Dr. Tamsin Quill adjusted the submersible's controls with precise fingers, the hum of the engines vibrating through the narrow cockpit. At two thousand meters, the water pressed in like a living weight, but the familiar glow of her instruments kept the dark at bay. Bioluminescent traces flickered across the external cameras, schools of deep-sea creatures pulsing in rhythmic patterns she had documented for years. Her auburn hair clung to her neck beneath the headset, and the fitted research suit hugged her athletic frame, the material cool against her skin where sweat had gathered during the long descent.

"Steady now," she murmured to herself, logging another reading on the tablet. The ocean floor stretched below, a black expanse broken only by the occasional vent plume. This dive was routine, a follow-up on her latest paper about neural signaling in abyssal fauna. Nothing prepared her for the sudden spike on the sonar.

A distortion rippled across the screen, colors bleeding into impossible hues. Tamsin leaned forward, green eyes narrowing. "What the hell..." The anomaly expanded, a tear in the water itself, edges shimmering with silver-blue light that defied physics. Her submersible lurched as if caught in a current, but the instruments showed no movement in the surrounding fluid.

The rift yawned wider, pulling the vessel forward. Tamsin slammed the thrusters to reverse, muscles tensing in her arms. "No, no, stabilize!" The hull groaned. Lights flickered. Then the pull intensified, dragging her submersible into the glowing breach like a leaf into a drain. Water roared around her, pressure readings spiking wildly before the display went dark.

Everything went silent. Weightless. Then the first pulse hit.

It slammed into her mind without warning, a flood of fragmented sensations that were not her own. Tamsin gasped, hands flying to her temples. Images flashed: elongated limbs moving through vast glowing chambers, resonant voices overlapping in a language of pure vibration. She felt the echo of skin against skin, not her skin, but something luminous and silver-blue, warm and electric. A memory not hers surged through, a shared climax that rippled across multiple bodies at once, pleasure echoing like a heartbeat in a choir. Her own body responded involuntarily, nipples tightening against the suit fabric, a flush spreading down her chest.

"Get out," she whispered, voice shaking. "This isn't real." But the fragments kept coming, alien memories bleeding into her thoughts. One showed a slender figure with iridescent markings arching under careful touches, sensations shared so vividly that Tamsin felt phantom pressure between her thighs. Another brought a warm bronze form laughing softly amid waves of collective arousal. Her analytical mind scrambled for explanations, marine biology terms rising uselessly. Neural interference? Hallucination from pressure? The link refused to yield.

A voice cut through the chaos, layered and resonant, carrying both words and the faint brush of curiosity. "Subject identified. Human designation: Tamsin Quill. Neural signature unique. Initiating probe."

Tamsin jerked upright in the harness. The submersible floated in a cavernous space of living light, walls pulsing like veins. No water surrounded her now. The air tasted metallic, charged. "Who are you? Where am I?" Her clipped tone cracked on the last word.

The presence answered inside her head, clinical yet intimate, each syllable sending a shiver along her spine. "Archivist-Prime Seryn of the Orryn Collective. You have entered the Archive through the rift. Your mind opens to us. Fragments are already integrating."

Another pulse followed, gentler but insistent. Seryn's curiosity probed deeper, sifting through her recent memories like pages in a book. She felt him touch the edge of her last successful dive, the satisfaction of data collected, then linger on a private moment she had buried, the quiet ache of loneliness after long expeditions. Heat bloomed low in her belly despite her resistance. "Stop that," she said aloud, gripping the console. "My thoughts are private. This is... violation."

"Privacy is an illusion in the pulse," Seryn replied, his tone patient, almost instructional. A new fragment slipped through: the memory of three human-adjacent forms linked to him, their pleasures feeding back into a central resonance. Tamsin tasted the echo of it, a shared gasp, fluid warmth, the stretch and clench of multiple bodies moving in perfect sync. Her thighs pressed together involuntarily, a betraying slickness gathering between them. She hated how her body cataloged the sensation with scientific detachment even as her pulse raced.

Seryn's probe continued, mapping her responses. "Fascinating. Your resistance strengthens the link. The fragments you experience belong to Neris, Corin, and Lira. Their echoes prepare the way." A soft wave of warmth followed, the collective pulse brushing her mind like fingers tracing skin. Tamsin moaned despite herself, the sound small and startled in the glowing chamber. The submersible's systems remained dead, leaving her isolated with this alien presence that knew her already, intimately, without permission.

She fought to anchor herself in logic. "Marine anomaly. Rift physics unknown. Neural overload possible. I need to document..." But the words dissolved as another memory fragment surfaced, this one of Seryn himself, tall and luminous, guiding a consort through the first shared release. The clinical curiosity in his voice mixed with the raw physicality of the moment, and Tamsin felt it all as if it happened to her. Her breath came faster. Sweat beaded along her spine beneath the suit.

"You will integrate," Seryn observed, the statement calm and inevitable. "The Archive hungers for new resonance. Your autonomy is temporary."

Tamsin closed her eyes, stubbornness flaring even as unwanted arousal coiled tighter. The first pulse-link had only begun, and already the fragments threatened to rewrite her sense of self. The rift had closed behind her. There was no going back yet, not until she understood, not until she could reclaim control. But the shared pulse thrummed on, patient and endless, waiting for her to yield another inch.
