, to the neat rows of schedules she had laid out, and something in his expression shifted.
"You must be Sylvie," he said, his voice carrying easily across the empty house. "You're early."
"I like to be prepared," she said, standing. "It's nice to meet you in person, Roman. I've read through your notes on the season. They're thorough."
He came down the remaining steps and extended his hand. She took it. His grip was firm and warm, and he held it a beat longer than a standard handshake before letting go.
"Thorough's the word," he said. "Some people call it obsessive."
"I call it professional."
The corner of his mouth twitched. "I think we're going to work well together."
He moved past her to the table and picked up one of the schedules, scanning it with quick efficiency. She watched him work, noting the way his fingers traced down the columns, the slight furrow between his brows as he focused. He was handsome in a way that felt secondary to his presence. The kind of man who commanded attention without trying.
The door swung open again, and this time the sound was accompanied by a voice.
"Sorry, sorry, I know I'm early but I couldn't find parking and then I realized I left the script in the car so I had to go back and I'm definitely going to be that guy who shows up breathless to everything."
Cassian Dray swept into the theater like he owned it. He was all warm brown skin and expressive dark eyes, dressed in a linen shirt that was probably expensive and definitely wrinkled. He was carrying a script, a coffee cup, and what looked like a bag of pastries, all of which he somehow managed not to drop.
"Cassian," Roman said, and his voice carried a note of fond exasperation. "You're early. That's not like you."
"I wanted to make a good impression on the new stage manager." Cassian set the pastries on the table and turned to Sylvie with a smile that was probably famous among the theater's regular patrons. "Cassian Dray. I play the lead in the first show. Also the second show, if Roman gets his way."
"Don't give away the casting before the meeting," Roman said.
"I'm not giving it away. I'm establishing context." Cassian extended his hand, and Sylvie shook it. His palm was warm, his grip easy and confident. "You're Sylvie. I heard you saved the last production at the Mercury Theater when their lighting board caught fire during previews."
"Someone told that story," Sylvie said, feeling the heat of unexpected attention. "It was mostly just staying calm and calling the right people."
"Mostly just staying calm during a fire," Cassian repeated, his eyes bright with amusement. "That's exactly the kind of person we need around here."
He let go of her hand but stayed close, leaning against the edge of the table with an ease that suggested he was comfortable in any space he occupied. She caught the scent of coffee and something warm, like sandalwood.
The next arrival was quieter. The door opened and closed with barely a sound, and Everett Sloan appeared at the edge of the house, moving with the deliberate calm of someone who worked backstage. He was solidly built, sandy-haired, with steady blue eyes that took in the room with a single sweep before landing on Sylvie.
"You're the stage manager," he said. It wasn't a question.
"Sylvie March. You must be Everett. The technical director."
He nodded and walked over, his footsteps nearly silent on the carpeted aisle. His handshake was brief and firm, his palm callused. "I read your technical rider. The notes on the fly system were detailed. Most people don't bother with that level of specificity."
"I don't like surprises in the rigging."
"Good." He said it like a verdict, and she had the sense she had passed some test.
The four of them stood in a loose cluster around the table, and Sylvie felt the shape of the dynamic already forming. Roman at the center, radiating intensity. Cassian nearby, warm and open, while Everett stood slightly apart, solid and observant. Men who had clearly worked together before, who moved around each other with the ease of long familiarity.
She was the new element. The unknown variable.
She liked that.
The production meeting itself was efficient. Roman laid out the season vision with the kind of clarity that made her want to take notes even though she already had them. Cassian contributed with energy and occasional jokes that made Roman roll his eyes but not quite hide his smile. Everett spoke rarely, but when he did, it was to solve problems before they became problems.
Sylvie found herself watching them more than she probably should have. The way Roman's hand moved when he gestured. How Cassian's laugh filled the room and made the empty theater feel alive. The steadiness of Everett's attention that never seemed to waver.
When the meeting ended and the actors began to arrive for the first read-through, chaos descended. A prop was missing and a costume fitting had been double-booked. The lighting designer had changed the cue list without telling anyone.
Sylvie moved through it like water, redirecting with a calm that spread to everyone around her. She found the prop in the storage room and rebooked the fitting. Then she printed the new cue list and handed it to the lighting designer with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.
"You should tell me when you make changes," she said, her voice even. "That way I can support you instead of chasing you."
The designer apologized. Roman watched from the back of the house.
During the read-through, Sylvie sat at the stage manager's station, following along in her prompt book, marking cues and noting potential issues. Cassian was reading with the full cast, and even in a cold read, his voice carried weight. He was good. She could see why Roman had cast him.
When Cassian delivered a particularly intense monologue, she looked up from her notes and found him watching her. Not the other actors. Her. His eyes met hers across the dim house, and he gave her a small smile before turning back to the page.
She looked down at her notes. Her heart was beating faster than it should have been.
The read-through wrapped as evening settled over the city. The cast dispersed, and Sylvie stayed to organize her notes and reset the room for the next day. She heard footsteps and looked up to find Everett standing at the edge of the stage.
"You handled the lighting designer well," he said. "He's good at his job but bad at communication."
"I noticed."
"He'll respect you for being direct." Everett paused, then added, "I'm doing a walk-through of the technical spaces tomorrow morning if you want to join. Get familiar with the layout before tech week."
"I'll be there."
He nodded and turned to leave, then stopped. "Sylvie. Welcome to the company."
She watched him walk away, his footsteps steady and sure, and something warm settled in her chest.
By the time she finished organizing, the theater was empty except for Roman, who was still sitting in the front row, staring at the empty stage. She gathered her bag and walked toward the aisle.
"You're still here," she said.
"So are you."
"I'm always the last one out on the first day. It's a habit."
Roman stood and turned to face her. In the dim light, his gray eyes caught the glow from the exit signs. "The first day went well. Better than I expected, honestly. You have a way of making chaos look manageable."
"That's the job."
"No." He stepped closer, and she caught the scent of him, something clean and sharp. "That's a skill. Not everyone has it."
He held her gaze for a moment longer than necessary, and she felt the weight of his attention like a physical thing. Then he stepped back and gestured toward the door.
"Walk out with me?"
They left together, and she felt the night air hit her face as they stepped onto the sidewalk. Roman locked the door behind them and stood beside her, close enough that she could feel the warmth radiating from his body.
"See you tomorrow," he said.
"Tomorrow."
She walked to her car and sat in the driver's seat for a long moment before starting the engine. Her skin felt warm. Her mind was replaying moments. The lingering warmth of Cassian's attention during the read-through mixed with Everett's quiet welcome and the weight of Roman's gaze in the darkened theater.
She shook her head and started the car.
This was a job. A good job. A professional opportunity.
But as she drove home through the summer night, she couldn't stop thinking about the way those men had watched her throughout the day, and how much she wanted to be seen by them again.

But as she drove home through the summer night, she couldn't stop thinking about the way those men had watched her throughout the day, and how much she wanted to be seen by them again.
After Curtain
The theater exhaled around them. Sylvie sat on the edge of the stage, her legs dangling over the lip, watching the ghost light cast its single pale circle across the empty house. The tech rehearsal had run long, every cue checked, every light refocused, every sound verified until the notes on her clipboard blurred together in half-legible scribbles.
She could feel the fatigue in her bones, a heavy, pleasant ache that came from a day well spent. The theater was quiet now, save for the hum of the cooling systems and the distant sound of someone moving in the wings. She didn't want to leave. There was something sacred about the space after hours, the way it felt like a cathedral of possibility.
Footsteps approached from behind. She didn't turn. She knew the rhythm of those steps by now. Roman's stride was purposeful, measured. He stopped beside her, close enough that she could feel the warmth radiating from his body.
"You're still here," he said, his voice low and rough with exhaustion.
"So are you." She finally looked up at him. In the dim light, his features were softened, the sharp edges of his directorial intensity smoothed away by fatigue. He looked younger somehow. More approachable.
"Cassian and Everett are packing up the truck. I told them I'd find you." He paused, and she saw him hesitate, a rare thing. "We were thinking of grabbing a drink at my place. Nothing formal. Just winding down."
Sylvie felt her heart skip. She'd been hoping for this, though she hadn't allowed herself to admit it. The past week had been a constant, low hum of awareness whenever one of them was near. Roman's intense gaze during notes sessions. Cassian's warm laugh during breaks. Everett's steady presence during load-ins.
"I don't want to intrude," she said, the words automatic.
"You're not intruding. We want you there." He held out his hand, and after a moment's hesitation, she took it. His palm was warm and calloused, and the contact sent a jolt through her that had nothing to do with the cold theater air.
They found Cassian and Everett by the loading dock, the truck already packed. Cassian was leaning against the wall, his shirt untucked and his hair mussed. Everett was checking the lock on the bay door, his movements precise and methodical even in exhaustion.
When they saw her, both men smiled. Cassian's was wide and genuine. Everett's was smaller, but no less warm.
"You made it," Cassian said, pushing off the wall. "I was worried you'd slip out the fire escape and disappear into the night."
"I considered it," she said, and they laughed.
The walk to Roman's apartment was short, just a few blocks through the quiet downtown streets. The air was cool and damp, carrying the promise of rain. Sylvie walked between Cassian and Everett, with Roman leading the way a few steps ahead. It felt natural, almost inevitable, the way they fell into step together.
Roman's apartment was on the second floor of an old Victorian house, the kind of place that had character and history. The living room was cluttered with books and scripts, a worn leather couch, mismatched chairs. It felt lived-in in a way that was immediately comforting.
While Roman got beers from the kitchen, Cassian settled onto the couch, pulling Sylvie down beside him. Everett took the armchair across from them, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees.
They talked about the show at first. The set changes that needed smoothing out. The lighting cue that was still a half-second late. The usual post-tech chatter. But as the beers loosened their tongues and the fatigue settled deeper into their bones, the conversation shifted.
"You're really good at your job," Cassian said, turning to face her fully. "I've worked with a lot of stage managers. You're different."
Sylvie felt her cheeks warm. "I just do my work."
"No, you don't just do your work," Everett said, his voice quiet but firm. "You anticipate. You're always three steps ahead. You make everyone around you better."
She looked down at her hands, suddenly self-conscious. "I like the control," she admitted. "I like knowing what's coming and being prepared for it."
Roman returned with a fresh round of beers and settled on the floor at her feet, looking up at her. "That's what we've been talking about. The control. The preparation." He paused, and she saw him exchange a glance with the other two. "We've been talking about you."
Her breath caught. "Me?"
"Not in a creepy way," Cassian said quickly. "We just noticed things. The way you look at us. The way you hold yourself. We've been wondering if you feel the same pull we do."
Sylvie's mind raced. She'd been careful. She'd been discreet. But apparently not careful enough. Or maybe they were just that observant. She took a long sip of her beer, buying time.
"I don't know what you mean," she said, but her voice cracked on the last word.
Roman leaned forward, his elbows on his knees. "Sylvie, we're not trying to pressure you. We've been talking about this for a while now, the three of us. We have something special. We've known it for years. But we've been missing something. Someone."
She looked at each of them in turn. Roman's intense gray eyes. Cassian's warm brown ones. Everett's steady blue. They were all watching her with a kind of patient hope that made her chest ache.
"You want me to be with all three of you?" she asked, needing to hear it said plainly.
"If you want that," Everett said. "If you don't, that's fine too. We just needed to say it out loud."
"We've been dancing around it for days," Cassian added. "And we're all too tired to keep pretending."
Sylvie set her beer down. Her hands were shaking slightly. She'd never considered this possibility, not seriously. But now that it was in front of her, it felt right. It felt like the answer to a question she hadn't known she was asking.
"I don't know how this works," she said, her voice small. "I've never..."
"Neither have we," Roman admitted. "Not like this. With someone new. But we're willing to figure it out together."
She took a breath. Then another. The silence stretched, but it wasn't uncomfortable. It was filled with possibility.
"Okay," she said. "I want to try."
The relief that washed over their faces was palpable. Cassian let out a breath he'd been holding. Everett's shoulders relaxed. Roman reached up and gently took her hand.
"We'll go slow," he promised. "As slow as you need."
"I don't know what I need," she admitted. "I just know I want to be close to you."
Cassian shifted beside her, his arm coming around her shoulders. "That's a good start."
Everett stood and moved to sit on her other side, his knee brushing hers. She was surrounded by them, three warm bodies, three different scents. Roman's clean soap. Cassian's faint cologne. Everett's smell of sawdust and sweat.
"Can we touch you?" Roman asked, his voice low. "Nothing more than that. Just touch."
She nodded, not trusting her voice.
Roman's hand found hers again, his thumb tracing circles on her palm. Cassian's hand settled on her shoulder, warm and grounding. Everett's hand rested on her knee, light and questioning.
She closed her eyes, letting herself feel. The weight of their attention. The gentleness of their touch. It was overwhelming and perfect at the same time.
"You're doing so well," Cassian murmured near her ear. "Just breathe."
She did. In and out, slow and steady. Roman's thumb continued its gentle pattern. Cassian's hand moved to stroke her hair. Everett's hand on her knee remained still, a warm anchor.
After a long moment, she opened her eyes. They were all watching her, but not with expectation. With wonder.
"Is this okay?" Roman asked.
"More than okay," she said, and she meant it.
Cassian shifted, turning to face her more fully. "Can I kiss you?"
The question made her breath catch. She looked at Roman, then at Everett. Both nodded, giving their silent permission.
"Yes," she whispered.
Cassian leaned in slowly, giving her every chance to pull away. His lips brushed hers, soft and warm, a question more than a statement. She answered by leaning into it, her hand coming up to cup his jaw.
The kiss deepened, slow and exploratory. She tasted beer and something sweeter underneath. His hand cradled the back of her head, gentle and possessive at once. When he pulled back, his eyes were dark.
"Beautiful," he said.
Then Roman's hand on her chin turned her toward him. He didn't ask. He didn't need to. The question was in his eyes, and she answered by tilting her head. His kiss was different. Slower. More deliberate. He took his time, learning the shape of her mouth, the way she responded to pressure.
When he pulled back, Everett was waiting. He was the most hesitant of the three, and she saw the question in his eyes before he spoke. "Can I?"
She reached for him, pulling him closer. His kiss was gentle, almost shy at first, then firmer as he gained confidence. His hand came up to cup her face, his thumb brushing her cheekbone.
When they all pulled back, she was breathless. Her heart was pounding, but not from fear. From exhilaration.
"How do you feel?" Roman asked.
She considered the question carefully. "Like I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be."
Cassian laughed softly. "That's a good answer."
They stayed like that for a while, wrapped in each other, touching and talking and learning. Sylvie asked questions about their history, about how they'd come together. They told her about the first show they'd worked on together, the years of friendship that had slowly deepened into something more.
"We never thought we'd find someone who fit," Everett said quietly. "Someone who could be the center of what we have."
"I don't know if I can be that," she said honestly. "But I want to try."
"That's all we're asking," Roman said. "That's all we'll ever ask."
When the night grew late and the beers were gone, Sylvie realized she didn't want to leave. She wanted to stay in this warm cocoon of bodies and voices and possibility.
"You can stay," Roman said, as if reading her mind. "The couch is comfortable. Or you can take my bed. I'll sleep out here."
"No," she said, surprising herself. "I mean... I don't want to be alone. Not tonight."
They exchanged glances, a silent conversation she couldn't read. Then Cassian stood and held out his hand. "Come on. We'll figure it out."
She let him lead her to the bedroom, the other two following. The bed was large, covered in rumpled sheets. Roman quickly stripped off his shirt, revealing a lean, muscular chest. Everett followed suit, more hesitantly. Cassian was already bare-chested, his skin warm in the dim light.
Sylvie stood in the center of the room, suddenly shy. Roman approached her slowly, his hands coming to rest on her shoulders.
"We don't have to do anything you're not ready for," he said. "We can just sleep. Or we can touch. Whatever you want."
She looked at each of them, these three men who had somehow become the center of her world in just a week. She wanted to be close to them. She wanted to feel their skin against hers.
"I want to feel you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "All of you."
They undressed her slowly, reverently. Each piece of clothing was removed with care, with permission asked and given. Cassian's fingers found the hem of her shirt first, his eyes seeking hers. She nodded, and he lifted it over her head, his knuckles brushing her ribs as he went. Everett unhooked her bra with practiced ease, sliding the straps down her arms while Roman watched, his breath shallow. When her jeans came off, Cassian knelt before her to slide them down her legs, his hands warm on her calves. She stepped out of the last of her clothing and stood before them naked, exposed but not vulnerable. Protected.
Roman guided her to the bed, laying her down in the center. Cassian climbed in beside her, his body warm against her side. Everett took the other side, his hand resting on her stomach. Roman settled at the foot of the bed, his hands on her ankles.
"We're going to take our time," Roman said. "We're going to learn every inch of you."
And they did. Cassian's lips traced a path down her neck while Everett's hand explored the curve of her ribs. Roman's fingers stroked the inside of her thigh, light and teasing. She closed her eyes, letting herself be carried away by sensation.
Every touch was deliberate, patient. They asked before each new territory, waited for her nod before proceeding. When Cassian's mouth found her breast, she gasped, her hand coming up to tangle in his hair. He circled her nipple with his tongue, slow and wet, then drew it into his mouth, sucking gently. Everett's lips followed suit on her other side, his mouth warmer, more insistent. The dual sensation made her arch off the bed, a moan escaping her lips.
"That's it," Cassian murmured against her skin. "Let us hear you."
Roman's hands moved higher, parting her thighs. She tensed for a moment, and he stopped immediately.
"Too much?" he asked.
"No," she said, her voice breathy. "Just new. Give me a second."
He waited, his hands resting on her thighs, warm and patient. When she relaxed, he began again, his fingers tracing the edges of her most sensitive places without quite touching them. He brushed along the crease where her thigh met her hip, then lower, his fingertips barely grazing the soft skin between her legs. She shivered.
"You're so beautiful like this," Cassian murmured against her breast. "So open."
She felt tears prick at her eyes, not from sadness but from the overwhelming tenderness of the moment. She had never been handled so carefully, so completely.
When Roman's fingers finally found her center, she cried out, a sound that was half pleasure, half relief. He moved slowly, learning her rhythms, her responses. One finger slipped through her wetness, circling the swollen entrance before dipping just inside. She gasped and bucked against him.
"Easy," he said, his voice rough. "I've got you."
Cassian and Everett continued their exploration, their hands and mouths a constant presence. Cassian kissed her deeply, swallowing her sounds, while Everett's hand drifted lower, his fingers joining Roman's. She felt two sets of hands on her now, Roman's fingers sliding deeper inside her while Everett's found the tight bud above, circling with maddening slowness.
"God," she breathed, breaking the kiss. "That's..."
"Good?" Everett asked, his voice low.
"Too good. I can't..."
"You can," Roman said. "Let go."
She felt herself building toward something, a peak she could sense but not yet see. Roman's fingers curled inside her, finding a spot that made her see stars. Everett's fingers circled, pressed, retreated, circled again. Cassian's mouth found her breast again, his teeth grazing her nipple. The combination was devastating.
"I'm going to..." she started, but the words dissolved into a moan.
"We know," Cassian whispered. "We can feel you shaking."
And she was. Her whole body trembled, the pleasure coiling tighter and tighter with each stroke of their fingers. Roman pressed deeper, curling against that spot again, and Everett increased his pace, his fingers moving in tight, relentless circles.
"Come for us," Roman said, his voice low and commanding. "We've got you."
And she did. The release crashed through her, wave after wave of pleasure that left her trembling and gasping. She clenched around Roman's fingers, her hips bucking off the bed, and they held her through every pulse, their bodies a warm cage of safety and desire. Cassian's mouth swallowed her cries while Everett's hand pressed against her, drawing out every last shudder.
When she finally came back to herself, she was crying. Not sobbing, just tears streaming down her cheeks. Cassian wiped them away with his thumb.
"That was..." she started, but couldn't finish.
"I know," Everett said. "We know."
Roman withdrew his fingers slowly, pressing a kiss to her inner thigh. "You're incredible," he said, his voice thick. "Did that feel good?"
"More than good," she managed, her voice hoarse. She reached for him, her hand finding his jaw. "I want to touch you too. All of you."
They exchanged a look, something unspoken passing between them. Then Roman shifted, moving up the bed until he was beside her. She could see the outline of his arousal through his remaining clothing, and she reached for him, her hand finding the hard length of him through the fabric.
He groaned, his head dropping to her shoulder. "Sylvie."
"Can I?" she asked, echoing the question they'd been asking her all night.
"Yes," he said, his voice ragged.
She freed him from his jeans, her hand wrapping around his cock. He was hard and hot in her palm, and she stroked him slowly, learning the shape of him. Cassian moved closer, pressing against her back, and she reached behind her to find him too. He was already bare, his cock sliding against her hip, and she wrapped her fingers around him, feeling him pulse in her hand.
"Jesus," Cassian breathed against her neck.
Everett moved to kneel before her, and she reached for him with her other hand. She was surrounded by them, touching them, feeling them come undone under her fingers. Roman's hips moved against her hand, his breath coming in short gasps. Cassian kissed her neck, his cock sliding through her fist. Everett watched her face, his jaw tight, his eyes dark with desire.
"I want to taste you," she said, surprising herself. But she meant it. She wanted to feel them in her mouth, to give them the same pleasure they'd given her.
"Which one of us?" Roman asked, his voice strained.
"All of you. One at a time."
They shifted to accommodate her, Roman moving to lie on his back while she positioned herself over him. She lowered her head, her tongue tracing the length of him before taking him into her mouth. He groaned, his hand coming to rest on the back of her head, not pushing, just holding.
She moved slowly, taking him deeper with each stroke, her hand wrapped around the base of him. He was thick and hot on her tongue, and she could taste the salt of his arousal. She looked up to find him watching her, his eyes half-closed with pleasure.
"Your mouth," he said, his voice breaking. "God, your mouth."
She worked him with lips and tongue, feeling him grow even harder, his hips starting to move. But before he could finish, she pulled back, turning to Cassian. He was ready, his cock flushed and leaking, and she took him in hand first, stroking him while she caught her breath. Then she leaned forward and swallowed him down.
Cassian's reaction was more vocal. "Fuck, Sylvie, yes. Just like that."
She bobbed her head, taking him deep, then pulled back to swirl her tongue around the head. He tasted different from Roman, slightly sweeter, and she savored the difference. Her hand worked what her mouth couldn't reach, and she felt his thighs trembling under her other hand.
When she turned to Everett, he was the most controlled of the three, but she could see the tension in his jaw. She took him into her mouth, and he let out a shaky breath, his hand coming to her cheek.
"You don't have to," he said, but she silenced him with a stroke of her tongue.
She took her time with him, slow and deliberate, and watched his composure crack. His hips moved, pushing him deeper, and she took him as far as she could, feeling him hit the back of her throat. She swallowed around him, and he groaned, his fingers tightening in her hair.
"I'm close," he warned, and she pulled back, wanting to draw it out.
She returned to Roman, then Cassian, then Everett, taking turns, keeping them on the edge. They were all breathing hard now, their bodies slick with sweat, their eyes dark with need. She felt powerful, desired, in control in a way she'd never felt before.
"I want you inside me," she said, the words coming out before she could second-guess them.
The silence that followed was thick with anticipation.
"Which one of us?" Roman asked, his voice hoarse.
"All of you. One at a time. If that's what you want."
They looked at each other, another silent conversation. Then Roman reached for the nightstand, pulling out a condom. He rolled it on with shaking hands and positioned himself between her legs. She could feel the tip of him pressing against her entrance, and she nodded.
He pushed in slowly, inch by inch, giving her time to adjust. She was wet and swollen from her orgasm, and the stretch was intense but not painful. When he was fully inside her, he paused, his forehead pressed against hers.
"Okay?" he asked.
"More than okay," she said, and wrapped her legs around him.
He started to move, slow and deep, and she could feel every inch of him. Cassian and Everett were on either side of her, their hands on her body, their mouths on her skin. She was filled, surrounded, consumed.
Roman's pace increased, his hips snapping against hers, and she met him thrust for thrust. The pleasure was building again, different this time, deeper. She could feel him getting close, his rhythm becoming erratic.
"Come inside me," she said, and he did, his whole body going rigid as he spilled into the condom. She felt him pulsing inside her, and it was enough to push her over the edge again, her second orgasm crashing through her.
When he pulled out, Cassian took his place. He was gentler, slower, taking his time. He kissed her deeply as he entered her, his tongue mimicking the rhythm of his hips. She could taste herself on his lips, and the intimacy of it made her gasp.
"You feel so good," he said against her mouth. "So tight. So wet."
He reached between them, his fingers finding her clit, and she cried out, oversensitive from her previous orgasms. He stroked her in time with his thrusts, and she felt herself building again, impossibly.
"I can't," she said, but her body contradicted her, her hips moving against him.
"You can," he said. "One more."
She came again, harder this time, and he followed her over the edge, his groan muffled against her neck.
Everett was last. He was the most careful, the most deliberate. He entered her slowly, watching her face for any sign of discomfort. She pulled him down to her, kissing him, tasting Roman and Cassian on her lips, and he groaned into her mouth.
His pace was maddening, slow and deep, and she could feel every inch of him. He reached between them, his fingers finding her, and she whimpered, so sensitive she thought she might shatter.
"Too much?" he asked, echoing Roman's earlier question.
"Don't stop," she said. "Please don't stop."
He didn't. He moved faster, his fingers working her, and she felt the pleasure building one last time. When she came, it was with a sob, the release so intense it was almost painful. He followed her, his face pressed against her shoulder, his body shaking.
They lay tangled together, breathing hard, sweat cooling on their skin. Sylvie couldn't move, couldn't speak. She was completely spent, completely satisfied, completely theirs.
Roman pulled the sheet up over her, tucking it around her shoulders. "Sleep," he said. "We'll be here when you wake up."
She curled into the warmth of Cassian's chest, feeling Everett's arm wrap around her from behind, Roman's hand resting on her hip. She was surrounded, held, cherished.
As sleep pulled her under, she smiled. This was just the beginning. And she couldn't wait to see what came next.
Rehearsal Heat
The agreement settled into Sylvie's bones like a second heartbeat. Days had passed since that night in Roman's living room, and the memory still hummed beneath her skin during rehearsals, during cues, during quiet moments backstage. She caught herself watching them differently now. Roman's hand hovering near her elbow when he gave notes made her breath catch. Cassian's eyes finding hers across the stage during scene changes sent heat pooling low in her belly. Everett lingering a breath too long when he handed her a clipboard made her pulse skip.
Something had shifted. The air between them all felt charged, waiting.
On Thursday afternoon, Roman found her in the wings during a break. The cast had scattered for lunch, and the theater sat empty except for the ghost light casting its single pale circle on the stage. He stood close enough that she could smell his cologne, sandalwood and something sharp.
"Stay after tonight," he said. Not a question.
Sylvie's pulse quickened. "The others?"
"They'll be here." His gray eyes held hers. "We all want this, Sylvie. But we want you to be sure."
"I'm sure." The words came out steadier than she expected.
He nodded once, then brushed his thumb across her lower lip before walking away.
The rest of the afternoon crawled. Sylvie ran through her cues automatically, her body on autopilot while her mind spun through possibilities. She had never done anything like this. Never imagined being the center of three men's attention, three men who knew each other, trusted each other, and wanted to share her.
After the final run, the cast filtered out. The theater grew quiet as the last few people gathered their things and left. The old building felt different at night, hollow and intimate, every creak amplified by silence.
She found them on the stage. Roman sat on the edge of the platform, legs dangling. Cassian leaned against the proscenium arch, arms crossed. Everett stood near the lighting board, his silhouette outlined by the dim glow of the control panel.
"Come here," Roman said.
Sylvie walked up the side steps onto the stage. The boards creaked under her feet. She stopped in front of them, feeling exposed under the single work light.
Cassian pushed off from the arch and circled behind her. His hands landed on her shoulders, warm and grounding. "You're nervous."
"A little."
"That's okay." His thumbs traced circles on her shoulder blades. "We've got you."
Everett stepped forward, his steady blue eyes meeting hers. "We talked about how to do this. What you might need." He glanced at Roman, then back at her. "Tonight's about you. Whatever that looks like."
Roman stood and walked toward her. He stopped inches away, close enough that she had to tilt her head back to meet his gaze. "Tell me what you want, Sylvie."
Her throat tightened. She had spent years anticipating other people's needs, solving problems before they arose, staying invisible. Being asked what she wanted felt foreign, almost dangerous.
"I want to trust you," she said finally. "All of you."
Cassian's hands tightened on her shoulders. Everett let out a slow breath. Roman's expression softened into something almost tender.
"Then trust us," Roman said. He reached out and undid the elastic band holding her hair back. The auburn waves fell around her face. "You don't have to hide anymore."
Cassian's lips brushed her ear. "Let us take care of you."
Everett moved closer, his solid presence at her side. "Just tell us if anything feels wrong. We stop whenever you need to."
Sylvie nodded, her heart hammering.
Roman kissed her first. His mouth was firm, commanding, his hand sliding into her hair to tilt her head exactly where he wanted. She melted into him, her hands gripping his shirt. The scratch of fabric against her palms grounded her even as his tongue swept into her mouth, claiming her. He kissed her like he directed, with absolute control and no apology. When he pulled back, Cassian was already there, turning her face toward him.
Cassian's kiss was different. Slower, teasing, his lips soft and insistent. He tasted like coffee and something sweet. His tongue traced her lower lip before he deepened the kiss, and Sylvie's knees went weak. He took his time, exploring her mouth with a patience that made her ache, his teeth grazing her bottom lip before soothing the sting with another kiss.
Everett's hand found her waist, steadying her. When Cassian released her, Everett turned her gently to face him. His kiss was deliberate, unhurried, his hands cupping her face like she was something precious. He kissed her until her breathing slowed, until she felt anchored. His thumbs stroked her cheekbones, and the tenderness in it made her chest tight.
Roman's voice cut through the haze. "On your knees, Sylvie."
She dropped without thinking, the stage floor hard beneath her. The position felt natural, surrendering. Roman stood in front of her, his hands on his belt.
"You want this?" he asked.
"Yes."
He unzipped his pants and freed himself. Sylvie's mouth went dry. He was thick, already hard, the tip glistening in the dim light. He stroked himself once, then guided her head forward.
"Open."
She obeyed. The taste of him hit her tongue, salt and heat and want. She took him as deep as she could, her hands gripping his thighs for balance. Roman groaned, his fingers tightening in her hair.
"That's it," he breathed. "Look at you. Fucking perfect."
Behind her, Cassian's hands found the hem of her shirt. He pulled it over her head, then unhooked her bra. His palms slid over her breasts, thumbs grazing her nipples until she gasped around Roman. Cassian pinched gently, rolling the stiffened peaks between his fingers while his mouth pressed hot kisses to the back of her neck. The dual sensation made her moan, the vibration traveling through Roman's cock.
Everett knelt beside her, his mouth at her ear. "You're doing well. Let go. We've got you." His hand joined Cassian's, one broad palm cupping her breast while Cassian's fingers worked the other. Sylvie's back arched, pushing into their hands.
Roman's hips thrust gently, guiding her rhythm. She took him deeper, her throat relaxing as she surrendered to the sensation. His cock slid over her tongue, thick and hot, and she swallowed around him, eliciting a broken sound from his throat.
"Fuck, your mouth," Roman said, his voice rough. "Take me deeper."
She did. She relaxed her jaw and let him sink into her throat, her nose pressed against the coarse hair at his base. His grip in her hair tightened, holding her there for a moment before pulling back. Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes. She blinked them away and looked up at him.
Roman's jaw was tight, his eyes dark. "Again."
She took him back into her throat, setting a rhythm that made his breathing ragged. Cassian's hands kept moving across her body, teasing her nipples, stroking her ribs, trailing down her stomach. His fingers found the button of her pants and undid it, sliding beneath the waistband of her underwear.
"You're soaked," Cassian murmured against her ear. His fingers slipped through her wetness, parting her folds, finding her entrance. He circled her clit with one fingertip while his other hand continued to play with her breast. "She's dripping, Everett."
Everett's breath hitched. He leaned down and took her nipple into his mouth, his tongue swirling around the peaked flesh before sucking hard. Sylvie whimpered around Roman's cock, overwhelmed by the sensation of being touched everywhere.
"Enough," Roman said finally. He pulled out, his breath ragged. "I need to be inside you."
Everett helped her stand, his hands steady on her arms. Cassian stripped off her pants and underwear, his fingers trailing down her thighs. She stood naked between them, the cool air raising goosebumps on her skin. The three of them looked at her, and the hunger in their eyes made her feel powerful and vulnerable at once.
Roman guided her to the edge of the stage. "Lie back."
She stretched out on the worn boards, the wood rough against her bare back. Cassian positioned himself at her head, his thighs bracketing her shoulders. He stroked her hair, his dark eyes soft.
"You're beautiful like this," he said. "Open. Trusting."
Everett knelt between her legs, his broad hands spreading her thighs. He looked up at her, his blue eyes dark with want. "Tell me what you need."
"I need you," she whispered. "All of you."
He lowered his head and licked her. The first touch of his tongue sent a jolt through her body. He was methodical, unhurried, his tongue tracing every fold before focusing on her clit. He flattened his tongue and dragged it through her slick heat, tasting her, before circling the swollen bud with maddening precision. Sylvie arched into his mouth, her fingers tangling in Cassian's hair.
Roman knelt beside her, his hand wrapping around his cock, stroking slowly. "You're so wet for him. I can hear it. Can hear how much you want this."
Cassian leaned down and kissed her, deep and slow. She tasted herself on Everett's tongue, musky and intimate, and it made her burn. "Taste yourself," Cassian murmured against her lips. "Taste how sweet you are."
Everett's rhythm quickened. He slid two fingers inside her, curling them upward to find the spot that made her gasp, while his mouth worked her clit in tight circles. His tongue flicked rapidly, then slowed, then flicked again, keeping her on edge. Sylvie's hips rocked against his face, chasing the sensation.
"Don't stop," she begged. "Please, don't stop."
Everett hummed against her, the vibration pushing her closer. His fingers fucked her in a steady rhythm, each stroke pressing against that spot inside her that made stars burst behind her eyes. The orgasm built fast, sharp, coiling tight in her belly before cresting as she shattered against his mouth.
"That's it," Roman said, his voice rough. "Come for us. Let go."
She came with a sob, her body trembling, her thighs clamping around Everett's head. He worked her through it, his tongue gentling as the waves rolled through her, lapping at her until the aftershocks subsided. He pressed a soft kiss to her inner thigh, then rose up and kissed her thigh again, higher, before meeting her lips.
The taste of herself on his mouth was obscene and perfect.
Roman positioned himself between her legs. "Look at me."
Sylvie met his gray eyes. He pushed into her slowly, inch by inch, stretching her until she gasped. He was thicker than his fingers had prepared her for, and the fullness made her eyes water. He waited, letting her adjust, his jaw tight with restraint. His thumb stroked her hip bone.
"Move," she breathed.
He did. His thrusts were deep and steady, each one driving her further into the stage floor. The wet sound of their bodies meeting filled the theater, obscene in the quiet space. Cassian took her hand, pressing kisses to her palm, her wrist, the inside of her elbow. Everett leaned over her, his mouth on her neck, his teeth grazing her pulse point before his hand slid between her legs to circle her clit.
"You feel incredible," Roman said, his voice strained. "Tight and wet and mine."
She whimpered, her body responding to his words as much as his touch. Everett's fingers on her clit made her clench around Roman, drawing a groan from his throat.
"You're ours," Roman said, his voice breaking. "Say it."
"I'm yours." The words tumbled out. "I'm yours. All of yours."
Roman's rhythm faltered, his thrusts growing harder, more urgent. He braced himself above her, his arms trembling, his gray eyes fixed on her face. When he came, he buried himself deep and groaned her name, his body shuddering above her. She felt him pulse inside her, hot and thick, and the sensation pushed her toward the edge again.
He stayed inside her for a moment, then pulled out and collapsed beside her, breathing hard. His hand found hers and squeezed.
Cassian took his place. He entered her slowly, his rhythm different from Roman's. Softer, deeper, each thrust a question. Sylvie wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him closer. He felt different inside her, longer where Roman had been thick, and the new angle made her gasp.
"You feel good," he whispered. "Fucking incredible. So wet. So tight."
Everett kissed her, his tongue sliding against hers. "You're doing well. Let him take you."
Cassian's hand found her clit, pressing in rhythm with his thrusts. He moved with a dancer's grace, rolling his hips in a way that hit every sensitive spot inside her. The second orgasm built faster, her body still sensitive from the first. She could feel Roman's release leaking out of her, slicking Cassian's cock as he moved, and the wetness made her cheeks burn.
"I'm close," she gasped.
"I know," Cassian said. "I can feel you tightening around me. Come for me, Sylvie. Come on my cock."
She came with a cry, her inner walls clenching around him in rhythmic pulses. Cassian followed moments later, his face buried in her neck, his breath hot against her skin as he spilled inside her. He stayed there, trembling, before pressing a kiss to her shoulder.
When he pulled out, Everett was there. He lifted her hips gently, positioning her on her hands and knees. His hand stroked her back, calming her, before his fingers traced down her spine and cupped her ass.
"Last one," he said. "You can take it."
He entered her from behind, slow and deliberate. She was slick with Roman and Cassian's release, and the wetness made each thrust smooth and easy. His hands gripped her hips, steadying her as he built a rhythm. The angle was different, deeper, and she felt him in places the others hadn't reached.
Roman knelt in front of her, his hand cupping her chin. "Look at me. You're ours, Sylvie. All of ours."
She looked up at him, her lips parted, her breathing ragged. Roman leaned down and kissed her, his tongue sliding into her mouth. Cassian moved beside them, his hand stroking her back, his lips pressing kisses to her shoulder.
Everett's thrusts deepened. He reached around and found her clit, his fingers working in tight circles. His other hand gripped her hip hard enough to leave marks. "You're taking me so well. So good for us."
Sylvie's third orgasm rolled through her like a wave, pulling her under. She heard herself moaning, felt Everett's release hot inside her, felt Roman's lips on her forehead. Her arms gave out and she collapsed against the stage floor, Everett following her down, his chest pressed against her back as he rode out the last of his release.
Then stillness.
They lay tangled on the stage, the ghost light their only witness. Cassian's arm draped over her waist. Everett's hand rested on her hip. Roman's lips pressed against her hair.
"You're ours," Roman said again, softer this time. "And we're yours."
Sylvie closed her eyes, feeling the weight of them around her, the warmth of their bodies, the steady rhythm of their breathing. She had never felt seen like this. Wanted like this. Held like this.
And for the first time, she believed she deserved it.
Cue for Jealousy
The standing ovation rolled through the house like thunder, and Sylvie pressed her headset tighter against her ear, listening for cues that no longer came. The show was over. The curtain had fallen. And for the first time in weeks, she didn't know what came next.
Backstage became a blur of costume racks and congratulatory hugs. Cassian found her first, still in his character shirt, sweat glistening at his temples. He pulled her into a hard embrace, his mouth brushing her ear.
"You were perfect," he said. "We were all perfect because of you."
She laughed against his shoulder. "I just pressed buttons."
"You held us together." He kissed her cheek, then slipped away to greet the cast flooding in from the wings.
Roman appeared moments later, his director's composure cracking into something softer. He didn't speak. He just took her hand and squeezed it, his gray eyes holding hers with an intensity that made her breath catch. Then he released her and moved to shake hands with the producers.
Everett was the last to reach her. He stood at the edge of the backstage chaos, watching her with that steady blue gaze. When she caught his eye, he gave her a small nod. A private acknowledgment. She nodded back.
The after-party was at a bar called The Green Room, a place that smelled like old wood and spilled beer and ambition. Sylvie had been there before, but never as someone who belonged to anything. Now she walked in with three men who orbited her like planets around a sun, and she felt the weight of every eye in the room.
Cassian was swallowed first. A cluster of actors from another production pulled him into their circle, laughing at something he said, their hands touching his arm, his shoulder, his chest. Sylvie watched him become the performer, the charmer, the man everyone wanted to be near. She knew it was his nature. She knew he didn't mean anything by it. But something cold settled in her stomach anyway.
Roman stayed close to her side for the first hour, his hand resting on the small of her back whenever someone approached. He introduced her to donors and board members, his voice warm and proprietary. "This is Sylvie March," he said each time. "Our stage manager. We wouldn't have made it through tech without her."
She smiled and shook hands and said the right things. But she felt the way Roman's grip tightened whenever a man lingered too long in her space. She felt the way his jaw set when a young actor complimented her hair. She felt the heat of his possessiveness, and it thrilled her and frightened her in equal measure.
Everett found a corner near the bar, nursing a beer and watching the crowd with the same focus he gave a lighting plot. Sylvie made her way to him when Roman got pulled into a conversation with a critic.
"You look like you're planning an escape route," she said.
He smiled, a small thing. "I'm always planning an escape route. It's the tech in me."
"Can I hide with you?"
"You don't have to hide." He shifted, making room for her. "But you're welcome to stay."
She leaned against the wall beside him, close enough that their shoulders brushed. For a moment, it was almost peaceful. Then she saw Cassian across the room, his arm around a woman she didn't recognize, his head tilted back in laughter. The woman's hand rested on his chest, and Sylvie felt the cold thing in her stomach turn to ice.
"He's just being friendly," Everett said quietly.
"I know."
"But it doesn't feel that way."
She looked at him. "How do you know what it feels like?"
"Because I'm watching Roman watch you talk to that critic."
She followed his gaze. Roman stood rigid, his drink untouched, his eyes fixed on her with an intensity that bordered on anger. He wasn't watching the critic. He was watching the critic's hand on her arm.
"Shit," she breathed.
"Yeah." Everett finished his beer. "I think we need to talk."
They found a private booth in the back, away from the noise and the bodies. Sylvie slid in first, and Roman sat beside her, his thigh pressed against hers. Cassian took the opposite seat, and Everett stood at the end, blocking the booth from view.
"So," Cassian said, his voice light but his eyes careful. "That was interesting."
"Which part?" Roman's voice was clipped. "The part where you let that actress hang all over you, or the part where I wanted to throw that critic through a window?"
Cassian's smile faded. "I wasn't 'letting' anyone do anything. I was being polite. It's called networking."
"It looked like more than networking from here."
"And it looked like you were about to start a fight over a handshake."
"Enough." Sylvie's voice cut through the tension. She didn't raise it, but both men fell silent. "We're not doing this here."
Everett moved closer. "She's right. Let's take this somewhere private."
Roman's apartment was close. They walked in silence, the night air cool against Sylvie's heated skin. She felt the distance between them like a physical thing, a crack in the foundation they had built. She didn't know how to fix it. She didn't know if she could.
The apartment was modern and sparse, all clean lines and neutral colors. Sylvie sat on the leather couch, and the three men arranged themselves around her like a protective circle. Roman stood by the window. Cassian sat in an armchair. Everett took the spot beside her on the couch.
"I'm sorry," Cassian said first. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
Roman turned from the window. "It's not just about you. It's about all of us. I saw the way people looked at you tonight, Sylvie. I saw the way they watched you. And I wanted to..." He stopped, his hands clenching at his sides.
"You wanted to what?" she asked softly.
"I wanted to tell them all to back off. That you're mine." He said it like a confession, like a wound. "I know that's not fair. I know you're not mine. You're ours. But I can't help how I feel."
Sylvie's heart ached. "Roman."
"I know." He ran a hand through his hair. "I know. I'm working on it."
Cassian leaned forward, his elbows on his knees. "I felt it too. When that producer kept touching your arm. I wanted to pull you away and tell him to find his own stage manager." He let out a breath. "I guess I'm not as easygoing as I thought."
Everett spoke quietly. "I felt it when Roman got all the attention. When everyone wanted to talk to the director, and I was just the guy who fixed the lights." He paused. "I know that's petty. I know I matter to you. But for a second, I forgot."
Sylvie looked at each of them in turn. Three men, three different kinds of jealousy, all rooted in the same fear. The fear of being replaced. The fear of not being enough.
"I'm not going anywhere," she said. "I chose you. All of you. And I don't want to be owned by one person. I want to be loved by three." She reached for Roman's hand, then Cassian's, then Everett's. "But we have to be honest. We have to talk about this stuff before it eats us alive."
Roman sat down on the coffee table in front of her, his knees brushing hers. "I don't know how to do this. I've never done this before. I've never wanted to share anything in my life." He cupped her face in his hands. "But I want to share you. I want to learn how."
Cassian moved to kneel beside them. "I'll be more careful. I'll check in before I get lost in the crowd."
Everett's hand found her back, warm and steady. "And I'll remind myself that I'm not invisible. That you see me."
Sylvie let out a shaky breath. "I see all of you. I need you to see each other too."
The silence that followed was different. It was full instead of empty, heavy with understanding instead of resentment. Roman leaned in and kissed her, soft and searching. When he pulled back, Cassian was there, his lips warm and his hand gentle on her jaw. Then Everett, his kiss slow and deliberate, a promise.
"I think we need to reaffirm something," Roman said, his voice low. "Together."
Sylvie nodded. She knew what he meant. They needed to rebuild what had cracked, to fill the space between them with something stronger than jealousy.
Cassian stood and offered her his hand. "Bedroom?"
She took it. "Bedroom."
The bedroom was sparse too, just a bed and a dresser and soft light from a single lamp. Sylvie stood at the foot of the bed, and the three men arranged themselves around her again, but this time there was no distance. Roman stood behind her, his hands on her hips. Cassian faced her, his chest rising and falling. Everett stood to the side, his eyes warm.
Roman's fingers found the zipper of her dress. "Let us take care of you."
She let him. She let them all undress her slowly, layer by layer, until she stood bare in the soft light, and they surrounded her. Roman undressed behind her. Cassian undressed with slow, deliberate movements. Everett unbuttoned his shirt, his eyes never leaving hers.
When they were all bare, when their hands found her skin, Sylvie felt the shift. It was different from before. This was not discovery. This was repair. And in the quiet, in the soft light, they moved together, moved toward understanding.
Roman laid her on the bed, and the others followed. Sylvie was the center, their hands and mouths tracing paths across her skin like a script only they could read. Roman's lips found the curve of her neck, his tongue tracing the pulse point beneath her ear. Cassian's mouth found her throat, her collarbone, her breasts, his tongue tracing a path that made her arch into him. Everett's hands found her hips, her thighs, sliding slowly inward until she trembled.
Roman watched from the foot of the bed, his eyes dark with hunger, and then he was there too, his hands joining the others, his mouth claiming hers. The world narrowed to the size of their bodies, their touch, their breath.
Cassian's mouth closed over her nipple, his tongue circling, teasing, drawing a moan from her that Roman swallowed with another kiss. Everett's fingers traced the inside of her thigh, higher, higher, until he found the wet heat of her and groaned against her hip.
"You're so ready," Everett whispered, his voice rough. "You're always so ready for us."
She couldn't answer. Roman's mouth was on hers, and Cassian was moving lower, his tongue tracing a line down her stomach, and Everett's fingers were inside her, curling, pressing, finding the spot that made her cry out.
She came apart in pieces, one man's mouth on hers, one man's mouth between her legs, one man's fingers inside her. The orgasm hit her like a standing ovation, thunder rolling through her body, and she heard her own voice crying out, muffled against Roman's lips.
When she caught her breath, she reached for them. For Cassian first, pulling him up, wrapping her hand around his cock, feeling him pulse against her palm. He groaned and pushed into her grip, his eyes closing. She stroked him slowly, then faster, watching his face contort with pleasure.
Then Everett, her other hand finding him, feeling his weight, his heat. He shuddered at her touch, his breath catching. She stroked them both, in tandem, while Roman watched, his own hand working himself, his eyes never leaving her face.
"I need you inside me," she said. "All of you."
Roman moved first, positioning himself between her legs, his cock pressing against her entrance. He paused, his eyes finding hers, asking permission. She nodded, and he pushed inside, filling her slowly, inch by inch, until she felt she might break from the fullness of it.
Cassian knelt beside her, his cock in her hand, and she turned her head to take him in her mouth. He groaned, his hand tangling in her hair, his hips moving in time with Roman's thrusts. Everett watched, his own hand working himself, his blue eyes dark with desire.
They moved together, finding a rhythm, a shared language. Roman inside her, deep and slow. Cassian in her mouth, his breath coming in ragged gasps. Everett's hands on her breasts, his fingers teasing her nipples, his mouth on her shoulder, her neck.
She felt another orgasm building, a slow heat that spread from where Roman moved inside her to the tips of her fingers. She moaned around Cassian's cock, and he swore, his grip tightening in her hair.
"I'm close," he said, his voice strained.
"Not yet," Roman said, his voice a command. "Together."
They shifted, rearranged. Roman pulled out, and Cassian took his place, sliding inside her with one smooth thrust that made her cry out. Everett moved to her other side, and she took him in her mouth while Roman watched, stroking himself, his eyes burning.
Cassian moved faster, harder, his hands gripping her hips. "I can't... I need..."
"Wait," she said, and he stilled, trembling. "I want all of you."
She reached for Roman, pulling him closer. She reached for Everett, guiding him where she wanted him. They understood. They always understood.
She felt them rearrange again, felt the cool gel on Everett's fingers as he prepared her, felt Roman's mouth on her breast, felt Cassian still inside her, waiting. And then Everett was there, pressing against her, pushing slowly inside, and she was so full, so impossibly full, and the sensation was overwhelming, consuming, everything.
They moved together, a choreography of bodies, of breath, of need. Roman's mouth on hers, swallowing her cries. Cassian inside her, his rhythm steady and deep. Everett behind her, his hands on her hips, his mouth on her neck, his whispers in her ear.
"You're ours," he said. "You're ours. You're ours."
And she believed it. She felt it. Not owned. Not possessed. Chosen. Chosen by three men who saw her, who needed her, who loved her in their own ways.
The orgasm came from nowhere and everywhere, crashing through her like a wave, and she heard herself screaming, felt them following her over the edge, Cassian first, then Everett, then Roman, their voices mingling with hers in the soft light.
They collapsed together, a tangle of limbs and breath and sweat. Sylvie lay in the center, her men around her, their hands still touching her, still holding her. She felt their heartbeats slowing, their breath evening out.
"I'm not going anywhere," she said again, her voice barely a whisper.
Roman kissed her shoulder. "I know."
Cassian nuzzled her neck. "I know."
Everett's hand found hers in the dark. "I know."
And in the quiet, in the soft light, she believed them.
Tech Week Pressure
The theater became a pressure cooker. Sylvie had known tech week would be brutal, but she hadn't anticipated how the constant proximity would strip away every pretense of professionalism between them.
By Wednesday, she'd stopped pretending to sleep. The cot in her office had become her primary bed, and the smell of coffee and adrenaline was permanently lodged in her sinuses. Roman worked beside her through the nights, his director's notebook covered in increasingly frantic scribbles. Cassian ran lines in the wings, his voice hoarse from projection. Everett climbed the catwalks with wrenches and focus charts, his hands perpetually smudged with dust.
They were all fraying at the edges.
Sylvie stood at the tech table, headset pressed to her ear, watching the lighting designer argue with Everett about a cue sequence. Roman stood beside her, his shoulder brushing hers every time he leaned forward to look at the stage. Each point of contact burned through her like a brand.
"Can we run that again?" Roman asked, his voice tight.
Everett's voice crackled through her headset. "We've run it four times, Roman. The lights are right. Move on."
"I want it clean."
"It is clean."
Sylvie touched Roman's arm. "Let's move to the next cue. We can come back during notes."
He looked at her, and she saw the exhaustion in his eyes. The intensity. The hunger that had nothing to do with theater.
"Fine," he said. "Next cue."
His gaze stayed on her for the rest of the run. When Cassian passed her in the backstage hallway, his hand brushed her hip. When Everett handed her a fresh cup of coffee, his fingers lingered against hers.
The tension built like a storm.
By Friday night, they were all running on fumes. The dress rehearsal had been a disaster. A set piece had jammed. A costume had ripped. Cassian had missed an entrance because the stage manager's call had been garbled by the headset feedback.
Sylvie stood in the green room, her hands shaking from caffeine and exhaustion. The others were scattered around the theater, but she knew they'd find her eventually. They always did.
Roman came first. He slipped through the door and crossed to her without a word. His hands cupped her face, and he kissed her forehead, her eyelids, the corners of her mouth. Not quite her lips. Just a slow, reverent exploration of her tired features.
"You're exhausted," he murmured.
"So are you."
"I know." He pressed his lips to her temple. "I can't stop thinking about you. Even when I should be thinking about the goddamn set pieces."
She laughed, a broken sound. "Same."
Cassian appeared in the doorway, followed by Everett. They moved into the room like they belonged there, because they did. Because this was theirs now, this strange constellation of four people who had somehow become inseparable.
Everett closed the door. "The theater's empty. Security doesn't come through until six."
"Good," Cassian said. He crossed to Sylvie and took her hand, pulling her gently away from Roman. "You're shaking."
"Caffeine."
"You're exhausted." He echoed Roman's words, but his tone was different. Softer. More vulnerable. "We all are."
Sylvie looked at the three of them. Roman with his intensity barely contained. Cassian with his warmth flickering beneath the fatigue. Everett with his steady gaze that saw everything.
"I don't know how to do this," she said. "Be with all of you and still do my job."
"Nobody's asking you to choose," Everett said. "We're all in the same boat."
"But it's harder now. The tech stuff, the pressure..." She trailed off. "I feel like I'm going to crack."
Cassian stepped closer. "Then crack. We'll catch you."
She didn't know who moved first. Maybe all of them. But suddenly she was surrounded, arms wrapping around her from every direction. Roman's chest against her back. Cassian's face buried in her hair. Everett's hands on her waist.
They stood like that for a long moment, breathing together.
"I'm scared," Sylvie whispered. "Not of this. Of losing it. Of messing this up because I'm too tired to think straight."
"You won't," Roman said against her ear. "We won't let you."
Everett's hands slid up her sides. "We need this. All of us. The connection keeps us grounded."
Cassian pulled back slightly, his eyes searching hers. "Can we take you somewhere? Just for a little while?"
She knew what he was asking. She wanted it desperately.
"Yes."
They moved through the dark theater like ghosts. Everett led them to the sound booth, a small room at the back of the house where the mixing board glowed with tiny lights. He locked the door behind them.
The space was cramped. Intimate. The padded bench along the back wall was barely wide enough for two, but they made it work.
Sylvie sat down, and the three of them arranged themselves around her. Roman to her left, Cassian to her right, Everett crouching in front of her.
"We don't have to do anything," Everett said. "We can just sit here until we have to go back."
"No." Sylvie reached for him, pulling him up onto the bench. "I want this. I want you. All of you."
Roman's hand found her thigh. "Tell us what you need."
She thought about it. About the exhaustion that made everything feel raw and exposed. About the hunger that had been building all week.
"I need to feel something that isn't work," she said. "I need to feel wanted."
Cassian's laugh was soft. "That's easy."
He kissed her first. Slow and deep, his tongue sliding against hers. She melted into him, her hands finding his shoulders. Roman's fingers traced up her arm, and Everett's hand settled on her knee.
They undressed her with careful hands. Not rushed. Methodical. Each piece of clothing removed like a ritual. Her blouse first, buttons undone one by one while Cassian's mouth worked along her jaw. Then her bra, Everett's fingers unhooking it at the back while Roman's hands slid the straps down her arms. Her jeans came last, peeled away while three sets of hands guided the fabric down her thighs. When she was bare, she felt the air on her skin, and she shivered.
"Beautiful," Roman breathed.
Cassian kissed her neck, her collarbone, the swell of her breasts. His mouth was warm and soft, and she arched into him. Everett's hands worked their way up her thighs, parting them gently.
"Can I taste you?" Everett asked.
"Yes."
He lowered himself between her legs, and she felt his breath against her most sensitive skin. His tongue was slow at first. Teasing. He traced along her folds with deliberate patience, learning her shape, tasting her. Then deeper, more insistent, as he found a rhythm that made her gasp. His mouth closed around her clit, sucking gently while his tongue circled and flicked.
Roman took her mouth while Cassian worked her nipples with his fingers, rolling and pinching just hard enough to make her whimper. She was surrounded by them, lost in them. The exhaustion faded, replaced by a desperate, consuming need.
Everett's tongue pushed inside her, and she cried out against Roman's mouth. He didn't stop. He kept going, relentless, his mouth and tongue working her with expert precision until she was trembling on the edge.
"Not yet," Everett murmured against her. "Wait for us."
She nodded, barely able to form words.
Roman guided her onto her hands and knees on the bench. Cassian moved behind her, his hands on her hips. Everett positioned himself in front of her, his cock hard and ready.
"Tell us what you want," Roman said.
"Both of you. Please."
Cassian entered her first, slow and deep. She felt every inch of him, stretching her, filling her. He paused when he was fully seated, letting her adjust to the fullness. Everett guided himself into her mouth, and she took him as far as she could, her tongue tracing the underside of his shaft.
They moved together, finding a rhythm that worked. Cassian thrust into her from behind, each stroke hitting deeper than the last, while she worked Everett with her mouth and hands. Roman watched, his hand stroking himself, his eyes fixed on her face.
"You're so beautiful like this," Roman said. "So perfect."
Cassian's pace quickened. His hands gripped her hips harder, his thumbs digging into the soft flesh of her ass. She felt him losing control, his thrusts becoming erratic, desperate. Everett's fingers tangled in her hair, guiding her rhythm as she took him deeper, swallowing around him.
She could feel Cassian's cock pulsing inside her, could feel the tension building in his thighs where they pressed against hers. Everett's breathing grew ragged, his grip tightening. Roman moved closer, his hand joining Cassian's on her hip, his thumb finding her clit and circling it in tight, firm strokes.
"Almost there," Cassian groaned.
"Together," Everett said. "Wait for her."
But Sylvie was already close. The exhaustion, the tension, the week of constant proximity had built something inside her that was ready to break. Roman's thumb on her clit pushed her over the edge.
"I'm going to come," she gasped around Everett's cock.
"Yes," Roman said. "Let go. We've got you."
She came apart. The orgasm ripped through her in waves, her walls clenching around Cassian, her whole body shuddering. She felt Cassian follow, his body shuddering against hers as he spilled inside her, his groan filling the small room. Everett pulled out and stroked himself twice more before spilling across her breasts, his breath ragged, his hand braced against the wall.
Roman came last, his own hand working himself to completion as he watched her fall apart, his release painting her lower back in warm streaks.
They collapsed together on the narrow bench, a tangle of limbs and sweat and aftershocks. No one spoke for a long time. The only sounds were their ragged breathing and the distant hum of the theater's ventilation system.
Then Cassian laughed, a low, broken sound. "I think that was exactly what we needed."
Sylvie felt tears prick her eyes. Not from sadness. From the overwhelming relief of being held, of being wanted, of being allowed to fall apart and have three pairs of hands catch her.
"I love you," she whispered. "All of you."
The words hung in the air, raw and unguarded.
Roman's arms tightened around her. "I love you too."
"Same," Cassian said.
Everett pressed a kiss to her shoulder. "Forever."
They lay there as the first light of dawn crept through the sound booth's tiny window. The tech week pressure would resume in a few hours. The show would go on.
But for now, there was only this. Four people, tangled together, holding on to each other in the dark.
Opening Night Discretion
The house lights dimmed, and the murmur of two hundred voices fell to a hush. Sylvie stood in the wings, headset around her neck, clipboard pressed against her chest like armor. Her palms were dry. That was new. Six weeks ago she would have been sweating through her blacks, running cue lists through her mind on a loop. Tonight she felt something else entirely.
She felt watched.
Not by the audience, though they were out there in their pressed shirts and programs. Not by the cast, though they were in their places, holding breaths she could feel through the floorboards. She felt watched by the entire theater community packed into those seats. Artistic directors who had seen her work at three different companies. Season subscribers with their velvet programs and their knowing glances. The woman from the regional theater guild who had nodded at Sylvie in the lobby and then glanced at Roman with a smile that carried too much meaning.
They knew. Some of them, anyway. Enough of them.
Sylvie pressed her lips together and lifted her headset to her ear. "House to half."
The stage lights came up. The play began.
She moved through the first act on autopilot, calling cues with a calm she did not entirely feel. Her voice came steady over the headset, directing the light board operator with clipped precision, calling the sound cues, tracking each entrance and exit with the meticulousness that had made her indispensable to three different companies in as many years. But beneath that practiced competence, her awareness kept drifting.
Roman stood at the back of the house, arms crossed, watching his work take shape. She caught a glimpse of him between the legs of the set, his silhouette sharp against the exit light. He did not look at her. He never did during a performance. But she felt his attention like a current running under the floor.
Cassian was onstage, of course. His voice carried through the theater, rich and warm, landing on every syllable like he was tasting it. She had watched him rehearse this scene thirty times. Tonight he was doing something different. She could not name it, but she felt it. A rawness. A vulnerability that had not been there before. He was performing for her. She knew that without knowing how she knew.
And Everett. He was in the booth above her, running the light board with the same steady hands that had held her face in the dark during tech week. She had not seen him since the afternoon. He had been fixing a stubborn fixture in the fly system, and she had been in the costume shop with Cassian, and the hours between had stretched like a held breath.
The first act ended. Applause rolled through the house, genuine and warm. Sylvie exhaled.
Intermission meant the lobby filled with patrons holding wine glasses and opinions. Sylvie slipped out of the wings and into the hallway that connected backstage to the front of house. She needed water. She needed a moment. She got neither.
"Sylvie March."
The voice came from behind her, smooth and familiar. She turned to find Margaret Chen, the artistic director of the Rep, approaching with a smile that did not quite reach her eyes. Margaret had been in the business for thirty years. She missed nothing.
"Margaret. Enjoying the show?"
"Immensely. You've done remarkable work with this company. The pacing is exquisite." Margaret's gaze drifted past Sylvie's shoulder, where Roman had appeared at the end of the hallway. "You three have quite the partnership."
Sylvie kept her expression neutral. "They're a talented team."
"They are." Margaret's smile sharpened. "And you fit right in the middle of them. Interesting how that works."
The words hung in the air. Sylvie felt heat climb her neck, but she held Margaret's gaze. "I'm the stage manager. That's where I belong."
"Of course." Margaret touched her arm, a gesture that might have been kind. "I'm glad you found your place here, Sylvie. Truly."
She walked away, leaving Sylvie alone in the hallway with her heart pounding.
Roman appeared at her side a moment later. "What did she want?"
"To let me know she sees more than she should."
He frowned. "Did she say something?"
"She said I fit right in the middle of you three. That's all."
Roman's jaw tightened. "I'll talk to her."
"No." Sylvie put a hand on his chest, feeling the rapid beat of his heart beneath her palm. "You won't. We knew this would happen eventually. The theater is a small world. People talk. I can handle it."
He covered her hand with his. "I don't want you to have to handle it. I want you to feel safe here."
"I do feel safe." She meant it. "I feel safer than I've ever felt. But I also know that what we have is unusual. People are going to notice. They're going to wonder. I've been invisible my whole career. Maybe it's time I learned how to be seen."
Roman's expression softened. He leaned down and pressed his lips to her forehead, brief and reverent. "You're remarkable."
"I know." She smiled. "Now get back to your show. Second act starts in four minutes."
He laughed, low and warm, and disappeared into the wings.
The second act passed in a blur. Sylvie called her cues, managed the quick changes, kept the show running like a well-oiled machine. But underneath the professional calm, something had shifted. Margaret's words had cracked something open in her. She had spent her whole life behind the scenes, invisible by choice. But she did not want to be invisible anymore. Not to them. Not to the world.
The final curtain fell to standing applause. Sylvie stood in the wings, watching the cast take their bows, watching Cassian's face shine with sweat and joy, watching Roman appear at the edge of the stage with a bouquet for the lead actress. The applause went on and on.
And then it was over.
The after-party was held in the green room, which had been transformed with fairy lights and a table of champagne flutes. Cast, crew, board members, and subscribers crowded the space, voices overlapping in a symphony of praise and critique. Sylvie moved through the crowd, accepting congratulations with practiced grace, her eyes always scanning for the three men who anchored her world.
Cassian found her first. He appeared at her elbow, still in his costume shirt with the top three buttons undone, his face flushed with post-performance adrenaline. He leaned in, lips brushing her ear.
"You were incredible tonight."
"I didn't do anything. I just called cues."
"You held the whole thing together. That's everything." His hand found the small of her back, brief and discreet. "I want to take you home and show you exactly how incredible I think you are."
Her stomach flipped. "Patience."
"I have none left. I've been watching you all night. Do you know what it does to me, seeing you in command like that?"
She bit her lip. "Later."
"Later." He stepped back, but his eyes promised everything.
Everett appeared a few minutes later, a glass of water in each hand. He handed one to Sylvie without a word. She took it, their fingers brushing.
"You did good tonight," he said.
"We all did."
"Yeah." He looked at her, steady and calm. "But you especially. I noticed."
She felt heat pool in her belly. "Thank you."
He nodded, then moved away to talk to the lighting designer. But his gaze found her again and again across the room, a silent thread connecting them.
Roman was the last to reach her. He was surrounded by board members, fielding questions about the next production, his director's mask firmly in place. But when he finally broke free and approached her, his expression softened into something private.
"Ready to get out of here?"
"More than ready."
They made their excuses, a choreographed dance of smiles and handshakes and promises to see the next show. Sylvie felt Margaret's eyes on her as they left, but she did not look back.
The walk to Sylvie's apartment was short, but the night air felt different. Cooler. Sharper. Sylvie walked between Roman and Cassian, with Everett a step behind, and she felt the weight of their attention like a physical thing. The street was quiet. The stars were out. The world felt like it belonged to them.
Her apartment was small, but it was hers. She unlocked the door and stepped inside, and the moment the door closed behind them, everything changed.
Roman turned the deadbolt. Cassian set down the bottle of champagne he had carried from the party. Everett flicked on a single lamp, casting the room in warm gold light.
And then they all looked at her.
Sylvie felt the weight of their gazes, hungry and reverent, and she let herself be seen. She let herself be wanted. She reached for the hem of her shirt and pulled it over her head.
"I don't want to wait anymore," she said. "I don't want to be careful. I want you all. Tonight. Right now."
Roman's breath caught. Cassian made a sound low in his throat. Everett stepped forward, his hands finding her waist.
"Are you sure?" Roman asked, his voice rough.
"I've never been more sure of anything."
They moved together, a choreography they had learned over weeks of rehearsal. Roman's mouth found hers, deep and claiming, his tongue sliding against hers with a hunger that made her knees weak. Cassian's hands worked at the clasp of her bra, his fingers deft and practiced, and when the fabric fell away, he made a sound of pure appreciation. Everett knelt before her, pressing his lips to her stomach, her hips, the top of her jeans, his breath hot through the denim.
She was surrounded. She was held. She was loved.
The bedroom was small, but they fit. Sylvie lay back on the bed, the three of them arranged around her like a constellation. Roman took her mouth again while Cassian kissed down her throat, her chest, her stomach. Everett worked her jeans down her legs, his hands steady and sure.
She was naked beneath them, and she had never felt more powerful.
"Tell us what you want," Roman murmured against her lips.
"Everything. I want everything."
Cassian's mouth found her center, and she gasped. His tongue was warm and precise, circling her clit with a rhythm he had learned from weeks of practice. He knew exactly how she liked it, exactly how to make her thighs tremble, exactly when to slow down and when to press harder. She arched into him, her hands fisting in the sheets, while Roman took her nipple into his mouth and sucked gently, his tongue tracing circles around the sensitive peak. Everett kissed the inside of her thigh, his stubble rough against her skin, his mouth moving higher with agonizing patience.
The pleasure built slowly, deliberately, like a wave gathering force. Sylvie let herself float on it, let herself be carried. She was not in control here. She did not need to be. She was surrounded by men who knew her, who had studied her, who wanted nothing more than to bring her to the edge and push her over.
Cassian's mouth worked her higher. Roman's hand found hers, fingers lacing together. Everett's lips traced a path up her thigh, her hip, her ribs, his tongue leaving a trail of heat wherever he touched.
"Look at me," Roman said.
She did. His gray eyes were dark, fierce, full of something that looked like worship.
"I love you," he said.
The words broke her open. She came with a cry, her body arching off the bed, Cassian's mouth holding her through every pulse. The wave crashed through her, endless and bright, and when she finally stilled, she was shaking.
But they were not done.
Roman pulled Cassian up and kissed him, deep and possessive, while Sylvie watched. She had seen them kiss before, but never like this. Never with this hunger. Their tongues moved together, and Roman's hand gripped the back of Cassian's neck, holding him close. Sylvie felt a fresh surge of desire at the sight, her body responding even though she had just come.
Everett moved behind her, his chest warm against her back, his hands cupping her breasts. He rolled her nipples between his fingers, gentle at first, then harder, and she gasped and pressed back against him. She could feel his cock hard against her ass, and she shifted her hips, wanting more.
"Turn around," he said, his voice low.
She turned onto her hands and knees. Everett positioned himself behind her, his cock pressing against her entrance, slick and hot. He paused there, letting her feel him, letting the anticipation build until she was trembling. And then he looked at Roman.
"Together?" Roman asked.
Sylvie's heart stuttered. "Yes."
Roman lay down in front of her, his cock hard and ready. She lowered herself onto him, taking him inside her with a moan. He filled her slowly, inch by inch, and she savored the stretch, the fullness, the way his hands gripped her hips as she sank down. And then Everett pushed into her from behind, filling her completely.
She was stretched, full, surrounded. They moved together, a rhythm that built and built. Roman's hands on her hips, Everett's breath hot on her neck, Cassian's eyes fixed on the place where their bodies joined. The sensation was overwhelming, two cocks moving inside her, filling her so completely that she could barely think.
"Watch," Roman said to Cassian. "Watch her take us both."
Cassian knelt beside them, his hand wrapped around his cock, stroking himself in time with their rhythm. His breath came in gasps, his eyes dark with desire. Sylvie reached for him, her hand replacing his, and he groaned at her touch.
"That's it," he said, his voice ragged. "Just like that."
Sylvie lost herself in the sensation. Two cocks moving inside her, two sets of hands holding her, two voices murmuring praise and desire. She was the center of their world, and she felt it in every nerve, every cell. Everett's thrusts grew harder, deeper, and Roman met them with his own rhythm, their bodies moving in perfect sync.
The orgasm built again, stronger this time, deeper. She felt it coming like a train in the dark, unstoppable and bright. Her thighs trembled, her breath came in short gasps, and she could feel herself clenching around them both.
"Come for us," Everett said, his voice breaking.
"Let go," Roman added, his thumb finding her clit, pressing in tight circles.
She did. She shattered, crying out their names, all of them, one after the other, her men, her lovers, her home. The pleasure tore through her, endless and redemptive, and she felt them follow her over the edge. Everett came first, his cock pulsing inside her, his moan hot against her neck. Roman followed, his hips jerking up, his hands tightening on her waist. And Cassian, her hand still wrapped around him, spilled across her fingers with a groan that sounded like her name.
When it was over, she lay between them, trembling and complete. Roman's arm was around her waist. Everett's hand was in her hair. Cassian's lips pressed a kiss to her shoulder.
The night was quiet. The stars were still out. And Sylvie March, who had spent her whole life invisible, had never felt more seen.
She closed her eyes and let herself be held.
Tomorrow there would be another show. Another audience. Another test of discretion. But tonight, there was only this. Only them. Only the fierce and fragile thing they were building together, one night at a time.
She smiled in the dark.
She was home.
Choosing the Ensemble
The email arrived late on a Tuesday afternoon.
Sylvie saw the sender first. Marcus Webb, the producer she had worked with three summers ago on that regional production in Portland. The subject line read: "Exciting opportunity."
She read it twice before the words fully landed.
We're putting together a fall production of Angels in America at the Guthrie. Your work on Portland was exceptional. I want you as production stage manager. Salary is negotiable, housing provided, six-week commitment starting September 15th.
Her heart kicked hard against her ribs. The Guthrie. One of the most respected regional theaters in the country. A contract that would look incredible on her resume. This was the kind of job she had been working toward for years.
She sat back in her chair in the empty theater, the glow of the work lights casting long shadows across the stage. The set for the current production loomed behind her, already half-struck. Closing night had been three days ago. The cast party was tonight. And now this.
Her phone buzzed. Roman.
Rehearsal room in ten? Want to run through the strike schedule.
She typed back: On my way.
But she didn't move. She stared at the email, her thumb hovering over the reply button. She could accept right now. It would be professional. Smart. Exactly the kind of move she had always made.
Except.
Except for them.
She thought of Roman's gray eyes going soft when he looked at her across the rehearsal table. Of Cassian's laugh, warm and unguarded, when she said something that caught him off guard. Of Everett's steady hands on her waist, grounding her after a long night.
She closed the email without replying.
The rehearsal room smelled like old wood and dust and something floral from the cleaning solution Everett used on the floors. Roman stood at the whiteboard, marker in hand, sketching out the strike timeline. Cassian sat cross-legged on the floor, still in character clothes from the final read-through they had done that morning. Everett leaned against the wall, tablet in hand, checking inventory lists.
Sylvie walked in and they all looked up at her.
Something shifted in her chest. She had walked into rooms like this a hundred times before. But never like this. Never with three pairs of eyes tracking her movement, cataloging her expression, reading her like she was the script and they were desperate to know what came next.
"You okay?" Everett asked. His voice was low, careful.
She nodded. "I need to tell you something."
Roman set down the marker. Cassian uncrossed his legs and sat up straighter. Everett pushed off the wall and moved closer.
She told them about the email. About the Guthrie. About the contract starting in September.
When she finished, the room went quiet.
Roman broke first. "That's incredible, Sylvie. The Guthrie is a major step."
"I know," she said.
"Six weeks isn't that long," Cassian said, but his voice had lost its usual warmth. "I mean, people do short contracts all the time."
"It's in Minneapolis," Everett said. Flat. Factual.
Sylvie felt the weight of it settle over them. Six weeks. A thousand miles. A whole different city.
"I haven't accepted yet," she said.
Roman's expression flickered. Surprise, maybe. Or hope he was trying to hide. "Why not?"
She looked at him. At all of them. "You know why."
Cassian stood up, crossed to her, and took her hand. His palm was warm, slightly calloused from the fight choreography they had been running. "We're not going to hold you back from something this big."
"You're not holding me back," she said. "I'm choosing."
Everett moved to her other side. "You don't have to decide right now."
"No," she agreed. "But I need to think about it. Really think."
Roman set down the marker and came closer. The three of them formed a loose circle around her, not trapping her, just present with her in the moment.
"We'll talk tonight," Roman said. "After the party. Just us."
She nodded, throat tight.
The cast party was loud and bright and full of people saying goodbye. Sylvie moved through it like a ghost, smiling, hugging, promising to stay in touch. She watched Cassian work the room, his charm on full display, but every few minutes his eyes found hers across the crowd.
Roman stood by the bar, talking to the lighting designer, but his hand found the small of Sylvie's back every time she passed close enough.
Everett stayed near the food table, but he always had a full glass of water ready when she needed one.
They were watching her. Not hovering, not crowding. Just keeping her in their orbit, steady and sure.
By late evening, the crowd had thinned. As the hours stretched on, it was just the four of them and a few stragglers. Eventually, they were walking back to the apartment in the warm summer dark.
The apartment was quiet when they got in. The windows were open, letting in the sound of distant traffic and the smell of night-blooming jasmine from the garden below. Sylvie kicked off her shoes and stood in the center of the living room, feeling the hardwood cool against her bare feet.
Roman poured himself a glass of water. Cassian dropped onto the couch. Everett leaned against the doorframe.
"So," Cassian said. "The Guthrie."
"The Guthrie," Sylvie repeated.
She could feel the shape of the decision in her chest, heavy and undefined. Six weeks. A major theater. The career she had been building.
But also six weeks without them. Without Roman's intensity and Cassian's warmth and Everett's steadiness. Without the strange, beautiful thing they had built together.
"Tell us what you're thinking," Roman said. Not directing. Asking.
Sylvie took a breath. "I'm thinking that this is exactly the kind of job I've been working toward. I'm thinking that it's only six weeks. I'm thinking that I could do it, come back, and pick up where we left off."
"But?" Cassian said.
"But I'm also thinking that I don't want to leave. That I've spent my whole career being the person who goes where the work is. That I've never had a reason to stay before."
Everett moved into the room. "What's different now?"
She met his eyes. "You. All of you."
The words hung in the air, fragile and true.
Roman set down his glass. "We don't want you to give up your dreams, Sylvie."
"I'm not giving them up. I'm choosing which one to follow."
Cassian stood up and came to her. "What if we made it easier? What if we said we'll wait? We'll be here when you get back."
"Would you?" she asked. "Really?"
"Of course," Everett said.
Roman nodded.
Sylvie looked at each of them in turn. Roman, who had learned to share control. Cassian, who had learned to be steady. Everett, who had learned to be flexible.
They had changed for her. For this.
And she was still deciding.
Later, in the bedroom, the air was thick with unspoken things.
They undressed each other slowly, deliberately, like a ritual. Roman pulled Sylvie's shirt over her head and pressed his lips to her shoulder, tasting the salt of her skin. Cassian unbuttoned her jeans and knelt to slide them down her legs, his palms tracing the curve of her thighs as he went. Everett unhooked her bra and let his hands rest flat against her ribs, feeling the quick flutter of her breath.
"Tell us what you need," Roman said.
Sylvie closed her eyes. "I need to feel it. All of it. I need to know what I'm choosing."
Cassian's hands settled on her hips. "Then let us show you."
They laid her down on the bed, a three-sided cradle of warmth and want. Roman took her mouth, slow and deep, his tongue sliding against hers while his fingers threaded into her hair. Cassian worked his way down her body, leaving a trail of open-mouthed kisses across her ribs, her stomach, the curve of her hip. Everett lay beside her, his hand in her hair, his lips against her temple, his thumb tracing the shell of her ear.
"Just feel," he murmured. "Don't think."
Cassian settled between her thighs, his broad shoulders pushing her legs wider. When his mouth found her, she gasped into Roman's kiss. He was slow, deliberate, his tongue tracing slow circles around her clit before pressing flat against it, drawing out every sensation. He groaned against her flesh, the vibration of it sending sparks up her spine, and she could feel him getting lost in her, in the taste of her, in the way her hips rolled against his mouth.
Roman kept kissing her, swallowing her soft sounds, his hand sliding down to cup her breast, rolling her nipple between his fingers until she whimpered. Everett's hand moved down her side, tracing the shape of her, grounding her, his palm warm and steady against her hip bone while his lips brushed her ear, whispering things that made her shiver.
She lost track of time. Lost track of where one of them ended and another began. Cassian's tongue, patient and relentless, dipping inside her and then dragging back up to that spot that made her thighs shake. Roman's fingers, pinching and pulling, sending sharp bolts of pleasure through her chest. Everett's palm against her heart, feeling it pound, his mouth on her neck, her jaw, the sensitive skin behind her ear.
They built her up and held her there, teetering on the edge, until Cassian sucked gently and she broke apart with a cry that was half relief, half surrender. The orgasm rolled through her in waves, her body clenching around nothing, and Cassian kept his mouth on her through all of it, gentling his touch as she came down, pressing soft kisses to her inner thighs as she trembled.
They gathered her up afterward, turning her, positioning her, never letting her fall. Roman guided her onto her hands and knees, his chest against her back, his lips on her shoulder blade. She could feel him hard against her, the length of him pressing along the cleft of her ass, and she pushed back against him with a needy sound.
"This is what choosing looks like, Sylvie," he said against her ear, his voice rough and low. "Every single night."
He reached between them, guiding himself to her entrance, and pushed in slowly, inch by inch, letting her feel every bit of him. She moaned, her head dropping forward, her body stretching around him, hot and tight and slick from Cassian's mouth. He filled her completely, his hips flush against her ass, and held there while she adjusted, his hand smoothing down her spine.
Cassian knelt in front of her, his cock hard and flushed, and she opened for him without hesitation. She took him into her mouth, tasting the salt of him, feeling the weight of him on her tongue. He groaned, his hand tangling in her hair, not pushing, just holding on.
Everett settled behind Cassian, his hands on both of them, guiding, steadying. She could feel his fingers tracing down Roman's thigh, feel the way his touch made Roman's hips jerk forward, driving him deeper.
They moved together, a four-beat rhythm, all of them connected, all of them watching her. She took Cassian deeper, swirling her tongue around the head of him, feeling him thicken against her lips. Roman's pace quickened, his grip on her hips tightening, pulling her back onto him with each thrust. Everett's hands roamed, touching all of them, his fingers finding where Roman entered her, feeling the stretch and the slick, groaning at the sensation.
"Look at us," Cassian whispered, his voice strained. "Look at what you've made."
She opened her eyes and saw them. Saw the hunger and the tenderness and the absolute devotion in their faces. Saw herself reflected in three sets of eyes, flushed and undone and utterly transparent.
She was not hiding anymore. She was not behind the scenes. She was right here, in the center of everything.
Roman's pace quickened, his thrusts harder now, hitting that spot deep inside her that made her gasp around Cassian's cock. Cassian's breath hitched, his fingers tightening in her hair. Everett's hands tightened on both of them, his own breath ragged as he watched, as he touched, as he held them all together.
She felt it building again, a deeper wave this time, starting low in her belly and spreading outward. Roman must have felt it too, the way she clenched around him, because he groaned against her shoulder and his rhythm faltered.
"Come with me," he said, not a command, a plea. "Sylvie, come with me."
And then they were all falling, together, a cascade of heat and sound and motion. Sylvie felt herself climax again, a deeper wave that pulled her under, her body convulsing around Roman as he drove into her one final time and held, his groan muffled against her shoulder as he spilled inside her. Cassian shuddered, his cock pulsing against her tongue, and she swallowed as he came, his release warm and bitter at the back of her throat. Everett found his release against Cassian's back, his body bowing forward, his hand stroking himself through it as he bit down on Cassian's shoulder.
They collapsed into a heap of limbs and sweat and shared breath.
Sylvie lay in the center of them, her head on Roman's chest, her legs tangled with Cassian's, Everett's arm draped across her waist. She could feel Roman's heartbeat slowing beneath her ear, feel the damp of Cassian's skin against her calves, feel Everett's breath against her neck.
"I'm not going," she said.
The words felt right. Felt true.
"Sylvie," Roman started.
"No, listen." She propped herself up on an elbow. "I've been thinking about this all wrong. The Guthrie isn't the only opportunity. There will be other shows, other contracts. But this thing we have? This doesn't come around every day. This doesn't come around ever."
"You'd be passing up a major career move," Everett said.
"I'd be choosing a major life move instead."
Cassian's hand found hers in the dark. "Are you sure?"
She squeezed his fingers. "I've never been more sure of anything."
Roman pulled her closer, his lips against her hair. "Then we'll figure it out. Together."
"Together," Cassian echoed.
Everett pressed a kiss to her shoulder. "Together."
Sylvie closed her eyes and let herself be held. The decision was made. The path was chosen.
And for the first time in her life, she wasn't looking for the exit.
Standing Ovation
Sylvie woke to the weight of a hand on her hip and the slow rhythm of breathing beside her. Morning light filtered through the curtains of the house they now shared, casting long shadows across the bedroom. She lay still for a moment, letting the reality of her life settle around her like a familiar costume.
It had been three months since she made her choice.
Three months since she told Roman she was staying. Since she packed her apartment into boxes and let Everett drive the truck to this house. Since Cassian cleared a drawer for her in his dresser and a shelf for her scripts in the shared office.
She turned her head on the pillow. Roman lay on her left, one arm stretched across her waist, his face relaxed in sleep. On her other side, Cassian had thrown an arm over his own eyes, blocking the light. She could hear him murmuring something in a dream.
Everett was already up. She could smell coffee.
Sylvie smiled and slid out from between them. Cassian made a soft sound of protest but didn't wake. Roman's hand fell to the empty space where she had been.
She padded barefoot down the hall to the kitchen. Everett stood at the counter, pouring coffee into a mug. He looked up when she entered and his steady blue eyes softened.
"Morning, sunshine."
"Morning." She wrapped her arms around herself, still in the thin tank top and shorts she had worn to bed. "You're up early."
"Couldn't sleep." He handed her the mug. "Was thinking about the new season."
She took a sip. The coffee was strong and hot. "What about it?"
"Just that it's real." He leaned against the counter. "You're here. We're all together. It's not a tech week fantasy anymore."
She set down the mug and stepped into his arms. He held her easily, his solid warmth a comfort she had grown to rely on.
"I know what you mean," she said. "Sometimes I still think I'll wake up and be back in my old apartment, alone."
"That sounds lonely."
"It was. I didn't realize how much I was holding back until I stopped."
Everett pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "You're not holding back anymore."
It was true. The woman who had arrived at the first production meeting, who had kept her distance and guarded her heart, felt like a stranger now. Sylvie had changed. She had let them in, and in doing so, she had found a version of herself she hadn't known existed.
She heard footsteps on the stairs.
Roman appeared in the kitchen doorway, his gray eyes still heavy with sleep. He was wearing only a pair of loose sweatpants. His dark hair was a mess.
"You left," he said.
"I came for coffee." She held up her mug. "There's more."
He crossed to her and wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her head. "Don't leave the bed without me next time."
"I make no promises."
Cassian stumbled in a moment later, squinting against the light. He wore an old t-shirt that had once belonged to Everett.
"Everyone's up," he said. "Great. Now we can all be awake together."
Sylvie laughed. It was easy, this life. It was full.
Later that morning, they sat around the kitchen table with notebooks and schedules spread out before them. The new season was about to begin. Three shows in ten weeks. A smaller cast, more ambitious design.
Roman was in full director mode, his voice crisp and commanding. "I want the first production to set the tone. Something intimate but bold."
Cassian leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. "So something that lets me show off."
"Something that lets all of us show off," Roman corrected.
Everett was sketching a lighting plot in the margin of his notebook. "I can work with that. We'll need to order gels by Friday."
Sylvie watched them, feeling the familiar hum of excitement that came with a new project. But this time it was different. This time she wasn't just the stage manager. She was a partner in the company, in every sense of the word.
"I've already started the production schedule," she said. "We can block out tech week by the end of today."
Roman looked at her with something like pride. "Have I told you how glad I am you stayed?"
"A few times."
"Then I'll say it again." He reached across the table and took her hand. "I'm glad you stayed."
Cassian reached over and touched her knee under the table. "We all are."
Everett just smiled, but she felt the warmth of it.
That night, they gathered on the back porch. The summer air was thick with the scent of honeysuckle and cut grass. Fireflies blinked in the yard. Sylvie sat on the steps between Roman's legs, her back against his chest. Cassian was sprawled on the grass, looking up at the stars. Everett leaned against the railing, a beer in his hand.
"This is good," Sylvie said quietly.
"It is," Roman agreed.
Cassian turned his head to look at them. "We should do something to celebrate. The new season. Sylvie's official commitment."
"I feel celebrated," she said.
"Still." He sat up. "We should have a night. Just us. No schedules, no scripts, no tech. Just us."
Everett nodded. "I can do that."
Roman's hands tightened on Sylvie's waist. "What did you have in mind?"
Cassian's grin was slow and wicked. "I think we can figure it out."
They moved inside when the mosquitoes got too thick. The house was quiet, the lights dim. Sylvie felt the shift in the air, the way the three of them seemed to focus on her as they climbed the stairs.
In the bedroom, Cassian turned on a single lamp, casting the room in warm gold light.
"Sit," he said to Sylvie, pointing to the bed.
She sat. Her heart was beating fast, but steady. She trusted them.
Roman and Everett flanked her. Cassian knelt in front of her. He took her hands.
"We want to give you a night," he said. "No pressure, no expectations. Just us loving you the way you deserve."
She felt tears prick her eyes. "I don't know what I did to deserve this."
"You showed up," Everett said simply. "You stayed."
Roman leaned down and kissed her forehead. "You let us in."
Cassian lifted her chin with one finger. "We're going to take our time, Sylvie. We're going to worship every inch of you. And when we're done, you're going to know exactly how much you're loved."
She nodded, her throat tight.
Roman undressed her slowly, piece by piece. His fingers lingered on her skin, tracing the lines of her body as if memorizing them. He slipped the tank top over her head, letting it fall to the floor. His palms slid over her ribs, her stomach, the curve of her waist. When he unhooked her bra and drew it away, the air touched her bare skin and she shivered. He unbuttoned her shorts and slid them down her legs, kneeling to help her step out of them. When she was bare, he sat back and looked at her.
"Beautiful," he said.
Cassian stepped forward and took her mouth in a deep, slow kiss. His hands cupped her face, tilting her head back. She melted into him, tasting the hint of beer on his lips, the warmth of his breath. His tongue slid against hers, lazy and thorough, and she felt the heat pool low in her belly.
Everett came up behind her and pressed a kiss to her shoulder, then her neck. His hands found her waist, steadying her. She leaned back into him, feeling the hard planes of his chest against her back, the evidence of his arousal pressing against her.
They undressed together, the three of them moving around her like a dance. Roman pulled off his shirt, revealing the lean muscles of his chest and stomach. Cassian tugged his over his head, his golden skin catching the lamplight. Everett stripped down last, his broad shoulders and strong arms a familiar comfort.
When they were all bare, Roman guided her to lie back on the bed.
"Tonight," he said, "you're the star."
Cassian lay beside her, propped on one elbow. He traced a line from her collarbone down between her breasts. "We're your audience."
Everett settled at the foot of the bed, his hands on her ankles, spreading her legs gently. "We're your crew."
Roman positioned himself at her head, his hands in her hair. "And we're yours."
Sylvie closed her eyes and let herself be taken.
Cassian kissed down her body, slow and deliberate. His mouth traced a path from her lips to her jaw, down her neck to the hollow of her throat. He paused there, tongue dipping into the dip between her collarbones, before continuing lower. He reached her breasts and took his time with each one, circling her nipple with his tongue before drawing it into his mouth. She arched into him, her hands finding Roman's thighs, Everett's shoulders.
Roman held her head, tilting it back to kiss her deeply. His tongue swept into her mouth, claiming her, while his other hand slid down to cup her breast, his thumb brushing her nipple where Cassian's mouth had been. She moaned against him, the dual sensation sending sparks through her.
Everett parted her legs wider, settling between them. His mouth found her inner thigh, then the other. He kissed and licked his way up, his stubble rasping against her sensitive skin, never quite reaching where she wanted him. He breathed against her, hot and deliberate, and she whimpered.
"Please," she whispered.
"Please what?" Cassian asked, pausing his work on her breast.
"Please don't make me wait."
Everett chuckled, the vibration of it traveling through her. "We've got all night, sweetheart."
But he took pity on her. His tongue found her center, one long stroke that made her cry out and buck against him. Roman held her still, his hands firm on her shoulders.
"Easy," Roman murmured. "Let him take care of you."
Everett's tongue was precise, knowing. He worked her slowly, circling her clit with maddening patience before dipping lower, tasting her. He slid one finger inside her, then two, curling them as his tongue continued its rhythm. She gasped, her hips lifting off the bed.
Cassian continued to kiss and lick her breasts, alternating between them. He pinched one nipple while his mouth worked the other, the slight pain mixing with the pleasure until she couldn't tell them apart. Roman held her hands above her head, keeping her still, keeping her present. His mouth moved at her ear, whispering things that made her blush and ache.
She came apart quickly, the first orgasm washing through her like a wave. She cried out, her body arching, her inner walls clenching around Everett's fingers. He worked her through it, drawing out every last tremor.
But he didn't stop. He kept going, his tongue gentler now but relentless, pushing her higher, keeping her on the edge. She squirmed, oversensitive, and Roman's grip tightened.
"Too much," she gasped.
"Not even close," Roman said.
Cassian moved down to join Everett, his mouth replacing Everett's for a moment. His technique was different, faster, more playful. He sucked her clit into his mouth while Everett moved up to kiss her, letting her taste herself on his lips. Sylvie was lost, drowning in sensation. Two mouths, four hands, three bodies surrounding her, taking her apart and putting her back together.
She came again, harder this time, her vision whiting out. Her thighs clamped around Cassian's head and she heard him groan against her, the sound vibrating through her core.
When she came back to herself, they had repositioned. She was on her stomach, Roman beneath her, his cock pressing against her belly. Everett was behind her, his hands on her hips. Cassian was in front of her, his mouth on hers.
"Ready?" Roman asked.
She nodded, unable to speak.
Everett entered her first, slow and deep. She gasped at the fullness, her body stretching to accommodate him. He paused, letting her adjust, his hands stroking her back. Then Roman guided her onto him, and she felt impossibly full, stretched between them. She whimpered at the sensation, the pressure, the overwhelming rightness of it.
Cassian watched, his hand moving over himself, his eyes dark with desire. He knelt near her face, and she reached for him, wrapping her hand around his cock. He groaned, his hips pushing forward.
"Tell me how it feels," he said.
"Full," she managed. "So full. So good."
Everett began to move, slow and deep, pulling almost all the way out before sliding back in. Roman matched his rhythm from beneath her, his hands on her hips, guiding her. She was caught between them, held, filled, loved. The friction built, each thrust sending pleasure cascading through her.
Cassian leaned in and kissed her, his tongue sliding against hers. She moaned into his mouth while her hand worked him, feeling him grow harder in her grip.
The rhythm built. Everett's hands on her hips tightened, his fingers digging into her flesh. Roman's breath came in harsh pants beneath her, his cock twitching inside her. She was lost in the sensation, the push and pull, the fullness of being taken by two men while a third watched and waited.
"I'm close," Everett said, his voice strained.
"Not yet," Roman said. "Not without Cassian."
They shifted, Everett pulling out, Roman rolling her onto her back. The loss of them left her empty, aching, but only for a moment. Cassian moved between her legs, his cock hard and leaking. Roman guided him in, and Cassian pushed inside her with one long thrust. She gasped, her back arching off the bed.
Cassian's eyes locked on hers as he began to move. "God, Sylvie. You feel incredible."
Roman moved behind Cassian, his hands on the younger man's hips. She watched Cassian's face change as Roman entered him, the pleasure and pain mixing, his eyes fluttering shut before snapping back to hers. The room filled with the sound of their shared pleasure, moans and gasps and the wet slap of skin against skin.
Sylvie was the center, the point around which they orbited. Cassian thrust into her, Roman thrust into Cassian, and she felt the rhythm of it, the unity of it. Each of Roman's thrusts drove Cassian deeper into her, a chain of pleasure connecting all three of them. She wrapped her legs around Cassian's waist, pulling him closer, deeper.
"Harder," she whispered, and Cassian obeyed, his hips snapping forward, his breath coming in ragged gasps.
Roman reached around Cassian, his hand finding Sylvie's clit, his fingers working her in time with their thrusts. She cried out, the sensation too much, too good. She felt the orgasm building, coiling tight in her belly.
She came again, her body gripping Cassian, and that triggered him. He groaned, his head falling back, spilling into her in hot pulses. Roman followed, his cry mingling with theirs as he found his release. The three of them moved together, riding the waves of pleasure until they subsided.
For a moment, they were still, connected, breathing together. Cassian's forehead rested against Sylvie's, his breath warm on her face. Roman's arms wrapped around them both from behind.
Then Cassian pulled out, and Roman withdrew, and they collapsed around her. Everett pulled her close, his hands gentle on her sweat-slicked skin. Roman wrapped around them both, and Cassian settled at her feet, one hand resting on her ankle.
She was surrounded.
She was home.
The morning came soft and quiet. Sylvie woke to find herself still in the tangle of their arms. Roman was awake, watching her.
"Good morning," she whispered.
"Good morning, love." He touched her face. "How are you feeling?"
"Complete."
He smiled, and she saw the peace in his eyes. The intensity was still there, but it had softened. He had learned to share control, to let go.
Cassian stirred and pulled her closer. "No fair having private conversations without me."
"Who said anything about private?" she teased.
Everett's hand found her back. "I heard everything. I was just pretending to sleep."
She laughed, and the sound filled the room.
Later, they all stood in the kitchen, making breakfast together. Sylvie at the stove, flipping pancakes. Everett beside her, cracking eggs. Roman and Cassian at the table, arguing over a script.
It was ordinary. It was extraordinary.
Sylvie watched them, her partners, her company, her life. She had stopped hiding. She had stepped into the spotlight, and they had caught her.
She smiled and turned back to the pancakes.
The summer stretched ahead, full of possibility and promise. And Sylvie March, stage manager, lover, and beloved, was ready for every minute of it.
